This article was posted yesterday as one of Yahoo news' featured articles. Particularly interesting to me is the news that those yummy burgers we love so much at fast food restaurants are actually made of heads, hooves, and other bi-products traditionally reserved for dog and other pet food. How nice is that?
Yeah, I have always heard to beware of processed junk, but never read a full explanation as it's put so bluntly here.
This is totally gross!

I thought it was common knowledge these days that cheap meat products are just the worst possible off-cuts of meat around.
You can't beat a high quality burger. Forget bothering with the cheap ones, they're not worth the money saved.

What gets me about ground beef is how high calorie it is versus steak.
Bic mac 540 calories
8 oz sirloin steak 475 calories
(the numbers are even lower if it's grass-fed)
Gee, less calories, less chance of food poisoning - easy choice.
Plus there's also the truly disgusting fact that most grocery store hamburger could contain bits of cows from a lot of cattle from a lot of countries - EEEEEEEEEWWWWWW. But if you can get high quality ground sirloin/ buffalo, Louise is completely right. Another case of you get what you pay for.
