I love Billy Blanks' Tae-bo. You guys tried it? What do you think of it?
For those of you who really want to lose weight, I really recommend Taebo. I liked his first series of videos. The other ones, I think, lack the fun music and motivation. You can buy the videos online or in the store... they're everywhere.

| hi, i too am a huge billy blanks fan. i started out on his first videos about 4 months after having my first son, within 3 months i lost all of the weight i gained plus some(40 pds in all),and i never even changed what i ate, then :( i started college and i stopped doing the taebo and have gained back 15pds, but my bf just bought me a bb cardio video, and he's getting me his new bootcamp ones for mothers day, so i can't wait to get back into it. i am the biggest advocate for taebo because i saw for myself what it can do. i love it and recommend it to anyone who wants to lose weight and get some nice muscle, honestly, when i was doing the taebo i probably never looked so good ever, not even when i was a teenager, !!!! so anyway, tomoorrow morning i start taebo again, can't wait!!

I have a funny story about this subject.
I was at a health convention of some kind helping my son-in-law with his business and Billy Blanks was doing a show on stage every few hours. I was sick of getting requests to add Tae Bo to my calories burned calculator, and got the idea to ask Billy if he could help.
I knew I wouldn't get much time with him, so I also wrote a note explaining what I wanted... an estimate of how many calories his workouts burned.
After one of the shows I aggressively walked towards him as he left the stage for a back door. Just as aggressively his staff walked towards me! Anyway in the few SECONDS we talked he was very nice and took my note.
Then a few weeks later I got an e-mail from someone on his staff and Billy ended up giving me an estimate based on other data I had.
It's very hard to get data like this. Usually companies, like Curves, just decline. So I became a Billy Banks fan, too!

| Great for him to do that, and a smart business move. He or a staffer obviously checked out your site and liked what it provided and had to say or you wouldn't have gotten any info from them at all. Good job.

| I have been doing the Tae bo exercises. I have been using the "Strength within" dvd. I just ordered the "Fat Blaster" dvd (red cover) because I felt like My body was getting used to working out to the other one. I should be getting it soon in the mail (ebay). But I love them. I think its fun compared to the other kinds of exercise dvd's I've tryed.:)

| I just got some tapes of his, I started with Foundations which is recommended to learn the moves, I was wearing my hrm and it said I burned 136 calories in the first 11 minutes, and it was just a practice tape! I think these tapes are going to be a great calorie killer for me and it's fun to try something new and surprise your body.

| And for those who can’t afford Taebo there is Mitch—my friend shared this with me, it’s I haven’t lost a #%@&! pound- but then again laughing does burn calories. Laugh it off: ditty-o.com :) Mitch could be a form of inspiration in a way.

| I saw the regular Tae Bo series by Billy Blake and the live version at the thrift store. I didn't get them because I didn't know which one would have been better. I guess as long as you are moving that it doesn't really matter does it? Then I saw that Billy had a newer one out that uses these bands that go around your shoes. Has anyone tried this? I have been using Kathy Smith's kickboxing video and I wasn't as winded as I usually am. I think I am getting fitter! Can it be? Well Some insight would be great. I am also tight on time so I get up early and do my workout at home before my gym opens up.

I LOVE TAE BO & Billy Blanks!! I have been doing it now for 3 months and have lost 30 lbs. I started out with the basic workout that came out about 10 years ago. After doing that for about a month, I decided it was time to try a tougher workout. I didn't know which one would be best to go to, so I ended up getting about 7 different DVDs. I have all the boot camps, a cardio workout, and the fat blaster workout - which is my favorite! It is a very fast moving workout, and really challenges you when you use the resistance bands - but also gives you a great workout without the bands!
The other thing I really like about Billy Blanks is that he "talks" to you as if you are his equal and is very supportive and upbeat throughout the workout. I've seen other workout tapes where the person leading you through the workout talks to you like you're a child, or in a condescending manner. Some of those people can get really irritating! lol
I thought I might be going overboard by getting all this Tae Bo stuff, but it's been great. Once one of the workouts starts to feel routine, I take out one of the other workouts and it's fresh again! I started out doing a cardio workout 6 days a week for at least 30 minutes and that helped me to lose 20 lbs. in just under 2 months. I have incorporated strength training into my workout now, and do that 2 times a week and the cardio 3 - 4 times per week for 30 - 40 minutes. Even though I am still working towards a main weight loss goal, I'm already happy with where I'm at because I'm toned like I've never been before, and I feel great! For me, it's all about being healthy... I have a small son to play tag with, and I mean to do it!! :D
Have a great day!!

