Alligator
High in protein and packed with omega-3s, the "other other white meat" is a savory, heart-healthy alternative to steak, says Dwain Johnson, PhD, a professor of meat science at the University of Florida. The mild-flavored meat, which sits between chicken and rabbit on the taste spectrum, is still a rarity in most supermarkets, but it can be ordered online at fossilfarms.com. Serving tip: Tail meat is the most tender. Rub with blackening seasoning and then grill or pan sear.
Oh my goodness-- I don't know if I could get over the fact that it's alligator! Though, I must admit, I do recall my brother (brave soul) having tried it once and actually liking it!
