I am in Aruba. (I know, dont hate me though)

Anyway, wanted to check in and let Y'all know whats up.

I ate so well for being on vacation I surprised myself already! Things like veggie burgers, veggies, fresh fruit, not much alcohol, no soda, grilled salmon with rice and broccoli and egg whites and yogurt and raw almonds are my staples the past 2 days. The flight here was NUTS due to storms and stuff out of JFK. We are lucky to be here! Weather is great but I am not over doing it in the sun, too hot. I went to the gym and did a weights circuit with hubby and then ran 2 miles. And today I ran 2.5 miles and then went to the pool. I am happy with my progress. IT IS SOOOOO HARD TO RESIST ALL THE TEMPTATION surrounding me though!!!!!!!!!!!! UGH the only thing keeping me going is knowing what I look like in my pink and brown bikini everyday...and what I COULD look like if I behave myself. NO MORE BAKING is my rule, I just cant control myself around that stuff.  I obviously cant weigh myself this week, (or at least not on the same scale) so I will when I get home.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

Hi all,

Well, my official weigh-in dat, Monday, still showed the 4 lbs loss.  That brings me to 245.  For the sake of our challenge and DG's chart, I'll report wherever I am as of Fridays.

The real challenges are coming ahead.  I have no less than 6 gatherings I have to attend between Sunday and 12/14 for the Christmas holidays!!  It just seems like an incredible gaunlet.  I survived a business luncheon yesterday and stuck with salmon, spinach, broccoli and a ceasar salad.  Water and unsweetened tea for drinks.  The rest gorged themselves on fetuccini alfredo, lasagne and bread.  For dessert I had coffee while others ate apple pie alamode and chocolate cake.  I'm going nuts!!!!!

Let's all take this one day, no, one event, at a time.  I'm planning on treating myself on Christmas day with a big piece of apple pie.  My wife makes the best!  Heck, my B-day is next week and I'm not even having cake!!

Be strong everyone!!!!

Go Bert go!  Your willpower is inspirational.  My birthday was Sunday and I didn't have cake.  In fact, I went for a long walk instead.  Keep up the great work!!!

So....how's everyone else doing?  Tomorrow is the day to report in.  It's a tough time of year to lose weight but with a little hard work and a lot of determination, it can be done.

Hi DG,

Well, I took your lead.  I didn't work out this morning like I normally do:sad: but after I had lunch I went for a brisk walk around the campus.  As things turn out, one circle around is a mile and I went 3 times.  It's better than sitting at my desk.  At least I burned some calories today.  I generally don't do this as I have a tendency to sweat easliy but it's so cold here today that I only glistened.  Tonight I'll get some pushups and curls in with the weights.

Happy Birthday and many more!

Wellll...I don't think I'll be weighing in tomorrow. My scale is broken. It's one of those ones where you tap it, and then wait for it to calibrate or whatever, and then weigh...and when I tap it it just gives me a blank screen...:crying:

I might could go to Curves and weigh...but it wouldn't really be worth it, the weighing part I mean, because I always weigh in the morning in pjs so it would definitely show a gain :crying:

Alright, Bert!  Just think...those 3 miles today, another 3 miles tomorrow, another 3 on Friday and the weight will start dropping off.  It's the best birthday present you can give yourself.

Thanks for the birthday wishes.  So...what day is your birthday and how old will you be???

Hi DG,

I'm going to be 56 on Monday.  I'm almost an old guy:grin:  It's tough on the body when you're out of shape and tougher when you've let yourself go for so long but I'm determined!  How about you?  How old are you?

As of this morning I'm down another 2 lbs!!! That brings me to 243 lbs.  I started the challenge at 256 (down 13) and my goal is a total of 50 lbs (since I started in July) by Christmas.  I'm going to do it!!  I only have 3 lbs to go!!  When I lose 100 lbs you'll hear my scream all the way to BAH-TAHN ROOGE!!

