| Hi, i have switched from pepsi to a natural soda that uses natural can sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. I feel as if though the the type of sugar and not just the 25cals less is what has been making the biggest difference in my weight loss. does anyone know if this is true???

| If there is only a 25 calorie difference between them then this 'natural cane sugar' alternative still has lots of calories (remember, a deficit of 3500 calories is required to lose 1lb) and I wouldn't be expecting to see any difference in weight. Are you sure you haven't made any other changes, cutting calories, adding activity etc.?

Maybe you're drinking less of it because it is more expensive? Or because it's possibly less addictive? I'm not sure but I imagine high fructose corn syrup has got to be more addictive than cane sugar.

| I doubt the cane sugar has been making much of an impact on your weight. However, it's probably been making an impact on how you feel-- real sugar is better for your body than high fructose corn syrup-- and a person that feels better is more likely to be active, eat healthier, etc. Last edited on 27 June 2009 06:31 pm by Jennifer21201

I know this thread is old but I wanted to give my input..
I switched from regular Pepsi to zevia as it is made with stevia and I drink way way less of it because I don't like it as much, its more expensive, and its just not the same!!
That being said.. I don't drink, smoke, gamble, have sex, use drugs.. Pepsi is my major vice and I drink a lot of it so nothing is going to be good in comparison.
I like zevia much better than diet Pepsi because there is no after taste. Check it out. Also, I've lost about 11 lbs in 6 months just getting off regular soda as a decision to cut out hfcs.

I have to add to this. That I don't think I could of lost any weight what so ever if I hadn't stop drinking regular soda. I couldn't drink the diet stuff for about a year after I quit the regular and wish now that I hadn't started that either.
I think there is something to be said for drinking your calories....just doesn't work out well. I feel the same way about the diet drinks that are suppose to replace regular meals.

You should cut out the pop and drink water or sugarless coolaid flavored with Splenda!
