Hey all -

I am looking into buying a decent food processor (maybe 50-80 bucks, less if possible). Do any of you have any suggestions? Which food processors do you have (or have had) and which work well?

This question is mostly for Peter. What do you use to grind your flaxseed? (I'm assuming you do this because of the eat to live diet) Can a food processor grind seeds?

No help here, sorry.

I buy my flaxseed already ground from a Wild Oats market. It's made by Bob's Red Mill.

A food processor is no use for grinding flax seeds. You need a coffee mill or spice grinder, which should be well within your budget. I grind mine in a Vita-Mix, which is really a superior machine, but it is definitely not in your budget!

I've heard wonderful things about the vitamix. I am contemplating getting one, though a little nearer to christmas. I think that perhaps my best plan of action is just to bring the flaxseed to my parents house and use their coffee grinder (I have a 1 lb bag of it), and look into purchasing a coffee grinder or food processor a little later (closer to when the academic year starts) because there's no point to buying these kitchen appliances when I'm moving to different housing in a month anyway.

Hey collegestudent....I saw Peter gets his flaxseed preground at Wild Oats and, as I'm in the Princeton area as well, there is a Wild Oats right on Nassau Street, near the intersection at Harrison.

Thought that could help you hold out 'til Christmas!  Rose

I know, I shop there all the time. Wild Oats is amazing. It is only a 12 minute walk from my dorm room. I went there yesterday in fact. I love that I can walk to get my groceries (whole foods is better, but I don't like wasting gas.. plus the walk to my car is just as far as the walk to Wild Oats). Wild Oats also gives a nice 10% discount to students :)
