Anyone interested in joining me in a challenge to hold your calories down to a specific number for one week?

I'm going to set my goal to be a weekly total of 10,500 (~1500 per day), starting tomorrow, March 22, 2012, through next Wednesday night.  That should be a 1 pound drop for my stats.

You can start later if you like.  Just post to join the challenge and maybe we can keep each other accountable.

It's only one week.  We can do this!

Good job Nancy, looks like a good challenge.  I may try to start this on Monday as I am going out of town this weekend, eating out every meal I just hope to keep each meal below 1500 cals.

That's great James.  Hope you can join Monday.

Almost caved at 9pm and had pizza rolls, but didn't because I'd have to post it here.:nono:

Day 2: Dairy Queen chicken salad (550), cottage cheese (100), sf applesauce (50), chicken (150), cabbage(40), mashed potatoes (160), cheese(170), oyster crackers(40), butter(170).

Total: 1430 calories

(Remaining for the rest of the week: 7860, or an average of ~1570/day.)

Day 3: Pretty much the same as Day 2, except substitute pudding for cottage cheese. Too much pudding.

Total: 1560 calories

(Remaining for the rest of the week: 6300, or an average of ~1575/day.)

Today will be tough because I visit my mother every Sunday and she has cookies and banana bread all over the house, out where you can see it and get to it easily. Managed to skip the cookies and bread but substituted jelly beans.:nono: Sitting on 980 and it's only 2pm. Guess I'll probably have to make up for today on Monday & Tuesday.

Will update final total later.

ETA:
The day turned out OK after all. Watched some of the golf match on TV. (Is tiger back?) Went to the store and then did my hair (perm). This killed most of the afternoon and evening, so only added a big salad and some peanuts to the above.  Only 3 more days.

Day 4: Total: 1390 calories

(Remaining for the rest of the week: 4910, or an average of ~1640/day.)

Hey Nancy, you are doing good on this challenge.  I am going to attempt this but just for 5 days as I know the coming weekend will be hard to count calories.  Goal is to stay below 1500 calories per day, total 7500 for the week.  Doing this to undo what I did this past weekend and also to prepare for the coming weekend.

Day 1 = 1367 so far, will update if this changes.  6133 remaining for the week.

Sounds good James!   Five days will pass in no time.

Today I blew it!! Ice cream, potato chips and a ham and cheese sub were the culprits.:pig:

Day 5
: 1950 calories

This is just barely below maintenance. But I think I can still recover by Wednesday.

(For the remaining 2 days: 2960, or an average of ~1480/day.)

Day 2 = 1311, 4822 remaining.  Had a bad headache this morning so did not eat much before lunch.  Starting 3rd shift tonight, will see how the next few days go.

Wow, James, 1311 is really good!  That must be way below maintenance for you. Only 3 more days.

Eggs(200), wheat toast(150), cheese(170), crackers(60), chicken(150), graham cracker(70), pudding(220), hard candy(80), coolwhip(100), rest of chips(270).

Not particularly healthy, but made it under the limit....barely.

Day 6
: 1470 calories
Tomorrow I only need to keep it under 1490.  I can do this!

Thanks Nancy, I needed a few days like that to make up for what I did to myself over the weekend.  You are doing great, on track to meet your weekly goal.

Day 3 = 1604, 3218 remaining (1609/day).  I think I can do this.

Hope the change in shift doesn't mess you up.   I keep a jar of peanuts around, and when I start to feel hungry I pop 4 or 5 of them.  The trick is to stop at 5.   And, yes, I count peanuts down to the half.

Today: meatloaf(300),peas(60),corn(60), lima beans(330),cabbage(60),potato(180),butter(100), lettuce(40),salad dressing(120),crackers(60), pickles(60),peanuts(60).

Day 7
: 1420 calories. I made it.

At the stroke of midnight I may raid the refrigerator, get into the pizza rolls, and count them on tomorrow's total.  They've been nagging at me.  (Just kidding)

I'll check back to see how you're doing.  Good luck!

Great Job Nancy, you did it, enjoy the pizza rolls, you deserve them.

Day 4 = 1554, 1664 remaining.  This challenge has been just what I needed, have already lost the weight gained from last weekend plus 2 additional pounds.  Just noticed a typo in my last post should have been 3218 cals remaining for the week.

That's great James!   Only one more day.   Don't quit now.

My weight was down this morning just about a pound from when I started (actually 2, but  one of those was probably water).

Day 5 = 1616, I did it, I think.  Cooked some fish for dinner, fresh bass and crappie filets that I caught fishing with my Dad earlier in the week.  According to My Fitness Pal that put my daily total at 1516 and I threw in another 100 cals just to be safe.  Will see the results of my week tomorrow on the scale.

Congratulations, James!   Hope you see a drop on the scales today.

That fish sounds good.   We have a pond with crappie, bass, bream (sp?)and a rare catfish.  All are pretty good eating, but crappie and bass are best, IMO.  Don't have time to catch them.
