Hi everyone. I found the Fat loss for idiots site while browsing the internet. I was going to order when I came across a new plan on the same site called "Advanced dieting secrets". Is there a big difference between the two? I ordered the latter and am on the 2ed day. It has a daily menu with many choices. Curious if anyone here has tried it. TIA

Well, I'm beginning my 4th day and lost 8lbs!! Sounds crazy. I started at 206 and now am at 198. Don't know if a lot was water but definitely lost some gut.
Since this diet was started by same people as fat loss for idiots, can anyone tell me if eggplant can be substituted for squash or zucchini on that diet? thanks
Will post again after 8th day.

Hi trying*hard

no, I only use exactly what it says. I wouldn't  add anything to the options. I don't eat meat or poultry but if I did, I would just broil it dry. Adding fat or anything else, would defeat the diet. I think one of the keys is not to cheat AT ALL.

Good luck

I just bought ADS and will start Monday.  I have a question about the water consumption.  Am I missing the part where it says we need to drink 80 oz. of water a day?  I see the list of allowable drinks, but I don't see where it says we have to drink so much of it.  Just wanting to double check.  Thanks.

doesn't say how much water to drink but the more water the better, I guess. I don't know about how specific the "fat loss for idiots" diet is because I haven't tried it but from comments I'v seen, it seems to be more specific and varied.
On this diet they use the term "bowl" of beans or whatever, but how much is in a bowl? I'd rather measure something out to be sure.
Anyway I'm on my 5th day and as I thought that 8lb. loss in 4 days was some water because today I started out at 201. It's still a good loss and yesterday was the "eat all you can on this list" day so we'll see.
I'll give an account after 8 days. Won't be till the 19th though. I'll be away till then.
Would be curious if anyone has been on the Fat loss for idiot diet and this one, and what the difference is. bye for now

I'm sure that the more water the better.  But 80 oz. a day is sometimes hard to get in everyday.  That was one of the rules with WLFI.  However, I will try my best to drink close to that everyday.   As far as the "bowl" goes...who knows.  I have some rather large bowls in my house.  LOL.  On WLFI, it tells you what foods to eat on which day, but it never gives an amount of food.  One of the big rules on that diet is to eat until you are satisfied, but never until you are full.  So, sometimes it was hard to know that fine line between satisfied and full.  Then, someone once gave me a great tip.  If you pay attention to your eating, you will take a deep breath and exhale when you are "satisfied".  When I catch myself doing that...it's fork down!  This rule hasn't failed me, so it is what I will be using with ADS, too.  I would really like to start today, but will be traveling all weekend with the upcoming holiday and want to be realistic about the eating.  And, I don't want any distractions for the 8 days.  So....3 more days until we see if this diet really works.

It has been a while since I completed an 11 day cycle.  But, when I did, I lost about 7 lbs.  I would then gain 3 on the 3 "days off" and would then start over.  I have tried to get back into it, but the foods you are given get old quickly.  And, I've been on the road a lot in the last month, so it's been hard to stick to.  I was actually going to get back on it Monday, but when I saw ADS, I thought I would give it a shot to see if it is any better for me.  WLFI does work.  No doubt.  But, I thought I would just try something a bit different.  I'm looking foward to this.

So, how did your scales treat you this morning?

Hi Bob,

I just started this 8-day diet from today. Your weightloss has inspired me, and I just hope I stick to this plan, (provided I do not fall for cravings ;))

Do you know if we can use ketchup in our dietplan?

I can see where my reported rapid weight loss might inspire some but as I stated it must have been some water loss because I gained a pound back midweek but anyway this is day 7 and I'm at 200lbs even so it's 6lb loss in 6 days(weighed myself morning of 7th day). Tomorrow's Easter so I can't promise to not cheat. So even if I stop now I can always start again.
Now to be perfectly honest, there is not a lot of food to eat on this diet like what I hear about the FLFI diet where you eat until satisfied. So be prepared to not be satisfied. Happy Easter and passover everyone.

Today is my day 1 on ADS.  And, I will say that after my breakfast, I am very satisfied.  I probably would have quit eating sooner with WLFI.  But, since today is a high calorie day, I eating all that I'm supposed to so I will get the effects when switching to a low calorie day.

