I'm in for the new Challenge. I'm also in a challenge at my Leslie Sansone site. My starting weight on Jan. 1, 2008 was 175.2 and I'd like to lose at least 10 pounds by the end of the challenge. Good luck to all!

Count me in ... I have been using caloriesperhour.com as a reference piece, but never thought before of checking out the forums. I think that the support will be very beneficial for me.
I'm currently 152.5 pounds, my long term goal is 120, but my goal for this two month challenge is 10 pounds.
Good luck to everyone!!

I weighed myself Jan. 1 and was 199.6 -- up from 194.6 pre-holiday.
I got back on my walking schedule of 2 miles a day and January 2 and weighed 198.2.
Yaaaaaaaay.
I need to cut out cholesterol because it's high -- I've been doing that since October and it helped me drop about 10 lbs.
I already walk 1 mile a day, but it's not enough for me to lose weight. If I walk between 2 to 3 miles a day, I lose weight.
So, that is what I am going to do. I want to lose7 lbs. by Feb. 29. I hope that is not unrealistic. I've never entered these challeges before. Do we get email reminders to post or something? I'm real absent minded.
off to have my morning coffee!

| I would like to join in the Challenge, but I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to do. My current weight is 170 pounds. Eventually I would like to get down to 140, but I know that isn't likely by February 29th. My goal for that date is 150 pounds.

I am a new member - this challenge is just what I need, so thanks!
My starting weight is 168 (ugh!) - would like to lose 15 by end of the challenge (which would put me at 153) and ultimately would like to get to 140 - 145.
Thanks, and good luck to all!

| I'm in! - I lost 48 lbs one year ago - but I didn't keep it off - once I was not "regimented" anymore it came back - so here we try again - I am starting at a whopping 269 lbs (and I am 5'1") - my goal weight is actually 130 lbs (That's what my doctor realistically says I can reach) - so let's get started!

Hello Everyone,
I am making the step to put my challenge out there. My name is Anthony and I currently weigh 220lbs ( proper weight would be 165lbs).
My goal by Feb 29th is to weigh 199 lbs. I am in the Y at least 8 times a month and last summer I was at 199 at the end of a short biggest loser program they had at the Y.
This goal is in preparation for a half marathon in April. I have done that twice but I plan to do it in under 2 hours. That is a 30 minute reduction. If I am carrying around at least 50lbs less then it should not be a problem.
Best wishes everyone,
Anthony

hmmm -- people are shooting for 10 lb. weight loss. Well. I'm sticking with 7. I want to be realistic. If I beat that, I'll be happy. If I make it, I'll be happy. If I lose weight period, I'll be happy.
I'm NOT going to gain. That's it.
Does anyone know about muscle mass and weight gain? Is it a factorable thing? I know there is something about body mass and body fat ratio, but I don't know how to calculate it or anything. I'd like to learn how to do that.
Muscles burn fat, so exercise is a fantastic way to lose weight. That is the only way I've ever lost weight. Kids and stress put it back on. But I'm doing pottery now and investing in art full time since I'm older -- so the stress is minimized. I think I'll finally be able to get down to my pre-kid weight, though that will take two years, I'm sure. I'll be happy to weigh between 150 and 160. At any rate, I want to lose 40 lbs. by January 1 2009.

My current weight is 180 and my goal is 170. On Dec 1 I was 184, so I am doing okay, but I am ready, now that the holiday parties are behind me!

Hello all, and happy New year! This is my first post on these forums. My name is Gina, and I am a 25 year old single mom to 1 1/2 year-old twin girls. I am also a Medical Assistant at a diabetes center, and have seen first hand what obesity can do to a person.
My max weight (non-pregnant) was 225lbs. I lost a lot of weight and then got pregnant with my girls. So this time, I started out at exactly 200lbs and since the beginning of September have lost 43lbs. I am presently down to 157lbs. Based on my height of 5' 2", in order to have a healthy BMI I am looking to lose another 27lbs to get to my goal weight.
So, for this challange, I would like to lose about 16lbs in two months, which is roughly 2lbs per week, getting me down to 141lbs. I know I can do it! I am pretty strict with my calorie counting and keep an online food journal over at astral_foodlog2.livejournal.com
Thanks all, I am looking forward to this challange and all the support!

I'm motivated, and don't want that to stop. My goal is to lose 15 lbs by 2/29 (but I'll gladly take more!). My current weight (post holiday cruise) is 216lbs.

I am going to have to agree that 43 pounds in 2 months is dangerouss.
2 pounds a week is right, of course. But if you refuse that and want to be ambitous and shoot for 20 in 2 months. Please keep in mind that you may actually gain a few pounds at first-by drinking lots of water. But it is just part of the process. Drink that water, it will eventually be your frind in weight loss.
Exercise, good food, water, and proper rest.
Don't worry about having the motivation-you'll come here for it!
We are in the same boat.
Best wishes,
Anthony

Well, I am with you. I am from Texas the beautiful Hill Country, I plan on getting back to my walking and go to weight room 2 times per week and I have an ellipitical at home so I have no excuse...
7 lbs is a good goal, I set mine at 14, but if I lose that I will just beat my goal. You go girl! Have fun, we make it what we want to.

Hi, Everyone!
I'm new to the Challenge, although I've been using caloriesperhour.com for about 3 years now. Last year I joined South Beach Diet and did their challenge, and it really helped, so I'm excited about a FREE challenge on this site!
I weighed in this morning at 165. My ultimate goal would be bewteen 145-150, but an intermediate goal for this challenge is 157: 1 pound a week. I had laparscopic surgery three weeks ago, so I haven't been able to work out since then. Today will be my first day back at the gym and back to getting serious about losing this weight! Those five pounds above 160 really make a difference in how my clothes fit and how I feel.

