Hello everyone!  I'm new to this site.  I am a 'review' junkie.  Whenever I order anything I have to find reviews to read.  I am not new to beachbody or turbo jam, however I have to admit I am not a consistent user of any one of their programs.  I have Power 90, Power 90X (haven't even attempted that one yet), Slim in 6 and the original turbo jam (abs, 20 min, C/P 1).  I do love the workouts but haven't used them consistently to see results.  I have just recently ordered the maximum turbo jam series with C/P 3.  My question is how do I incoporate the new ones into the original schedule that Chalene gives you?  I'm currently 5'-6" and am about 153lbs.  My goal is 135 but would be happy at 140 with definition or toned.  Do you guys feel that this goal is attainable using Turbo Jam?  You guys are very inspiring, if anything thanks for the inspriration!

Hi cpie, I am envious that you will have a great selection of turbo jam. I only have the original set but I am definitly seeing results. I am considerably bigger than you (190lbs) and yet I am already noticing definition. Today I managed to pull on some jeans I've never had on before. I have only been committed to doing turbojam everyday for just over a week but already i'm a lot firmer and people are commenting. One thing to remember is that while your goal is completely obtainable you will gain muscle when you start doing it so the scales don't go down as quickly as you'd want. The best measurement for success is how your clothes feel and what you look like..the pounds will follow.
I don't have 2 sets of TJ so its hard for me to comment but from my experience its most fun to mix up your workouts, the more you have the more interesting it will be.  The videos all have specific aims so you can choose what you feel like or follow a plan which should come with the dvds. Anyway, Good Luck and keep us posted on how you're doing

The absolute most important thing to remeber is that you will see results w/any of those programs, different people like them for different reasons, BUT you do need to be consistent. So just make a commitment to yourself and follow through. JUST KEEP PUSHING PLAY!

You can do it!

Thanks so much for all your responses!  I don't think I have all the ones listed in that list.  Although i would like to.  So I guess I'll see which ones I do have that I can substitute for.  My problem has always been that I do other activities so to commit to one program that you do 6 days a week is difficult.  I play hockey 2 days a week in the winter and 4 days a week in the summer (what can I say I'm Canadian!) and then run 3 days a week to keep up my endurance.  But I will do my best to at least try it for 4 weeks.  No pain no gain right?  I will keep you updated.

with thanks...:dog:

cpie - I think it's great that you do other things besides turbo jam.  It's beneficial to 'cross train' with other activities.  Even though I am a turbo jam addict, I don't do it every day.  I mix it up with other cardio activities (bike, elliptical) and weight training.  I think it's wise to not do the same thing every single day; your body gets used to things fast and therefore you won't get the same benefits after awhile.  It gets too easy.  I think it's best to keep your body guessing and do your other activities also.

I wish you the best!

Because I was motivated by the results I read about on this site, I have been periodically posting my results as well.  Hopefully my success will help to motivate others.  I began Turbo Jam on August 2nd, so the following are my results after 3 months of doing Turbo 6-7 days a week.  I have also modified my diet and am eating much healthier now...but I don't starve myself, and I allow myself treats once in awhile .  In 90 days I have lost the following:

Chest:  2.25"     Right Arm:  .75"     Left Arm:  .5"    Waist:  2"     Hips:  2.5"     Right Thigh:  2.25"     Left Thigh:  1.5"     Total Weight Loss:  20 lbs.  (started at 189, now 169)

Not sure why I'm losing different amounts on my thighs??  Maybe I didn't measure at the same place :)

Hope everyone else is doing well!  I'm doing the Advanced Rip you Up rotation for the next 4 weeks, which will hopefully bump up my results.  I'll post results again at the end of the next 30 days!

Enjoy your weekend, Jen

Hi Everyone, I am new to TJ as well. I received the DVD last week and my daughter and I were both really excited for it to get here. We did a trial run on Thursday and then this morning started our program towards better health and firmer bodies.

