Beans and lentils can provide vegeterians with plenty of protein and calories. The same also applies to TVP (textured vegetable protein - otherwise known as Soya Mince). Nuts and Seeds also have some protein and plenty of calories. Not quite sure why you would want to cut out bread and then worry about eating too few calories - have you got something against bread?
I've got to admit I've never heard of "protein pills". I've heard of protein shakes (and both Soy Protein Isolate powder and Whey Protein powder are vegeterian) but not protein pills.

Lol ya I guess I wasnt think whether protein pills actually existed! But anyways, thanks for the info Moderator named Nir!
But Ive come to another most healthy eating lifestyle I think Ive come to yet! ( this IS talking to anyone who would like to say anything about what Im writing)
So what I want to do is follow Canada's Healthy food Guide! YAY! Anyone wanna do the same thing and talk about yur achievments throughout? I probably will to give people hope for my idea
So I wanted to know since Canada'a Food Guide says stuff such as 2-3 servings of Meat and Alternatives a day, and stuff like 2-4 servings of Milk products per day....Cant that be fatening? I know its healthy and all, but wont that make more fat stuff? And I read in This months First magazine, that all these fats from meat and calcium foods can blast away belly fat. So whats up? Love to hear from you guys!

La la laaaa! Hey its me again! Catie the Zeppelin lover! So! I was wondering!Whenever I get home from school,I just wanna pig out!And I mean I wanna -->
So I eat an apple, and a cheese stick(you know the cheese pulling sticks)..But that not good enough! Ive heard If you eat something low fat and CRUNCHY, thats what your body wants the crunchy stuff, and so after that you wont be craving food anymore. Well not me! I end up eating 2-3 pieces of bread (sometimes full of the good stuf, sometimes Wonder bread :S) and I cant get enough with just an apple or some celery or whatever right? Plus, I end up wanting to eat until im FULL. So that sux! Cuz i pretty much end up eating two meals after school. Well, not the days I go to my aunts for an hour walk, and eat a "healthy" dinner when we get back.. But ya so hopefully Im not the only one with this problem! Not that I WANt anyone else to have this problem, but you know so Im not on a one person THING! You know what I mean..Hopefully..Anyways! Good luck to everyone else here!

I'm with you!! When I get back to school, I want everyone to say, "Wow, you really toned up over the summer!" And I shall say, "Thanks, I sure did "
What are you planning on doing? I've been trying to walk more...AND next week is Bible Camp and there are TWO optional hikes each day so I'm about to be doing a lot of hiking

Oh right on Clarinet Girl! I think what I am doing is cutting out a lot of the #%@&! I eat and just getting out side more. Of course I'll have my spray can of Raid with me or something, Im soo afraid of getting stung that I end up staying indoors!
So ya Im doing lots of gardening and cutting grass ( we have 5 acres of lawn! )
And I'll be running around all day and just be alot less lazy aaall day! So you'll be doing lots of hiking?! Thats good! I've thought of hiking, but it would only be my dogs and me and walking in the bush with bears and animals like that! So Yah. Right on with your idea, I hope you succeed! I know Im extremely tired of being shy just because Im not as skinny as the girl next to me. (in school)

I know, I hate the critters I get so mosquito bitten at camp!! But I guess we'll have to take the consequences with the rewards
School is definitely hard. I mean, you don't want to think somone won't like you just because your not a supermodel, because then you're being just as judgemental as the people who ARE like that. On the other hand, its really hard to put yourself out there and just be yourself, and then get ridiculed for it.
Hope you're having a nice day!

