Am I the only newbie who finds that you're getting hungry every couple hours on ETL? I'm going to assume that it's due to the fact veg & fruit are digested quicker than meat. I've been snacking on raw veggies off and on all day.

I've started today with the program by using a copy of the food pyramid even though my copy of the book has arrived yet. I've got baby weight to lose & no time to spare, as I'm going to a family wedding in late July.

It is true (and often a "selling point") that fruits and vegetables digest quickly. I think vegetables are more useful than fruit for their 'staying power'. Funny you should mention it, I was only revisiting the pyramid from the book yesterday:

With the best of intentions i cannot quite make 30% of my calories come from (non-starchy) vegetables. At my current intake of 1700 calories, 30% is 510 calories. If I was chewing raw broccoli all day that would be 1645 grams (3.6lb)...

Perhaps eating some nuts and seeds like almonds, cashews or sunflower seeds would help balance it out?

Excellent advice for patients to follow. By getting a second or even a third opinion and by asking lots of questions, you will educate yourself about your illness and know that you have chosen the best treatment course available
I also had the exact problem some days earlier I was so much disturbed what to do! But thanks to my doctor he gave me some medicine which helped me in recovering.
Very informative Forum!I am really grateful to you for providing me with such useful information.

this pyramid is a lot politicaly based buII#%@&!, provided by the WHO. In nowdays world just money is important and a lot misinformations are cycling around the world. Look at every supermarket, how much Whole grain and grain products they have in rafs, about 95% of products are hi carb hi GI and GL . They are cheap for creating, with those cr@p information from WHO they are selling a lot of "deitetical" foods like whole grain bread etc. and next what happens is people get fat and then comes in one very profitable company branch - fat loss supplemets.

Actualy :
WHO - totaly corrumped #%@&! on world with  90% lies and cr@p information
A lot companies profit a lot and working together with WHO to sell buII#%@&! informations.
Since this pyramid came out (think 1989) when the fats get killed with studys based on apsolute nothing this type of nutrition approach gets popular - grains grains whole grains bla bla bla BUT NO FATS, FATS ARE KILLING YOU DIE IF YOU EAT THEM

and look what happened since 1989, overweigthed population incerased for 800% since then.

Why don't you take a closer look at the pyramid. In this one (see above) vegetables, fruits and legumes are at the base. whole grains (grouped together with nuts) are limited to 5-20% of calories.

This is in contrast with, for example, the USA pyramid which places grains at the bottom.

Same shape (a pyramid), different content!

nutrition should be created by detecting special needs by everyone. there is no single nutrition approach which is the best.

protein and fats are essential nutrients so they should be taked in every day depending on activity level how much protein.
Carbs, depending on bodyfat percentage, insuline sensivity and carb tolerance.

Today, 70% of population are carb intolerant and insulin resistent, they should avoid carbs untill they fix this  hormonal distortion.

vitamins and minerals, vary from person to person. people are in most cases deficient in vitamin D3 so i add it to every of my clients until good levels are reached, iron is ofthen in womens...etc etc..

the healthiest people on earth are eskimos, all they-re eating is lean protein and healthy fats, they never saw carbs before the americans brougth them to them. they dont know what a heart attack.

i am a pyramid hater, sorry :)

If you are also a 'hater' of the Eat To Live book (by Dr Joel Fuhrman) then perhaps you shouldn't be posting in the Eat To Live topics (or have you not realised that this is where you are posting).

Help ME!! I am allergic to most produce tomatoes, lettuce, apples, melons, bananas (which is related to my latex allergy), with exception of blueberries, rasberries, strawberries, and grapes.  I am also allergic to most nuts with the exception of peanuts. I am also allergic to shellfish.  I have kidney disease, ULCER and LUPUS.  With all of my medical visits I do not have the $ to visit Dr. fuhrman or be a part of his $30 per month forums page.  I figured the only things i can really eat are leafy greens like Collards, Spinach, Kale, and broccoli.  I can eat beans.  Not being able to eat animal products like beef and dairy will be very challenging for me  what can i do?  please help.

I'm on day five and I am not as hungry as much as I am just not satisfied. I do still. however, completely beleive in this program. I just have to get used to it. I've lost 5 lbs in five days, but I broke down and had a burger today :(. I'm just going to move forward though. The key is always have the healthy foods on hand.
