Has anyone tried the jay robb carb cycling plan? If so are the calories really limited to 1200 calories a day? And does it really work as fast as claimed in the Womans World magazine (81 lbs/3 months)? Who ever has tried or know someone who please respond before I take the plunge.

I've done Jay RObb's Carb Cycling, and Yes, it DOES work!!!

I don't know about 81 pounds in 3 months though.

I can say that I went from a size 12 to an 8, from 168 to 148 pounds in 5 months, and I was SUPER toned..... Mind you, I am 5'9, and when I was my thinnest, people couldn't believe how much I weighed because I looked so much thinner....

I always had problems loving weight, and I lost a few pounds within the first few weeks... I was also working out A LOT and was in the ebst shape of my life for the vacation I went on... after that, things got out of control and I dropped the ball for many reaosns.... about to go back on it....

If nothing else, Jay RObb's diet taught me a lot about the types of food I eat...

And you are not limited to 1200 calories a day, if i remember correctly....

You shoudl definately try it.

How does the diet work? I assume you eat a small amount of carbs some days and then more carbs other days, but what are the guide lines? You guys have me curious .

It's basically clean eating (whole grains, lean proteins, healthy fats, fruits and veggies, etc), but one day was low carb, the next day high carb.

On low carb days, you should limit your carb intake to be about 15% of the total calories for the day. High carb days, or "carb-loading" days, you would basically restrict your protein intake to be about 15% of your total calories. The idea is to deplete glycogen levels and bring you to the brink of ketosis, but not quite. You use up the glycogen on low carb days, and then refill it on high carb days, therefore forcing your body to use it as fuel and not to store it as body fat. One day a week, you get one meal where you can eat ANYTHING you want within a span of an hour. That is when you get to cheat.

The basis of this diet is real food though, as mentioned above. Fruits, veggies, lean protein, healthy fat, not processed foods. Jay Robb is a lisenced nutritionist, and also a huge advocate of organic eating. I also gained a new respect for food on it, and really came to consider it as "fuel". The only drawback was it became difficult to eat out, aside from salads and I basically bring my food and snacks everywhere because it can be a real challenge to eat well and clean if I am out.

Thanks Jessynergy,  I've been wondering about that diet for sometime.  I thought no one had tried it.  I've been looking all over for info and stumbled up on alot of carb cycling diets.  I've decided to try the 4 on and 1 off, wish me luck:grin:
