Alright, I don't think it would be very healthy if I had one of those burgers instead of turkey or fish. If I did that my cholesterol would shoot right back up.
I am sure you meant well. And I did eat those kind of things when I was dieting and lost weight. But, of course that was before the cholesterol issues that I have at a normal weight.
Just had to point that out.
But, for the normal healthy person, I am sure they would work out fine.
I have to ask a personal question. Cause I know from reading your success story that you had allot of medical issues. Did those all go away with the weight? Just wondering cause mine kind of worked out the other way around. Although, when I was fat I never went to the doctor and had stuff checked.

Cport,
I don't suggest that one live on a diet of burgers...I too saw "SUPERSIZE ME".
What I am saying is that you can have the things you like in MODERATION! The best food regimine is one you can live with for life! There is NO food that is "prohibited" for me.
Yes ALL my health issues went away with my change to an active lifestyle with a nutritionally balanced diet. 30%fat (good fat) 30% protein, 40% carbs,100% RDA of all essential vitamins and minerals, 6-8 small meals a day, 60 minutes of exersize 5X per week,
Like you I also avoided the Dr when I was unhealthy, now I go every 3 months and get my bloodwork.

Even with my strict diet I still tend to have my cholesterol high. It's only when I am really strict and don't eat certain thing ever that I can get it down. It sucks, cause before I could eat an occasional hamburger and not gain weight. But, it doesn't work the same way with my cholesterol.
So anyway, I am glad to hear you are not the same way, and have manage to keep your health.
You know, I go in every three months also, for thyroid and cholesterol testing. It's not allot of fun, but we do what we have to...

Probably best for you to stay away from fast food burgers all together. People say in moderation but really people should totally avoid fast food chains all together when it comes to these kinds of meals. If you really want a burger every once in awhile, you could just make your own. Then you know exactly how it was prepared and what went in it and how lean it is. I know it's hard when you're rushing around and you don't have time, but I would opt for like a salad instead and then make your own burger later at home. George Foreman Grill! Plus, those fast food burgers tend to make me sick anyway.

| Thanks for the info in the post, however I wouldn't even touch another fastfood burger because I know the addiction of the taste I get. The cheapness of it. The speed it gets brought to me. If I have one fast food burger, then I feel like I crave it untill I have another...and the process continues. I stopped eating fast food, and I can honestly say I hate the way fast food taste now. I dont know if its the oils I dont like or what...but once you get off the stuff and you try it again, its just doesnt taste good anymore. Same with sodas. I used to love drinking pepsi/coke/sprite....I stopped drinking them....Now if I try to have one, they are disgusting and I'd like to keep it that way.

I agree, I use to eat fast food like every other night, especially Taco Bell. Then I stopped. Last time I went just to try something out (I think it was a soft taco), I was just so disgusted by the taste. It really did not taste like real food at all and it probably isn't. Same thing with soda too. I stopped drinking them and I can never go back now. It just tastes like I'm drinking syrup. Bleh....

I recently had a soda for the first time in many months, and I savored every drop of it. It really was the best thing I had tasted since I started my diet. I guess I'm just not fortunate enough to lose old addictions easily =(

I've been a bit uncharaceteristic lately and visited both McDonald's and White Castle and have to say I really enjoyed every bite.
What I find (for myself anyway) is when I really have a taste for something, a specific certain taste, to go with it and just try to manage the portion size...because I will eat 15 other 'healthy' things while trying to avoid that "one" thing and I still never get satisfied. Of course this is not something I can or would do everyday. But if next week I "had" to have a Dairy Queen hot fudge sundae - I'd run over and get one - a small of course (300 cals, no whipped cream or nuts). So I like your post Victor, I think you are right on target for someone like me.
Of course, if you read my journal, I exercise regularly and I find it takes care of the occasional 'caloric indiscretions'.
Obviously if you have other health issues or cholesterol, you probably have to be more particular about what foods you can indulge on.

Hurray for eating what you want in moderation!!
In case nobody noticed, this thread isn't called "How to make a healthy turkey burger at home" or "just eat a salad instead". It's called "Healthiest *fast food* burgers"!!
Hehe. Yay burgers! Thanks for this post Victor. I have been really craving a burger lately..now I know to pick a quarter pounder instead of a whopper.

Actually... no fast food burger is healthy for you.
Mcdonald's is the WORST.
God only knows what they put in there meat.
I also heard their onions is made from powder that you add water too...
But who knows whats hidden behind their kitchen door...

I'm so glad to see that at least DQ isn't the *worst* thing I could do to myself... it's my guilty pleasure. My dog loves it too, and it is by far her favorite fast food chain. I let her have half a burger a month, and lick the cup from my mini blizzard :) She's a teenager now (very old for a dog,) so I figure she's earned the right to break her diet now and again, lol.
If we add bacon though, what does that do for the calorie count?

Having burger diet is one of the bad diets as it makes you addict to its taste and you wont stop with these five types of burger surely it makes you to taste all big burgers which are loaded with fatty substances.

Come on guys, he's not saying that these burgers are healthy. They're just the better options out there and good to have in moderation. I'm not a huge fast food fan, but I usually go to places like McDonald's with friends as a social thing every now and again and this is helpful.
