I have been walking for a few days now and I noticed that when I had 8000+ steps I developed blood with my stool. Is this normal?
I remember if one ran too much this would happen but, I am not sure about walking.
It happened again this morning with only 2200 steps.

I used to run more than 8000 steps every day (for years) and never experienced such a problem.
Like the other posters suggested, see your doc. soonest.

Just a thought, have you changed your diet lately? Maybe youre eating more rice/brown rice? Bananas? more whole grains?Apples? All these healthy foods can cause you to get constipated, not to the point where youre not going, but maybe theyre bulkier/more fiberous and you are straining and causing the bleeding, ask your doctor to make sure what the cause.
I know that I cant eat rice without getting well, constipated, sometimes just a cup of rice can cause me to get slowed down for days, as well as metamucil, I tried it for 3 days, just the recomended dose, and I couldnt go for 5 days till I used something to help me go.....
When babies and small children are delicate and cant hold down food they put them on whats called t he B.R.A.T. diet which is bananas, rice, apples and toast. So maybe avoid too many of these and add more vegetables. Add more water also, cause maybe the added steps/excercise is dehydrating you.

Generally, whole grains and brown rice should help you go, rather than hinder, because the fibres retain a lot of water, thereby preventing constipation.

Thats what one hears, but on some persons,(like me) it does slow things down, dont know why. But I do remember from working in the med field, that the B.R.A.T. diet was prescribed for babies and small children with the problem of constant diarriah
(spelling?)from allergies to food.
Now, things like beans, lentils, barley do help me stay normal(digestive wise that is )
I started to take metamucel for added fibre and #%@&! it if it didnt do just the opposite. Again, Im very prone to being constipated, since a baby, I drove my mom nuts, going every 3-4 days was not uncommon, and after Ive had surgeries, that get even worse.
Any way, KenC I hope you find out whats wrong, let us know.

I am scheduled for a colonoscopy in the morning. We think it may be a hemoroid(?). I will know by this time tomorrow.

Good luck to you, hopefully just a minor one, if you have any concerns on this "touchy" and uncomfortable subject I can try to help as Ive had many experiences on the subject and its not a matter to joke about like in TV and movies.
Let us know !

Well, I was right. It was a Hemm.... (however you spell it.) NOt real serious as it is just in the starting stage. Maybe it came from the lifestyle I have been living since I moved to the Manila area.
The walking should help things get back to normal if that is possible. The good news is that they didn't find anything more serious.
I managed to order a new pedometer. My cheap one lasted 3 days and then the clip broke. I glued it and started again. After walking 30 minutes I checked it. 9 steps! It is 14 steps to get downstairs to the door.
Oh well, that is another story. Omron on the way.

Glad they didn't find any polywogs!
About blood in the stool being caused by running, I remember something like that from the time I ran marathons. But I think it was in the urine.
Glad you got it checked out.
