Hey Theresa-

You're not alone, I didn't lose anything either. I can't say I'm really surprised.  I snacked too much, ate at a buffet etc., etc.  This is so hard for me because my husband is like the devil  when it comes to my new lifestyle.  I think he's trying to sabatoge me.  Maybe he's afraid I'll turn into one hot chick!

this week 159 lbs.  0 lbs. lost:crying:

Absolutely Theresa!  The one thing we won't do is give up.  I just have to learn better portion control and I have to start making better food decisions. Sounds easier than done however.

Welll...I was 135.4 this morning. So, that's almost back up to my original weight. But still I am happy because we ate out last night, and usually I am much higher after an eat-out night...I think that shows that I did well, and 135.4 is still one of the lowest numbers i have ever seen.

I think my goal for this challenge will ALSO be not to weigh in ABOVE 136...

Weighed in yesterday at 126.8lb, a gain of 1.4lb. Weighed in today at 127.6lb. I should probably punish myself and declare 127.6lb as my official weight, so a 2.2lb gain this week.

Arrrghh. It's my fault, even with the excuse of not being able to exercise because of my operation, I've eaten so much rubbish, and I know why. I've been unhappy and terribly stressed this week. But hopefully today my tutor will be happy with what I've achieved and won't give me an extension. An extension is my worst nightmare, then I'd have to begin a new [pretty hefty] project while finishing the rubbish I've just been doing.

Anyway, this isn't my diary ;) So congratulations to everyone who's managed to lose or at least maintain this week :D

Sadly I didnt loose anything this week, but I have been on a wine and cake binge this week, so it was hardly surprising.

I weighed yesterday but sorry I was too tired to post.
Weight 233 with my jeans, and belt buckle
I worked out upper body and abs until Wednesday, when the Physiotherapist taught me to WALK again. Yes! look out I'm back on my feet. I'm only allowed 10 minutes on my bike at no resistence but I have lots of leg strenthening excercises to focus on.
Thanks for this challenge there was one night I really focused on this challenge to stop myself from succumbing to the "potato chip monster"

BLACKDIAMOND....

You can do it!  We are all standing behind you and cheering you on!  Try and think positive...if you do that then only positive things will happen!  Losing weight is the hardest thing in the world to do...I know, Im still there!  Today is a new day...start fresh!  Forget about saying you cant because once you convince yourself that you cant do this then you will believe it and you will never be able to do it!  Dont think about your long term goal and the amount of weight you have to lose...Take everyday on its own.  Set little goals for yourself...those are much easier to achieve.  If you do that you will see results!  Thats what I do...I set daily and weekly goals for myself and its much easier to reach my goal than to keep thinking of the total amount of weight I have to lose!  We are all behind you 100%!!!!!

Blackdiamond,

No way!  One of the rules of this challenge is no one can drop out.  You lost .8 the first week.  That's great.   Listen to Amadore.  She is right.

I hope Scoobees and some of the long timers read this post and respond to you.  There was a time when I was down in the dumps because my scale didn't move.  Well, she gently explained NSV (non scale victories) to me and encouraged me not to give up.  And you know what?  She was right!

We all have a bad day, a bad week, or yes, even a bad month or season.  The biggest battle is in your head.  Once you tell yourself it's ok you slipped, then you've won the biggest battle.

I'm here with my hand extended to you to climb back up on the wagon with us.  I know there are others who feel the same way.

Come on Blackdiamond, hang in there.  Please!  Please write back today.  I'm going to go see if you have a diary right now so I can write you there too.

Blackdiamond !! Dont give up Like amadore said were all cheering you on !

youve had great words of wisdom off determindgal and amardore ! please dont give up !

You lost 0.8 in the first week !! that is brilliant !

Honestly if you read back through some of my earlier posts here you will not believe its the same person !!

In the past ive only lost 0.2 - 0.4 a week and for weeks at a time ive not lost anything at all you have to keep going keep pushing its not easy but dont think of it as a big effort think of it as a new you !

