CW 54.43kg (119.9lb)
LW 54.59kg (120.2lb) this week a loss of 0.16kg (0.35lb)
SW 54.37kg (119.8lb) for the challenge a gain of 0.06kg (0.13lb).

Speculation - due to abdominal/digestive issues I have recently reduced the size of the salad I am consuming. I am paying more attention to "fullness" signals. There are two possible implications: I may be undergoing a natural 'colon cleanse' which means I'm carrying less weight around. Another possibility is that as my salad (my main source of "uncounted calories") shrinks, so has my calorie intake, perhaps enough to cause this slight apparent weight loss. I am still counting 2,500 calories.

I have now been at 2,500 calories since October 24th making today (November 19th) the 27th day at this intake. My weight on October 23rd was 53.90kg so despite the loss on this intake I had apparently gained 0.53kg (1.17lb) in just short of 4 weeks (which is just about the rate of gain I was always looking for). short-term view = gain 0.30lb a week.

medium-term view: September 21st (59 days ago) = 51.91kg, 2.52kg (5.55lb) gain in 8.4 weeks (0.66lb a week).

long-term view: August 31st 2009 (14.63 months ago) = 50.75kg, 3.68kg (8.11lb) gain in 14.63 months (0.55lb a month)

Another issue is whether I actually need to gain more weight. At 54.43kg my BMI is 20.0. Of course that wouldn't be the BMI a GP or Nurse would calculate - they'd weigh me with minimal clothes at 56kg and likely work me out at 20.6. Either way though, it is a respectably "healthy" BMI well within the 18.5-24.9 range and not a whiff of "almost underweight". The only remaining 'urgent' motivation is my desire to gradually become stronger "in the weight room" (in Body Pump class, really) and to look a bit more 'muscley'. I'm clearly not going lower than 2,500 and MAYBE at some point in the future I'll want to raise calories again. When my impatience for results overpowers my drive for anxiety and caution, a hallmark of the obsessive personality that might also account for my interest in graphing all of this.

Weighing in at 166lbs! I did a double-take and got on the scale several times because I didn't believe it! I haven't walked this week, caught a wicked cold on sunday. Plenty of fluids and healthier eating this week trying to knock back the cold. Gotta keep this up! WOO-HOO!

Not a good place to be in going into Thanksgiving. Oh well, all I can do is try and work on it more diligently.

Weight is UP again - it just keeps fluctuating.

So put me down for 175.    I would like to change my goal to 165.

got sick with a bad cold, been stressed over troubles with mj and her adjustment to school and all that comes with that and here is my post for the week.

166.8 midday weigh in.

been sitting around 165.4 for the last week or so, and been away from computer.

not sure when things will get normalized for me. if mj doesnt start to get her act in line at school i will be pulling her out and putting her in the intended district school. she is doing well academically but socially its not going well. we are doing all we can at home, so if the teachers arent able to do it there, then why did i bother to try to get her into this oh so better school? not sure now, but then i dont know why i do what i do alot of the time, thinking its best, but not sure now.

anyway, we will give it till dec 20, when the semester ends, and if she hasnt improved i am pulling her. maybe then i will be able to get myself back into focus.

its not that i am eating too much, but my activity level and the winter blues are setting in for me BIG TIME.

147.6 when I got home, since I forgot to weigh in before we left! I'm happy. The past two days I've eaten only healthy food and it's paying off. Today the worst thing I ate was 1/8 cup homemade mashed potatoes.

Great job on the weight loss Zas.  I am trying a modified SOuth Beach as we haven't made it quite there yet.  Love those carbs.  Plus, I love righting out all my calories.  I ate 1430 calories today.  NOt bad for Thanksgiving.

Love watching everyone's progress.  THis is really helping me.

CW 54.89kg (120.9lb)
LW 54.43kg (119.9lb) this week a gain of 0.46kg (1.01lb)
SW 54.37kg (119.8lb) for the challenge a gain of 0.52kg (1.15lb).

At 2,500 since October 24th (on that date 53.96kg). Over 33 days an increase of 0.93kg (2.05lb), that's 0.20kg (0.43lb) a week which is still faster than what I'd call 'stable' but I'm reserving judgement until I've done 2,500 for longer (say 8-9 weeks) before tweaking. Some of the 'initial' gain are perhaps actually the delayed reaction of the 'average' to actual gains at an earlier time (whilst on 2,700).

I am currently re-reading Dr Fuhrman materials suggesting that only 'serious' calorie restriction is associated with life extension and it is pulling my thoughts in that direction (a little).

