I don't like that he promotes losing weight fast with minimal exercise. It will work but it doesn't really teach you how to make permanent healthy choices. Not doing so is a recipe for failure.
The info he gives is pretty standard stuff that's available for free on the internet. Eat 5-6 times a day, walk, drink lots of water.
My advice? Save the money and use this site to educate yourself about changing to a healthy lifestyle. Everything you need to know is here..for free...really.

| I know I'm a little late but avoid this one like the plague. The whole premise is avoiding salt. No salt at all. Now I'm a good cook. I used to be a chef in a very nice restaurant but I couldn't make the food taste good. I obsessed about eating all the time. And don't even think about trying to return it, I'm not sure that it's humanly possible. I've tried a lot of diets but I would gladly go back to eating nothing but protein before I would even think about going back to this one. The worst of them yet.

This diet really does work but you cannot cheat at all and have to drink 100 oz of water. I lost 5lbs in 3 days. This is not a diet but a different way of eating and it can get very hard when your food isn't very good tasting because of the no salt limitations. You can't have any eggs but the whites, breads, pastas, dairy, sugar or salt, now watermelon and no oils or nuts. My menu on this for the day was:
smoothie for breakfast - made with diet rite soda, two egg whites, two ice cubes, splenda and choice of fruit.
banana pancake (made with banana and egg whites and some splenda) mid breakfast
lunch - chicken with vegetables and a carb, plain white rice or baked potato.
mid lunch- chicken with vegetables nor carbs. (You can switch with turkey)
Dinner - Turkey or chicken with veggies and a carb, the rice or potato.
Snack - 1 cup of fruit or 1/2 grapefruit.
You can use Mrs. Dash seasonings but never salt, oils to fry or cook with, sugar or sugarless candies and no juices or carbs other than rice, potatos and a few others. Vegetables are specific and never any corn.

| This is the absolute worse diet out there! PLEASE do not purchase it. I made the mistake of getting it and was beyond dissapointed. They promise if you are not satisfied after 30 days, you can return it and get your money back. YEAH RIGHT!!! I had such a battle with that #%@&! company and never got 1 penny back! I sent it back exactly as the instructions stated. Aside from that, the diet is horrible and dangerous. Like everyone is saying, you can have absolutly no salt. I started this diet in the summer, and by the 2nd day, I almost passed out. I did some research, and found out how important salt is. It is something our bodies definatly need. Besides the fact that you can't have any salt, you are drinking so much water, you are washing out every essential mineral that your body needs. It is extremely dangerous. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE THIS DIET!!!!

how you would maintain a diet like that is beyond me. Just what goes into that smoothie alone made me feel like being sick. I think if your going to diet, at least enjoy the food! Dieting tho, is not a long term thing. Lifestyle changes however are. Thats the difference between keeping the weight off.. and not. Seriously, if thats what you have to eat, and its strictly that and nothing else.. 1. boring!! 2. Lacks a lot of essential food stuffs.
I would be very sceptical about this diet .. to me, it looks like just another food fad way to make money and to make people more unhealthy.

| I stuck to it for the 6 weeks and lost 15 pounds. I also had dry cracking finger tips and my hair was very dry and breaking. I could never stick to this diet for life because of the food. Everyone tells you that you get used to the absent salt taste and that you won't miss it. Yeah Right! You will find in the forums for provida that everyone has re-started over and over again and it is because of what you said. You can't stick to something that isn't good because you will constantly cheat.

| I did the 6 day body makeover one month ago. Yes it worked ! i dropped enough weight in in 6 days to wear a pair of pants I had grown out of. Would I recommend this diet ? Only if there is something you REALLY want to wear so badly within one week that you will do practically anything !! Food is absolutely flavourless NO SALT at ALL and eating it 6 times a day is a killer ! What is good about this diet is that it cleans you out to start a reasonable sustainable plan and no matter what plan you start you will feel like to you are feasting like a king on most flavourul food in the world. It resets your tastebuds so you can still eat small and sensible but in relative terms it feel like you are on a wild pig out. I would use it for this reason and this reason alone.

I went on the 6 weeks Body Makeover diet and I lost 20lbs in 2 months but since I have been off of it eating bread and a little more salt I have put 6 lbs back on and I hate that. I am going to try to do the Weight Watcher plan. You can eat what you want for the amount of points per day. I did WW 10 years ago and lost 35 lbs. if I can do it then I can do it again.

I just knew this program would work for me. I watched the informercials and watched him and listened to the callers on HSN. I did the program exactly as laid out with the exception of the workouts. The toner band wouldn't work with my doors in my apartment. That didn't matter though because I was already working out. I did workouts from Fit Tv, Billy's Boot Camp, and The Firm. To me the program wanted me to lessen my workouts. That didn't make sense. For the first few days on the diet I had excruciating migraines. I felt nauseous and light headed. I felt like I was forcing myself to eat this horrible tasteless food. I was a B body type and I didn't get to eat any good food. I lost about 10 lbs in a month that haven't returned, but now I'm doing something different. I really thought this would work for me. It's just too strict. I can stick to a plan but this felt like food prison. To me if it says lose up to 30 lbs in 6 weeks and all I had lost in 4 weeks was 10 lbs; there was no way I was going to lose 20 lbs in 2 weeks. I'm happy for those of you that the program worked for you. But it's not for me.
I've lost my weight now and my weight before I got pregnant by using The Atkins plan. I don't do it exactly to a tee but I get real visible and long lasting results. Once you've reduced your carbohydrate intake and increased lean proteins you will learn how to eat your favorite foods in moderation, and continue to enjoy it. For example, if you stop eating fast foods for say a month, when you go get one of your old time favorites one of two things should happen 1)it's not going to taste good or you find you can't finish it, or 2)you allowed yourself to enjoy a favorite but it doesn't kill your diet. That's how you make it into a lifestyle.
Although long winded I hoped this info helped someone to learn about how this program is basically depressing. And how to me anyway, I don't want to be skinny so bad that I'll eat bad tasting food. You can't stick to something like that.

