Hi everyone,
In another thread I mentioned that perhaps one day there would be a forum that was just for teens. Peter suggested I start at least a thread for us.
So, here it is. If you are a teen and you frequent these fourms, step up and introduce yourself. I think generally teens aren't as worried about keeping in shape and all that, so it would be neat if we could support each other.
Well, I'll come back and really introduce myself if some teens come in. Maybe tell us either what grade you're in or how old you are (but you don't have to if you don't feel comfortable sharing your age, of course.) And um...your diet and exercise goals...things you like to do...just whatever you want to tell us so we can get to know each other.

I know for a fact I'm not...

Pretty please?

I was hesitant to post because I'm terrible at this sort of thing, but, fine, I'll start.
Hi, I'm Sarah, and I'm 17. I'm a senior in high school, and I really like to read, write, learn, and hang out with my friends and boyfriend. My favorite band is Incubus, and I enjoy the works of George Orwell as well as any author who tracks current events. My favorite color is red, I think cows are cool. Also, I could eat fruit all day.
I started browsing this forum to help me maintain a healthy lifestyle. I'm 5'4", 119 pounds, and my weight loss goal is 5 pounds.
And I feel like a dork now. Talking about myself does that to me.

Lol. Don't feel like a dork!
Thanks for posting.
So, I'm only 16, and I'm a junior. It's awesome that you like to write...so do I. I taking a writing course right now from institutechildrenslit.com I should probably be wroking on it instead of being on here so much, but what can I say, I'm addicted
Uh...this year I'm going to be taking Physics, Geometry, Spanish 1, Journalism, U.S. History, English 11, Marching Band, and Concert Band. (We're on block schedule).
I think it's really hard to be a teen trying to eat healthy/lose weight because no on else your age seems to care. I'm amazed at m,y friends who can order the quarter pounder meal from McDonalds and not think a thing about it. But, that's how I used to be.
Okay, so, again, glad you posted IO. Maybe now some other people will

I'm a teen! I'm eighteen. I'm going to be nineteen in September. I'm getting old! Well, older. Anyway, I started losing weight by using the CPH diary section when I was 17. I think it's awesome that you guys are paying attention to your health at such a young age. It's such a great way to set your self up for a healthy life. I've read so much on this forum from people in their 30s and 40s wishing that they would have had a healthier lifestyle and they are just starting to change their life around.

Okay then, here goes. I'm a 19-year-old girl in England and am currently studying an English Language degree at uni.
I've always sort of lived in the shadow of my other female friends who were all 1 or 2 sizes smaller than me, and adored by the guys, and I've always felt like the token chubby girl. In all fairness I'm not really overweight too much, although my BMI is like 25.3 or something so technically I guess I am. I've been really struggling for a while now to lose 10lbs and have been for a few years but it won't seem to budge. I've become a cheerleader at Uni too, which doesn't really help I suppose because all the squad girls are iddybiddy little Britney-christina-jennifer things lol but I really want to shift those lbs before I start my next uni year.
I've spent a lot of time trying to make myself who I want to be, a complete image make-over (I've even dyed my hair) and when I do this I'll be finished.

How's everyone doing this week?

| Ah, no. Uni is short for University- I suppose it's the equivalent of going to College in America. The university I go to is Cardiff University in Wales though, which is quite a good one as far as I know. I like it anyway lol.

Hello flip and sunshiine Glad you made yourselves known
I'm with flip. I hope this can become a place where we all encourage each other as teens, not just "hi, I'm a teen, nice to see you, good bye"
If everybody else doesn't want that, okay, I guess. But that's how I'm going to treat it.
So, is everyone currently in school? We started back today here in good ole tennessee. I have physics, geometry, journalism, and band, just as I anticipated. I think Journalism/Band will be my favorite, Physics the hardest, and Geometry the dullest, most boring, and worst.
Uh, sunshiine and Flip, what are your weight loss/health/exercise goals? (You're the only ones who didn't say so )
Okay, I'm out.

