Well hello everyone! I have been lurking around his site for a little while now, and I’ve decided to just plop down and actually talk to someone about losing weight. Basically, I have been losing weight, but it was just puppy pounds that started to come off because I was leading a more active life.
Now, I’m in high school and this summer I want to be proud to go to the pool with friends.
Anyway, enough with a background information, I have a few quick questions.
1. I was considering creating a journal, but I’m not entirely sure if I can make it here or if it should be on the journal forum.
2. I’m slightly confused on the minimum amount of calories I can have.
(I’m female, age 14, high 5’8’’, weight 145 , and have about 1 hour of activity 6 days a week.)
I got 2,598 but that seems too high.

Definitely do your journal in the journal forum. You will et more input :) [because non-teens, AND teens can go there, and anywhere one the site, but only teens can come here...and there are oh so few of us :(]
I will figure your min cals tomorrow, I promise. I hneed some sleep right now :)
Welcome to CPH!!

Thanks so much! Take your time, trust me, I know lack of sleep sucks. Part of the reason I have hibernating raccoons under my eyes.

The first number is a number of calories you should every less than each day. It is called your unadjusted RMR. If you just sat and did absoute nothing, you would still theoretically need that many calories for blinking and all the sutff your body has to do.
2592 Is about how many calories you burn each day. So, say you shot for eating 1900 calories. If you eat 1900 and burn almost 2600, you will have burned 700 more than you ate. If you burn 700 each day, then at the end of a week you have burned 4900, right? 1 pound=3500, so that's about 1.5 pounds a week. Of course, this is all theorteical...our bodies aren't perfect machines, so things like TTOM, eating too much salt, level of hydration, and all those variable can make a difference.
But at least that gives you a place to start!!
