I'm actually surprised I've gone this low after last week's weigh-in.

Thanks hiker! I can't believe I reached it so early, but I still have a long way to go to my ultimate goal of 140

McHen, mayb not a big loss each week but remember the tortoise and the hare. If you are steadly going in the right direction then I think that's great. Of course I also know how frustrating that can be so hang in there.

CW 56.35 (124.1lb) :up_arrow:
LW 55.72 (122.7lb) this week a gain of 0.63 (1.39lb)
SW 54.96 (121.1lb) gain of 1.39 (3.06lb) for challenge!

What has changed?

Since May 29th bean intake doubled (from 150g to 300g)

Since May 31st I've doubled the dose of my Sertraline (Lustral/Zoloft) medication from 25mg to 50mg. "weight increased" is one of the possible side-effects though the leaflet suggests it is statistically unlikely (affecting between 1 and 10 out of 1000 people taking it).

Half avocado got re-introduced on June 11th.

Tried working with heavy weights on June 13th.

Slight decrease in exercise (skipped a couple of low-impact dance classes).

Otherwise I am grasping at straws here as I can't think of any other changes that could affect my weight so dramatically!

On June 17th I tempered (reduced) the counted portion of calorie intake from 2300 to 2200 to compensate for any (increased uncounted food, reduced activity, adjustment of metabolism). The next change on the horizon is that I'll soon be running out of some ingredients of the 'uncounted' portion and won't necessarily be compensating so that'll be another effective drop in calories. Another numerical adjustment will follow in a few weeks if I don't see some stability. I am also considering coming off this medication in July.

I'm going to have to do my weigh-in on Monday the earliest.  I'm currently at a convention in Pittsburgh, and I won't be able to return until Monday.

CW 167.1:sad:.Going in the wrong direction but I am not surprised, I've had a couple of really bad days this week. That's OK, I know I just need to get back on track and be more on top of it. For me it's the sweets...they do get to me.

Held steady this week at 137.2. Lucky to do that well! Blew off my good eating plan at sister's birthday and didn't get back on until Friday. Sigh! Will do better next week!

A good loss this week, but I could have done better.  I gained a bit back after some weekend binging on whatever I could get my hands on.  I will get back on track next week too.

:dog:hey tours,

boy can i hear your frustration. i certainly feel that way right now. i just returned from a beautiful yet STRESSFUL vacation in Santa Barbara with my kid and my folks...too many cooks in the "discipline and rules" kitchen and i took my upset out on myself the whole time, exercise then eat too much, total defeat. i am of course up in the weight, and returned home to a lot of dryness of the desert, so much stuff to do that sat on the sidelines to my husband while i was gone, and he had stress over the dogs which i had to hear about each day of the whole vacation...my eating habits have simply vanished as has exercise because i feel the same way, why bother? i have enough to worry about let alone watching every single thing i eat, how much i exercise etc....

i may just give up too. i have far too many distractions to keep my head clear and i am facing having to give up one of the dogs I brought home because he was such trouble while away. NOT LIKE THEY DIDNT FREAK OUT SIMPLY CUZ MOMMY HASNT EVER BEEN GONE AND SUDDENLY POOF!.....they have been great since i got back sunday, but D, he is stressing all the time about them, and frankly I am SICK OF IT...so what can i do? Its a long story not worth delving into, just wanted you to know I feel your pain.

so if u can give up, well, heck, why cant i? i feel guilty but then i am like, come on when is it enough????? how much more can i take????

just wanted to chime in....i will weigh in tomorrow, todays weight was an embarrassment to say the least, but i cant blame anyone but my own weakness and inability to handle stress better.....i hope that you dont give up but i can appreciate it if you do....im there too.....:nono::dizzy::devil:

It is not possible to remain overweight when only eating vegetables (starchy and non-starchy), beans and fruit. This also applies if very modest amounts of nuts and seeds or animal products are included.

The 'trick', of course, is not to suffer whilst you do it.

The trick is the transformation of the mind from following a 'diet', against my true will and for a limited period of time until I 'fall off',

to adopting habits that will last for a lifetime because I am not constantly struggling against them - because I am not feeling deprived and missing out those things that I've temporarily given up.

breathing in and out has really worked out for me for these last 38 years of my life. This isn't a short-term measure, I plan on continuing to breath for the rest of my life, no matter what. I take it for granted.

Now the same also applies to eating the kind of super-healthy diet that makes it impossible to be overweight no matter how much I eat; and daily exercise too.

The struggle is just your opinion. In your head. The food is the same - realign your mind for success. I still think fondly of chapter 1 ('goal setting') in Tom Venuto's Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle.

STAYED THE SAME 155lb.

Thanks for the wise words Nir, I'm really interested in what you say about muscles. as I've joined Curves and their work out is about working muscles. I'm away to find out more about 'Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle'.

Nir, that was good advice. While I have never been able to commit to a complete unprocessed foods diet, raw vegetables and fruits do make up most of my diet. It's definitely helped me lose the weight and keep it off.

CW 56.40 (124.2lb)
LW 56.48 (124.4lb)
SW 54.96 (121.1lb)

Gain of 1.44 (3.17lb) for challenge - a little more than I wanted (can you be too succesful in these challenges? I think you certainly can!).

The majority of the gain was a 2-week period when I was using the Sertraline SSRI medication at full dose, was sleeping a lot and my workout intensity was probably much reduced - a zombie eating an inappropriate amount of calories for their activities.

I now appear to have stabalised at a new level slightly lower than the scary peak but still leaving me uncertain as to where I want to go next.

I am now going to go ahead and join artistjohn's Summer Weight Loss Challenge