Graph is of the 2,500 calorie period (which slightly pre-dates the current challenge)

Had a couple food-heavy days this week, before that I'd been weighing in at 113lb-ish. Such is life!

I've had a pretty bad first half of my week (my "week" being from wednesday to wednesday), especially with thanksgiving on the second day, and was wondering if anyone would object if I postponed this weeks weigh-in to thursday, so I can try and play a little catch-up?  or would that be against the rules/be a huge cop-out for this weeks behavior?

I'd like to join this challenge for December because my eating has been drifting away from healthy foods toward more and more junk food lately, and the weight is drifting up slowly.  Hoping it will knock me back into reality before this gets to be a habit.

CW: 121.5

GW: 120.0

Height: 65 inches

Will report the average weight for the 7 days prior on Thursdays.

ps: Thanks, Nir

So, I was going to wait till tomorrow to weigh in, but I stepped on the scale out of curiosity, and I've lost a pound for the week! So I'm chill with posting in as usual.

Current weight: 143

Only two more pounds till I get a color-up :)  Its almost disturbing how motivational those silly little colors are.

Not entirely sure. Probably feeling self conscious about the new slimmer me? Noticing that certain parts of my anatomy are shrinking that I'd rather not be... Plus I'm feeling a little tired by it all at this point, not sure what is to be gained from losing the last two pounds (or seven if I aim for 105lb instead). Hmm.

Also there's some anxiety about how on earth maintenance will work with this eating pattern?

164, but my bf% is holding steady in the low 13-ish range, so it appears my gains are mostly muscle. I'm not sure which way I want to go. On one hand, getting down to 157 just so I can say I lost more than half would be cool, but eating more and bulking up is a lot more fun. I keep changing my mind every few days, so I'm kind of treading water. Been that way for about 3 months now.

I've not been particularly strict about my pattern of intermittent fasting this week. It's so cold it's hard to deny porridge on a morning! Which, for me, leads to eating throughout the day. So quite a small loss this week.

Probably not helped by self esteem issues re: being slim [how stupid is that]. I think it's because progress lately, particularly visually, has been so rapid and... yeah. I should stop complaining :)

Aimless, I did not realise that "what you are doing" was the kind of uncompromising slog that you can't envisige yourself continuing for the long-haul. By the time you're near goal (as you are) you should be pretty much acting out what maintenance is. I certainly have been eating more or less the same way for quite a few years, be it loss or gain that I'm after. Going by a few other forum members, this is not a universally 'easy' thing to do.

I intend to keep calories at 2,500 until the end of the challenge out of stubornness (to keep the data-gathering scientific experiment going - what happens when I eat this many calories on a long-term basis) but the longer-term view is to do a gentle cut (say at 2,400) as I'd like to be re-united with my 6-pack! This would be one time when it's a look rather than a number on the scales that I'd be chasing.

CW 54.82kg (120.7lb)
LW 54.89kg (120.9lb) this week a loss of 0.07kg (0.15lb)
SW 54.37kg (119.8lb) for the challenge a gain of 0.45kg (0.99lb).

At 2,500 since October 24th (on that date 53.96kg). Over 40 days an increase of 0.86kg (1.89lb), that's 0.15kg (0.33lb) gain a week (which is getting close to the 0.25lb/week I originally envisiged). Graph is of the 2,500 calorie period (which slightly pre-dates the current challenge).

I wouldn't describe it a slog, it's effortless, really! My concern is that perhaps it has been in resulting in progress too fast? If 112lb is where I decide to stop, knowing how to balance it out so I don't continue to lose weight seems far more effort than the weight loss itself. Having more days where I eat fairly 'normally' sets the scale fluctuating far more than I'm used to, which is mildly alarming. Up until this point I've been doing the one-meal-a-day thing 4 or 5 days a week.

I'm concerned I'm not eating healthily enough too, particularly with the intermittent fasting not having full [or any] control over food shopping [primary issue] and the meals I do have [secondary issue, I can cook for myself whenever I like really] it's hard to balance things. That control part is only until February now though, so I can address nutrition more effectively then.

I'm making something out of nothing, I suppose. But this is uncharted territory for me. :)

Eating healthfully is the more important issue, you are what you eat.

As for fearing you'll disappear into thin air, Dr Fuhrman is of the opinion that your body knows what weight is best for you and the same food that currently has you losing will have you maintaining when your body has decided you've reached your ideal weight (that assumes you don't deny your body's signals and eat when you feel true hunger). Your body is unlikely to let you get down to underweight without complaining - you'll stabalise beforehand (and hopefully you won't have to resort to training bras )