Nothing more to say!!!!
Seriously. You have lost 10 pounds per month, just by doing tae bo for 30 minutes, 6 days a week???
Did you change your diet?
I am on Weight Watchers. Perhpas I could find 30 minutes a day to do what you did. Boy....I should be seing results soon!
Thanks for the inspiration. Congratulations on your weight loss. You must feel so great!

JediKimmy -
I did change my eating habits, but not necessarily my diet. I am a boredom eater to the MAX, and I have a job where there can be alot of downtime with nothing going on... eating seemed to be the thing I ended up doing. The major change I've made is that I pack my own lunch for at work, and I don't nibble during the down times... at home I make home cooked meals and eat smaller portions.
I haven't tried Weight Watchers myself because I know I won't stick with it for the rest of my life... but my sister-in-law has, and she has lost 48lbs (it might even be more now!) with their diet along with walking and weight lifting.
And I do highly recommend Tae Bo if you're looking for something to try. The first VHS tapes he came out with have a basic and an advanced workout. I did the basic for the first month and it was a great workout for someone just starting out... I could only do 10 minutes the first couple times, and then gradually extended the time once I started getting into shape.
Best of luck to you - I'm sure you'll be seeing those results soon enough!!

Hello Debo99,
Thanks for the tips; I really appreciate it.:D
To be honnest, I already know Tae Bo. I have tried it many times, but not on a regular basis, unfortunately. I had trouble sticking to the workouts because I felt they were too long and I couldn't find the time to do the whole workout. Some of his workouts last 45 to 60 minutes. I got discouraged and quit.
I never realized that you could see results for doing just 30 minutes. You just gave me the boost I needed; the inspiration. With my new eating habits; I am confident. I will try to do it 30 minutes a day for 4 days (to start with) and then increase to 5 or 6 days.
I'll post my results on this forum in a month. Hopefully, it will be as positive as yours!
Again, thanks.

You are so welcome JediKimmy!!
This is really my first time posting, and I didn't want it to seem like it was all about me... I'm really here because I'm looking for support - so your posts have helped me ALOT!
Trust me, even 20 minutes a day will make a difference! It boosts your metabolism... and my feeling is this: even if it's only 10 minutes, it's 10 minutes more than nothing!
I would love to hear your results!! That's a great idea! I'm living very far away from my family and childhood friends, and sometimes it's tough to find some solidarity. So thank you very much!
Debo :P

I have a question for all you tae bo fans..
I used to do kick boxing at my gym until I injured by back. Turns out I was living with a herniated disc for many years because the first chiropractor just told me to stretch when my back was hurting.
Do you think somebody with a bad back and do the workout video?

| The moves are not necessarily difficult to perform, but on some of the DVDs they move very quickly, and I had some problems with balance, and not being able to keep up when I first started out... or even when trying to incorporate the new moves as I add to my workout collection. There is certainly potential for problems with your back on some of the moves if they are not performed correctly... but most of it should not cause you any trouble. This is my non-medically educated opinion :)

