Some people cheat more then others and some are just cheaters at heart...but eventually, I believe, we all cheat; whether it was on the grueling math test in 5th grade, or on a mate we were never really interested in, in the first place. We all cheat...and if you've ever been (or currently are) on a diet, I'll bet any money you cheated at least once!

But it's ok, so have I and millions of others. That brings me to the purpose of this post...Confess! Confess! You'll feel better once you do and not to mention some one might be able to give you a tip on how to dodge temptation so there'll be fewer repeats.

Let the confessions begin! I'll start:

Today at lunch they were handing out donuts for freshmen and I had not 1 but two jelly filled! Yikes! I don't care what diet your on, donuts are naughty, naughty (unless your name is Homer Simpson)

Oh yeah. I cheat quite a bit but I am working on it. When I was on WeightWatchers I didn't record everything.

Yesterday I grabbed some pretzels and ate them. Yeah, I could have recorded them, but I didn't. Why? Because I didn't know how much I ate. I was just snacking away at them while watching TV. When I was done I thought "#%@&!! How many of those did I eat?"

On Saturday I had a bunch of pizza, but I did admit that yesterday.

I don't look at it as cheating, so I eat what I want and try to keep it in moderation.  Because I count my calories, if I want a donut, I eat it and then make other adjustments, either exercising more that day or eating less later in the day.

Interesting point. I suppose if you do that it doesn't count as cheating, at least for what your trying. I don't know if that would work for other people, because depending on certain factors, even 1 donut will manage to crash the day so for some it's best to steer clear. But I'm glad it works for you.

I have to say 1seekspie, that I love your login name!  I too, seek pie and so I feel we have something in common.  I searched to see if you had a journal so I could tell you that, but sadly I couldn't find one.  Welcome to the forum!

By the way, I am a big believer in forgiving oneself because of the dangers of giving up.  So I don't like to think in terms of "cheating"  In life there should be spontaneity and there should be treats occasionally.  When the treat is over, then it's back to healthy eating again.  It took me a while to overcome that frustration of feeling like I "messed up."

Hope you decide to start a journal.  Welcome and best wishes to you!

That's good advice! We do need more people like you in such a stressful world...

Oh and I'm glad you like my username . Truth be told, I don't actually seek pie very much but the day I made up that username, I had to do a project that involved pictures of certain foods and for some reason when I was organizing photos, I thought, you know what this collage needs? A good piece of pie! I kept thinking of that and when I joined another site (YouTube) the name just sort of stuck, so from then on out, I registered my usernames for ALL sites as 1seekspie.

But when my mom decides to lapse on her own diet and buy a little treat, I usually make her get bananna cream.

And it's cool to see a local on Caloriesperhour! I too am from Colorado!!!

Anyway, I will keep you posted, thanks for your concern and I think I might start a journal !

Great topic!

I have never been good at cheating with food. It's not that I'm perfect, but that I have trouble living with being less than perfect about something I do.

So what does this mean in practice?

It means that the history of my attempts to diet have either been very successful or complete failures. If I go off my diet and eat a candy bar, I eat the store!

There is a middle ground between being bad and being perfect. It's called excellence, and it can include a little cheating now and then.

I'm just not good at excellence.

Whenever I buy fat-free cream in a can (like Redi-Whip) I put it on my low-cal hot chocolates and I don't log it.

ahhh ><

well I guess I cheated in many ways here, nooo

Today I got home from school and I was planning to eat something that wasn't junk food!  But I was like "heck with my diet" and I had peanut butter crackers, mixture of tuna, rice, canned corn (gee thanks bro...-.-)  and 2 pieces of chocolate fudge cream mini cake things (you know the ones that look like twinkies but are chocolate and cream together?) ahh I feel like a loser and a quitter

And the morning started off with 2 not 1 really sweet cupcakes that my brother didnt bother to finish at lunchtime!! wah><  not a good start, I know i know!!

but I feel better to confess=/ thanks for the topic, because it's brilliant^^

better to vent it out with words than stuffing your face like I did >< hehe...

I slipped today and had a caramel frappe from my favorite coffee place. It was loaded with sugar but it was so good I couldn't help myself. Oh well it really is my first slip since I started my diet so hopefully it will be one of a very few of them I have haha.

