I'm tired of eating a sandwich for lunch and was wondering what were some good alternatives. I'm still in High School, so I usually eat lunch there, and I'm a vegeterian.

I'm in high school too...
I always eat sandwhiches for lunch! Mmm, I don't think I'll ever get tired of them lol.

What about a bagel with healthy jam?

Or soup?

Or pita, cucumbers and carrots, and some hummus to dip them in?

My friends sometimes eat pasta for lunch.

I would think anything you have for dinner, could be leftovers for lunch? I'm about to make a three bean salad w/slivered almonds to have for my lunch for the next few days. Now that the weather's getting nicer, it's time for salads!

What's a vegetarian to you?

I ask because to me that always meant you didn't eat any meat. But people would say... "But they eat chicken and fish..."

Drove me nuts. Like that's not meat.

I was an ovo-lacto vegetarian, but I ate as little of the eggs and dairy as I could. Never considered being a vegan... no animal products at all.

(Right now I'm none of the above, but eat mostly all plant-based foods and always working toward less and less animal-based foods.)

I am lacto-vegeterian, and I'm considering going Vegan, but I can't let go of cheese:grin:.

Okay then, here's a few lunches I used to have!

  1. Carrot salad:  Grated carrots, raisins, and just enough mayo to make it moist. (I guess the eggs in the mayo would make you an ovo-lacto v.)
  2. Rye Krisp crackers and cheese. I like Laughing Cow Low Fat cheese wedges.
  3. Canned peaches (drained) served over cottage cheese.
  4. Bush's vegetarian beans with bread or crackers

How about a coleslaw w/carrots and raisins and apple...you could just use apple cider vinegar and some sugar/splenda as the dressing, rather than mayo.

I meant an alternative for the mayo, I don't like eating it.

You could use any kind of low fat salad dressing. I use to put thousand island dressing in my ham salad or tuna salad to give it a zip.