Hiya! Only my second post here, I like these boards! Anywho, About 4-5 years ago I started to work out to the original taebo tapes...I couldnt tell you if it worked for me, because I got depressed and lost ambition, well, 4 or 5 years later, guess what, I stepped on the scale, and noticed, OMG i gained 50 pounds!!!!! Im 200 pounds now, :( I cried for a day, and that night I was going through all the VHS tapes I have, (over 500 movies, i could start my own video store!) well I came across all my billy blanks tapes...my my my, the dust collected on those!!!!!!!well I popped one of my new stressless weight control pills, and popped the tape in the VCR. (funny enough id forgotten how to work my VCR for a minute, since i got a dvd player, he he) Anywho...I only worked out to it one day this week, (monday) I couldnt make it all the way through, because I got WAY too winded! Im a smoker. But ill tell you what...its wednesday now, I started my pills on monday, worked out only 1/2 time to billy blanks, and walked for a half hour yesterday...In 2 1/2 days ive lost 2 pounds. Not too shabby for just starting out. I cant wait till I can keep up with the tapes again... Ive slowed my smoking down from 2 packs a day, to 1. Im going to do taebo again tomorrow morning. I had forgotten how fun it acualy is....well, when you can breathe. But ill work it back into a daily routine. I feel it will be a success this time. Ive quit drinking, (which drinking packs on pounds) Ive been sober for 4 months, and have no desire to ever drink again. But in place of that, I began eating a lot. Which is why i decided on dietry supplement pills. So with that, my appitite curbed, and taebo...Im gonna be a knockout again!!!!!! (pst, give my exhusband something to regret... hee hee) ok, well this is long, time to go post somewhere else...:)

Hi zen... If you are looking to try tae bo out for the first time, I would suggest getting a basic workout video first - that also depends on your current fitness level. The basic is pretty basic, but it shows you the moves and makes all the other tapes/dvd's easier to work with. If you can't find a basic tape or dvd, there are two out there called Tae Bo® Cardio Workout and Tae Bo® Flex Workout that I think would be great for people just starting out. They are good workouts, but they aren't the most intense that he has - at least in my experience! :D I guess I mean that they are intense for the person just starting out, and therefore a very good workout, but they don't kill you - if that makes sense. If you are already past the beginners stage, I would recommend the Tae Bo® Fat Blasting 2 Pack, they are very good also.
I've been doing tae bo pretty much exclusively since August of last year and have now lost a total of 40lbs. (I had to stop working out for 3 months because I had some health issues, but I have recently gotten back on the horse!) My current favorite is the total body fat blaster workout, which I STILL haven't completed the entire workout! I do an average of 25 minutes a workout, and it is still intense enough for me to where I have to push myself. I'm sure I would have alot better results if I were to work out every day of the week and cut my caloric intake down to the bare minimum, but I'm trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle for the rest of my life, and I don't want to put demands on my body that I know I won't be able to stick with. I am one of those people that has all kinds of medical problems if I have to much excess weight, and that was my main motivation for getting started. I don't want a quick fix, I want something that I'll be able to sustain for my health in the long run. I hope that makes sense.
As far as your question about which tapes/dvds are the best... I hope I've been able to answer it for you. (Just as an aside here, I was not too excited about the boot camp dvds. I bought the whole set, and haven't used those dvds very much at all. The set did come with the resistence bands, which I WOULD recommend for the other workouts, but you can get those separately too.)
Good luck to you whatever you decide!

I have the old taebo tapes but only do the workouts ocasionally but after hearing about everyone's results and just checking the activity calculator (I did 30minutes of the advanced today-405 calories burned!!!) I should probably do them more frequently
But I'll need to switch them around and keep doing other things too because I get bored pretty quickly.

Hi there
My friend has a taebo video, not too sure which one it is, but it is about half an hour. If I do the video twice (so an hour long), daily.... atleast 5 times a week, will that give me results... how soon can i expect some weght loss? I am also going to try to eat healthier.. Will i get weight loss within 10 days?
Billy blanks has a new promotion of 10 pounds in 10 days lost. how does that work. is it a specific video i need, and diet plan. or can i expect similar results with my video and my own diet plan.
Please help. i really need to lose weight . I just want to make sure that this amount of time at leat 5 times a week, will result in something; or if im working too lenient and need to do more then that to see results
confused
also is just taebo sufficient enough, or do i have to do some other form of exercise like weght training or something..
i really prefer just to be able to do something for one hour a day, one thing, not two types of exercise or anything.

