I was on this plan for a long time- and got off of it-mostly because of stress and moving- got back on it.
I am pleased with it..Anyone else have a comment about it? good or bad?
looking for a buddy to bounce off ideas, etc.

Hi Ainbuffalo
I used the Dr. Phil diet with some modifications as I am diabetic ...at first I lost 25 lbs and then kept if off for 2 years but now find some of my old habits coming back.
His first line is what sold me: You have a decision to make . You know it and so do I. I was scared at first, as had lost and gained so many times. But hey, I have that decision to make again and I am not gaining back those 25 lbs. So am on the road again with the Jan/Feb challenge. Want to loose 10 lbs. by the end of Feb and will do it. Yes I will. Started 2008 at 199 lbs and down to 197 already.
And you can do it too

Dr Phil once gave me great inspiration simply by telling an overweight person -- "It's time to step up to the plate and demand more of yourself."
I would say that to myself whenever I started making the old, whiney excuses.
I also like his idea of keeping your environment safe for dieting. (No junk food in the house.) I diet better when my house is clean and uncluttered, too, but that's another (Welsh) man's idea.
I never did try to use Dr Phil's whole plan, though. He is all about working through the seven keys to understanding yourself and your emotional reasons for eating. I think that's fine but, I believe it's perfectly possible to understand why you overeat and still overeat. For example, I eat because I'm lonely and there isn't a whole lot I can do to fix that situation.
Dr Phil also believes in spending lots of time cooking, while I find that keeping my meals simple, with a minimum amount of time in the kitchen, works best for me.
In my case it's a matter of making a fairly strict, simple plan and sticking to it.
I agree with Maggie that an a day is one of the best diet tips ever.Last edited on 15 January 2008 11:18 am by Sylphide