Hang in there, Misfit!!!!  The scale is a good indicator of process but it's not the end all and be all.  Remember; if you're working out your building muscle and that weighs more than fat.  Use the scale as a guide but look at how your clothes are fitting and how you generally look and feel.  There's a lot more to all of this than just the numbers on the scale.

Stay strong.  We're all pulling for each other!!!

Alright everyone....it's Thursday again....time to report your weight if you have not done so!!!!

Bert, Congrats on your loss.  You're trucking right along. You'll hit 50# before you know it.  And I'll be listening for that holler when you hit 100#.

I'm 47 years old and as of this morning 2/10ths of a pound away from hitting 50# so you might be hearing a big WHOOOO HOOOOOO tomorrow morning when I hit it.  I started August 1st with a 10# goal per month.

Hope you have a great birthday...you're gonna be over the speed limit now.  Just kidding!

Laugh!  So if I hear somebody yelling, it will be you?  Ok!  I've prepared myself.  Sound does travel well here on the prairie.

My weight has been fluctuating wildly so I've taken an average.  141.6 lbs.

Thanks Bert for the kind words, I needed it today.  I will not give up this time.  I think this site is absolutely wonderful.  Over the years I have wasted so much money on diet aids and now, when I'm down and out (moneywise) I've found the true answer in this site. Crazy! isn't it?  Thank you CPH.

MF,

I know what you mean.  I've been to Weight Watchers (not a bad program), Atkins, water diet, Nutrisystem, etc.  They all worked but the weight came back and the older I got the more difficult, it seemed, to be able to get motivated and find what would work.

I sincerely prayed to our Lord for guidance, focus and motivation because I wanted to be around for my wife, kids and grandkids.  I couldn't do it on my own so I left it to Him.  Then, when I set a date I was going to try and begin again, I came across CPH on the net.  It laid out everything for me; why I gained, how I could lose, the calculators and now the forum.  God answered my prayers and I haven't looked back.

I'll keep you and all of us in my prayers.  Hang in there.  We can do it!!!

Hi! So last week, my first official challenge week I was still at 164lbs. this week I am (so so) pleased to announce my new weight is ...158lbs! A loss of 6lb but even better-I hit the 150's. yayyyyyyy!!!!!!! that leaves me with 8lbs to lose by new years to hit my target of 14lbs.
Good work and good luck everyone :-).
Thanks for sorting out the challenge DG, it's what I think about while I'm exercising it's really good to have a joint goal with others on here

well i lost 1.6lbs this week- its awesome to be losing again. lets see if i can make it a 2lb loss next week.

i now weight 253lbs, still more than i started the challenge at, but hey- at least its now heading in the right direction. i think my new goal for the challenge is to just aim to be lighter than i was when i started- the exact number doesnt matter anymore- so long as i end the challenge lighter than the 249lbs i started with!

I am going to have to withdraw from the challenge.  I have been having chronic stomach problems and they seem to just be getting worse.

Best of luck to the rest of you!

Sassykat,

We should change your avatar... you look to pretty and happy to be sick!

Ironically while I have always struggled with food, only once in my adult life have I been sick with the flu where I didn't feel like eating. I couldn't think about food, and lost 10 pounds!

I hope you are better soon,

That is the lowest I have ever seen! I just hope i can keep it there til Thursday so it will be "official". We had a HUGE lunch today :nono: It was delicious, but I feel kinda uncomfortably stuffed now.

I'm going to start recording my weight from my scale at home. I had been using the scale here at work but because the room where the scale is located at is either locked or occupied, it's tough to use it when I'm ready to use it. Plus depending on what day it is and what I am wearing it isn't very accurate. Wearing jeans compared to wearing slacks will affect my weight. I realized that I need to weigh myself with as little clothes on as possible. I think I may get in a little bit of trouble if I stripped down at work before jumping on the scale.

My weight this morning from home was 237. Impressive, except it's higher than what it normally is without clothes on. I can't use the treadmill because it is in the garage, and my garage is not insulated well and is freakin' freezing!