Hidy! Sorry, I meant to get on last night, and I did, but it wouldn't let me sign in for awhile, and then I had to go to bed.
This weekend...well, I am working today. I work at my aunts business...she has a lot of those bouncy inflatable things (bounce, a slide, etc.) in this big room and she books parties. On busy saturdays she asks me to work.
But...the big part of the weekend is going to be talking to my mom about something important. And of course you guys want to hear all about it, right?
The day before yesterday I had to run an errand. The teacher I had to talk to was on her lunch break, so I just stayed in the cafeteria to talk to my friends until she was finished.
So i'm talking to two of my three best guy friends, and after a while one of them was like, do you want to sit down? And he stands up to give me his seat.
Now I understand this was very polite of him. All of my guy friends are very great guys. But I have a reputation for being stubborn about not taking people's seats, and I didn't want to sit down anyway. So I said no, again and again as he continued to tell me to.
He took Spanish last year...I didn't. So he starts telling me to sit in Spanish, except in full sentences. Saying other stuff that I can't understand. And he seems really worried that I can understand. He keeps saying "You promise you can't understand me? You promise you don't know what I said?"
And I was like, no, I don't. And every time he started to tell me, my OTHER guy friend was like, I'll slap you if you do. And so i said he shouldn't be saying bad things about me in Spanish. And N. was like, it's not bad.
Well, I couldn't figure out why he wouldn't tell me if it wasn't bad, you know? But I just let it go. But it bugged me the rest of the afternoon.
So the next morning, yesterday, I got to school and went to the cafeteria. We all hang out at the same table until the bell rings. And I pulled N. aside and made him tell me what he said.
Turns out what he said was, "Sit because he likes you" and "Sit because he is hopeful that you like him". He was talking about my other friend that was sitting there, J.
So, yesterday was completely awkward. I have first block with both these guys, and my other guy friend, and...I could hardly look any of them in the eye, cause I didn't know...what to do or say.
This is the first time this has ever happened to me. no one's ever "liked" me before.
So, yesterday afternoon we were all going to a surprise party for one of our other friends who just graduated and is going far away to college. And that night he asked me...well, he never actually asked me...but he did, except he didn't actually say it...oh it's confusing to write, but you know what I'm saying right?
So, I asked if I could have the weekend to think it over. And he looked really...deflated that I couldn't just tell him right then.
So, I have a big decision to make this weekend, and I want to talk to my parents and see what they think (hope that isn't lame, but even if it is I'm doing it anyway).
I'll let you know how it turns out.
Um, flip...hope you are not offended...but are you a guy or a girl? *embarrased* Sorry, but I just can't tell.
I have been sticking to good eating mostly, with a few slips. I'll try to post more later.

Aw CG!That's great!! Hurrah for youse.
Yeh, I've eaten horrendously this weekend, but I'll elaborate on that in my diary later when I get time to do it. But other than that my weekend was.......interesting. Lol.
Went out friday night and met n kissed a really sweet guy *blush* but not sure that's gonna go anywhere, and had yummy fajitas at a mates saturday night but had to get up at 6am for a car boot sale (i guess thats a yard sale for you guys?) sunday morning *yawn*.
But weighed myself this morning. Haven't lost a pound. Not surprising, but still dissappointing. I mean I haven't put on any, and for some odd reason I feel slimmer, but I know I'm not. Frustrating. And upsetting. And we have chocolate ice-cream that I really want to go drown my sorrows in but I'm going to take a bath instead and force myself not to binge on it.
So I've got a terrible case of the blues and mean reds today (for those of you who don't get that mean reds bit, go watch Breakfast at Tiffanys, as I'm going to do after my bath.).
Oh well.

