First off, Hoofprints, is that YOU?  You look great....slimmer and younger.  Wow!  You go girl!

Everyone seems to be doing well.  I'll post update today, for sure.  As for me, I remain the same weight this week.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

My husband is the one who said..."take a picture, you've made huge changes" that was during one of my depressed moments when I still couldn't walk and felt like all the arm and ab workouts in the world done from a wheelchair were not working. So last weekend I took that picture for him. Did I mention I have the perfect husband?
You guys are all making me crave turkey with your holiday stories...:chicken:

Ahhghh, I'm late. I'm really sorry. I did weigh-in on Thursday, just didn't get by to post it.

So, officially: 135.6 That's a .2 lb gian right? No sweat. I mean that much of an increase could just be error, especially with my finnicky scale.

NOW starts the hardest part though. Chocolate, candy canes, hot chocolate, cookies...and only twenty six days til my brithday!! Cake and ice cream...oh boy. Hopefully I can do okay.

I feel like I did well on thanksgiving. Had everything I wanted, but not enormous portions.

Keep it up everyone!!

My current weight - 245.5 lbs

My goal (for the challenge) - 235 lbs

That's a loss of 10 lbs, which I think it definately achievable over these next few weeks.

Good luck to all of you, with your goals!

Hi,
I don't know if it's too late to join in  but I'd like to if possible.
My start weight is 164 lbs by January 1st I'd like to be 150lbs!! So a loss of 14lbs.

I'm ambitious (and I've only just recently started my weightloss regime so should have that initial burst to help me out :-s)

so I did the unthinkable...this morning, before breakfast, I weighed myself. (GASP!!!!!!!!)

I knew I had probably gained a couple pounds back from when I lost the weight over the last year, but I had no idea I would have gained 10 pounds!!:shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

I am now :crying: 145.5 pounds as of this morning, and feeling pretty #%@&! about it.

So, there is only one thing to do! Throw out all junkfood in my house, enlist the help of family and friends and get to my goal!!

My ultimate goal is 125. I suppose my goal by January is 137. This is a MAJOR setback for me. I am almost at my heaviest weight ever again.

Alright!!!  Four new "contestants."  The more, the merrier!  Just make sure I have your beginning weight and goal weight for January 1 and report in each Thursday.

Also, I've noticed from reading the diaries that some folks are reporting their weights in their diaries but forgetting to post here.  Now...you don't want me to have to go searching, do you?  I can't because doing so won't burn any calories.  ha.  So remember to report here!!!  Thanks.

Everyone keep up the good work.  Thank goodness Thanksgiving is over and all those leftovers are gone.

Hi DG,

I just received info from CPH on the challenge and I'd like to get in.  I know I'm late but I've been charting my weight since mid-July and I'll add my numbers in.

I started in July at 290 lbs.  I've been exercising and eating right and have lost 41 lbs to date.  As of Nov. 1 I was 256 lbs and as of today 249 lbs for a Nov. loss of 7 lbs.  I even lost 1 lb. over Thanksgiving!!

My goal is to have a cumulative loss of 50 lbs by Jan 1 so I have to lose another 9 lbs.

It's so much easier knowing that you're working with others toward a common goal.  Let's all do it!!!

Did anyone watch "The Biggest Loser" last night?  Those little facts they share always get me.  Last night one of the trivia questions was, by 2015 what % of Americans will be overweight?  The answer was 75%!  Soooo...Only 25% will not be overweight.

It would seem the food here is not safe to eat any more.

That is kinda scary. But then again by the time 2015 gets here the standards will probably have changed. But! $10 says that by 2015 i will more then likely STiLL be in the "overweight/obese" classifications. How sad. But im trying. Ill try and post my stuff on here again. I havent lost like anything in the past few that i havnt posted. sorry bout that

monkey809,

Thanks for posting that instead of just slipping away!

We all need to do what we need to do at the time. Life is always changing. Do what's best for you now.

I've about given up on losing this month myself, but I'm encouraged by others that are actually posting their gains! I figure if these people had just given up, they might be gaining much more. Me too.

Please be sure to read the last paragraph of this week's newsletter, too!

And a special welcome to all the new folks who joined our challenge this week.

