I don't like the fact that there are stereotypes...but i can accept it. I understand that stereotypically, I am pretty much a nerd. Yes, I study, yes I care about my grades, and yes, I've made straught A's for two straight years going on three. I enjoy Star Wars and Star Trek. But I DO NOT have taped glasses, carry a pocket protector, or wear suspenders...
I have a LOT of different friends though, I am not really part of a geek clique. I have my smart kid friends, some "emo" type friends, some regular just all around nice people (a "stereotype" i would like to think I fit into...) So, I'm really not sure.
I do try not to label people until I get to know them...but many people really do fit under the labels that have come to be..
With the walk-a-thon thing....see, we wouldn't all be going at the same speed. You might be able to go at a speed of three miles per hour, while Atta can bump it up to four, and I might be doing the best I can at 2.8...that's the fun of it. You won't know how fast everyone else is going, so you have to push yourself to try to be going faster than them so that you can win the...er...nothing...

No, I think it all needs to be in one place...you set aside a trime that you know you can do the whole three miles at once, without stopping, not a little bit here and a little bit there...

Bien.
My holidays are going to be busy. Tomorrow my grandparents (Dad's parents) are coming to our house. We are hving creamed trukey, peas, and cornbread. Friday we are going to their house, along with the rest of my Dad's family (well, half of it...my aunt and her family are currently overseas..) for the whole big turkey, dressing, veggies, everything. Then Saturday I half to work and we are going to try to get the Christmas tree up. Sundy my mom's brothers and their families are coming to our house for a big Thanksgiving dinner. So, lots of famliy food and fun.
I have decided not to stress over the holidays. To be truthful, I really don't want to worry about my calorie intake. I don't want to have to count everything up. I just want to enjoy it. I do hope I won't overeat too badly, but if I want another helping of sweet potato cassrole, you better believe I'm going to go get it. Thanksgiving only comes around once year; I have however long I need to get twenty pounds off.
Hope everyone is enjoying their time off from school!

Wow, that sounds great. I love getting to see my family.
And honestly, I think it's perfectly okay not to count every single morsel that goes into your body, because this is a time of happiness and enjoying family company while you can, not, "Well this slice of tukey is 200 calories..." and so on. So good for you, and I hope your holidays are well enjoyed.
That last comment goes to everyone, by the way!
-Kelly.

Welcome to the forum! I remember being 13, it was so fun...those were the days.
What type of games do you play? You mean like playstation games and stuff? I love reading too. Horror books, but the only art I do is writing poems and stories- I've tried drawing, but it took me four hours to draw an apple!
Took my sister five minutes...

Ooh, I like writing. And reading. I can read pretty much anything except really scary gory horror, really...ahh...what's the word...in depth descriptive romance, and I don't like books with prfanity. But I LOVE witches and wizards and dragons...

Maybe you should try and get some pictures of healthy, toned people off the internet, or pictures of fashionable clothes you'd like to wear, write down a list of inspirational quotes, etc. Maybe keep switching your exercise up- I do that, otherwise I'll start to dread it.
You don't have to do too long at first. First I aimed for as long as I could manage- it turned out to be 1 1/2 mins- weeks later I was doing 30mins plus with ease. Push yourself, but not too far and you'll be fine.
I find when I exercise, if I keep thinking about how hard it'll be, I don't get around to it. Just dive in head first and swim.

Alright... well I start off with a little bit about myself...
I'm 17 years old and a senior in high school. I played Water Polo year around until the end of this last season. I swam for two years for the betterment of my polo skills and speed. I just applied for colleges, yuck!, and I'm crossing my fingers for UCLA or UCSD. But we'll see how that turns out.
But here is the problem, when I stopped playing, the weight started gaining. I'm not fat... I'm just not where I want to be... my weight loss goal is 20lbs. Get back to where I orginally was, which was 145lbs and I am current between 160-165lbs. No fun! So right now I just need to figure out a plan... on how I want to shed off the pounds. I'm a water nymph but taking a break from it, I don't necessarily enjoy running, but I do it. I think what I need to concentrate on is my food intake, I love food. I'd rather die fat and happy than anarexic and depressed. Ya know? But I just need some discipline and some motivation to really work everything off.

Yeah...at least soon we'll all be slim and happy, a nice in between.
Am I the only one, or did Christmas just not feel like Christmas at all? No excitement.

| There was no snow this year for x-mas. I did not care but it just seems more like fall then the middle of winter here in ohio. It's kind of disorientating(sp?) when there's actual sun in January. But you always know when it's christmas because everyone suddenly has money to do stuff lol

WELCOME MORGAN!
WELCOME JUPITER!
Hope you two are still around.
Morgan---I love food!!! And not this kind This kind . So, I know exactly what you mean.
There are lots of other exercises besides swimming and running, I'm sure can find something you might actually enjoy while a taking a break from the water (btw, never heard of water polo...is it fun? *no, I do it cause it's stupid and I hate it* yeah, I'm an idiot sometimes ) Maybe jump rope, weights, dancing, pilates, tae bo, turbo jam, loads of stuff...

So, I did it. I made a smoothie in my brandnew blender!!! Yay!!!
I've been scared to try it, because I was afraid I'd mess up. But I finallyjust broke down and did it.
Orange juice and blacberries. It was pretty much all we had that was smoothie worthy. Not bad though.
One tip: frozen fruit does not smoothie-fy well. You should let it thaw first.
Yeah, I should have thought of that.

