My kids watch me do work out videos at home and they have asked to have one of their own. They are 7 & 9 and so far many I have seen seem geared towards preschoolers. What have you tried? What do you like?
Thanks for your help!

Ouch!
I thought kids didn't need 'structured exercise' because they get what they need from play?
Or have computer games and being driven to school really crippled children's ability to run about and have fun...
I did a double-take when I saw the title of this post and read it just because I thought it couldn't be right.
Just shows how behind the times I really am... "O tempora, o mores" as one of those Latin orators put it.

When I was a kid we rode our bikes every free minute. Even on rainy days we found something to keep us moving, like roller skating in the garage. Maybe times have changed and structure is needed.
Or maybe you're just setting a positive example with your exercise and your kids want to copy you. WONDERFUL!!!
I just spent a week with one of my daughters... helping with the newborn and the older kids. I must admit that the most exercise we saw on TV was helping Dora Explorer by pointing to whatever she couldn't find on the TV screen.
I don't know anything about the subject myself but I hope you get some good replies.

I think its really awsome that your kids want to excersie. This will be good for them when they get older. My kids are 3,5 and 6. They love to copy what their parents do and it is such a good example. My kids just love to do yoga with me. At first they just tried to do the postures, but then I realized they like it, so I showed them how to do some of the easier postures corectly. There is acctually some books and DVDs on yoga for kids. There are a lot of kids out there who like this kinda stuff. You might want to give it a try. I'm looking because for their own video. Yes it is because they see me doing my workouts and they want to do one too.
We live on an acre, we have a nice play set, they have roller blades, bikes, basketball hoop...plenty of trees to climb and they do do all of that...however they do tend to be a little more 'fair weather'. When the rain is a perpetual drizzle they're more likely to play with legos or color or be creative. I also homeschool them so they don't have recess or gym to get them going. They are by no means unhealthy.
I know Denise Austin has a video called Fit Kids...however it got some scorching reviews on Amazon. I can follow her routines ok, it usually takes me a few times to get it though. She's not great at cueing or breaking down the steps. So I don't want them to get frustrated. I looked at one called something like Kick Fit Jr. it looked fun and a little more for their age group. Just looking to see what others may use.
Didn't mean to scare anyone :?

They like to watch me do my Pilates, and I've seen them mimic me but they don't seem to have a genuine interest in that. My mom does Yoga so maybe I'll have her teach us some moves.
Thanks for the advice! :yumm:

| I haven't seen much for kids, except yoga, but I did see a new Pilates video that you do with your baby.

There is a new one out called "Fit Kids Club" by Shaun T. Our kids had the same idea. They love to play outside but there are times when the weather will not be suitable for them and they want a video like Mom and Dad has to workout. We ordered the "Fit Kids Club" and when it arrived they ripped it open and haven't stopped yet! It has a neat flyer with it. The kids workout on one day and the next day they do or eat something healthy. The chart really helps. Also, there are two different workouts. I am a PE Teacher and took it to school for our Thursday fitness workouts and the 3rd and 4th graders had a ball! I don't think we are supposed to market on this site.