We're almost halfway thru the challenge.  How are you doing?  If you're just maintaining, don't beat yourself up.  That's a good thing, because it's a tough time of year to lose!  If you're losing weight, BRAVO!  If you're gaining, step away from the plate.  NOW!

HI All,

I have finally lost...............1 lb...........at least I am not at a standstill any longer.  It will be so good when I can exercise again, so that the weight really falls off.  Hopefully, my asthma will be better next week, feels like the chest cold is finally breaking up and going away.

Down 1lb, that puts me at 220.  Boy, do I have a long way to go.

I finally broke 240, now weighing in at 239. Another ten pounds to go.

I don't know if I'll be able to lose ten pounds by the end of December though. My weight loss has been a bit slow lately.

Hello Everyone!  I hope everyone is happy and in good spirits!

I've come to do my duty and report that my weight is 142.6 lbs.  down .4 from 143 lbs.  It would be very awesome if next week I could report 141.8.  I've been having rebelious naughty:devil: thoughts and eating chocolate covered cherries and cookies.  Tisk, tisk!  I go through this at times.  Oh well.  As long as my healthy goals outlast the naughty thoughts I should be fine.

I'd like to say welcome to all the new folks!:rainbow:

so I wasn't going to even weigh myself being that I am so disgusted with gaining back the weight and that I JUST started this challenge Monday...but since you were all weighing yourselves and posting regardless of gains and losses, I decided to. Its not a huge deal but the scale said 145.0 pounds today. On Monday and Tuesday it was 145.5 pounds...so its a half a pound gone. Not too shabby.

Thanks for starting this challenge DG! Who knows where I could have been if I had not weighed myself and found out the horrible news. It would have been much worse down the road. Procrastination is not good. I found this out the hard way.

Yeah, I saw that as well.

There's something in Yahoo news too. It says that 33.3 percent of men and 35.3 percent of women are considered obese: news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071128/ap_on_he_me/obesity_rates;_ylt=AvFp3WmMB2HUk_LL9phajcms0NUE

Hrm...

Well...

135.8

It's not what I want, but probably what I deserve. I am making progress though. Drinking more water, eating healthier lunches...it's after school snacks, dinner, and evening snacks that are pulling me down.

Well, that's still below 136 at least. Barely, barely, but still...

Many congratulations to those of you who are losing!!! I am so impressed!!

Christmas parties are about to start...yikes!! Save me from the delicious high calorie unhealthy foooooddddd...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well, i am re4ally quite confused.  this is the best i have been for quite sometime... i think i will lay blame on the fact that it is almost TTOM, i only slept for about 5 hours (for some reason, that tends to affect my wieght on the scale in a bad way)... anyway, yesterday i weighed in at 118 ( i think i was deyhdrated,so i didn't post that as my accurate weight).  today i at just about 121.  i really don't understand.  unless the fat free chips i was eating last night were mixed up with full fat ones and i consumed way more cals than i calculated.  hhmmm.  not too ticked, as there has got to be a reasonable explination, but seriously, i really wanted to at least report being stable.
this is rather anoying, though...:dizzy:

Well, it's Friday.  I got in to the challenge earlier this week and had lost 1 lb over Thanksgiving for a total of 41 lbs. since July 16th.  Here are the stats.

7/16/07 - 290

11/1/07 - 254

11/26/07 - 249

I got on this morning and showed an additional 4 lbs. lost for a new weight of 245.  I've been averaging 2.2 lbs/wk and when I weighed in on Monday (my official weigh in day) I only lost 1.  With Thanksgiving and then taking my daugther our for dinner last Sunday for her B-day, I may have had more salt than usual and that may have accounted for the 1 lb loss.  At any rate, as of today, I'm 245.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I'll report my "official" weight on Monday and who knows, I may be up again.  The important thing is that the trend is downward.

Keep strong everyone!  It's so great to know we're all doing this together.

Bert

Well, my report won't be so positive.    I had to go back and check to see where I started.    It was at 174.6, and a couple of times I've been up over the 180 mark....as high as 182.6 at one point.   I am currently at 177.6, but that is still up 3 lbs from where I started. :crying:     This might be a "try not to gain 10 lbs. challenge" for me.

Hisgal,

Do you think this was just a Thanksgiving thing?  I know that a combination of eating too many things with salt and a break in my exercise schedule can put be up quickly.
