| ok in short BMI to me is BS compared to bodyfat%. im 5'5" and i weigh approx 190lbs and my BF% is approx 25% this is the top line. im tired of putting up with the BS it gives me and i want to lower it to about 15% as a final goal. my weight as a number is of no concern as long as my body fat is at my goal. i would also like to be able to run an 8 min mile. i have completely flat feet so running is very painful but theres nothing i can do about that. as far as diest go what would be a good plan? btw i want to get to my goal by around August 15th if possible.

I am not a genius on how to lower BF%. I would suggest you pm Nir for very specific suggestions.
I think the best way is to increase protein (without increase fat intake) and exercise.
Surely you do not have to just accept running with pain?! Are there not special shoes you can buy, or special insertable soles? If not, why can't you choose another exercise that would be less painful? Maybe biking?
Welcome to CPH!
Oh, one question. What are you using to find you BF%?

| I'm using a digital scale with the electric impulse thing. I have custom orthodics and i buy high-end newbalance shoes. Last summer i rode 20 miles on my bike almost every day but it didnt seem to have much result. I really want to work on being able to run the mile for gym as i find it rather embarassing to be last everytime.

I understand, I just hate for you to be in pain to do it :(
You might benefit from buying a set of skinfold calipers. They are typically more accurate than a sale (read about it here http://www.caloriesperhour.com/tutorial_composition.php)

I'll tell you what Peter says. His teory is, if it starts hurting after ten minutes, then only do it for nine. Don't push yourself too hard, work up to it.

| OK I know its supposedly bad to lose lots fast, but heres my plan. I either lower my intake to 1500 or 1000 calories until i get to my target of 15% bodyfat. in combination with muscle gain this will take between 10 and 14 weeks. I'm wondering though how fast I will build muscle doing a serious muscle building workout prettymuch everyday. Then once I'm at my goal either continue to 10% or just maintain my level.