About maintaining.....the diet gives you a list of foods to not eat to maintain.  You can go straight into a new 8 day cycle as soon as you finish your first if you want.  Or you can have 2 days off and start again.  It is up to you as to how much you want to lose.

:chicken:Hi, I'm on day 6, 2nd cycle of fl4I. I have lost 10 lbs. so far. I'm curious about the ADS. Is it similar? Is it more diciplined? Is it worth purchasing, or is it almost the same as FL4I? Because I'm just in my 2nd cycle, I'm not sure if I should be rushing off to try something new. Do people think this program is really fantastic ?, doable?

I need some good advice. Thanks in advance.

First of all, congratulations on your weight loss!  Sounds like you are doing great.  As far as ADS goes, I dont' know if anyone of us really know if it's worth it or not just yet.  I'm only beginning day 2.  Some of the foods you eat are similar, but their are major differences.  Normally, you get 3 meals and a snack.  Sometimes no snack.  And, you eat more than one food at a time.  So, you can eat chicken and green beans, not just chicken.  Also, one of the big differences for me is that you get lots of fruit if you want, and I like that.  I missed my fruit on wl4i.  Other thing I like is that you are given a list of foods to choose from with each meal.  With wlfi, you choose your foods up front.  But, by day 8, I may be tired of eggs.  So on this diet, I dont have to choose until it's time to eat.  So, there is a bit more flexibility there.  But, many foods are portioned out, which is unlike wl4i.

You seem to be having great success, so if you are enjoying it, I would stick with what works.  We will have more info for you once we have completed a cycle or 2.

Thanks for the info. I also miss my fruit and veggies, I'm trying to create menus that incoporate more. I hate to portion things, so that might not work with me. Anytime I have to measure etc...It just seems to get me down. I will stay tuned to watch your success and read your thoughts on ADS. Take care.

Hi everyone,
I tried out ADS so I thought I'd share my experience. I'm a vegetarian so there was a fair amount of repetition on some meals, when the only food options are eggs, peanut butter, or nuts. I only stuck with it for 7 days instead of 8, because I was having horrible headaches. However during that time I lost a little over 8lbs, which is a big deal for me because I had been stuck at a plateau for almost 6 months. I lost about 50 lbs through various methods over a year or so then just got stuck. And, the weight lost on this stayed off when I went back to normal (sensible) eating for a few days. I've since gained back some, since a vacation, birthday and Easter fell within the same week. Times when I've just lost water weight on crash diets, most of it comes back immediately after eating normally again, so I felt there was some validity to this.

Right before beginning this diet, I had been eating a lot of sugar so I think that the drop in insulin that this diet created was contributing to the headaches. The same thing happened to me when I have done low carb diets, but it usually only lasts a few days whereas this one came and went, and was at its strongest on day 7. As for fruits and vegetables, it is nice to have plenty of those, but it can be a bit much. Like one day, you are eating nothing but 10 pieces of fruit. Right now I am back on WLFI and the menu I have is quite fruity, (many fruit salads and regular salads) so its pretty nice. I've definitely had times I've done WLFI where there was not nearly enough fruit or vegetables and I did miss them.

I do think it works well, and it is nice that you don't really crave other foods while you do it. You get plenty of carbs so you won't be dreaming about donuts or chocolate (I've actually dreamed I ruined my diet with a trip to the donut shop in the past). But you do need to be disciplined to not cheat at all because its not just a matter of fats/carbs/proteins, its all low GI stuff too so you can't really substitute foods. Its also nice you don't need to exercise. I don't know if it works a second time around though. I'd only warn about the headaches, those were really really bad. They are the reason I haven't tried again yet. I'm considering it again after I finish another round or two of WLFI, because that keeps the GI fairly low too so hopefully the change won't be too drastic. Though I know I'm likely to eat candy on my days off... Anyway I'd like to hear others who have tried it, I hope its working well for everyone.

I think the FLFI diet was actually too much food for me. I have never been an over-eater, my problem has always been fried foods and snack foods. I often found myself having to eat when I wasn't hungry on FLFI. I followed FLFI to the letter including the water & exercise and in 2 cycles (1 month) only lost one pound. The difference between the 2 diets is that FLFI plans out your 11 days up front  based on the choices you make - then, there you are - your 11 day plan and you must stick to that.

I began the ADS diet yesterday and I love the flexibility. I like being able to make my choices right before a meal based on what sounds good right then. I also like getting a lot more fruit than FLFI gave me.

I seem to always here you should drink 6 to 8 12-ounce glasses of water a day. You can drink more if you are exercising but don't drink more then a gallon unless you are replenishing your electrolytes as well.  Talk to your physician as to the amount you should drink, I believe they can run some simple tests to see if you should cut back.

Personally I have a hard time drinking the required amount so I have nothing to worry about at this stage.

Hi Jayelle ~

Here's what they say in the documentation:

You can use this 8 Day Diet as many times as you want to, and you'll keep losing weight after each 8 Day Cycle.

If you want to take a break before continuing the diet another time, then take 1 or 2 days off and eat normally.   Then, after 1 or 2 days go ahead and begin this 8 Day Diet again, and watch the pounds melt off.

I am on day 4 today and 3 pounds down. It has been particularly hard for me to drop any weight because of menopause and HRT - I need to lose about 30. Looks like this one just might do it! On FLFI I found myself having to eat when I wasn't hungry. With ADS, I find myself a little hungry and looking forward to my next meal instead of dreading it. This diet is strict, yet flexible. They recommend you "get a pencil & paper" and plan out your week, but I like being able to chose right before a meal, so as long as you have the listed items stocked, you can just do it meal by meal. They have no water quotas but I am trying to get my 10 glasses a day. If you like fruit, this will give you plenty, but you get a lot of choices for deli meats, salads and nuts too.

Hello, all.  I've been MIA for a while.  Sorry.  Traveling for work is not good when trying to do this diet.  So, I quit in the middle of my first cycle.  But, I lost 2 lbs that stayed off when I got off the diet.  I just got back on Monday, so today is the beginning of day 4 for me and I've lost 5 lbs as of this morning.  And, I am PMS'ing this week, and all of you ladies know that it can usually effect your weight loss.  But, it hasn't at all.  Yesterday was a hard day as I didn't feel so great and all I could eat for my meals was fruit.  I was hungry, but I did survive.  I will say that I do feel so much better in the moringing and not dragging nearly as much as before.  I couldn't be happier with the results and look forward to getting up to see that my pants fit better each and every day.  Yea!  Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi Arkie ~

Glad to see you're back - I was starting to wonder if anyone was sticking to this diet!! I just started last week and lost 5 pounds in the first 6 days.  Went off the diet after the 6th day but I'm going to start back up from day 1 on Saturday. Sounds like you're doing great on this diet - keep up the good work!! Please keep posting your progress, it's a great motivator.

Hey fwalter.  Oh, I'm around.  Sorry about being MIA.   I just finished Day 4 which is the unlimited calorie day.  Of course, you can only eat the foods on the list, which don't fill you up very fast, but today was a breeze for me.  I liked being able to eat whenever I wanted (every 2 hours at least, of course) and whatever from the list.  Yummy.  Not hungry at all today and feeling good.  I almost feel as if I cheated.  LOL.  Congrats on the 5 lbs!  I'm sure you will do great on your next round.  I must say, you are brave to be starting a diet on the weekend!  So strong.

Hi Arkie ~ Well, I started out with good intentions yesterday! Had my breakfast about 11am, but couldn't get to lunch until after 5 pm, then around 7:30 or so I was just freezing, couldn't get warm even standing in front of the fire, so I had a bowl of clam chowder to warm me up - which worked by the way ... so I called that dinner. Around 9, I had 2 oz. mixed nuts for my snack. I weighed this morning and was up 3 pounds!! I've seen myself pack on, or take off as much as 4 pounds overnight - I think it's just Mother Nature's cruel joke on women!! I didn't get much water yesterday and when I don't, I always wake up bloated - tight rings should trigger a little voice inside my head that says "Never weigh when you have sausage fingers!" So now, I don't know which weight to consider more accurate. I decided to start the diet again today from day 1 and I think I'll take tomorrow's weight (no matter what it is) as my starting weight. If I did the math right, looks like Monday will be day 8 for you, please let me know how this cycle went for you.