Today's woes

1. 1/2 oatmeal cookie

2. 2.5 slices of terrimisu(sp?) cake

3. Lots of honey on my apples

4. Cheese sandwich this morning.

>.<;; Amazing that mid day I was down a pound, and now I've gained about 5. CRAZY!

Ug....yesterday went really bad!

My morning started out kind of crummy because I woke up late and practically had to inhale my breakfast. I thought that would be ok, but apparently when you eat too fast, your brain never really registers that you ate at all.

So, that led me to feel hungy all morning. Wasn't it just my luck that donut holes, cookies, candy-trails-mix, and brownies were bought in to celebrate the start of newspaper? I had about three of each item (the cookies were miniatures and the brownies weren't very big either, but you get the idea...)

Then, I went home and tried to restrain myself from snacking but I had four mini-candy-bars, plus a piece of white chocolate bark, and spoonfuls of cream cheese and peanut butter. This was on top of everything I normally eat.

I'd like it to be known I had to take some medicine (for a tiny virus) that made me very drowsy, and I'd like to think very hungry, so there in lies why I could not control my eating very well!

Yeah I cheated a lot today. I came home from school and went straight to the freezer and got a bowl of ice cream, which I followed up with a large tub of yogurt and lastly a bowl of cereal. It wasn't TOO bad, but seeing as how I haven't worked out today (yet) it feels like a lot.

Ug, I did, too! I went to all the little sweet things. It's funny, I could easily give up chips, burgers, fries, you name it. But I'm a sucker for sweets. I ate two reses cups, two handfuls of hershey's chocolate chips, a kitkat, candycorn, and went slightly overboard on some peanut butter and honey. :nono:

I did ride my bike two and from school today, which probably amounts to a little over 40 minutes worth of good exercise....but definitely not enough to cancel out anything. Alas, tomorrow is another day.....

I have also found out that knowing myself in terms of what I am likely to eat and what I would not like has been a good starting point.

I set goals that I know I can truely work towards reaching. For example if I used to eat burgers 4-times a week and I need to go on a diet, I will look for one the dosn't necessarily require me to stop eating burgers all together. That way I am less likely to "cheat". Hope this make sense.

There was a lot of tension between my parents today so I ate three bowls of cheese puffs! When I realized I simply couldn't stop at one, I also had a snickers bar and a triple chocolate nestle drumstick :dizzy: But I haven't eaten anything bad in six hours, I'm back on the wagon.

Oh, I like this post.... :) Ok, so my confession for today is one slice of pizza and a mozzarella stick. I knew better and did it anyway. No excuse for it. Tomorrow I will make sure I have my lunch ready before the kiddies lunch is done. Maybe that will help with temptations.

Doesn't cheese have small levels of some sort of enzyme that aids sleepiness? I think I read that somewhere :P I mentioned in my diary that after midnight I got to Tumblring and I saw pics of a chocolate cake with rainbow sprinkles...so I made one. I've had about four pieces with sugar-free caramel drizzled on top, not to mention a bag of popcorn and about 10 Kisses and popcorn chicken and fries and a sugarless klondike bar.....:dizzy: But I exercised, so we can probably knock off /one/ piece of cake...

Well, at least you exercised...If I didn't do that I would weigh so much it wouldn't even be funny.

For my chocolate cravings I got a bag of milk chocolate chips and put them in the freezer. Works great. They are frozen so I have to suck on them instead of chomping away and usually just a couple do it for me. So low calories that way.

It's so hard not to cheat. But you have to have incredible self-discipline. I say just choose GOOD, healthy low-calorie choices that you will eat long-term, that will cut down on cravings. And when I do have cravings, I just try to either go to sleep or eat something healthy like carrots or fruits. I will, however, reward myself at the end of the week for my progress with a couple pieces of chocolates.

I scuffed it down as if it was going to disappear out of my hand... that treat cost me 800 calories extra!!!!!! today, I am sticking to my 1350 calories and gonna run my azz off!

For me it was a week of total dietary hades.
I was in the hospital saying good-bye my grandmother, living out of a vending machine and hospital cafe. No exercise, little sleep. I just didn't care. I kept having nightmares of regaining not just all my weight but more in really cartoonish proportions.
