i am thinking of buying a scale but i heard many stories when people get on the scale get the number then do it again a minute later and get a different number, so i dont want this type of thing to happen to me. If you have any suggestions about what scale is most accurate, please tell me.

When I would use a mechanical scale I noticed if I stepped on the scale 5 times in a row the weight would vary by 2 pounds but it was easy to see what the average reading was. Over a period of weeks and months the mechanical scale worked just fine.

I've been using a Digital Scale for close to 15 years it always gives a reading that is within PLUS or MINUS .5 pounds of my weight. It's very accurate. I believe there are Digital Scales out there today that have an accuracy of PLUS or MINUS .2 pounds.

If you are planning on losing 20, 50 or 100 pounds just about any scale you buy should work fine.

Also keep in mind that as you lose fat you may also be gaining muscle, which weighs more.  You'll probably get a more accurate idea of what your physical condition based on your appearance rather than your weight.  So if you get a scale, you might want to check out one that also measures your body fat percentage.  Also, I've heard that skinfold calipers are actualy more accurate than scales -- and cheaper. :)