I am so glad to find this chat forum and read so many success stories. I am 5' 3" and weigh 162 lbs so I have about 30-37 lbs to lose before I will be at my ideal weight. It has been a long time putting it on and I know it will take a while to get it off, but I finally feel hopeful that I have found a program that I can stick to and that will give me results!

Iknow that each person is different and the amount of weight that comes off will be different for every one but I am very postive that this program will work for both my daughter and myself!

Thanks for the support!

Wow Jen!  You are really rockin'!  Those are awesome stats! Congratulations - you must be so thrilled with your results!:shooting_star:

I hope you enjoy the advanced rotation - I did it, too.  It seems like it's starting off slow - and then they go and throw in a 2 dvd workout every now and then LOL!

Continued successes to you!

Sandy

Hi and welcome gBop!  I found this forum to be really helpful and motivating, too.  I was very unsure whether to order Turbo Jam in the first place; but after reading all the success stories and positive reviews here - I just went and did it LOL.

I never found a program or any sort of exercise routine that I could actually get excited about, till now.  Sure, there are days here and there that I don't want to exercise - everyone has those - but once I get started and hear the music...the smile is on my face and I'm having a ball.  It's the fun factor in turbo jam makes you want to stick with it...and of course the wonderful results LOL!! :shooting_star:

Anyway, good luck to you and your daughter!!!

Just wanted to pop back in and mention the new Turbo Jam workouts have just been released!

Both workouts feature the 'turbo ball'...one is a 60 min total body blast, the other a 45 min hard core cardio and sculpting workout.

I just ordered - and am so excited!

Thanks Scoobees!! My daughter and I worked out Mon thru Thurs and really like the 20 minute turbo jam - really made me sweat and felt great. So far my energy level has really increased and I am feeling very positive about TJ. Just the fact that I got up early and actually DID the workout four days in a row, is amazing... now I just need to keep it up...

I am a new person to Turbo Jam too.  I just got it on Tuesday and I have WILLINGLY done a workout every day since.  I see all the positive feedback and I hope it is true for me too.  I am going more by clothes size than pounds.  Currently I am a size 10 and want to get down to a 6/8!!  Probably about 20 pounds!  In any case.....I'll be checking in for more encouragement.  So far I really like it and plan on ordering the news series of workouts in a few weeks.  I think this is something I can do every day and like it!  I did The Firm for the past 3 years and I did get great results, but the past year I plateaued and even gained a few pounds even with exercising regularly.  I am hopign Turbo Jam boosts my body and allows me to shrink down to the size I want....It is great to find a forum where we are all doing the same workout...

I just got an email from Beachbody offering the new Turbo Jam set.  It comes with 2 dvds and a large ball.  One of the dvds is  Total Body Blast (60 minutes) and the other is Kickin Core (45 minutes) for $39.90.  I personally feel a little let down.  I don't want Chalene to come up with a very different type of workout.  I want different renditions of the classic turbo jam.  Just like if I was going to a Turbo Kick class.  I'm going to expect the same style of workout in different variations if you know what i mean.  Just wanted to throw my two cents in and would like to know what others think.

I may not post much but I'm still and am always Turbo Jamming!!!

When I heard about the ball I wasn't thrilled about it either, but now that I've had a couple months toget used to it< I've opened my mind to it and am getting them too. I have read alot of wonderful things about stability balls and core development, especially for people who have a hard time on the floor or other injuries that prevent alot of floor work. When you consider the price of the ball, the price is pretty attractive too, we'll see :)

My thoughts on the whole new 'ball' workouts are that I am ready and willing to go anywhere Chalene wants to take me LOL!!  I was hoping for a little variety, more moves, etc because I do want the TJ workout to grow along with us.  As long as it's still Chalene and her wonderful goofy personality, funky music, and lots of sweat - count me in!!

I wish I would have waited a day before ordering, though.  I heard on the bb forum they were just released (the 9th) and I rushed over and ordered.  Of course, the next morning I got the 15% off email.  Oh well...

