Hello everyone! My name is David and I am a 25 year old male from Ohio. I've always been heavy all my life. My freshman year in highschool was probably when I was in the best shape and i weighed 280lbs. I am 6'2'' and i currently weigh 370 lbs. I started to eat healither and excersice more 2 weeks ago tomorrow. When i weighed in before starting this "life change" i was 383lbs. The highest I've ever weighed was 397lbs and that was a mere 6 months ago.

I was consuming 6-7 20oz bottles of Moutain Dew a day. I was also eating fast food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  When I stepped on the scales and saw that I was only a few more days of bad eating away from 400lbs i decided it  was time for a change. But now im ready to take it seriously.

Already after only 2 weeks of eating better and excersicing i feel 100percent better. I have more energy, I goto sleep easier, i wake up easier...its already a much better life!

I am posting this so that I can have the moral support of all of you, and to have someone to share in my success if I do manage to succeed.

This is a picture of me (obviously the man on the left) before i started making changes. I was over 385lbs in this picture.

So I figure i can make a post once a week or so about what im doing and how its going. Since I'm two weeks behind I'll put them both into one post.

I stopped drinking soda all together. I only drink water now and its taken me about two weeks to finaly get used to it. Before I was having to force myself to drink it, but now that I've forgotten what pop tastes like its pretty easy lol.

I am a delievery driver, so I am in a Van for 8-10 hours a day. This really limits my ability to move around but what is really bad is my limitations on food choices. I have done some research and found what is best out there for fast food. I've been eating almonds, peanuts, and a piece of fruit (banana or apple) for breakfast. Then having 10 chicken nuggets from wendys or mcdonalds for lunch..which i know isn't the best thing in the world, but its not as bad as the choices i was making. They have about 250 calories per 5. Then for dinner I'll have a salad, or a can of soup.

As far as the limitations on getting some excersize in the van goes: I bought a 10lb weight and a pair of 'grippers' so that i could do some stregth training while i drive... hey its no worse than texting and driving is it??

I am going to, from this point onward, start recording what i eat everyday so that i can count the calories and let everyone here know what im eating.  But i have already been recording my work outs.

So here is all my excersie over the last 2 weeks. Keep in mind I am nearly 400lbs and completly out of shape...so its starting off slowly.

6-25     383lbs
6-28     3 Miles in 1:20 ( 2 Sessions)

6-29 1.5 miles in :30

6-30 1.33 miles in :30

7-1 2.93 miles in 1:00 ( 2 sessions)

7-2      371lbs

7-5   1.27 miles in :30

7-6  3.03 miles in 1:00 (2 sessions)

7-7 3.06 miles in 1:01 ( 2 sessions)

This is, of course, all treadmil workouts. I plan to add some situps/pushups when I get more strength and endurence.

Hey David.........welcome to CPH!   We wish you all the best............we all started at different weights...........and have different goals.   But, I've found we often have the same struggles and problems to overcome.

Great news, on giving up the soda pop.    I did that several years ago............I've had maybe 2-3 cans in that time.   I don't miss it...........I drink tons of water........green tea and black coffee............and when there's an occasion, I drink a glass of dry red wine, the ones that are suppose to be more heart healthy.   It adds a bit of variety to life!

I think one of the secrets to success is to post in your diary.   There's something about knowing you are going to be accountable, that helps you make the right decisons......also knowing all your cyber-buddies will be reading about it, that helps too!

Waiting to read about your successes!   A suggestion..........take your measurements!   The scale isn't the only tool to measure progress............sometimes that scale derails us, when it isn't moving.   That's when you turn to your tape measure, and check your progress that way.

The tutorials and the newsletter on this website have very valuable information on healthy eating..........how and why...........go get 'em David!

Hey David, welcome to CPH! :D

If you have time, you should make sack lunches that will keep while your driving, before you even leave the house. That way, you know you have something healthier then fast food (Cause no matter how healthy they make it sound, it's usually worse.)

Bring some fruit that won't need refridgerating either, like Bananas and oranges and apples (Unless of course, you like those chilled, in which case, check out a thermal kids lunch pale/bag and chill the fruit overnight. Noone's gonna see the lunchpale but you, since your in the van all day. So Why not let your inner child out for a little while in the proccess? :D )

The weights might not be the best idea for use when driving, but... :/ just be careful there, alright? Getting in a crash can seriously mess up your diet and workout routine. D:

Hopefully you'll find the support your looking for here. :D And Like HisGal said, Posting in your journal helps a lot! Many of us post every day, and others post once a week, but in that one week post, they put EVERYthing from that week. Makes for quite a long post with info alone :o

Best of luck!

