Are there any other pedometer addicted people here ? lol

Anyway I shoot for 10000 steps a day and was wondering if anyone else wanted to join me in posting in this thread their steps for the day. We could encourage each other and maybe even loose some weight!!

Wow, that is a lot of steps! You need to change your ticker from a snail to a rabbit!

Or roadrunner.

Rock on!

If anyone wants to join and just put their walking times that's okay too!!

Yesterday I could not get much walking in and by the end of the day I was too tired to get to 10000.

So Thursdays steps were 8943

Do you mind if I join you now, although it's the middle of the month? 10 000 steps are a wonderful starting point but I am going to count only those steps that I make when I am out and not the indoor ones.

So, 15 days till the end of the month - 150 000 steps to go. Sounds like a piece of cake (the main campus of my univerisity is quite far from where I live and the other campus is actually over 6 km from home). I just hope it won't be too cold.

Great job keep it up!!!

Well my computer died so I couldn't post but as of November 28 I did 158.3 miles. My goal was 150 for the month. My pedometer broke so I need to go get another one now.

This week's Newsweek magazine suggests 10,000 steps a day as a great way to lose weight!

I think I'll try for that again, too.  I'm not sure how soon I'll get close...good thing the orthopedist didn't know that a) my daughter has a horse and I help her do a lot of related things and b) a housewife does a lot of walking

3 more weeks until I can do "real" exercise!!!!

Hi,

Interested to know if doing the 10,000 steps is actually helping anyone to lose weight.  I read somewhere that it doesn't matter how quick you do the steps and they can be done at different times throughout the day, for instance, 500 steps here and there.

I hope you will reply.

It's usually measured by wearing a pedometer throughout the day so it doesn't matter when or even how you take them.

this one's easy.  I'm a supervisor at a retail store.  On average I walk between 15,000 and 20,000 steps a day.

How do I convert miles to steps.  I am doing 3.6 to 4.5 miles per day fitness walking.  How many steps is that?

You have to figure out how many inches each of your steps is, then divide that into the number of inches in a mile! (63,360)

Or measure a 1/10 of a mile with your car odometer, then walk that distance and count your steps.

Let me know if you need help with the math.

Another easy way to figure it out is to measure your stride.  Get your feet wet and walk with a normal stride on your patio or driveway and measure your wet foot prints.  My normal stride is about 2.5 feet.  That works out to 2,112 steps per mile.

I'm always up for this challenge. I wear my pedometer every chance I get.

I bet you can guess what I'm wearin' now...

There's a new 10,000 steps a day challenge for 2008, so I thought it best to close this older one.

Please join the January 2008 10,000 Step Challenge and start counting those steps!