I just revisted my Tae Bo videos this past week after probably a few years off and man! Talk about a workout! Even after years of martial arts practice, running, cycling etc. I still get a good drenching after that 60-minute Advanced workout. I am sore in places I didn't know there was working muscle!

hey, i was wondering, is it okay to change some moves around when ur doing taebo. like i am doing the 30minute power round dvd. some moves, like the hopping one i cant do, because i have flat feet. so can i just do whatever i want. like i normaly do a lot of jumping jacks, or jogging in place.i feel that i sweat more just doing my move.
i always use the dvd as a time outline, so i can start n stop with him. but certain moves, i change a little bit. and i always do the video twice.
its been one week of doing taebo 6 times, and eating not necessairily completely healthy, but healthier and within my calorie intake required for weight loss. :) im wondering, when would some form of weight loss be expected? with in the first month even?

Tae bo is sooo good. When you've finished, you feel so energised- like you can do anything! Just start slow and push yourself a little more every time, and you'll be surprised when you see how far you will go.

I did weight watchers too. I was 180 pounds and got down to 125, took 2 years...extrememly diligent about points.
I do tae bo in this rotation
8 min cardio
Upper Body Spot training w/ weights
Beach Body Butt Video w/ankle weights
day 2
8 min cardio
Lower Body Spot training
Ab and Arms Beachbody Videos
day 3
CARDIO KILL YOURSELF!! ha ha Fat Blastin Cardio, boot camp elite
day 4
Back to upper routine
day 5
Back to lower routine
day 6
CARDIO KILL YOURSELF./ 30 minute interval training.....I do the ancient TAI FIT VHS from 1999...it kicks your butt
Sunday= rest
I have come to realize that with a 5 year old and other responsibilities, if it is important to me to get fit...I will wake up at 5 am every morning and do my workouts before I go to work.
THere is no quick fix...weight w!atchers is awesome....get on board with Billy

Congratulations to you hershekd on your weight loss!
I also do Tae Bo from time to time and have quite a collection of his dvds. Have you ever tried Tae Bo II Get Ripped Advanced 1 & 2? WOW. They are older, but for me, they are the toughest ones to date. I also have his newest ones - the 'Amped' series and found them to be really good, too.
Continued success to you.

I have heard that the Get Ripped are the best ones, but I don't want to pay the money for the other easy workouts in the collection. I just want the advanced ones.
After hearing from a couple of folks, since I build muscle so incredibly easy, that I should actually be doing more cardio than toning. So it should be Cardio/Upper/Cardio/Lower/Cardio/Abs
It is so annoying trying to find the perfect mix. Oh well, at least I am working out every day....well, except Sundays.

When I originally purchased the Get Ripped ones, it was just 2 vhs (wow, that was a long time ago lol) - there was no 'set', just Advanced 1 & 2...and it was at my local Wal-Mart of all places. Since I don't have a vcr anymore, I found the dvds at my local library.

I got my new collection of DVD's yesterday and decided to do the Ultimate Boot Camp 55 minute workout ...........I about died.
I swear, just when you think you have "arrived" on the fitness scene..you change it up a tad and you feel like you are right back to day one.
I am having trouble though coming to grips with the fact that maybe I am not meant to loose any more weight......I am staying at 125 no matter what.........
No one in my family is "skinny" persay, I got all the genes from my mother's side, which is very muscular build, small waist, hips..
I have a 8 1/2 inch differential from my waist to my hips..that really gets old, but my husband said that having hips is not a bad thing ....
I am going to keep trying new tae bo tapes to see the new regime take shape.