According to my scale, I went from 134 yesterday to 130.5 this morning. Admittedly, I exercised a lot and didn't overeat (NO junk and only one small bowl of ice cream), but still.......I don't think I lost 3.5 pounds in one day.
Perhaps one of my major problems is that I need a new scale! Now I'm facing one of life's BIG decisions: Was my scale right yesterday or today? Hmmmm

I don't know if this forum allows us to reply specifically to one person's post or not. I was browsing through some of the recent posts and came across Sandy's. Sandy, it sounds like you and I are at about the same place and trying to get to the same goal--maybe we can especially watch for each other's posts for mutual encouragement.

| Go to Wal-Mart or somewhere and weigh and see what thier scales say, if yours is right no need to buy a new one.

To Lucky Me:
Probably there's nothing wrong with your scale. Weight can fluctuate, especially in women, I think, several pounds without a real weight "loss" or "gain". The best advice I've found has been from this website: weigh yourself every day, but take an average of the weights once a week to find your "true" weight. Losing or retaining water can make a big difference, too: when I had to do a bowel cleanse prior to surgery and had to go without drinking for almost 18 hours as well, I lost about 5 pounds in one day. Definitely NOT the way to do it, though!

Well Lucky, The same thing happens to me too. It is from water retention and if you haven't had a BM in awhile. My weight fluctuates 2-4 pounds all the time.

| Happy New Year! I am 53 years young and have recently lost 16 lbs, but put 1.5 lbs back on over the holiday. I really tried to behave myself and I think a 1.5 lb gain is not that bad, considering I have a sweet tooth. I have hit a stone wall and have worked at maintaining my weight for 2 months. I want to loose another 3 to 5 lbs, by the end of February. I am going to Mexico March 1st for vacation & want to be fit. Any suggestions about getting past the stonewall?

I forgot to check in yesterday, when I weighed 135. This morning I weighed 137. I go up and down so much!!! So, I figure if I lose one pound a week between now and the end of February, I aim to lose 8 pounds. So, I'm aiming for 128 since that's between those two numbers. Will anyone be on late-night when I get the munchies?
Let's do it!

| DaniMae, thanks for the reply. It's good to know that this happens. I don't usually weigh myself everyday. Well, at least I won't be too discouraged if the 3.5 pounds are back tomorrow. (Oh, wash my mouth out with soap for that sentence.)

| Have you tried lifting weights? The increase in muscle would initially increase your weight, but it increases your metabolism. I'd also try cross-training with cardio exercises that have a large range of motion, like running, versus biking (not much movement) because they have more residual calorie burning.

Fleabe,
I got the idea to do something like this just this morning! I'm going to try a new forum called:
Who's Watching Whom
Or, more to the point, who's watching me?
It won't be replacing challenges like this, or the My Diary forum. It's something different.
A number of times I've started posting what I was eating (actually, in my case only all the sweets I was eating) with the idea of accountability. I felt that if I were sharing with others, I would watch what I ate more carefully.
But I would post and post and though you can see if people have Viewed your post, when you don't hear a word from someone else you still feel quite alone.
So I got the idea this morning to start a new forum where each person posting (whatever they want to post, totally up to them) will have a buddy or monitor who Watches their posts. Just click on Watch Topic in the lower left of your screen and you'll get an e-mail notifying you when someone posts in the topic.
It will be the responsibility of their monitor to Watch their topic and post every week or so so they truly feel accountable to someone else.
This would be the minimum arrangement to join this forum, but there are no limits. The two people could also choose to both monitor each other and post away all day long as others have successfully done in the past.
But again, it can be as simple as it will be for me: January 6 I plan to start posting all the sweets I eat and will be looking for someone to monitor my posts.
I don't want to sidetrack this challenge with a long discussion and lots of post about this, so please don't reply to this here. I'll get the new forum started in the next few days -- Friday at the latest -- and we'll see how it goes!
Peter

Hey there everyone. I have been on CPH for a long time, altho mainly as a lurker. But I figured it would be a good thing to jump into this forum and see what success comes of it. I have been on the weightloss wagaon for many many years, lots of potholes and lots of smooth roads. Right now I am looking at my last 8 lbs till my goal weight. I am going on my first ever Carnival cruise the last week of February and would like to be at goal weight by then. I am clocking into this challenge at 158 lbs and hope to be at 150 by the end of February. I wish for strengh and success for all of us.

I am up for the challenge! I weighed myself this AM... 260.5 yuck. My goal is to lose 20 lbs by Feb 29th. That is a average of 2.5 lbs per week.
I have a fat picture that really helps when I get any urges to eat food I should not!
I will check in next Monday (Jan 7th)... wish me well.

Hi, I just received the newsletter in my email and decided to join this forum and the challenge. I need all the support I can get. I'm from the Upstate NY in the Finger Lakes Area and have struggled with my weight for quite some time. On February 14th I will be turning 50 years old and I told myself that I have to get this weight off once and for all. This looks like it would be a great place to start.
Today's weight is 173.5
By the end of February my goal is to be at 160. Then I'll go from there. My ultimate goal is to be about 145 by May for my niece's wedding.
I hope with the help of this web site and all the support I will reach my goals. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks and hello everyone!

to potbelliedkiln -
how do you stick to it? I'm relatively healthy, 5'2" at 120, but I'm 41, and the flabby-ness increases with every passing year. it's so hard to stick to a good healthy plan - plus I have 3 teenagers (14, 15, 16) who are all in sports so we're running all the time. got any stick-to-it tips?