Hi, everyone!
I don't feel comfortable using my real name online, so you can call me Pink! I'm a junior in high school and I love to write! I write poetry and stories mainly. Recently I've been working on a novel. My dream is to someday write a book that will become a classic and end up on required reading lists for high schoolers. Right now I'm reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Bettye Smith. It's my required reading this summer, which I normally hate, but this has to be the very best book I've ever gotten my hands on! I strongly encourage anyone who reads this to read the book.
I live in Nashville. Ironically enough, I hate country music. Yesterday was the 4th of July, which ,in Nashville, means hundreds of people gather in Riverfront Park to listen to a bunch of really bad country acts. The main event is the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, which plays a series of classic patriotic songs, which is accompanied by an awesome fireworks display. I think Nashville is the greatest city in America. I could spend all day walking around the downtown area.
Over the past year or so I've lost almost 30 pounds. I'm still about ten pounds overweight, and even in ten pounds I'll be 15 pounds from my ideal weight, so 25 pounds to go.
I am the absolute least athletic person I know. The only thing I've ever been considered any good at is cheerleading, and I hate it. I quit last year. After I quit all the cheerleaders turned on me.
I love to work out. I'm not a hard core jock or anything like that. I just like to go to the gym and work up a good sweat. No one judges you at the gym because everyone is sweaty and stinky. We'd probably be less sweaty and stinky if the YMCA would turn on the air conditioning. Right now my workout routine consists of 20 minutes of cardio on an elliptical-like machine. My goal is to work myself up to 40 minutes by the end of the summer. I want to lose inches everywhere, but gain inches on my shoulders, so I lift weights. I want to have a little confidence on the beach this summer, so I've been patronizing the abs classes the Y offers. There's a 10 minute class that kicks my butt and I love it. I thought I'd like the 15 minute class, so I tried it and it was so not challenging. I need to feel sore in the morning. It lets me know I'm challenging myself enough.
well, now you know pretty much everything about me. If anyone has any weight loss short cuts, please tell me!

hey, Tyson!
I love Australia. I've never been, but I would love to go someday. I love your accents.
If I were you I wouldn't worry about losing weight. Heck! If I weighed 120 I'd have room to grow! Do whatever you think is best, but just be careful, please.
What sports do you play? I've always wished I were good at sports. If you do start dropping weight, please please tell me how you did it. I'm plateauing and I'm growing desperate!

I can totally understand that. It's the nature of diet and weight loss, and why this these forums failed altogether the first time I tried to make a go of them.
I say I can understand because when I was going to OA meetings I never attended when I wasn't eating well. I just didn't want to think about it when I was bingeing.
That's why I admire so very much all the forum members who stick around through good times or bad, or at least come back when they're ready.

Hello, I guess this is the first post in...a few weeks so here's what I gotta say:
My name is 1seekspie...well not really...I'll give you a hint what my real name is...it's a month...it's the first month of the year...yes it's an odd name...and yes I was born in:
JANUARY!
There that's out of the way...um as far as weight loss goes...I kind of joined caloriesperhour when I was slightly anorexic so that's my story. Now I'm just trying to get out of "survival mode" and eat normal again. I'm trying mostly to only eat healthy food and sometimes I feel like I'm starving and other times I feel no interest in food and yes I still mentally have a lot of weight issues but I'm working on it.
So that's what's going on with my weight right now...I'm 5,3 and a half, and last time I checked I weigh 108. Oh and I'm 14...yeah I'm definitely a teen. I just started high school btw. It's very interesting...kind of challenging but yeah. I don't like gym so I took dance instead. Ouch...my legs hurt now...I've never danced before in my life and even though this is a beginner's dance class, it's still challenging for me both mentally and physically...OW! Especially physically. I'm really more of a writer...I sit...and write...something that doesn't require leg movement!!! Lol
Anyway good idea starting this clarinetgurl. How old are you? And what kind of clarinet do you play? I'm curious because, I too play a wind instrument! Yeah, Alto E-Flat Saxophone...I just started but I think it's really cool...how long have you been playing?

Well, I guess I have been fairly successful My top weight was 170...Yeah, too big, I was 5'3. I'm 5'4 now, and about 136 lbs. It's been nearly two years since I started trying harder to lose weight, but I'm totally cool with slow and steady.
If you want to know more, I can tell you
I am about to be eighteen--senior.

