Like most people, I enjoy baked potatoes, and as long as you don't pile butter, salt, and cheese on them, they are pretty good for you. Unfortunately, baked potatoes aren't very tasty without being dressed in some way. Even when I used to eat steak regularly, I was still a little weight conscious and didn't want to put those things on my potato since I knew how fattening they were. At the time I would add a dash of salt and pour on a bunch of my favorite steak sauce, heinz 57. Now what I like to do is put in a couple of spoonfuls of Miracle Whip Light, but I eat that on so many things I'm getting a little tired of it. How does everyone else like to dress up a baked potato?

I hadn't had a baked potato in years before reading this thread, newly inspired i stuffed my lunch spud today with tuna & creamed corn..stay tuned for updates ;)
I had them last night too, when i was wrapping the potato up i also chucked in a whole garlic clove (not unwrapped or anything, just sitting alongside) & when they were done i just had it with light sour cream & sweet chilli. The garlic really penetrated the potato in a non offensive way.
I also think that stuffing them with vegetarian chilli might be fun as an easy dinner

I love baked potatoes!!!
Fortunately, my palate is not extremely delicate, so I can eat fat free sour cream, Promise Activ Light margarine, and part-skim cheddar cheese to make a snack I could totally over-consume without superb consideration of such.
I don't eat potatoes as part of my regular diet, though, particularly because I'm not too good at eating them in moderation. Pasta, potatoes, and pitas...3 foods that are the bane of my diet's existence. Hmm...maybe I should stay away from foods starting with P.
On a lighthearted note, my sister likes sweets, and I am a meat and potatoes kind of guy. When my mother was pregnant with my sister, she craved sweets, and when she was pregnant with me, she craved meat and potatoes. It's interesting how that works.

that is freaky about how mothers cravings effect what you like to eat...with me its baked cheesecake..all she wanted was baked cheesecake, ny style.
Thats all i ever crave too.
She craved oranges with my little sister & caviar with my little brother (as if having a baby wasn't expensive enough) my sister eats bags of oranges & my brother, while i dont think hes ever had caviar, just wont eat meat..he only likes seafood.

Haha, yeah, my mom craved beans and tortilla... and I loooove beans and tortillas!
I've been taught in multiple classes that the reason a mother craves certain things is because that really is what the baby needs. Whatever food she craves has some vitamin or mineral in it that the baby is really needing at that time.
It's the opposite for "morning" sickness. Women get sick while pregnant to get rid of toxins from something they ate. People used to think morning sickness was bad because they need those extra calories. But, although it is a huge inconvenience, our bodies really know what they're doing and it is a much needed thing.

I put a few different things on mine.
1.) A serving of margarine and old bay seasoning or some other yummy spices
2.) A serving of margarine and some "sketti" cheese
3.) A good fat free salad dressing like ranch, or blue cheese. (Bountifuls! Yum!)
My very weird daughter like peanut butter on hers.

| I don't eat baked potatoes too often anymore but when I do I just sprinkle on either Season-All seasoning salt or Sprinkle (it's a natural herb-type of, well, sprinkle!).

haha, I feel like a wierdo now. I can't stand having anything on my baked potatoe. Gets in the way of that yummy potatoe flavor lol. I usually just eat mine plain, skin and all. I guess its from growing up with my dad telling me the butter was bad for me but the skin could give me super-powers. (For real, when I was 8 he told me superman ate potatoe skins )

God, I love potatoes. I could probably eat anything with them.
I try not to have them that often now, cause like Nick, I can't control myself.
I have had, lawerys salt on them, light ranch dressing, bacon bits, low fat cheeder cheese, chili, even put veggies or soup on them.
Like I said, I think I could eat about anything on them. But, I can't do the sweet thing with my potatoes like Hellrazor. So, at least I save a few calories that way.