Scoobees be sure to let us know what you think when you try it.  I'm kinda on the fence.  I love Chalene and I know that she wouldn't put  her name on something that wasn't good if not great.  I'll probably get it eventually to add to my collection since I have everything else.  I just hope she comes out with some more versions of Cardio Party or like Puch Kick and Jam bc that is one of my absolute favorites.

I love Chalene's other sculpting videos. I would bet the ball ones aren't all "Ball". I love the lower body jam with the thigh toner band. I'm sure this one will be as effective.

It looks like she has some standing routines with the ball.

Core is always where I need the most work. Like Scoobess says, I'm willing to follow where Chalene takes me!:dog:

GOT THE NEW TJ DVDS TODAY!!!

First impressions:  I did the 60 min Total Body Blast this evening.  Boy, was it ever different!  Not that it's a bad thing - just really different.  If you're a TJ fan just looking for a variation of a Cardio Party, this is not it.

You use the ball for the entire 60 min; rotating short cardio bursts (enough to get the heart pumping a bit) with toning segments that give you a breather.  The fact that it was not a full blown cardio workout made it seem much shorter than it really was.  I did not sweat alot; not sure if my body just cooled down in each toning segment - or if I didn't get intense enough because I didn't know the moves yet.  I will say that my arms - especially my shoulders - are already sore.  Holding and swinging that ball around definitely placed a new stress on my muscles. Hopefully my abs will also be sore by tomorrow - LOTS of core work!

I watched Kickin' Core and plan on trying it tomorrow.  This one was EXACTLY what I was expecting.  Just like a Cardio Party with the great energy, music and familiar moves.  The only thing I'm sad about is that the cardio portion is only 30 min...followed by toning with the ball and stretching.  I just wished it was a bit longer.  A definite keeper, though!

Anyway, these are just my very first impressions...more when I try 'em a few times!!!

Wow!  I guess our Turbo Jam forum kinda died out huh?

I am liking the new ball workouts a bit more each time I try them.  They are just WAY different than I was counting on.  But there is certainly nothing wrong with variety!  Keeps the workouts fresh & interesting.

Anyway, I am still Turbo Jamming and mixing it up with other aerobic & weight training activities and still lovin' every minute of it!

I hope the rest of you Jammers are still having a ball!

Scoobees,

I had never heard of Turbo Jam when it became a popular forum topic. Everyone was saying to buy it, so I started selling it and it helped support my free website.

Now Beachbody is dropping its affiliate program December 15th, so I can't sell it anymore and the ads will go away.

One thing that's been great is that people searching the web for Turbo Jam found my website... and stayed around!

It's been nice,

Hello everyone,

It is nice to see so many familiar "faces"! I was active in this forum last summer.  I saw the TJ infomercial in July and then found this site.  I got the DVDs and started working out like never before in my life.  I was keeping up with this forum and it inspired me.  One post that really got me going was from a woman who was working out every day, twice a day!  That was just inconceivable to me.  But it opened my mind, and offered me a little healthy competition, and I got to the point of exercising 5-6 days a week.  I did TJ, old Firm tapes, weights, and some jump rope.

It really was a lifestyle I had never experienced.  I had very positive benefits, and even though I totally fell off the exercise wagon, I still enjoy some of them.  The benefits I have lost are-- being so proud to be someone that exercises a lot, and complete alleviation of that "cranky" feeling my body has from sitting at a desk all day and then lounging on the couch all evening.

Can I say this? HHHEEEELLLPPPP!!!  I know that no one can do it for me, but I sincerely want to go back to that great lifestyle.  I know it is possible.  I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what will get me back on track, and I decided that one thing is keeping up with the postings on this forum.

I know that what I am experiencing is not unique.  I was adopting new behavior, and even though it made me happier, I slipped slowly back to my familiar lifestyle.  I am over 40 and I don't want to stay here!  I want to be a fit and trim older person!