Hi, I 'm not a teenager, but I was once. So can I post here?
I just wanted to say, Blackdiamond, that you are facing the eternal dieters dilemma. Food which is hardest for a lot of us to resist is the stuff that makes you fat even when eaten in relatively tiny quantities. A big Mac, large fries and a large banana milkshake contain (495 + 470 + 510 = ) 1475 calories, which is only 25 calories less than my whole daily calorie allowance. So if I allowed myself to eat that (which I wouldn't coz I'm a vegetarian) I could not eat anything else that day.
So, fine, just don't eat anything else? Well, that might be a plan, but the problem is that that kind of food doesn't fill you up for very long. Because of the high fat and low fibre content the food is intoa nd out of your stomach ina whisper - and then you feel hungry again. And it is moreish too, so you want more because it tastes nice.
Can you see what I am saying. Personally, I avoid all fast food, even the veggie stuff, just because I can eat so much more (and therefore be more satisfied) by eating healthier stuff, which won't make me so fat and makes me feel full for longer.
But then again, maybe I'm just boring and middle aged.

nah. you dont sounds boring or middle-aged. im glad that your offering to give me advice here.
today i felt so energized. well yeah i stayed up last night until like 3 30 and then woke up at 5 50. but i wasnt too tired at school and i played knockout with the guys and a couple other girls. And i WON! i was like "JYESS!!!!" i made so many baskets on the first try too! haha even though i was wearing 2 jackets a shirt and a tie all day. i got really hot and really sweaty but thats ok i had fun. lemme just say i felt really good about myself. =D
im gonna try to eat more healthy and stay away from the fast food. i know a few years back in 6th grade i had my gullbladder taken out. For like a month or so i was on a strict diet. well i thought it was. i could have no fried or greasy foods. it kept me away from all that bad stuff. i think i lost some weight. and i felt really good afterwards when i started school and running again. i felt liek i could actually do something. it felt good.
I think maybe i should try for that again.

Go to the BMR calculators - there's a link at the bottom of every page. Input your weight, age and height and then click calculate - then scrolldown a bit and it will tell you your own BMR -your basal metabolic rate- which is the number of calories you will burn if you don't do anything. Then it will give yuoa couple of alternatives if you are moderately active or very active. But the lowest BMR is the minimum number of calories your body will burn if you lie in bed all day (unless you believe in RMR - which soe prefer to use). The difference is negligible. There is lots of info in the tutorials about it (links at bottom of every CPH page).

Hi my name is Katelyn. I started dieting when I was 14. I was 5'6 and weighed 155 pounds. Now I'm 17 and I weigh 130. I do yoga every other day and it makes me feel good to eat healthy. I would like to lose about 10 more pounds but I'm comfortable at my current weight.
I found it hard to lose weight at first because my family didn't support me. My parents didn't think it would be healthy for a fourteen year old girl to go on a diet. They thought I was going to become anorexic or something. They were kind of right. I'm a rather passive-agressive person though, and when my mom said, "It's really hard to lose weight I don't think you'll be able to do it." That was it. I started starving myself. Anytime someone tells me I can't do something, I do it. I lost ten pounds in two weeks but I was a wreck. I couldn't even think straight.
I don't know what made me stop. I think it was a chocolate eclair. lol. Thank God for chocolate eclairs, that eclair saved my life. Anyway now I don't do any extreme diets, only healthy diets. Some advice I'd give to a young girl about to go on a diet; don't do it for the wrong reasons. Don't do it because someone told you you wouldn't be able to. If your reason for going on a diet has anything to do with control your setting yourself up for an eating disorder...

Um, sorry...but what's a Rockstar? I guess I am ignorant, but I've never heard of it.
What about trying some baked chips? Still not super healthy, but healthier, and they actually taste pretty good.
Weigh-in challenges:
Go check out the challenge thread...it is where a bunch of people get together, and each person sets their own personal weight goal that they want to reach in a specified period of time. For example, this Halloween challenge that we are on now started at the begiining of September, if I remember correctly, and it ends Halloween day. So for my own personal goal, I said I would try to be 132, down from 140 (I got down to 134, but am now back up to 137 So I don't know if I'll quite make it.) But anyway, so you can set as big or as little of a goal as you want. And then we all just cheer each other on. this is the first challenge where we've had teams. At the end the team with the highest percentage of pounds lost will "win."
I'm okay. This is homecoming week, and we have all these dress up days...so today was, like, famous characters day? And my friends and I did Star Wars, and I dressed up as Yoda, and it definitely rocked my green pointy ears off

Cool!
I've never been to like a real concert...well, like I've heard the Nashville Symphony and stuff and that was super cool..but I'd like to go to like a country concert someday.
You know I don't think I've ever had an energy drink? Vault is what's big here right now.