I know your going through a pretty weird time at the moment ! but anytime you need to chat just post in the teen thread and i'll reply as soon as possible because i no my posts can be a bit spaced out xD and CG is also about for a chat if  im sure !

And all the lovely people in this thread and about the forum can give you lots of advice on excercise or where you might be going wrong with eating im sure ! thats what were all here for !

Please dont give up though =)

Peter wrote: My starting weight will be 186.5 and my goal 182.5, 4 pounds for the month. I started with the Halloween Challenge October 1 at 192.5, so that will be 10 pounds for the two months.

(My actual weight today, November 1 was 188, but I'm using 186.5 because that's what I weighed the last few days. I think it was the salt in last night's pizza!)

DeterminedGal,

I was going to PM you and ask you to quietly drop my name from future posts. But after reading through this thread I decided as poorly as I've been doing I don't want to drop out. The holidays start this week with my daughter and a couple grandkids coming to town for Thanksgiving, and I need a challenge so I don't gain weight.

I got off to a bad start and got discouraged when my weight went up. I was starting at 186.5 as I noted above, but I think that was a false reading. I had cholesterol and other tests at the end of October and I was really eating well as I was afraid my doctor might put me on meds. Turned out fine.

But I think 188 was a more realistic assessment of my weight. And it hasn't gotten any lower.

So maybe you can edit my starting weight to 188 so I don't feel like I've gained!

Put 188 for November 8 and 15 and I'll see how much better I can do by the 22nd.

Thanks,

Peter:monkey:

Black Diamond, I am glad that you decided to at least make a diary, hopefully you will continue in our challenge.  As you can see, I have not lost any weight at all since the challenge started.  I have had a lot of slips and some really hard days, but, each day that I keep my log of food and exercise is a step in the right direction, even if I don't make my final goal.  At least I am learning what to do and what not to do......and someday, this challenge will have taught me something and I will soon  be me, the me I want to be.  Healthy and thinner.  Hang in there, we all have your back, and everyone here is wonderful.

uh oh, I didn't even weigh in yesterday.  Planning for my trip, I am leaving tomorrow after work and have to drive for 10 hours...

At least I am going to see my family.  I don't think I can stick to my diet this weekend, with someone else cooking my food...

My husband and I are going to try and get to the gym though.

I weigh 143 lbs now.  I have been having stomach problems.  It seems like I am having problems digesting my food, but it may just be a virus.  I've had a tummy ache for about 2 weeks now.

Weight loss has not been something I have time for.  It seems lots of others are in the same boat as I am however.  Sorry for not posting sooner.  Life has been crazy.  Our fridge quit working, we did just get it repaired, just in time so I can make a Thanks Giving dinner!  And we were out of town for a few days.  I have been thinking about my appearance weight wise and I am not happy about it.  On one hand I think, looks should not be important, but it definately is a motivator.  And then it doesn't help when people around me tell me that I do not need to lose weight that I look fine.  The truth is that I am over weight and even if I look fine to them, I don't look fine to myself and I am still not as healthy as I would be if I lost the extra weight.  I have circulation problems, I have problems exercising and I have arthritis....     Aah, so many obstacles...And how are we suppose to lose weight during the holidays?  How?

I don't expect answers I just came to complain while I posted my weigh in.

I hope the rest of you are having better luck!

A little Thanksgiving poem for all of you:

May your stuffing be tasty,

May your turkey be plump,

May your pototoes and gravy have nary a lump.

May your yams be delicious,

and your pies take the prize,

and may your Thanksgiving dinner

stay off of your thighs!

missfit!  Just wanted you to know this made me laugh out loud!  Sometimes I think of my husband as a  too!  The funny thing is we are both trying to lose weight, but he is onery as a !  He has struggled also though and probably gained a few pounds these last few days.  We went out of town to do some Christmas shopping as we live in a very rural area with very few stores.  And we ate out every meal, including a buffet.  The kids like those buffets so much and we enjoy them too.

