| I was just wondering after reading some of the "Best Movies" posts what everyone thought are some of the worst movies. I think I just watched the worst one ever! Cloverfield. It was horrible and cheesy! The others on my list are The 5th Element, The Star Wars movie with Jar Jar Binks, and Bring it On. Yuck.

Hmmm I wish I could remember one right off the bat but I tend to completely forget bad movies and only remember the good ones! I remember feeling really disappointed by Marie Antoinette, especially after reading the book itself. The whole movie skips over some of the most significant parts of her story which is at the very end.

I love Jar Jar Binks!!
Um, let me see. I didn't really like Premonition. Stupid ending.
I'm sure I'll think of more here soon.

I was a big fan of Fifth Element and the Star Wars series as a whole-----but perhaps it takes a certain appreciation for sci-fi?
I enjoyed Marie Antoinette simply for its artistic value----the costumes were terrific, the history was accurate, and the characters were relatable. I didn't like it the first time I watched it, because I expected something along the lines of Pride and Prejudice......but this movie style was more.....eclectic.
Most of the movies that I hated were what I call "stupid comedies," like Napoleon Dynamite, There's Something About Mary, and Dumb and Dumber (and Dumberer).......I tend to enjoy movies that are either thought provoking, beautifully filmed, or have great costumes and music, but some movies simply make me say "huh?"......oddly enough, I really liked Beavis and Butthead (series and movie).

I couldn't stand watching Crank with Jason Statham. The first 10 mins. into the movie....I was done with it. I payed for it on pay per view so i forced myself to watch it. Sadly I think they're making another Crank movie.
Update: They are making another one.

Wolf Creek, The Hills Have Eyes (including any and all sequels, prequels, and remakes), and One Missed Call top my list (obviously I am not a horror movie fan). I also veto anything with Nicholas Cage on principle (I hate him!) or Larry the Cable Guy and movies that are very overrated and overhyped (Jumper, for example). Talladega Nights was pretty awful too, and I can't even talk about how much I hated Crank. No Country for Old Men, despite it's best picture win at the Oscars, was so boring I turned it off about 20 minutes into the movie (i've heard the coolest thing in the movie was a shotgun with a silencer, which doesn't give the movie much weight in my eyes). Then there's the long list of movies with titles so bad I can't even think about watching them: Illegal Aliens (the last anna nicole smith movie ever), Gangs of the Dead, The Breed, 666 Demon Child, and all the bad sequels in the world (Jaws 2-4, Open Water 2, a billion land before time movies).
Is it obvious yet that I work in a movie rental store? The best part about me working there is that I don't watch movies nearly as much as anyone else I work with, and I'm management. haha. What I've learned most is that there are a lot of terrible movies in the world, way more than you'd think.

Cloverfield may have been a bad flick (can't say for sure, haven't seen it yet) But I guarantee there are worse movies out there. For example, any of the parody movies you've heard about in the past 6 years (Scary movie, Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans, etc.). Probably the most offensive movies I've ever seen. I don't mean content wise, but as movies, they're just an awful medium to launch half-cooked, low-grade humor.

| I love the stupid comedies such as Napolean Dynamite and Dumb & Dumber! But Forehunnerd is right, the parody movies are awful! We walked out of Superhero Movie...It was just pathetic and lame. They could make parodies so much funnier if they would cut all of trash out of it!

Hi Forehunnerd,
I agree, Meet the Spartans is a waste of celluloid. I love mindless movies but that one really took it to a whole nother level.
Another movie I really hated was american haunting. Good premise, bad acting bad direction, bad flow. Utterly #%@&!.

I hated The Departed. Such a bad ending for a movie that was great up until that point

You know, the Departed is actually based off of this other movie, a Japanese one I think, called Infernal Affairs. It's essentially a same plot with a slightly different ending, and completely lacking the Irish-Mob background. I think the ending of IA is a little more tragic than the Departed's, but both movies really end on a strong note about how identity plays a role in the lives of the main players.