| You are so right, the tasteless food is not worth the loss. I also did Atkins and have lost another 20 pounds. I haven't been on it for the past month and haven't gained anything back. I still watch what I eat as far as carbs and how much portions I have. I am going to start the FIRM religiously and eat what I want in moderation. I think that this will really work for me considering I don't excersice at all.

The Atkins works so perfectly. Because then you can eat normal foods and not gain any weight back. I never gained an ounce after The Atkins until I got pregnant. It's great and The Firm is great too. It does lift your booty the only thing is that it gets pretty boring and it's hard to stick to the entire workout. I've been working out for a long time; i'd say i'm intermediate and I still can't complete the 2 longer workouts.

Thanks for telling me about Atkins and the firm. I really like what I can eat on Atkins and it taste good. I know what you mean about the firm workouts, they are pretty intense. I bet you have good results though.

| I did the 6WBM, first for 6 weeks - I lost 41 lbs. then I yo-yoed with it for a few years, never being able to stick to it, as like another member said, it was like a food prison. Eventually, I gained back more than half of what I had lost. It is VERY restricitive in what you can eat and when you can eat it and the lack of salt issue was bad for my muscle function - bodies NEED at least a little sodium to function correctly. So if you decide to go with this, be cautious, talk nice to yourself, and eat a little salt.

I also did the 6wbmo and its also being my worst experience thus far. I managed to lose 12lbs and gave up on losing weight ever, until i began lowcarbing recently. It just seemed impossible to stay on plan after the first 6 weeks, i got very discouraged afterwards.

I think these forums are a great resource and can assist individuals in making decisions. But these posts remind of me of nutrition statements on food labels, or the newpaper - if you don't know truth about what they are claiming you may unwittingly make poor decisions based on information presented. As is what I did after reading these posts last year - I didn't purchase the 6WMBO diet because it sounded awful and dangerous for my health. However after a friend purchased the program, I had an opportunity to learn more. I know these are personal opinions, but we value you opinions in helping us make decisions with the information you give us.
And I'm not posting to be an advocate for the 6WBMO by any means - but I do feel that several of the posts failed to mention the other side of the story.
Several of the posts mention how the 6WBMO doesn't allow "salt". Did you know that one of the recommended vegetables in the 6WBMO is Okra - and it one of the highest sodium containing foods - if we eat healthy it may not be "necessary" to "add salt". Here are some informational sites on salt and salt reduction.
selfgrowth.com/articles/Lucas2.html
kitchenmedicinebook.com/016804.html
unilever.com/ourvalues/nutritionhygienepersonalcare/nutrition/Nutritionalfun/salts/default.asp
I read other comments regarding the 100oz of water that is recommended - OK do the math that's 12.5 cups of water. The 6WBMO only recommends you drink 3.5 cups more than Institute of Medicine recommends for adult woman to drink daily as part of regular diet, and it's a 1/2 cup less than what is recommended for men. Just about every diet has a recommendation on the scale from 8 - 12 glasses a day.
Unfortunately the 6WBMO is a victim of its' own marketing scheme - Eat more and Excercise less - Truthfully the diet recommends one to follow a daily cardiovascular routine and only do toning excercises less often. In fact for some of the body types it even states that it's an essential part of the program for weight loss to excercise daily and for all body types essential for a healthy life style. The "eat more" - really means eat less - 6 times a day. The premise behind this is to sustain you insulin levels and keep your body satisified.
Obviously not every diet works for every person - but alot of the comments were posted in a manner that made one believe the diets critical components posed alarming health concerns without painting the whole picture.
Respectfully,

Hi Bretan
I've just bought the Michael thurmond book and it sounds really good, i have been on a similar diet b4 and lost about 7lbs which was awesome. The only trouble i have is eating fruit and salad and i can only eat a few veggies......so i was wondering how you make the banana pancakes as they do sound ok? how many banana's? how many egg whites??
Have you got any other recipes?
Thanks, Sarah

I did michael thurman's 6 week body makeover and in 6 weeks I lost 48lbs. It works and if it did not for anyone, then you did something wrong. He doesn't promote not exercising, he says to not worry about it in the first 6 weeks. He supplys exercise bands and tapes to help you get in shape and after the 6 weeks, I was cycling for 10+ miles a day and using the exercise bands. After 3 months I lost a total of 60 lbs, which is obscene . I found it a slight struggle the first week, but as the lbs dropped I got so motivated it became easy..
