My weight jumped way down this morning, but I know it was a daily fluctuation... so I'm going with recent averages.

Hi everyone,

Just want to let you know I am dropping out of the challenge.   Sorry!   But, I've been having some problems with depression, and need to cope with that first and foremost.  Hope to be back in fighting form for the next challenge.

Hi everyone

I am here to report a few things.

Morning Good news: I weigh 141.5 this morning. That is down 4 lbs since I started this challenge.:smile:

Evening Bad news: I just came from the hospital. My step dad (more like my REAL dad for the last 8 years) has just been diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer, an aneurism in his brain and blood clots in his legs. The Dr. told us this afternoon that he has 3-6 months to live, unless his gets Chemotherapy in which case he gives him no more than a year. I dont even know what to think or feel other than shock, sadness and anger. They said it is from smoking. Last night my brother's girlfriend also told us she has cancer. Not as aggressive or fatal but some form I guess.

:crying::crying::crying::crying:

I know this is NOT the place for my troubles...and its for diet stuff...but I couldnt help it, I feel lost and scared and thought maybe, on the off chance someone else is going through this, they have advice or hope or I dont know...something. :nono:

Anyway, if not, at least I was able to vent. I welcome any prayers. We definitely need them right now.

:heart:OWF

No real loss this week. still at 158lbs. Had a 1.5 gain after the weekend but managed to shake that off before weigh in day so can't complain.

Hey Flip and thinkskinny,

Maintaining is GOOD. I really like it when I maintain just for a week or two, because I think it means that I am learning how much a healthy amount of food is...

Let's keep going! We still have time!

Better check your math!

135.4 - 134.6 = -0.8

Looks like a loss to me!

(I know you meant for the week, but look at the big picture!)

OWF,

I'm sorry to hear about your step dad.  I lost my dad to cancer and my wife lost her sister to it as well.  She was only 32.  This isn't easy and I know what you and your family are going through.

Rest assured I will pray for you and your step dad.  From my experience it is a great comfort to know that someone is speaking to Almighty God on my behalf.  Trust that He will be with you dad, you and your family through this difficult time.

Do you feel comfortable enough to share his first name, I'll be happy to ask my men's church group to pray for you all as well.

Hi everybody,

One of my part-time people sent this to me today.  She is soooo fired.

[size=How to eat right during the holidays, and watch your waistline…..EXPAND!!]

[size= ]

1.        1.      Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet
table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see
carrots, leave immediately. Go next door where they're serving rum
balls.

2. Drink as much eggnog as you can and quickly. You can't find it any
other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000
calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an
'eggnog-aholic' or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it! Have one for me.
Have two. It's later than you think.

3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of
gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of
your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk
or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a
sports car with an automatic transmission.

5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control
your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat
other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello!?!?

6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New
Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do.
This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the
buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of
eggnog.

7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like
frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position
yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before
becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of
shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.

8. Same for pies. Apple, pumpkin and mincemeat - have a slice of each.
Or, if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin.
Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert
-- Labor Day?

9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted it's loaded with the
mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost, unless it's
from Collin Street Bakeries. I mean, have some standards.

10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party
or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Reread
tips: Start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner.

50#'s gone, gone, gone!  Way to go, dude!  Awesome!!!  It sure feels good, huh?

Everyone else,

It's Wednesday again.  You know what that means.  Report your weight tomorrow!  I haven't heard from some folks since we started.  Are y'all still out there?  There's still time...we're in the home stretch.

Thanks for the reminder DG. Can't wait to see how you and I did this week. I was contemplating doing a second workout tonight....now I'm going for it! I'm pretty sure I'm down again. Darn it I better be I've worked so hard! I was remembering a time when I could go for dinner or cook something and consume a whole day or more calories in one meal. It seems so long ago, then again so does that wheelchair and crutches.
For us West Coasters see you in the late AM. Good luck everyone.

Hi DG,

Well, as of this morning I'm at 240 for a 2 lb. loss this past week.

I went to a small gathering last night with some friends and the only things they had there to eat were various kinds of cheese cakes, choc. fudge, and pumpkin cake roll.

I had one piece of fudge and coffee.  That's it!!!!!