Thanks so much for the support guys! Today has been rough for some reason. Not to stay on my diet, but to motivate myself to do some exercises. I did my weight lifting and my sit-ups, but I think im going to take a day off of jogging. I had some extra time yesterday so I did an hour and a 1/2 instead of my normal 30-45 mins.

I think that was a bit too much for me right now, as I slept for 10 hours and my legs and back have been killing me all day. I've read that everytime you work out you are actually breaking down your muscles, and a day of rest each week is good to let your muscles build back up...so i suppose i will take today to do just that.

I'm planning to goto the mall today to buy a better pair of shoes to jog in, the current ones i have are pretty worn out. Although i havn't decided if i should get a nice pair that will last a while, or buy a cheap pair becuase at my weight i'll probably wear any pair of shoes out pretty quick. Let me know what you guys think.

Well Thursday is my weigh-in day..so here it is.. drumroll please!

365lbs!!
I know thats like 3 people...but its down from 371 last week! So im pretty happy about it. If i can manage to keep up this motivation I have then i'll be taking my shirt off at the beach for the first time ever next summer!

Heres what I've eaten the last few days ( this is the part where i would really love some help/advice)

7-8                                         Calories
Breakfast - Protein Shake - 180
Lunch - 10 chicken nuggets - 500
Dinner - Soup -                      250
Snack -  Serving of peanuts -  160
                                     Total 1090

7-9
Breakfast - Cottage Cheese - 110
                  Peanut butter -      120
                  Milk -                      110
Lunch - Chicken Nuggets   -   500
Dinner - 3 tacos (Tacobell) -  720
Snack -  Serving of peanuts- 160
                                     Total 1720

As you may be able to tell I'm mainly watching 2 things. Calories and Protein. Nuggest have 23g protein the shake has 16g, tacos have 33g, and of course cottage cheese/peanut butter/milk are also good sources of protein.

From what ive learned on this site 2 things i need to do is have a sagnifigant calorie deficet and plenty of protene and exercise so that i dont end up burning my musles for fuel instead of fat.

I have the willpower to work out and eat right ( for some reason...it just came to me a while ago, ive never felt this strongly about losing weight before in my life...It was about the same time i discovered this website.. Thank you CPH!!!) I just need a little help becuase i'm pretty clueless when it comes to these things. Thanks a lot  in advance for your comments!

Hi Clagger

Welcome. I am running the weight loss challenge you just joined, so well done.

A few pointers. You are right to have a rest day when everything starts to ache and hurt. You also run your immune system down if you work out hard every day. 5 days a week would be good.

On the food front as the other guys said try and cut out the fast food.

Healthy bread and tuna or chicken sandwich in a cool box in the van would be great.
Nuts are a great snack but have huge calories in them.

In your weight loss period I would and do eat, grapes bananas, apples oranges peaches nectarines melon, you could munch on raw carrots. Chunks of raw cauliflower. Half a honeydew melon is 150 cals. You could eat 2 large honeydew melons for your chicken nuggets. A bran cereal or muesli with fruit would be good breakfast.

The big thing is not to get hungry. Some people go on about not eating in the evenings. At the start of my weight loss I had a large bowl of cereal before bed. I now have 2 pieces of toast half an hour before bed. If I have worked out hard I will also have a banana. YOU DON'T HAVE TO FEEL HUNGRY!!!. In fact as a rule if you feel hungry eat but make it healthy:grin::grin:

I had 45lbsto lose and have lost 30lbs since Christmas. If I can do it, you can.

I don't know what Ohio is like mate, but why not get out and walk (hills?) are great round lakes etc. You =can break into a jog when no one is looking:grin: Some music on mp3 is also great motivator (Killers etc) and I am 51 yrs old. I do have a 20 yr old daughter who buys my music!!

Your cals seem a bit on the low side for the 8th. :/ But oh well. Everyone has unwilling low-cal days.

I still say pick up a lunchpale and make your own lunch at home. Get a thermos (sp?) and pack some soup, or pack a dry sandwitch and measure out the toppings, if you want them (Mustard, ketchup, Mayo...) into their own little bags so you sandwitch won't get soggy by the time you get to eat it. (And it's great for portion control, measure out the toppings as you pack them and you know you won't go over! :D )

If you end up craving the chicken nuggests, try making your own at home! If you have one of those counter-grills that drain off fat as it cooks, grab a bag of chicken breast or tenderloins, cut it up into nugget sized peices, and grill it up!  You could do the same with the tacos :3 Pick up your own ingredients, measure out the meat into individual bags when you get home and use what you need when your in the mood for a taco. You can also pile on your own mix of toppings instead of the usual cheese, sour cream and the like. Great way to experiment and try maybe some raw bell pepper or something on your taco, or a different kind of lettuce.