Don't waste your money on ADS. Stick with FL4I.  I'm on day 3 of ADS and I'm starving. I did so much better with fl4i, lost 20lbs last year, but then went off for a while and gained 10 back. Thought I'd try ADS because it's the same people who wrote fl4i. It is flexible as far as choosing your meals, but it is very limited as to how much you can eat. Everyone I spoke to or turned on to idiots, did great. I don't know why I messed with a good thing. How did everyone else do with ADS?

Hi everyone. I just purchased this diet plan on Friday and started it on Saturday morning. Checked the scales this morning (Sunday) and was down 2 lbs. I think I can stick to this! I have a lot of weight to lose (more than 100 lbs) and need something to give me a quick weight loss so I can get motivated to stay with a plan. No matter what plan I have used in the past, I can't seem to get past a week before I'm quitting. I'm hoping it won't be happening with this one. I know it says that exercise is not necessary but I will be doing a lot of walking now that the weather is nice here in eastern Canada. Good luck everyone! I will post my weight loss for the 8 days when they are up. Hope everyone who sticks to this will have a great story to tell.

Hiya Kid ~

Nice to see someone else in here - seems like everyone disappears! I think this is an excellent diet. It's tough, but the food makes sense and seems to be balanced. It sure works for me. I went off the diet when family came to visit and now I need to get back on. The good news is I only gained 3 pounds the whole 2 weeks I've been off. My plan is to start again on Saturday so that I can have the more liberal days over the weekend.

Please post your progress, it's great motivation! I'll let you know when I start and keep you posted with my loss too. Good luck. I think you will be pleased with your results.

Hi fwalter! Got on the scales this morning and was down 4 lbs. since Saturday. That's only 3 days so I am VERY pleased. Yesterday was murder! Nothing but fruit. I thought my stomach was gonna die but I made it through. Today is veggies and that will also be hard for me but I am motivated now so will stick with it. It's only for a day! Hope you can get back on track - will be very interested in hearing how you do. I'd like to have someone stick with it along with me just to see how we can do. I have a lot to lose and it will take some time, that's for sure. I'm not sure what to do after the end of the 8th day. I am missing my potatoes! I might take the 9th day and have a couple of things I want (no junk!) and then on the 10th day, get back on the plan with the menu for Day 1. Good luck!:)

hello everyone! i just purchased ADS and was soooo scared it was just some diet scam...so i googled it and found this page. HOW ENCOURAGING!!! I'm a little worried though. I am 20 years old. I have been struggling with my weight for as long as i can remember. The problem is...I am not really overweight. I have a lot of fat on my body and have far from the beach body I have been dreaming of for so long. I am 5'7 and i weight about 155. I can obviously stand to lose about 5 pounds....but I WANT to lose 15-20. I am at a healthy weight but I am just not happy. Has anyone tried this diet that isn't that much overweight? I want to know if it has the same results. I am a runner. I used to run 3 miles a day about 4-5 days a week. That was a long time ago. I stopped for a while and now I'll do about 1 mile 3-4 times a week. I don't have a lot of time so i probably won't do more than that. I life 3 pounds weight and do crunches just to tone...but none of that is really helping. i think my body is too used to it. I am still quite flabby!!! So if anyone has any suggestions please let me know! I want to lose at least 10 pounds by the fourth of july...which is why this diet seemed so ideal for me. I figured I could do it twice then maintain and be about 140-145 by the fourth. any comments?

Hi Kid and welcome chicagogirl!!

Congrats to you Kid on your progress, days 3 & 4 are the toughest but you can do it. For me day 5 weigh in was sooooo encouraging to see the weight drop. I'm gearing up to start again tomorrow, so I'll keep you posted and you do the same. It's nice to have someone to share our stories with. As with any diet, water is so very important, so keep your water intake high, at least 8-10 glasses a day, it also helps keep your stomach full so that you're not so hungry. I try to drink a couple of glasses before every meal.

