Ciao everyone who's opened this thread,
i hope you are all doing well.  i very much appreciate your time for reading and possibly replying to this post.  i've read many of the threads on this board, and many threads on other boards about turbo jam.  i don't really join many boards, but i've had soooo many problems with beach body and trying to get information i decided to give in.  i have so many things to say, i just don't know where to start, but here i go.

- do you have to be a paying member of million dollar body to use there boards, i have a free membership i can read things but i can't post

- i couldn't find turbo on qvc, and i don't trust ebay, i bought the maxium results set (well my ma did, thanks ma) from beach body and they really put my through the ringer; awful, atrocious, terrible, inefficiant customer service to say the least.  was all the trouble worth it for that set?

ok, on to the more fitness related things::caution:

i'm not a big person, medium/small frame,  i'm 21, 5'4 about i fluctuate between 135- 117 usually 127, i've struggled with anorexia, diet pills, laxatives, purging, and vomitting and i still do, because of these issues and other medical problems that i was born with i have almost no muscle mass and no tone in my body, my fat is fluffy and 95% in one area on my belly from my mid rib cage to my hip bones (i have a puggy over hang as if i've had a child, even though i never have and i've only been with one person and i'm still with them), i don't drink/use drugs/or smoke and i never have, i live on one of the biggest hills in san francisco so i walk constantly for good lenghts up and down pretty steep hills and steps and i usually carry heavy things (my purse alone weights at least 10 pounds, and that's not exaggeration/sarcasm), i keep crazy hours because my fiance works at night and goes to school, ummm i can't think of anything else that my be relavent to my questions

-with reading my above info do you think turbo jam can really help my loose the pooch and gain the muscle/muscle tone i want (ok, i actually need it for my health, not gonna kid you with that)

- i've tried every exercise program (and diet, but i'm not even going to trouble you with that gargancuan list) from tae bo, power yoga, t-tapp, dancing for fitness, greer childers breathing exercises, the gazelle, tamie lee webb, power walking, and going to curves everyday (that's all i can remember at the moment)  they've all proven to be tedious, boring, (except dancing, i love dancing, but it still doesn't yield results) and ultimately ineffective in producing much more then a five pound weight loss and very very very little increase in muscle sooo
is turbo jam better/more entertaining/more effective then the above?

i really appreciate your time, and would very much appreciate feedback, thank you kindly,
kiwi :rabbit: :heart::shooting_star:

i can't speak to all of your questions, but I can add my two cents..
I ordered TurboJam from beachbody, and I know several others on these forums did too.  we all experienced slow delivery and poor customer service.  but i think most are happy with the product nonetheless (once it finally does arrive, that is).

as to your fitness question, my opinion is that you would be better off doing a combination of cardio work and weight-training.  then you are building lean muscle and burning fat more efficiently.  this will give you the toned look instead of the flab it seems like you are seeing now.  if you're not big on weights, you could at least use the weighted hand gloves that (i think) come with the package you bought.  maybe you'd want to learn the workout routine first and then incorporate the weighted gloves.

okay just an idea.  i hope others will chime in too.

indeed i ordered the weighted glove package, so unless there is a screw up on there end, that's what's supposed to come.
thank you kindly for your reply by the way!

i'm so glad to hear that the turbo will be worth it!

i planned on intergrating the gloves after i learned the work out and was at least somewhat comfortable with it, so it's good to know that my plan is not a stupid one!

thanks again, and i too hope others chime in, i appreciate it so!

i have had TJ for a few months now and i really really enjoy it.  i used to love tae bo, but i can't standit now in comparison to TJ.  it's a bit dancey, a bit boxing/kick boxing, and a bit of martial arts.  i really do enjoy it and it helps me stay motivated.

as far as your problems with your belly, i'm not sure what to say.  i think any consistant workout routine coupled with a healthy diet of fresh or frozen veggies, fruits, lean protiens, complex carbs, moderate to very little simple carbs, should, usually do the trick.

as far as your muscle mass goes, the crucial element is weight training.  cardio gets rid of the covering on those muscles, which should get stronger.  the two together gives the toned and lean look we all want to achieve. as TrimB mentioned, it's a combo of the two that is most effective.  if you got the pack with Turbo Sculpt, try that out.  weight and resistance training don't have to be boring...  if you own or can get a set of hand weights (ranging from 3-10 lbs), you can find exercises all over the internet that you can use.  you just have to be consistant about it.

also, not eating enough can deplete your muscle mass dramatically.  from what i have learned, your body is going to go for muscle as nurishment, which translates to muscle mass lost.  make sure you are getting enough protien in your diet.  i think a bit over one grame per lb of body weight is typically recoended.  also, try eating many small meals throughout the day, then your body won't go for the good stuff when it gets hungry- you keep it constantly supplied.

