160 cal daily indulgence [to bring my daily total to 1400 cals]
The hoodia pills are sure to bring criticism but I'd like to clarify that they don't suppress my hunger at all. While I have been using them, I no longer binge late at night or even want to. Usually I have a teacup full of dry cheerios instead.
The 'indulgence' is usually a safety net for when my mom cooks me something extra like pollock or if my stepdad brings me a candy bar from the truck stop. I don't want to eat too little calories and I hope this is helping.

Is this a commercial brand (like Cadbury's Highlights, at 40 calories per serving), or do you make it with cocoa powder and artificial sweetner (I make it 'black' for around 10 calories).

| Swiss Miss makes it commercially and it costs twice as much as the generic form of it. Kroger has some labelled 'fat-free dutch hot cocoa with calcium.' For 25 calories, 30% calcium, and $1.50 for 8 servings, it was kind of hard to pass up.

About 'free foods': I don't count the calories in artificially-sweetened drinks (diet soda, sugar-free squash) even though clearly they have some calories; also I don't count any herbs/spices/seasonings.
About thinking of a 25-calorie drink as a 'free' drink: well I would not do it now, but I used to do something similar. About 1.5 years ago I was 'out there' at binge land and could not go back to sensible eating. To make calorie counting easier I decided that any vegetables I would eat, in any quantities, and any moderate-calorie dressings I chose to drench them in, were free foods. Conversely everything else had to be counted. This worked out: this policy saw me eating more vegetables.

Oh, I forgot about that.
Mostly I do it because water gets very monotonous very easily and it seems easier to drink a full glass when it's warm. My teeth are a little sensitive to icy water, too.

In fact hoodia pills are the only "diet pill" this website has ever recommended (see the Products link, above).
This is because they are not a "magic pill" that claims to cure your weight issues. They simply help many people feel less hungry.