Chicagogirl, your weight loss goal is certainly within reach with this diet. I hope you'll stick with it and keep us posted on your progress. I need to lose 10 pounds to be within "healthy" weight for my size, but my goal is 25-30. I'm only 5'2" and have a small frame. I think this diet is good for anyone no matter how much they want to lose.

Here's to us ... we can do this!!

YAYYY!!! A FRIEND! I am so excited! Day one is almost over....it's 10 pm and I say ALMOST because all Iw ant to do right now is go nuts with the pizza in the fridge! i'm holding back though. I do NOT feel encouraged today! I feel full and bigger and gross! I don't usually eat so much. I usually won't eat all day then have like...fast food for dinner. Not healthy I know...but anyway...I'm not used to all this food. And PMS is a bitch and I feel lightheaded and dizzy and like I want a kit kat! grrr....I have so much will power and I thought this was going to be so easy! Day one sucks! grrr...I will stick with it though hopefully tomorrow will be better. i'll be on in the morning with a weigh in. I don't know if you read my other post or not....I started this morning at 156.4. Right now i'm like high 157 so that sucks. Most people do weigh more at night...but I was never one of them. I usually way the same all day....weird huh? so yeah that doesn't make me feel good. I didn't really drink water today....will that affect my diet? I hope not...I hate water. All I really had to drink was half a cup of coffee and a couple sips of a diet coke and half a bottle of water. Please keep me posted on your success and let me know how this diet has worked fo ryou in the past. how much weight did you lose in the 8 days? I am starting to get worried now that it's right down to it. KEEP ME INFORMED...I'll do that same! Good to have a buddy...:)

Hang in there c-girl - you CAN do this. Maybe you could try spacing your meals differently. Perhaps having your breakfast and then waiting for lunch until later in the afternoon so that your lunch, dinner & snack (if it's a snack day) are later and closer together. The water is so important. I know it's hard to get used to at first, but at least for me, I found the more water I drink, the more I want. It really does help flush out the fat and also keeps your hunger at bay. I find now that if I don't drink enough water, I wake up bloated. Water really is the miracle ingredient in any diet and so important even when not dieting. A little water trick I use is to have bottled water and just keep it going all day - I can do it that way but I won't go pour a glass of water. Plus the little bottles of water are so handy - you can take them with you. This diet is strict and be prepared for days 3 & 4 to be murder - but when you step on the scale day 5 you'll be pleased. I wrote yesterday that I was starting today but had my days screwed up, don't know why I thought yesterday was Friday!!!! So I'm hoping to get 2 (or maybe even 3) phases in before I leave for my weekend o'fun, June 30.

Hi Kid ~ Great you made it through the fruit day -- How did your veggie day go???? These are definitely the 2 hardest days but the scale pays off on day 5. Let us know how you're doing. I start again tomorrow. I haven't weighed for the past few days and I'm a little worried - we had a little get-together the other night complete with lots of high calorie german beer and higher calorie crackers, spread, chips and dips. Arrrrrrgh.

Really feel like trying this out...is the food difficult to obtain or prepare? Just tying to get some ideas before I make the decision to buy....

Hi vivi ~ Give it a shot! There is a LOT of fruit on this diet, so if you like fruit, you're good. I too am not a big meat-eater, this diet gives you lists of foods for each meal, typically 2 lists per meal and you choose 1 item from each list. For instance list 1 may contain meat, chicken, fish, eggs & nuts - you would chose one of those and the second list would be fruit & veggies and you would choose one of those. I have at times substituted fish for meat when there was not a fish choice and it does not seem to affect the progress. If you decide to do this, please let us know how it's going for you.