muscle mass tends to grow slowly, expecially in women... i don't know how long you have been in this predicament, but keep in mind that building muscle takes time.  but, i am sure you know this already.

oh, were you over weight before?  what could be going on in your tummy is excess skin- the stuff gets stretched out if you gain and lose repeatedly or in large amounts...  could that be a cause?

one more suggestion, if you need to up your protien, after a weight routine, drink a protine shake, or better yet, buy powder and make your own!  then you can make sure there isn't a bunch of unneccessary sugars and what not in it.  i hope this helps and good luck!

oh, and if Nir sees this, he will be able to give you lots of good suggestions!

it's also good to know that the turbo jam with gloves is good weight/resistance training.

"also, not eating enough can deplete your muscle mass dramatically." yes, i know, but unfortunately i've been dealing with that affect often. :crying:

i've been in this perdicament 4 awhile, but i guess i do expect to grow muscle faster because i c such progress in others.

less, i was overweight and i've always been up and down, all around, i do have some lose skin, but some deffinate fat too.

thank you for your responce!

I'll add my small opinion on Turbo Jam.  I absolutely love it.  I must be one of the few that had no customer service problems.  I ordered it directly from Beachbody and had mine in less than a week.  I love the workouts and am addicted to the weight gloves.   A workout without the gloves now feels like nothing.  I adore the music.  That's my problem with most workout videos is the 'musak' they play.  The club type music in TJ really helps me crank up the intensity.  My fave is the Punch Kick and Jam video.  (I really want a list of songs used in that one but they aren't listed after the workout like the others-anyone??)  I would think TJ would help you get some tone.  The legs are used a lot and if you use the weighted gloves that works the arms and of course all the workouts are great for the abs.   And I do the special 20 minute ab video too.  Of course adding additional weight training is never a bad idea.  I also used to do TaeBo and haven't been able to go back to it.

Anyway-that's my experience with Turbo Jam.  I will definetely be ordering more of them.  Next on my list are the workouts with the ball.

wow, that could so have been written by me.  PK&J is my fav.  and yup, TJ, without a doubt, has THE best music.  lol- i used to do a lot of taebo, too... i tried to do it again recently, but i just didn't have the heart.  i took it out and put my TJ in.  i hate the music on tae bo (i can't remember which on i have...)

and yes, i use the hand weights for every TJ DVD.  i can't go without them now, it doesn't feel as intense.

planning on getting more soon, after the holidays.  not sure which ones are on my list, but i want another package.

oh, and i didn't have any problems, either.  i actually didn't order them for a long time because i had heard of people's problems, but mine was a breeze.

I too, have TJ and love it!   Haven't been able to do it for a while, because of a "tennis elbow" injury..........but it is great, and I can't wait to get back at it.

BTW, I ordered mine from Amazon.com (because I'd read of problems with Beachbody) and I had no problems.   Had it in no time!

I have a weigh in on Jan 2 and if I have hit my goal of 172 (that wil be a total of 30 lost so far) I've told myself I get to order the TJ ball videos.  I'd like to get a couple more cardio parties too.

Just this last week I've stopped doing the modified versions on the videos and I'm trying to go 100% even on the turbo sections.  The other day on PK&J my heart rate got to 184.  It's usually between 160-170.  Right now my prob is that I need better sports bras.  There's a bit too much jiggle going on upstairs when I go high impact.   I also desperately need new tennis shoes.  Anyone have any recommendations on sports bras or shoes???

Congrats Emily on your weight loss!:shooting_star:  Incidently, my favorite TJ dvd is Punch, Kick & Jam also.  I've also always ordered online directly from Beachbody and have never had any problems.  I think their communication stinks as I've never once gotten a 'confirmation email' on any of my orders - but everything has always arrived right on schedule.  And I've ordered every single TJ there is LOL!

The ball workouts are good.  The 'Total Body Blast' one is super, but for some reason I've never really liked the 'Kickin' Core' one...I think it tries to be similar to the cardio parties but fails by comparison, only because it's nowhere near as fun.  Let us know what you think when you get them!

As far as shoe recommendations go, I normally wear Nike Shox for cardio; maybe because the whole crew on TJ wears them has had some sort of impact on me LOL.  But they are very comfy and helps with the more jarring moves.

Continued success to all!

Hey Scoobees,  smart move looking at what shoes they are wearing in the TJ videos.  I may have to get some of those.

Today my sinus infection is back full force so no cardio for me.  I'll just do the ab jam.