I will end the post here - but if this topic interests anyone, then I would like to outline the thoughts that made me turn away from such a good thing.  Before I go, I want to say that TJ was an important part of my starting a healthier lifestyle.  Chalene's positive spirit  was encouraging and she got me to do and enjoy cardio - definitely something I have always avoided.

Welcome back, Chererene!  It looks like you've already took the first step back to a healthier & happier lifestyle by coming back here.  I love this place.  I found it by accident - what a great accident!!! - and all these posts about Turbo Jam totally motivated me to try it.

I have never looked back - not once.  Just like you said, Chalene's positive energy was so encouraging and FUN to me - and got me enjoying working out for the first time in my life.  I bought every single dvd she has, including the new ball ones.  I LOVE them all.  I look forward to my workouts (ok...MOST of the time I do )...which is just so funny to me.  And just like you, I am over 40; 44 to be exact, and wish turbo jam was around a long time ago - maybe I would have started exercising when I was younger LOL.

I usually mix the turbo jam workouts up with other cardio and resistance training.  I really don't want to get tired of such a good thing...the other workouts are so boring that they make me appreciate turbo jam all the more.

Anytime you want to elaborate more on your thoughts about turning away from this lifestyle - I will be here to listen.  Hopefully you'll be able to find that spark that will make you want to get back on track.  Good luck!

Just wanted to check in with everyone.  I am currently doing a round of Power90 with my husband...so I'm taking a break from Turbo Jam for 90 days.  I miss it A LOT!  Although Power90 is great, nothing will ever compare to the fun and energy Chalene and the gang provide with the Turbo Jam workouts.  I'm 20-25 pounds from my goal weight which is really exciting.  I have lost 53 pounds so far...so I'm on the home stretch!  Best of luck to everyone...and keep working out hard through the holidays!

It's interesting that you mentioned Power90 - I would love to hear a bit about it if you get a chance someday.  I also like to mix-up my workouts and was looking for more options.  I was deciding between Power90 and Yoga Booty Ballet...and by chance I saw YBB on a trip to Sam's Club so I bought it on impulse.  I haven't tried it yet, but soon.

Isn't it funny how much ya miss turbo jam when you're doing something else?  It makes me appreciate it all the more!

Continued success - and happy Holidays!!

Thank you for your reply, Scoobies!  Reading forums has been my ticket back into exercising regularly.  I am also reading beachbody forums and using the search option to see if anyone has discussed a particular thing I am interested in - like heart rate monitors.  I have gleaned a lot of good information over the past few days and everyone's enthusiasm and determination is motivating.  I am back to having the mindframe, "Well, of course I exercise regularly.  It is fun, makes me feel better.... doesn't everybody do it?!"  What a switch in mindframe!

To follow through with what I said before, I will list some of the negative thoughts that stopped me from exercising:

--I have been eating junk food, so my blood sugar is low and I feel too tired
--I am upset about something and don't have the energy to put into it
--I am sick of the same workouts over and over
--The Firm workouts that I use for endurance training are just too corny
--It feels SO GOOD to lie here on the couch and watch movies after work
--I just don't feel like it, and nobody can make me
--last time I couldn't get through the whole workout and it made me feel bad about myself.  I don't want to feel THAT again
--My body isn't firm so I don't look pretty while exercising.
--It is too cold in the house to put on a T-shirt and shorts, and if I wear sweats, I will get hot in the middle of the workout and will have to stop to change clothes which will bring my heart rate down.....

You get the idea!  Another thing that helped me get started was allowing myself to just do ANYTHING - whatever I felt like and it didn't have to be an entire workout.  That got me up and moving and I didn't have to change clothes!  It felt good so I did it again the next day - this time I put on some Bluegrass and danced around the room.  That was fun and very aerobic.  So next I felt ready to do the 20 minute TJ workout. The next day I did 25 minutes of the Cardio Party.  And it has been smooth sailing since then.  Now I can't remember why I felt I didn't have enough time or energy!