As for your running shoes, I dunno. I wear boots most the time, Do everything in them and it usually takes a year and a half for them to start showing signs of wearing down. But since your gonna be working out just as much as your in the van probably, take the normal time it takes for your shoes to wear out and cut it in half, see how long it is, and then try to find a good, cheap pair of running shoes. Most likely they'lll last a bit longer then predicted, since they're used for a specific set of activities, and not general use.

Also, YAY for the weight loss! :D Your well on your way, so keep it up!

Hi David, welcome and congrats on what you've managed so far. What type of deliveries do you do? I spent about 3 and a half years as a courier making deliveries out of my pickup truck, and the last 4 years being the person you probably hate (dispatcher).

I know first hand being on the road can lead to some bad habits. It is so easy to justify fast food since it is so quick and easy to get and eat while driving. However, I would really recommend eliminating it entirely. I've gone 2 months now without and it does get easier to eliminate it the longer you go. If you are like me, packing a lunch isn't really an option you want to do. What I've been doing for lunch the past few weeks is going to the grocery store on my lunch break and picking up fresh cut fruit. For just over $3.00 I'm getting a good amount of pineapple, strawberry and blueberries. That holds me over for a good 3 hours and then I eat lunch #2 which right now is a package of jalapeno Doritos crackers. The crackers probably aren't the best choice, but they work for now, and I can keep them in my car so I don't need to worry about forgetting them in the morning.

Also, good job on quitting the Mountain Dew. I was addicted to Dr Pepper myself, drinking a 2 liter bottle a day while at work and 2 or 3 cans at home. That was about 1000 calories a day right there. I'm drinking Coke Zero instead right now and I plan on cutting that out at some point and drinking water instead. Kudos to you for skipping that phase entirely. How does the water affect you while driving? I know for me, water goes right through me. Thats got to be somewhat challenging being on the road all day.

Anyway, good luck and keep us posted.

THanks for all the support guys! I'll try to answer all the questions you asked. I havn't been able to log on for a few days so I apologize for a slow reply.

As far as going out into the city or going to the lake to run: I really dont want to be seen in public sweating like a hog and my fat rolls flopping up and down as i jog. I have got a plan though. There is a YMCA just 15 mins away so when i get to 300 pounds I am going to join.

John  : Yeah I am acutaly going to get me a Star wars lunch pail and pack a ham sandwhich and fruit everyday..although im not the "plan ahead" kinda guy when it comes to stuff like that. So i dont know how long i can keep it up. But i've been stopping into Krogers to buy the 24 packs of water, so theres no reason why i couldn't pick up a cup of fruit while im there. I love apples and grapes, so I guess i'll try replacing my fast food with that.

Storm : I decided to go with the cheap running shoes instead of buying something more expensive. They are a very welcome change on the treadmil. I've got several large nasty blisters on my feet but They are starting to get better witht he new shoes. They were only 25 dollars so i dont see them lasting for more than a month or so, but i can afford 25 a month to have shoes in tip top condition.

Tontus : I deliever medical equipment, its a very small company. We have 3 offices that cover over a 300 mile radius and we only have 13 employees. So I really dont have a dispatcher or anything, im kind of my own boss. I dont have to clock out for lunch, or even ask to stop by a supermarket or anything..so in that respect its a very nice job. As far as the water goes, I've actauly seen a reduction in the amount of times I have to goto the bathroom lol. I'm drinking the equilivant of liquid..but urinating less..go figure.

But thank you all for your support! I'm feeling a little under the weather today..so Im hoping I feel better ina couple of hours so i can at least walk on the treadmil..but as it stands now I'm stuck in bed.

I'm posting my offical "before pic" i Took it a few days ago but didn't want to post it...but I am confident that i'm doing well so i will learn to love this picture as i lose weight and can look back to see how far i've come

Hello everyone! Today is a great day. I've been in bed for 20 hours out of the day for the last 2 days. The doctor didn't know what i had, but the antibotics sure helped! I would say that you all know what its like when you goto sleep feeling like #%@&! and wake up feeling much much better. Its a great feeling..like i've been reborn and ready to start the day out right!