Best of luck to you - I'll say a prayer for your husband to not be as onery as mine!

Weight today was 207 lbs not bad considering we went to an all you can eat buffet this weekend and we have lots of goodies around the house.  Still, I would like to make it under 200 lbs by the end of the year.

Thanks for the reminder DeterminedGal.  My weight is still going to be 143.  I have lots of cooking to do today so I know it will probably stay the same.

Also, I was watching the news and they were sharing some neat little facts that I do feel compelled to relay since this is a weight loss forum.

The average person gains 7 pounds between Thanks Giving and the New Year.   A person has to walk 3 miles to burn off one serving of mashed potatoes with gravy.

Can you beleive it?  I don't want an extra 7 pounds!  But I want to enjoy the holidays also.  A lot of these foods we only prepare once or twice a year.  The problem I guess is all the leftovers that need to be eaten in the days after.

Happy Holidays everybody!

Sassykat, I was watching The Biggest Loser (I don't know why, I hate the show but it's like watching a car wreck) and they had some interesting facts on there as well. Like a big spoonful of cranberry sauce from the can has enough calories as 7 or 8 chocolate donuts. They had others too, but I can't remember them all.

Fortunately my wife did some internet research and found some good recipes that were lower in calories. We are going to try it and see how it goes. Yesterday I whipped out the food scale and measured everything. I think I will do the same for my thanksgiving dinner (fortunately we're staying home and no extended families will be there).

I'm back down to 241 again. The past few weeks I would gain weight on the weekends because I'm not on the computer keeping track of what I have consumed and dining out with friends/family.

I need a cell phone that is web enabled.

Wow CodeMonkey, you have lost a lot of weight.  Way to go!

Actually watching "The Biggest Loser" inspires me quite a bit.  I know there are some people that disagree with the extreme weight loss tactics, but I need something to inspire me and it does a good job.  That is the  only time that I actually think about exercising is when I watch that show.

The sad truth is there are not a lot of options out there for convenient healthy food, so if we are out and about, like on the weekends, we are bound to consume extra calories.  Our family has the same problem.

Oh well.  Happy Pumkin Pie!

I will admit, the one thing I like about The Biggest Loser is I will go to my garage and walk on the treadmill while watching that show and not think of an excuse to leave. TBL and any NBA game seems to motivate me into staying on that treadmill. I don't know why, I can't play basketball. ;-P

I was bummed at who was voted off yesterday.

For the next 4 days I plan on recording every single bit that enters my mouth. Usually I'd log what I eat at work and forget about it when I'm away from work, but that will not happen. My goal is to get below 240 by Monday. The further, the better. Well, not too far.

Sunday night I thought I was being sooo good by eating a slice of apple pie rather than pumpkin. Found out yesterday I was mistaken and should have chosen the pumpkin. I want to get it to memory which foods I should stay away from.

I am down another 1.2 lbs this week for a total of 3.7 lbs so far... Since I am Canadian and am not celebrating Thanksgiving, I probably have an advantage over most of you this coming week.

Happy Thanksgiving to all....Enjoy without guilt!

Start weight 235
Goal weight 219

Todays weight 226.6

I love this challenge it really motivated me last night at the restaurant, I special ordered my small salad (dressing on side) with a poached chicken breast on top. My friends all had Fish and chips and beef dips and pasta's. I am so motivated by my own willpower !
Thanks for the challenge .... this is awesome. I'm sure glad it's not Thanksgiving in Canada .... I can avoid the feast.

I was hoping to lose at least a pound before today. This morning I weighed myself at 241.

Oh well. Better than gaining.

Oh well. Better than gaining.

I'm sticking to my goal and since I started this October 1, half way through the Halloween Challenge at 192.5, my three month goal is 10 lb.

Also I'm building a lot of muscle so I'm actually doing better than the scale shows, trading fat for muscle.