I'm hoping to get some kind of garage heater so I can use the treadmill even when the weather is really bad. Not sure what I'm going to do about summertime though.

Awww Sassy, I'm sorry you're having stomach problems...I hope you feel better soon.

CodeMonkey, I'm reading about your weighing issues (clothes, less clothes, etc) and cracking up picturing you stripping down to your boxers/briefs at work to weigh.  YIKES.

OK, everybody, it's Wednesday evening here in Baton Rouge.  When I check my computer in the morning, I want to see a bunch of posts with all y'all's weights.  We've still got a few more weeks to go so it's not to late to give it a push....

Hey determinedgal I gave it a heave not a push!  This week the scale showed...........tadaa 201lbs, 3 lbs gone:shock:. I weighed myself about 6 times to make sure and if anything the scale went even a little lower to 200, but it hovered between 200.5 and 201 mainly so it is definately 201 lbs. That is 9lbs in 4 weeks:cool: and if anything I ate even more this last week.  But I did eat less on my cheat days as well.  Anyway, I'm ecstatic.

Hi DG,

Well, as of this morning I'm in at 242 which is a 1 lb loss from last week (243).  I'm within 3 lbs of hitting that 50 lb mark and I can see it from here.  It's been several weeks since I've shown a plateau so I think this 1 lb loss is a reflection of that.

I'm still working hard and have gotten thourgh 5 of the six social challenges I mentioned I had this week.

Theresa, terrific news!!!  Keep it up girl!  I know what you mean about getting on the scale several times.  Mine's a dinosaur.  I should get a new one.

Sassy, I'm sorry you're feeling badly.  Peter's right; you are a very pretty lady.  Please feel better.

I'm at 235 as of this morning.

Yesterday my boss walked up to my desk and I was working while munching on baby carrots. So he had to poke fun at me for it. Not too long after that a co-worker approached me and asked if it was helping me lose weight. So I told him how much I had lost so far.

We had a major ice storm on Sunday night/Monday morning, some people here still don't have electricity. A lot of power lines were snapped from frozen tree branches or just ice on the lines. My neighbor's lines had so much ice on them that they were close to touching the ground. We were about ready to head to McDonalds since we couldn't cook but apparently everyone else thought the same thing. I guess it's a good thing, we came home and found stuff that is healthier and didn't need to be cooked.

Code Monkey,

I don't want to slam your boss but anyone who pokes fun as someone trying to lose weight is toxic and they probably haven't had to deal with it.

I make it a point to tell friends at work who I know are supportive.  It helps to hold me accountable when they ask me each week how much I've lost and they cheer me on.  Surround yourself with these folks.

You're doing great!!!  Keep it up and drive safely out there!

Thanks for your reply pbf4326e (I'm really curious to know about your nickname, heh). I don't think he was teasing me because of what I was eating, I think it's just because I was doing something different. It must also be a guy thing, I went on a 4x4 run with my group a couple weeks ago and they did the same thing. At our next meeting they were imitating me munching on cauliflower while on the trail. They also poked fun when the Jeep I was riding in had snapped a u-joint so I grabbed the camera and went hiking up the trail so I could take pictures. I didn't realize I had gone that far though. They called and let me know they were on their way and I could hear their engines, but it took a while for them to get to me. Passenger in the first Jeep said "Fancy meeting you here!" and later on said "Did you have a nice hike or something?!?"

What was really cool is I could have kept going but chose to stop and wait for them. I think next time I will!

Anyway, it doesn't discourage me. It keeps me going. After a while this "new" thing won't be so new. Plus now they don't call me "Crash" anymore (yes, that was my Jeep).

WOW!  You're a little rough on the vehicles.  I looked at the YouTube link you sent.  That looks like a lot of fun less the vehicle totalings.

You know, I'll bet all those who poke fun at you are possibly a wee bit jealous.  When folks see someone with a goal and the determination, will, plan and discipline to achieve it, it points out their own shortcomings.

The nickname, pbf4326e is just a user ID I used before so when I signed up to the forum I just threw that it.  Bert is just fine.