Mmm, fajitas sound good.
I'm sorry you haven't lost anything. Keep working at it! I hope you were able to stay away from the ice cream...I know how hard it is not to eat when you're disappointed about something...when I failed my drivers test two weeks...oh, i wanted to eat all the junk feed when had in the house. (I'm retaking it tomorrow by the way...and I WILL pass it ...and then I think I'm going to get lunch at fast food before I go back to school. I can afford, we have after noon band til five tomorrow and will be burning off so many calories. )
I haven't been drinking enough water lately, and my body can tell. I mean, I literally get thirsty for water, and I used to not do that.
Oh, and lemore--how the...car boot sale?...go? Yes, it's a yard sale here, if that is what you're talking about. Glad you clarified, I would have been so confused

Oh your not a dork. Here's what a dork does,(this happened to me)
So you're sitting down trying to impress a group of guys at lunch. They're having a red face competition to see who can get the reddest face. Well, you dismiss the fact that you have a stuffy nose. So you're making your reddest face ever when pow! A long string of booger comes out ling a slingshot and back at you...and it's at lunch and now no one can eat. Don't worry, this wasn't recent. It happened to me in 3rd grade but still.
P.S. i'm a teen for posting obviously! I'm a sophomore
P.P.S Congrats CG on your bf!

Muhaha Go for it Atta.
So..I just walked 3 miles on the treadmill. I hope to get two more after church. But...I really want some cheetos. i may just eat them. Or I may not. I REALLY want to be 145 or less by the end of the year...
...but right now i REALLY want some cheetos.
But I already ate an apple this afternoon. And I had dessert at church. but just the tiniest bit. I'm telling you, I feel like I did soooo good. There were two kinds of banana pudding, a chocolate cake with chocolate fudgey icing, apple pie, peach cobbler, banana cream pie...
...I got away with just the tiniest bit of banana pudding. And a big slice of watermelon. AND for the real meal there was KFC original recipe and extra crispy chicken, biscuits, baked beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, and cole slaw. All I had was one drumstick and a biscuit! YEAH!
So how's school going for everybody? i am really busy with band, mostly. What kind of clubs are any of you involved in? Drama? Choir? Sports? Student Council? Anything? What about classes? What do you like? Not like?

Good job Clarinetgurl and resisting the temptation! You go girl! Only a drumstick and a biscut! Hooray!
Me I'm trying out for the muscial. No I can't sing but I can act. I'm in an acting class at school now. Thats why I took tap lessons was so I can learn to tap dance for the musical. I hope I've learned enough over the summer!
I did basketball freshman year and was on the freshman b team. I really want to make the sophomore team so I'm trying to get in shape for that.

Ooh, musical. Do you know what you guys are doing yet? We did the Sound of Music last year...I think we may be doing Grease this year...
I kinda can't believe that can put on a play like that at a highschool. I mean, great music and all...but kinda suggestive?
Basketball, that's cool too. I have a friend who used to be really into basketball. she was really good too...she has moved on to golf now though
Let us know when you make it, we'll throw a party!
I saw in your diary that you're getting really close to that nine minute mark! Awesome!

Lol. Well, aren't we all kind and gentle people Looks like I will need to find someone I need to get back at to fit in!
I ate the cheetos. *shrug* I really didn't feel all that bad about it. I just ate one serving (we don't have any oranges right now. sounds really good though...)
Now I remember why we don't eat three weeks worth of Italian food in one sitting. Why? Because the after feeling can only be described as unbearably uncomfortable.
Yes, I just ate half a huge bowl of chicken alfredo, a slice and a half of pizza, and three breadsticks. Fattening, yes. Calorific, yes. Probably about 2,000 more cals than I'm allowed to have in three weeks, yes.
But...
Good? Yes. Fullfilling? Yes.
Guilt? Strangely, no. Why no? I feel sick to my stomach, but I do not feel at all bad about eating all those calories. It felt good, I enjoyed it. I liked not knowing or caring how many calories i was eating.
I can't go back to not knowing or caring all the time. I have to worry, I have to know. But tonight it felt good, really good.
I feel like I should feel guilty though...
...oh well. Whatever it was, it will come off. I know it will. Treadmill, here I come. and until then...wow, I just really don't care. This feels great.
Don't mworry, I am not about to fall off the healthy life style wagon. I am enjoying my size ten jeans and medium shirt too much (that's right, all the rest of my shirts are still large, but I do have ONE medium) for that.
Just had too share how to good tonight was. tomorrow...I'm back to apples and grapes and yogurt smootie cups. Promise.