Speaking of blenders.... I attempted to make one with our new blender i've never used. Our other one was honestly 10 years old. But anyways no one tells me that when you plug it in it automatically turns on. So I plug the beast in without the to on and got mauled by frozen peaches and blueberries. I was so stunned I had no idea what was going on for a moment.
Got off of work early so i can finnish this evil history project. Stop distracting me!

Got the project done around 2 am ( yes I did procrastinate all night) and when I turned it in my history looked at me and said " Albert Einstein was not even one of the people on the list." Turns out I was supposed to do Thomas Edison. I almost cried but he was cool and accepted it anyways.
Ps No more blender mishaps!

yeah he knows I can a litttle umm... blonde ( no offense anyone!) sometimes. I did everything I supposed to do...just on someone that was not really important in the 20's.
Uh but now i'm waiting for my dad to move his truck so I can go to the barn. I shudder to think how the stalls are going to be. Theres been flood watches and the barn is literally acorss from tinkers creek. which is no small creek people have died in it. and it's flooded over before. Anyone remember the huge rains we had in the end of July? I got trapped down there the day I was going to Australia. I had to walk a mile down the road and 2 miles up Dunhum hill( sp? lol I go down this street at least twice a day and I have no idea how to spell it). for my dad to pick me up. When we go to the top and the cops who were blocking the street saw us they thought we were insane. And we looked like drowned rats. My dad was so mad. but hey the street was not under water when I went DOWN to the barn. It just did not occur to me in 4 hours it would be . In the arena for and hour and when I come out there's a river around the barn. Other stables were bringing their horses over because it was "high" ground.

Ahh, I've been so busy lately, I haven't been to the forums for a while. Plus I gained 2 lbs. over the holidays, whooo! I'm not worried, though, I'm still at a pretty good weight. I do need to start exercising more, but I never have time. Mom doesn't wanna drive me to the pool.

Hello all! I'm also a teen so after a nice request from clarinetgurl I thought I'd stop by
So I'm 17, would be a junior in high school but I'm doing a foreign exchange. Long story short..I lost 35-40 lbs for my exchange..got here in August and gained 25 of it back. I'm now about 13 lbs heavier than when I first got here and trying to get the rest of it off..and eventually lose even more and become healthy once and for all!
Hey, if you come to Europe, do not assume you can pig out on chocolate and alcohol and not gain weight
haha it's okay though..I'm taking control now!
by the way my English sucks now

Thanks for the warm welcome!
Europe is great!! I love it over here. But I'm in a really boring town..as in, population 600 But I looove what I've seen. How I got signed up..well, I've wanted to do this since middle school, so I did a lot of research and found an organization called Rotary that would let me go.
There was a lot of homesickness in November! They don't celebrate Thanksgiving so I felt like something was missing. I'm doing good now though! The homesickness really wears off.

That's really cool! I know what you mean about the homesickness. I went to this stay-away environmental camp for school one time. It was a week long, and my birthday happened to be during that week. So I was homesick for a little while, but by the end of the week I didn't wanna leave.

Hi Hi,
Dunno if I'm doing this right. How's it going everyone?
I'm 18, which constitutes as a teen, and I am trying to lose weight, so joining this forum seemed like a logical idea.
I'm down from 68kg to 60kg in about 2 months. The first 5 were unexpected, I only lost them coz I started working over the summer, but I was quite happy anyway.
Anyway I used to be a skinny little 50kg size 8 (in Australia), so I would love to be at that weight again one day. I'm getting loads of inspiration from all you fellow weightlosers out there lol.
Hope this post wasn't too lame...

Wow, only 600 people? And i thought my town was small. There are 1300 just in our high school
Wow, you did it through Rotary? That's pretty cool. We have been hosting...I think five excahnge students at our school this year. Brazil, Russia, Khazakstan, Russia, and...somewhere else. I have no idea who they did it with.
I am kind of involved in here Rotary here. We have a club at school called Interact...it is a spin-off of Rotary, kinda.
Flip: Glad you're back! You sound much happier! So, what kind of yummy healthy meals are you cooking? I'm doing very well, thanks.
Hempmeister: welcome to ! Heaven17 is right, not lame at all. Wow, congrats on all the weight loss! That is great! I feel sure you can get down to your original weight. If you need any tips, check out the tutorials on the home page! Keep us posted!

Thank you so much HS and CG for your warm welcomes :D.
Well, I really love food lol, specially the kinds that are bad for u. And i HATE exercise. So my technique is to:
1) grit my teeth and do it (diet and exercise).
and 2) Keep busy and on my feet doing something. This is why working helped so much. I worked in the womens clothing section of a department store so I never got to sit down.
I do that whole eating a small meal every 3 hours, or try to anyway. And I do bikeriding for exercise coz its the only thing that I find fun enough to stick to, although I feel like I'm too old so it's a bit embarassing lol.
My inspiration comes from RESULTS. That's the thing that has worked most for me. The more I lose weight, the better I feel and the more I want to keep going. Also, I measured myself today (waiste, hips etc), and I'm going to weigh and measure myself once a week, as there is a big incentive not to keep dissapointing myself.
Well good luck all, hope to hear from you soon!

Vege chilli..
I just mix and match different things flavours and spices in stead of using salt ive come up with some pretty good stuff if i do say so my self
Ive gone of meat at the moment..didnt really eat alot of it but have stopped eating it all together !!
And can i ask..im not the only one here who eats there musli with water insred of milk?? *embarresed*