I admire you, Scoobies, for sticking with your plan and continously losing weight over a period of several months.  You are doing great!!!!!

Yes I sure do.  I can relate very well to that list of yours.  The list is endless and is why I ended up at 211 pounds LOL.  There seemed to be sooo many excuses to not exercise.  I guess when I was in a food coma daily...how could I NOT come up with another excuse!

Every now and then I would like to use one of those excuses still.  But now I know how good it feels to JUST DO IT.  And I know now how good the results can be.  The benefits are awesome...I don't ever want to give all that up ever.

Thanks for the compliment!  You are obviously doing awesome, too!  Continued success to you!

Scoobies,
You are so close to the goal you set!  I see another pound lost between your last two posts.  You must feel really great about your success.
That is the first time I heard someone use the term "food coma" as you have - it communicates a lot in a few words.  I envision a woman eating unconciously while in a deep sleep and then BANG! She awakens and feels everything.  Now awake, she makes food choices conciously.
Changing my diet is still beyond me.  I'll stick with incorporating regular exercise for now, but soon I will have to tackle the diet thing.  I am convinced it is more important for lowering body fat than exercise, at least for me.  When you changed your eating habits did you feel different?  I am very attached to my favorite foods that are high in fat and sugar.  This is not a matter of lack of knowledge.  But whenever I see "cut out refined flour and sugar" and "eat less saturated fat", I cringe.   There is a definite emotional component to the attachment.  Did you have to battle this?

Everyone,
Yesterday I got through the entire Cardio Party workout!  Something I have added to my workouts is SMILING.  A friend gave me the book 'The Secret' for Christmas which is reminding me of the importance of thinking positively.  At one point it says if you are feeling bad, smile for one minute and you will feel better.  I have heard this concept many times before but didn't agree with 'fake it til you make it'.  Now I am more open to giving it a try, and SMILING makes the workout more fun and getting through the tough spots much easier.  (My tough spot in Cardio Party is when Chalene says to get in the horse stance and do the punches and blocks.)  When I read about smiling for one minute, I got on the internet and looked up Laughter Yoga.  It is newer than I expected so there is not a lot out there about it.  But youtube.com has some hilarious video clips!  When I saw all those people laughing (especially the clips in India) my attitude refreshed about faking it!
Something else I want to share with Turbo Jammers is that I bought some exercise mats - the kind that are in 2 feet squares that fit together like jigsaw pieces.  I was looking into the P90X program.  It is so diverse that it includes yoga and plyometrics which require mats.  I checked out the P90X forum on beachbody.com and some guys said they prefer the 'jigsaw' type mats as an alternative.  I found a good deal on Amazon.  Now I will never go back to exercising on carpet.  They are fabulous for TJ workouts!  They are over 1/2 inch thick, firm, and very versitale.  And I do believe it is better for the knees.  And it must be better for the carpet too!  It seems like something a hardcore weightlifter would get, but now that I have them, it just makes sense to do all exercising on them.  The expense is not too bad for even the highest quality.  You can get 4'x6' for $36.  And you can add on any time if you need to.  Those using them for P90X preffered 6'x8' (which costs $72).

Hi Ebony - I think I may have read something about the camp over at beachbody.com awhile ago.  Not exactly sure what it's all about.  If you have time, any info would be appreciated.

I just turned 24 and have moved from Germany to Cali. Last year I lost alot of weight by doing the Southbeach Diet and was down to a sizw 6 in Jan 2006. I gained it over time (size 10 now) especially since moving here and driving everywhere.

Anywho, I realized that it's not only weightloss it also is workout. I saw the TurboJam advertisement this morning, then did some research and found this page. Well my TurboJam package should be here in about a week and I am REALLY excited. I've never really been a sporty person BUT back in the days I really enjoyed the MTV-Workout videos... so I am sure TurboJam is what I've been looking for...