I hope you both can achieve your goals. Me too. all of us.
Scratch that. No hope. I know. We can do this. No worries.
Atta, I like number best.
Princess, number three. Know you can always talk to us, okay?
Okay, here are my pretty little goals in a list:
~get down to 120 pounds
~tighten up belly, arm, and leg fat
~get back at...somebody...somewhere...for something that I don't know of yet...
~be able to run a mile, any length of time (i instated this one after I found out what Atta was trying to do...but right now I'll take running at any speed.)
So Atta...how do i work up to being able to run a mile? What's the slowest speed you can go and it still be considered "running". At 4.0 I'm pretty mjuch running...I can walk, but i have trouble keeping up
Right now I can walk between 3-3.5 for two three miles, no problem. so, I think I'm doing pretty good. Do you just bump it up slowly?
Thanks. Have a good night everyone. Or morning. Or whatever. I don't know how the time zone thingie works out, what time it is in Jolly Ole' England.

Hey... I'm glad somebody thought of starting this board. I just found out about this site, which I think is great. Especially the activity calculator. Did you know you burn 530 calories just by sitting in a classroom for 5 and a half hours? Awesome. So, to introduce myself, I'm a girl, 16, going to sophmore (school starts on Wednesday). I just came back from Europe and need to catch up, that's why I'm not going to junior if you were wondering... :-) Anyway, I love reading, listening to music, playing my guitar, hanging out with my friends, and volunteering (especially if it concerns ecology or people in need). I don't really enjoy sports, but I like dancing (to ska and everything else), swimming, jogging is ok, riding a bike, and... that's all. And hiking.
Concerning my health... I'm about 5' 6'', 125 pounds. During the summer, I didn't really gain weight, but I developed some fat mass (especially on my stomach) and probably lost muscle mass, so what I want to do is exercise more so I'll be able to burn calories more easily. I'm thinking jogging at least three times a week and riding to school on my bike... it should help. But the problem is motivation, ya know, so I'd keep doing it. Well, I'll think of something. Good luck on... getting back at those jerks... lol.

Welcome cookie monster! I hope we don't intimidate any guys on the forum. It's okay were not man haters
Clarinetgurl - I don't know how slow you could go and consider it running...it all depends. Ex. My sister and I went for a "brisk walk" around the neighborhood once but as I found out to keep up with her "brisk walk" I had to trot. My brisk walk was her walking normal. ( I have short legs) So i don't know.

Cookie monster! Ahhhh! I love your username. Soo cute!
Correct me if I'm wrong...is this an all-girl forum?
So...what was going to say? Oh yeah.
BOWLING! Bowling is awesome, you go princess.
Hiking rocks too. We should all meet and go hiking. And then bowling. And then we should eat. Because we would have burned a lot of calories. Yep. *giggles*
This lemonade tastes like cough syrup. Cause I know you guys wanted to know that
Europe, fun. What's in Europe? I want to go to Ireland...
Cinema, singing, listening to music, yep yep yep. Me too. Favorite movie? (Are the called movies? Films? Cinemas? (I don't think it's cinemas...))
What else do I like doing...well, getting on the treadmill. Reading, a lot. Um...posting on here...hanging out with friends, of course. And...well, everything was already named, I suppose. Movies...eating! ...sleepovers...bowling...listening to music...texting...going somewhere...(trips...vacations...nights out...anything).
I have aphysics test tomorrow! Noooo! Helllpp! Must majorly study tonight.
But...I got a 104 on the quiz!! So that made me feel better.
I did very good lunch and breakfast today...but had some cheetos when we got home. Only 90 calories. I will walk it off, i promise. I vow.

Okay well the jerk in my class just got more....like a jerk. So he still thinks hes a ladies man. I honestly thought that day he was over it. But I was proven wrong. He comes up to me and leans forward and says "Still have a crush on me?" And I just give him this dirty look and I was like "Don't get ahead of yourself," And then later I was talking about this girl who left to go to this other school. I said "Yeah I'm kind of bumbed out because she read my lines," He gives a little wink and a smile and said "I'll read your lines,"
Jerk.

