That's four months, that means 1.63 pounds a week, and/or 6.5 pounds a month. That's doable.
I am recording everything I do (eating, exercising) on paper, and an online journal for counting calories.
My struggle is water, it seems so easy, but I plan to really drink my 8 glasses a day, starting today :)
Anyone wanna join me? I am serious about this, and I will do it!

| good luck on your journey! definitely doable to lose what you're seeking if you have weight to lose. Water is key for sure. I saw your post on your injury, hopefully that doesn't hold you back too bad, but it will be challenging. BUT, weight loss is 99.9% diet anyways and you don't need your feet to eat in a deficit :-)

Thanks Grangers :)
I have a dance class and I am still going, even though my feet hurt, it is more toning, no high impact (the teacher is my friend and I told her about my injury.)
I have had my water, and dinner is planned.

(Female, 5'6", 158)
Your BMI is 25.5
Say you were 35, unadjusted RMR would be 1428. Your 'sedentary maintenance' would be 1,714 calories.
Now let's say you were eating 1,428 calories a day and were sedentary. That's a 286 calorie deficit consistent with losing 0.57lb a week (9.15lb over 16 weeks).
What kind of deficit do you need to lose 1.61lb a week (instead of 0.57lb a week?), well in order to burn that extra 1lb with exercise, you'll need to burn an extra 3,500 calories with activity. If you spread this over 5 days that'll be 700 calories of exercise in exercise.
I am going to pre-empt grangers710 here. When he joined last year he was talking about the (now subscription-only website) Adonis Index, which encourages people to fast or otherwise dramatically reduce their calorie intake and crash-diet in record time. That website poo-poos any suggestion that this could backfire. The thing is, eating very little can be problematic. The leaner you are, the more problematic it is.
Perhaps the best caution against crash dieting is that it works, but only for a short while. After that your body rebels. You lose some muscle (which you don't want to do) and then you stall.
To save you the misery I want to remind you that you should not be eating less than your unadjusted RMR.
If losing 28lb over a period any longer than 16 weeks seems like a chore, imagine how much of a chore it would be to lose 0lb a week when you are at goal weight. This is for a lifetime so you do not need to be in a rush and you do not want to harm your body by under-eating.

@nir who kindly will use a nice way to insult someone's opinions, couldn't be farther from the truth about the program I subscribe to. One that speaks without full knowledge of something is only ignorant. No one crash diets, and you completely miss the concept of fasting to begin with, so yet again, you have no clue what you're refering to. Please show me a study that proves the body rebels and you lose muscle? Please I'd love to see it. I've been at this for 2 years now. I've kept my weight off, I'm still doing the same approach and I'm about 5 pounds from being completely ripped. Peak health conditions via my lastest blood test for life insurance, so please do not "insult" me with by your status on this site.
I'm here to help people. telling someone to not eat under their RMR because you'll lose muscle is a complete falsity. Ive done it for 2 years. Please tell me why my weights are all up significantly, my muscles are bigger, and I look like I do. I'd love to hear the explanation.
And further, since I didn't say ANYTHING about my own approach in my post, I'm pretty darn #%@&! by your post. Far from a crash diet. Learn what you're talking about before opening your mouth. Thanks.

ok maybe you'd like to remind me what your approach is. I see from your recent posts you are eating 1500, is that all of the days in the week? do you take diet breaks or high days? how does this number compare to your unadjusted RMR? have you tried eating at maintenance to see if your effective maintenance calories have shifted down as a result of this? Do you believe this approach of eating under RMR stands any chance of working well without weight-training?
I am quite lean and eat approx 2500 (and I'm 127lb which is possibly lighter than you) so I am a bit baffled as to what the advantage is of eating less calories (I guess you save on your food bill?)

First off, I'm not going to hijack this individual's thread for a personal discussion with you. Feel free to PM me to discuss. Your tone and poor word choice just continues to show your ignorance and disrespectfulness. I got quite aggravated with this site when I first joined primarily because of you and your attitude and absolute abuse of your position here on this forum. If you want to "warn" others about me when you know absolutely NOTHING about me or what I do or what I know, feel free. It only goes to prove my point. If you wish to discuss further, feel free to PM me, but I am not going to entertain this discussion on someone else's thread.

I got up to do my yoga this morning, and my boyfriend was up and watching the news in the only room I have to do it in :( I will drink my water though. I am a bit discouraged :( I will also watch what I eat today.
Granger, I am not sure what your suggestions are. If it is fasting, I am not sure about it, but have considered a 3 day partial fast, either juice, or broth. I would be interested to hear though.
However, I lost the weight before slowly using WW (like Nir suggested,) I ate plenty, and it was easy. For some reason, I am having a hard time sticking to any "diet" I am just recording what I am eating and my fitness in Sparkpeople, and I have lost a bit of weight there before. I am really motivated now though. I am frustrated that I couldn't work out. I would have gone for a walk (my feet are feeling a bit better this morning) but it is raining :(

| My suggestions really would depend on what your goals are. If its slow weight loss that's one way, if its fast weight loss that's another. Fasting can be used as a great tool in either method, just depends on your approach. I wish you luck on your journey regardless of the method you choose :-)

Hi Merci,
Welcome to cph. Are you aware that there is a current weight loss challenge going on? The Halloween challenge. Nir does a great job of keeping track of all the vital statistics for us all including a colorful graph of everyones progress. You should join it. I'm hoping that after we complete the Halloween challenge that there is a new one to take us up to Jan. 1 as well. It really helps to keep me focused.

Thanks Patchers :)
I just thought that I was too late for that one. I will join in to the New Years one though. I have so far lost about a pound a week.

That is most definitely doable! I have found writing everything down helped me tremendously, keeps you honest and makes you realize those nibbles here and there really add up.
I will also love to join you in the water challenge, I have been trying to increase my water intake! It's hard to get 8 glasses in a day, but I've found it makes it easier if you carry a water bottle EVERYWHERE with you. I still struggle time to time, but having one on hand all the time really helps!
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!
Can't wait to hear about all your success :)
