| Ok, so I know that Turbo Jam claims to burn more calories than a lot of other workouts, but exactly how many. Does anyone know of a calculator like the one on this site to calculate the calories burned in a Turbo Jam workout? Or somewhere that maybe has a breakdown of calories burned.

I did cardio party once wearing my pedometer-just out of curiosity. It registered over 6,000 steps in the 40 minute session. My pedometer measures vertical movement. Ususally with TJ each vertical movement involves moving not only one leg, but sometimes both, plus the arms. Many of the vertical movements are deep lunges involving multiple large muscle groups. It definitely burns more calories than walking 6,000 paces.
I don't kow how you would compare fitness programs except to measure when you reach your target heart rate and for how long. I just know I'm getting the best exercise of my life and I can definitely see muscle definition and fat loss. So they're doing something right!

I don't have TJ yet - but I did order it last night...and I plan on wearing my heart rate monitor just to see how many calories I really burn.
Skipper - that last statement you made means a lot - I really can't wait to try this!!!

Hiba,
If you find the data I sure hope you'll let me know the source.
I'm NOT referring to you, but generally people just complain about things but never help me improve my website. It's just a hobby... supposed to be fun! ;)

I just saw a little commercial for the Turbo Jam this am and it does look like an awsome workout. I'm thinking about getting it as a back-up cardio routine. I don't think it's really possible to estimate the calorie burn though cause there's really nothing to measure (i.e. distance, steps, strides, resistance, etc.) and would probably really vary according to how much (or little) individual intensity put into completing the routine.
Skipperdox: my only reservation is that one of the lunge movements looked like it involved a kinda twisting knee movement as well (I know you're a dentist not an orthopedic surgeon:)) but do you think that's a problem or no?

| You can do your own sort of version of this, Anna Rita or Mindy (2 of the girls who do the low intensity version) might do an easier version of that move. I know I just twist and don't twist my knee around like Chalene does so I don't hurt my knee...because for some reason my knee just won't move like that. I am not that coordinated and I would end up blowing my knee out if I tried to do it.:)

Ok, so I watched the Turbo Jam infomercial this weekend and it says the “average” person can burn up to 700 calories in one hour and it has even shown to burn up to 1029 in an hour. Now, I don’t know how they are measuring that…is it on a 210 pound guys frame? Is it just how intense you get with the jumps/lunges/punches? What constitutes “average” I am not sure….but I do know I get a great workout and FEEL like I am burning 700 calories……

Peter:
Hi! I was wondering since this site is somewhat sponsoring Turbo Jam (or I assume it does since there is the banner) is there anyway for you to use your connections to get Beach body to be able to provide the calorie burn on the Trubo Jam videos. I am just really interested because like on the Fat Blaster video due to the aerobic/anaerobic training (28 minutes) Chalene says you are burning a ton more calories then just standard aerobics...I just wondered if there was anyway to get that kind of info?

Suenos, in response to your question, Chalene gives a lot of instruction on how to avoid injuring your knees. She will give you tips in some of the more difficult exercises to decrease intensity or to protect your joints. There are several places where I don't go as deep into the lunges as the crew on the video. Also, as my strength and balance have improved and my weight has decreased, I find I can lunge much deeper without feeling it in my knees.

jodell24,
I'll write them now. If I don't post back, I didn't hear back.
Thanks,
Peter

| They say a standard class for women might run 400 +calories or so a program (hour), but no official studies have been done. However fat blaster is interval training which can increase caloric output to over 700 an hour, which is significant. It also matters your output, age, sex, height, weight, fitness level. They suggest using a hear rate monitor to gage your personal progress. I have one now and it seems to be pretty accurate. I burn between 180-220 on 20 min, otherwise I usually use it for running

I found this site:
changingshape.com/resources/calculators/caloriesburnedcalculator.asp
It has helped me in figuring out my calories burned.

Tamic,
That calculator, created by a friend of mine, has only a small subset of the data you will find on this website via the link above!
