Heyy! I'm Danielle, you can call me Dani. I'm 14 turning 15 right away. Im 5'4 and 122-126 pounds, it fluctuates daily haha. Anyways I'd like to tone up and lose weight in my thighs. I'm VERY active, I play almost every sport you can name except badminton. I sing, and dance as well.
Honestly I could probably get to a weight goal very easily, its just NO motivation, NO support, and Im always making up excuses why not to. Common one I use... " well If I don't eat enough then I'm not going to have enough energy for (Sport here)" , I get NO support from my family. In fact when I tried getting support from my mom, she just looked at me like I was insane, and said are you kidding me you are perfect. Understandable though, she is my mom. But she thinks because I want to diet that I'm going to end up with some sort of eating disorder, just because she had one when she was my age. I know that the media is forcing that sort of thing, But I'd prefer to be able to keep my physical fitness up, and not look like a toothpick. ALSO I find that it would be awkward to work out in front of family and friends, so I only get to do it when no ones home or when Im in my room I just do lunges, squats, crunches, situps, and pushups.
HELP PLEASE:)
Excercises that target the thigh area and dont require buying equipment would be AWESOME!

CG dont say that. you guys will win! if not in person then uhhh... maybe in the back of your head? i dont know but dont put your selves down before the game even starts.
Dani hi! me personally im not a very athletic person. i know what you mean by not wanting to work out in front of your family. although i dont know that many exercises for that. sorry that im no help whatsoever. i cant tell you how many times ive been close to getting into a eating disorder.
yeah ive skimmed the waters. but somehow i get all bouncy and its like gone. kinda weird.

Yesssss! normal BMI! Nice one, flip
This will be our fourth Halloween in this house...and we NEVER get trick or treaters. It is set kinda far back off the road...still plainly viewable, but looong driveway and all that...guess it turns people off.
My new goal is to be 129 by the first of January. The is just a bit over a lb a week, which should be doable. That is when I see my endocrinologist again

Tonight we had pizza for supper, and I had two pieces. I don't know if that is a lot or a little for you, but I usually eat at least three and maybe a couple breadsticks. So, I felt good.
EVERYONE SHOULD JOIN the new weight loss challenge!!!

I'm not a teenager, but Clarinetgirl, who usually welcomes teens, is not online right now. I know that she will want to welcome you personally, but in the meantime I will just say "welcome". Howmuch weight do you want to lose? How ,uch doyou weigh? How tall are you? Have you discovered the calculators for BMi and stuff yet?

Don't worry about the double posting - I've dealt wtih it already.
You poor thing. I am 5ft 9 (ish) or 174cm - depending on which time of the day you measure my height - and I weighed 213 lbs last week, so I do understand where you are coming from. Mind you, I have come down from 287 lbs and 213 is one heck of a lot more comfortable and more attractive than 287 lbs, so I am not complaining (much).
I am vegetarian anyway, so I try to eat a low carb, low fat diet with lots of exercise (10-16 miles at a time) most days and visits to the gym when I can. It is working for me! What methods have you decided to use?

May I give you a tiny bit of advice? Have a read of the Tutorial, it is full of really good advice. There are lots of plans to follow, lots of different ways to exercise, but the underlying basis of all the plans that work are the same - and they are explained really well inthe Tutorial (click here to go there).
Because I am so much taller than most of the peole I know, I have no real idea of how much I should weight. When I was a teenager I was 147 lbs (ten and a half stone) and I always thought I was Ok but had to wear size 14 jeans, etc. I was never a size 10 or even a 12 really - but then again I am a "big" woman - not just fat, but I have huge hands and feet, and my wrist measurement indicates that I have a frame size larger than a lot of men, so it wouldn't be realistic for me to aim at slimming down to a size 10. To help me decide where to aim I have used the BMI calculator. It indicates that 147 lbs is around the middle of the OK range for me, so even though I am 40 I will need to lose all the weight and to go right back to the weight I was at 17 in order to be a healthy weight - you don't get any benefits for being older.
Anyway, the reason I mentioned this is taht there is a BMI calculator on this site too (click to go there). You can use it to work out your BMI, and there are also calculators which will help you to work out how many calories to eat in order to reduce your weight in a given amount of time.
You might want to have a look at my journal. Journals are a great resource for advice and ideas for weight loss, and if you keep one yourself you may be surprised at how motivating you find it. Also, it is a personal way to stay in touch with others who are treading the same path as you. (There are some before and after pictures of me on the first page of my journal, scroll down about half way if you want to see them - careful your screen doesn't crack!).
Oh, and to answer your question, it has taken me 6 months to get where I am now, but the first 4 or 5 stone were the quickest to come off. Since I hit the 220s it has really slowed down and got harder to lose - and also I find it harder to lose weight when I am back at work. It hink weight loss is easiest when you can concentrate on it, and it alone - but that is an ideal world where I no longer live!
Never mind. Good luck with the weight loss. I am sure I will see you ont he boards again. Cheers for now.
Becci