Hi all. I was kind of disappointed in my 5.8 total weight loss for the 8 days but I guess it's my own fault.:nono:  The fruit and vegetable days were horrible for me! I have to go over the diet plan again this evening. I need to get more variety so am going to really look the menus over and make some changes. This is my 9th day and I took a day off but will start again in the morning. I was eating so much fruit that it was just killing me! I started substituting stuff that I shouldn't have and in fact, should be VERY thankful for what I did lose.  Also, at the end I wasn't drinking as much water as I should have. I did drink a lot the first few days but got away from it. I really have to make myself drink water. It was hard to get off the bottles of soda I was used to drinking and I found myself craving that. Oh well, tomorrow is another day! Hope everyone else is doing well. I will post again when my 8 days are up and hopefully will have good news then. :D

Hi Kid ~ CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! That's almost 6 pounds in just 8 days!!! That's really good - it would be nearly 25 pounds in a month. You've done very well - keep it up. I think it's fine to make minor changes in the menu as long as you feel good and continue to drop weight. I finally got started again and I'm on day 2 today - I'll keep you posted. Keep up the water - it's so important.

Hello?  Knock knock.  Anyone home?    I've been away for a while now...and see that everyone else has been away, too.  I had started this diet a while back, but then tried to get pg, got pg rather quickly, had a miscarriage (no tears), and now hopping back on to lose some much not needed weight before trying to get pg again later.  Where did everyone go?

Well, if there is anyone out there...i'm on day 1.  Here we go!!

Hi Arkie ~

Glad to see you're back!!! I too wondered what happened to everyone. Maybe because of summer it's hard to stick with it - all the vacationing, BBQs, etc. I have been planning to get back on track - company coming this weekend but after that, it's time to get serious once again. I lost nearly 15 pounds on about two and a half go 'rounds with this diet, but having been off (way off) for quite awhile, I've put about 7 back on --- aaaarrrrggghh. Please keep me posted on your progress and look for me to get going again next week. I find it really does help to have this forum for inspiration. Good luck to you! I'll be checking in ...

Holy #%@&!!  15 lbs in 2.5 cycles!!!!  That's amazing.  Way to go.  See...that just motivates me further.  OK, so check this out....I swear I'm not making this up.  I complete day one, get on the scale this morning, and I swear I'm down 2.5-3 lbs!  Is it water weight....of course...but who cares!  It has to come off, too, right?  I ate just what I was supposed to, but never got around to the fruit snack.  Not drinking a ton or water or anything, just normal amounts.  Hee hee.  I may not lose any more until the end of the week, but that's ok.  My only problem is a dinner I have to go to Friday night.  May have to cheat for that meal, just not over do it, and get right back on the next morning.  It will be ok.  But, your post really gets me excited.  That is amazing.  15 lbs in 20 days!  So proud of you.

I'll be waiting for you on Monday.  That will be my day 8.

Ha ha!  Day 2 is over and I'm down another pound.   That is nearly 4 lbs in 2 days!  So great.  Nervous about having a dinner to attend Friday night and hosting a party Saturday.  Not good....but i'm on the right track for now.  And regardless, I will be doing another cycle of this as soon as this one is over.

Congrats on the 4 pounds!!! I think as long as you watch it on Friday & Saturday you'll be OK, maybe some extra water. Seems that this diet helps your metabolism so when you do cheat, it's not so bad. I am so ready to get back on track and look forward to sharing our progress. Company arrives late Thusday night so I'll check in next week. I plan to start up again Monday or Tuesday. See ya then ....

OK - summer is over - time to get down to business! I had lost 15 lbs. but having been off the diet since July I have put all but 3 back on. BBQs & ice cream are my summer downfalls. This weekend we are going on our last mini-vacation for the year, we return on Monday so I plan to get back on track Tuesday. I was really hoping there had been some activity in this forum since I left, but alas, I was the last poster back in July. So ... if anyone is out there, PLEASE start posting - it helps so much to have a support system.

Hello Everyone,

I have a question...it seems as though you all are talking about an 8-day plan, but I have just purchased the plan and it says 10lbs in 10 days.  Did they just change this?  At anyrate, this is my second day on the plan and I think I am doing ok.  I need to start working out.  By beginning weight was 260 as of yesterday morning.  I am trying to stay off the scale until it's over, but we will see how strong I am...lol.  Day 10 will be Thursday, so hopefully I can hold off getting on the scale until Friday morning.  I notice that no one has been posting things recently.  Please start posting again...It would be nice to have people to talk to about this.