Summer is coming....

Hey i see no one has posted in a while but i was hoping that if anyone had gone to the camp turbo kick last year they could tell me about it? I am going this year (yay!) but i'm kind of worried i might not be experienced enough. all ive done are the turbo jam tapes. On the website it talks about turbo kick videos for  your form and a new PIYO prgram. I'm hoping it'll be mostly turbo jam style there though! So if anyone has more info could you spare a few moments? thanks so much!!!

Hi. I'm new to this site and to forums in general. I've just spent the past 3 hours reading all the posts about Turbo Jam and I was compelled to join the group. I purchased the beginner package today, but have not yet watched the videos. I purchased my package at Wal-Mart, so I didn't get the ab workout or the Cardio Party - guess I'll have to find another way to purchase those. I noticed that the posts kinda died off more recently. I hope that I'm not too late in joining this group. I feel like I know so many of you already, just by reading your amazing stories. I hope we can continue to share stories and I look forward to getting to know you all better.

Hello everyone.  I'm glad to find others who are fans of Turbo Jam.  My story . . . I started Turbo Jam (the original package plus the Lower Body Jam which includes the exercise bands) on May 1, 2006.  At that time I was 47 years old, hadn't worked out for over 7 years, had Asthma which daily impacted my life and was 205 pounds.

Since then I have lost 75 POUNDS and went from a size 22 to a size 8.  Not only that but I have such vitality and a spring in my step that I feel better than when I was in my 20's!!!  By the way, I have NEVER been able to fit into a size 8 even when I weighed less than I do now in my early 20's (I am sure this is due to my now being able to see my abdominal muscles for the first time in my life!).  So not bad for a 48 year old secretary who sits all day.  I feel better . . . my Asthma is so much better and I definitely look better.

One of the reasons I really wanted to exercise again (other than losing weight) was to help deal with the stress of my job and family and let me tell you that Turbo Jam has made a HUGE impact on my stress level.  My energy level is through the roof!  Health-wise I had a blood test done 30 pounds ago and even then my cholesterol had dropped from over 200 to 147 and my blood sugar had come down from being considered diabetic down to the low side of normal.  My doctor couldn't believe it and told me "whatever you are doing DON'T CHANGE IT!!!"

But this also impacted my family because you know that what you eat is so important to how you look and how you feel health-wise.  Because of the changes I have made my husband (who does most of the cooking) is very careful what he eats which is great for his high cholesterol and he is starting to exercise too.  NOTE:  I have cut out refined sugars:  white sugar, white flour, "bad" fats, etc. and I now eat lots of:oatmeal, whole grain bread, whole wheat pasta, fish, chicken, etc.)

For Mother's Day I am asking for Turbo Jam Maximum Results!  I can't think of a better gift to give myself.  Like Chalene says . . . make time for your exercise because you are worth it!!!!!

Congrats to you Cathy!!!:shooting_star:  What amazing results you've achieved!!!!  You must feel so awesome!

Our stories are quite similar.  I'm 44 yrs old, started dieting/exercising on 1/01/06, and am also in that wonderful SIZE 8 now!!!  I found Turbo Jam in June/July 2006 (can't remember at the moment) and was hooked from the very first time!  It's the most fantastic workout I have ever done...truly fun...uplifting...and you can't deny the wonderful results!

I loved it so much I rushed over and purchased every single TJ dvd package at beachbody.  You will LOVE the Maximum Results package - the best!!!  It includes Punch Kick & Jam (my favorite) and Cardio Party 3 which is also fantastic.  Do you have the weighted gloves?  They really help up the intensity...I use them with every workout.  Even the Live set is really good with Cardio Party Remix and Booty Sculpt & Abs.  Chalene's newest workouts that incorporate the body ball took me awhile to really get to like - but now I think they're great!!

Sorry to go on and on...but once I start talking about Turbo Jam - I can't stop!  Anyway, congrats on all your successes!!! And keep Jamming!!!