What do you mean, "finished school"?
Yeah, I went to Curves AND I walked a mile and a half
What confuses me is this:
Two nights ago I had a sub sanwhich a cookie for supper...that night I weighed 137.6.
Last night I ate three slices of pizza, two breadsticks, and a great big piece of cake...and weighed 137.6.
What gives? I know, I know, I exercised a lot more yesterday than the day before, and it could be water weight and all that...but give me a break.
FIRST weigh in for the end of the year challenge tomorrow!! Are you guys psyched? I'm psyched...kinda. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have gained...because the weight I posted as my start weight was like the lowest I've ever been...and I haven't all that good this week. But whatev. It will be okay, I'll try harder this next go around.

So... i went to see them today. yes i was kinda worryed n stuff. but i tryed not to think bout it too much. it was pretty cool. he's clean up pretty decently considering he's been to prison twice. and if he gets in trouble again. he's gettin sent away for a loooooong time. he works alot. at a tire shop. my sister and her kids are really cool! the little one, Joseph, is the cutest little thing. I dont know. they as in my grandma jenny and my dad and them, kept saying how much i look soo much like my mom and dad. and how the faces i make all the time remind them of my dad. my grandma jenny was like purt near cryin a river. was sad but i wasnt gonna cry.
im pretty happy now tho. i wanna go see them some more and i think that me and my sister are gonna become closer now. i hope anyways.

| Hey Guys! I am new to forums and really interested in most to lose weight. I am currently 5'5" and 196 at age 16. I have been working a little bit and went down from 203 to 196, but I don't feel the difference at all. Two days was the first day that I weight myself and noticed that I was below 200. I haven't been below 200 pounds for a long time (I was up to 215 earlier). Thanks, and this looks like it is a wonderful place.

HEY diving! Welcome to CPH! This site is a GREAT tool for weight loss, I've found. I read in the username thread that your bday is the Dec. 26...mine's the 21st!! Too cool.
I'm seventeen, and I'm trying to get down to 120 (currently 135-137ish, started 173). Do you have a goal in mind?
Wow, diving team sounds cool. We don't have anything like that.
Well, I just noticed your diary, so I'm going to go swing by it and say hi! Welcome again!

I don't really have a goal in mind yet. My goal is to try to get to 180 by the New Year. I am currently around 196. I would really like to be able to hit the 170's soon. It has been a long time since I have been at that weight and I would love it. I guess my ultimate goal is to try get under 150 pounds and reacess when I reach that. I haven't been below 150 since probably 6th grade. it will be so great. I would love to be around or below 170 in March, when I go on this trip.
Yes, I love diving. The thing that has already bugged me and is one of the reasons that I really want to lose weight is my sports activity level. I am on the swim team and do fairly well, nothing great by no means. But, if just makes me think that if I was at a more healthy weight, how good I could be. diving is truly an incredible sport, but also it is so terrfying. If you ever get a chance to try it, I would highly recommend it!!
Thanks so much!

Hey, i just found this site in my fitness researching and its been a great tool, i didnt even know about the forums for a while either, im 18 i just graduated high school. I sorta took on fitness as a way of life for my self the past few years, Since 14 ive lost about 30lbs. of body fat and put on about 30lbs. lean body weight i didnt really keep an accurate record or anything from back then, but i do now if i had to guess id say i was at about 25% bodyfat when i first became concerned with my weight. now im sitting around 15%, still waiting for the six pack :P i sat down to think about it and although careers and possesions are great and all, the one thing that you truly own forever is your own body, so why not make the best of it? that was sorta my philosophy, still trying to help my parents out with it, (but theyre a little slow on the uptake). Anyways ive gained a lot of useful knowledge, and im sure that you guys have a bunch to share as well, so im glad to have found these forums :) and im looking forward to helping out.

Thirty pounds, bravo. What di you find helped you the most? Personally, I always feel better when I take the time to jump on my treadmill (and less guilty for begging my parents to buy it for me )

Haha, i actually had no idea this was a British forum, i just found it and it seemed like a really cool place to talk about stuff, actually im from California, in the states. But as far as weight loss goes i started out just wanting to look better and feel better about myself, and of course for fun, i played football, and then track afterwards for 3 years in highschool, this last year right before i graduated i decided to give rugby a shot :P man its like my favorite sport now. But im focusing mainly on cycling at this point, and heavy cardio, but i love to bike, and hopefully some day ill be competitive at it, im sure it will make it even more fun! But mainly i cross train now, and im slowly trying to cut down my bodyfat % without losing my heard earned muscle ive put on. But ive got a gym membership, i run a whole ton and im currently enrolled in a PE-esque class at my local junior college, i just think the biggest thing in all of it is determination.
yeah i went and reviewed the guidlines after i saw mine got edited thanks :). glad to see you guys are so cheery around here!
