Just recently I [finally] joined Curves.  (I've wanted to for a while, but had not been able to.)  While I looked forward to getting into the Phases, I found that isn't for me.

First, as one of those people who have problems eating more than 1-2 times a day, I have to begin with INCREASING my food intake to get my Metabolism up!  Arrgghhh!  Eating so often is REALLy a pain!  I really hate it!  And, on top of it, I just don't get hungry but a couple times a day, so this is really hard!

I've found Special K bars (very tasty), Rice Cakes (consumable), and those new 100 calorie Crisps Thins (actually really good, too...surprised me) are very helpful to get in a snack here and there.  But, I would really like some better balanced, nutritional food items.  I can think of some, but here's what I'd like--something that tastes ok, that is good for me PLUS decent in the calorie/fat realm, and that will help with boosting my Metabolism.  Any suggestions?

The info says the Boost My Metabolism task will take me 1-2 months, which I'm shooting for 1 month so I can get into the Phases...the info says that I'll know when it is going up because I'll start losing about 1 1/2 pounds a week eating whatever as I do now--though I am conscious of what I do eat!  I stay around 2,000/day.

Any suggestions you all may have are welcome.  Yah, I know a lot about the Metabolism and all, but new input is always welcome! :D

Also, what is this Weight Loss 4 Idiots stuff?  I'm guessing it was found on-line??

I suggest: 6 times a day (i.e. every 3 hours or so) eat a snack which is "lean protein" (high in protein, low in everything else) and provides you with 20-25g of protein for around 120-150 calories. Then perhaps some add a high fibre choice such as fruit or a vegetable serving too.

Protein examples: 3 oz (75g) of cooked chicken breast, a 4 oz (130g) tin of tuna, an 8 oz (200g) of low-fat cottage cheese, just the whites from 6-7 hard-boiled eggs, or perhaps a soy protein snack or (if you're not in the mood for food) a Whey Protein Shake.

The idea with that suggestion is that, to boost metabolism you'll be wanting to keep your protein intake high at 30% of calories, giving a total of 150g a day for 2000 calories, ideally spread evenly through the day, yet people new to the concept often struggle with incorporating protein into their diet - especially into their snacking.

Fat Loss 4 Idiots / Weight Loss 4 Idiots is a commercial diet plan which is only available to purchase online. The Diet Plans forum on this website has a thriving item you can read to learn about what it is like to follow it. The plan prescribes what to eat (e.g. "omlette", "chicken") for 4 meals per day. Each phase is 11 days long followed by 3 "cheat" days. It makes a claim about losing 9 pounds in the first 2-week cycle though people rarely match this (and then achieve less in subsequent cycles). Yet if you are a fan of being told what to eat, read further in http://www.caloriesperhour.com/forums/forum3/214.html . The 'diet plan' recommended by this website also facilitates fast (and safe) weight loss - it is called Eat To Live ( http://www.caloriesperhour.com/faqs_ETL.html ).