One thing I envy about men is their ability to eat so much! The guy, the "ladies man" , was eating backstage and he can eat so much but he is sooo skinny! Same with all my guy cousins. 5 pancakes...5 pancakes! He ate 5 pancakes and I can wrap my whole hand on his arm. Men and their stupid metabolism!
I did get some revenge. I got him to play a rock paper sissors game. It's basically the same thing except you hold hands (with your left hand) and play rock paper sissors with your right hand. THen if you win, you slap his hand. I slapped it HARD. ANd when he won and he was supposed to slap me...it wasn't anything. He goes "I'm not going to hit you, your a girl," I just smiled "okay" And slapped really hard. THen I was like "Eh, your no fun you can't hit hard enough,"

Lol, you're ccrazy. i guess I just mostly ignore idiot jerks. I'd like to slap them really hard sometimes...but i couldn't. I yell sometimes...but then they just laugh...so what's the use?
My hair's wet. cause i just got out of the shower. So I should go dry it. Yeah. Okay, good night!

I-cant-sleep!!! So I fell asleep at 12:30 then woke up at 6:45. Of course yesterday I took a nap. To keep up on a sleeping schedule I can not take a nap at all today so that when i go to bed I'll actually be tired.
I got a delima at school. Well it's not really a delima I know what I need to do. A group of my friends have really gotten crazy this school year, like drinking and getting hung over. 1) Their too young to be drinking 2) Too much alchohol is bad for you 3) They're just really screwed up. I hate to do this but I just can't hang out with some people whose lifestyles are really different from mine.
Anyway on a more non-depressing-serious serious topic I ran a mile under 9 min! It was so easy. I'll have to try to get it as close to 8 as possible so that when I have to run the mile on a track I can for sure get it under 9. I ran a 8.56 min mile I think. Ugh and so much homework! .
I'm really freaked about the musical too. I want to try out for this girl Tess or for Patricia. Heres the problem. I can semi-dance, I cant sing, but I can act. So here is what I face:
Tess: Not a lot of singing which is a plus. In fact she has only two singing lines in the whole play. The down side is she's a big part and that tends to be "reserved" for Seniors and Juniors...but I think I still have a shot.
Patritica: I really feel like I can act this part out. Only problem. She has a lot of singing lines....uh-no. That's not good.

I'm great, thanks for asking. How are you?
Too bad about the friends Atta. But you're right, you really don't need to surround yourself with them...eventually they will rub off on you.
So...we have three really regular members right now, right? Me, and Princess , and Atta ...and then cookie monster . Are you going to become a regualr, cookie monster
Everybody else who posted at the beginning and didn't come back are LOSERS I'm just kidding; I promise. But I do wish you would come back
Go for Tess, Atta, go go go!
Congrats about the mile . So, why are you trying to do this again
I've done very good today. (Read about it in my diary, I don't feel like posting it twice...actually I haven't even posted it there yet, but I will.)
I shall tell you all about my lovely day later...no, I don't think I will. Nothing out of the ordinary happened...
Off to geometry...ugh I think I'll have a small snack ...1000 cals left for today, and I don't want to eat that many at one meal.

Well on the first day of school when we met our P.E. teacher it came up that we would have to run a mile. And he said we would be graded on effort. I figure if I can get it in less than 9 minutes (which as I found out is easy so I'm aiming for somewhere around 8 minutes) I'll get a hundred. And it's been a good goal. So far I've lost 2 pounds

Awesome. I wish I had that kind of motivation. I wonder who I could get to tell me to run a mile or else (fill in horrible disaster). Or maybe reward would be better. Run a mile and you get (fill in wonderful reward).
I'm so sick of being sick.
Not finished with the geometry...but almost...I took a break for supper..then came down here...
So...ooh, who just read, is reading, or is about to read a really good book? I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours.