Got up this morning and did 40 min. of stationary bike, three sets of military pushups and three sets of barbell bicep curls.  I was beat but I think I worked off the piece of fudge.

Have a great day and a safe trip to Disney World!!!  Please tell me again who is taking up the list for next week.

Okay, well I am 134. I was hoping for a tinch less, but oh well. I still have one more week...granted, I'm not going to make 129 now, but whatev. As long as I am lower than when I started, it works for me.

That's the spirit, CG.  You'll hit 129 in no time.  I have to continually remind myself that I have to make a lifestyle change and so if I don't hit a number in a given week, I know I will as I'll be challenged the rest of my life.

Hang in there!!!

According to my sister's digital and manual scales I have lost 6lbs:shock: for the week.  But I will rather take the last few weeks averages and say that I lost 2lbs and am at 199lbs.  I think it could be that my scale in Uganda just shows that I weigh more.  I will only know now when I get back to Uganda.  I have been keeping my calories still at 1600 daily and working out on the elliptical between 30 minutes and an hour a day so the cahnges shouldn't be so big.  At least I say goodbye to the 200's.

Theresa, please post your sister's address. I want to use her scales!

Actually, I am happy to be where I was last week and not have gained.

I am leaving for Seattle in the morning, and then off to family Christmas in Sacramento after that. I will not be reporting again until the new challenge.

I am so proud of all of you who have done so well, especially at this time of year. And for those of you who haven't reached your goal, and even those of you who have gained, I'm sure we all did much better for having stuck it out in this challenge!

I'm ashamed to say I have been pver indulging far too much in the last 2 weeks (almost as bad as I used to be). :-(. I've got to get it undercontrol. I'm not going to make my target at all. I'm now just going for damage control and maintenence between now and 4th January when all festivities should be over and I can get serious.
This week I lost .8 lb bringing my total loss so far to 6.7lbs, that's not even half of my aim of 14lbs! Oh well.
Good luck everyone! I hope you are all avoiding the temptations better than I have been!

Considering my life as of late...I am happy to report I lost a half a pound this week! I am 141.0 lbs now. I will take it. I am happy I did not gain considering I had some chocolates this week and some alcohol. But I did the best I could. So far for this challenge I started late...but I started at 145.5 and now I am 141.0 so I have lost 4.5 lbs from the challenge-considering I took a tropical vacation and have endured the holiday temptations and been stood up at the gym cause instructors havent been showing up...and considering my stepfathers recent diagnosis...I am VERY proud of my half pound loss this week!!!!!!:grin::grin:

That's still 6.7 lbs gone!!!  Find something that weighs that much and carry it around with you for an hour and see how you feel when you let it go.

There is something significant happening here.  I don't really know you but most people, particularly those of us who put on weight, tend to use food for solace especially when faced with stress in our lives.  Considering what you're going through right now, you're doing very well!

Flip,

Try a week of really counting every calorie and working out 5 minutes more each day.  Sometimes that may be all it takes to get of the plateau and the results can be dramatic.

Also, increase your water intake (I don't know how much you're taking).  This will keep your metabolism going too.

Hang in there.

Well I have held steady through out the challenge and have had no change in weight.  I guess I just maintained.........better than gaining.  With all the foods, food day at work, trying to get everything done and being sick, there has been no work outs or walking, well, lets of walking  while shopping.......but, nothing like it should be.  But, I am happy that I haven't gained.

Sorry I'm late. I gained. I'm at 238 now.

Man, it's tough. The last two weeks at work my employers provided dinners and all kinds of snacks and I had a real tough time staying away from it I won't make my goal, but at least yesterday was my last day at work until Christmas.

I have not posted have been batteling migranes, dr's are trying to figure out why, not sure if it is asthma related or if it might be something else.  Have ruled out the major things like an anuerism (they run in my family), or stroke.  I have been stressed, but, not that bad, just holiday rushing, and my migrane did not start until Wed evening after Christmas was done and I was back to work.

My weight has not budged, at least I know that what Iam eating and with no exercise is enough to maintain my weight, now I just have to exercise and cut back just a tad.

Hope all had a merry christmas, and has a safe and happy new year.  I will post again next week.

Alright. Weighed myself this morning since it's the last day of the year and I am officially at 233 pounds. Not as low as I'd like it to be but it is still a loss.