I just have to keep reminding myself to take it easy becuase i'm not at 100percent yet. So im going to take it easy on the treadmil today when i get home. I've had 2 days with no excersise and I'm going through withdraws!!! I can honestly say that I look foward to lifting and jogging now. Its the wierdest thing ever. I am living the lifestyle of a skinny person..my body just hasn't caught up yet!

I am currently enjoying a declious Gala apple for lunch and taking a break from the heat outside. I havn't posted my food log or excersise log in a while, but I plan to soon. I dont have my logs here at work or I would now.

Post Script: Awesome side note from my Doctor's visit: The scales in exam rooms only go up to 375( only...lol) so the last time i was there in Jan. we had to go out to the hallway to the shamu scales to weigh me. Well when he came in and started to take my vitals; blood pressure, tempature, etc he said "lets step in the hall here and get your weight." To which i replied " We can do it right here and weighed in at 362lbs!! The last time i was in his office i was 397 or so. So he was surprised and stated he was very happy to see me going in the right direction, and it felt great to hear that!

Hi David! Congratulations on your weight loss and I know you can keep up the great work! I also want to say that I think it's awesome you are taking charge of your weight and your health now; my father has been extremely obese all his life and it has really taken a toll on his health and it makes me so happy to see someone who has decided to change their life and get healthy... especially while they're still young! I wish you the best of luck and I know you can reach your goals.
You can do it! I look forward to seeing more updates. (:

I have been struggling to get up to 1500 calories. When i look back on some of those low days i was starving most of the day... But i feel like an alcoholic if i eat everytime im hungry then i'll just stay fat! I dont want to mess up my diet and lose all the hard work I've done over the last few weeks!! I know 700 calories is way too low...but its hard to find something to eat on the road thats cheap and requires no cooking or prep.

I am also trying to quit smoking....which will ulitmately help me. But i think really complicates things for right now... I either want to eat something, or smoke something.....And I'm not allowing myself to do either lol.... Its going to be a rough couple of weeks!!
But in the last few days ive been trying to not really have a 'meal' but just snack every couple of hours throughout the day, to keep my matabasim going.

You have got to get those calories up. You are starving yourself. Pack things to take with you. In seperate containers. You can maybe even calculate the cals for each container so you can make sure that you get enough.

And try chewing gum for when you get the cigaret or food urge. Not too much of course, but by keeping your mouth busy it could work for you.

And congrats on the smoking btw. it is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Take from the daughter to an oversmoker with badbadbad lungs. I fear for lung-cancer. It is a good thing that you have chosen not to permit yourself to ever let that fear be present in any of your loved ones.

David.............for what it's worth..........I agree with sqzee...........your calories are really low for your current weight.

RMR/BMR calories for 25 yo. male, 6'2", and 355 lbs...............is 2665-3051 calories.   That is the calories needed just to keep you alive........to breath, for your organs to operate, etc..............if you use a factor of 1.2 for "sedentary" (which is lower than what I'd classify you-you are on the treadmill.....you should maybe use the next level for 1-3 days of exercise a week)........well anyway, at sedentary, your body needs 3198-3661 calories a day to maintain your current weight.   Many people cut this amount by 15% to lose weight.   When you are heavier, you can cut these calories more drastically than someone who is only slightly overweight, but you are cutting them pretty low.

If you are having trouble getting the calories in, add some healthy higher calorie snacks.   What about almonds or pecans or walnuts?   I often use the ones in the baking aisle.....they don't have added oil or salt.......yet they are a protein and good fat, which are 2 nutrients to eat, that will help you feel satisfied longer.    It won't add a lot of calories, but what about a single serve bag of SmartPop popcorn?   It's a whole grain, low in fat, and makes for a lot of chewing!   Or a slice or 2 of low fat lunch meat/2% cheese slices or fat free cream cheese rolled up in a whole grain tortilla or pocket bread.  Add lettuce or onion or spinach......Very filling.........yet healthy.    And don't forget legumes.........they add calories, yet are a good protein and low in fat.    I love baked beans!   I buy the vegetarian ones, so there is no added bacon fat to them.    Do you like yogurt?   You could put some fat free yogurt or fat free cottage cheese in a small cooler in your truck.....they are good protein and low or fat free.   I love to mix my fruit in them.    Just a couple of ideas..........

I do know that fear of getting out of control..........but writing everything down really helps with that.   Sometimes I would write it all down in the morning, and then I only allow myself those foods..............or figure out just so many foods/calories for the day, up until dinner time.   Then you always know where you are, calorie-wise.......and can adjust for your dinner meal.

I just don't want you to consume too little calories, and set yourself up for failure.

Right now (for over a year) I am doing the Alternate Day Diet........so one day I fast, and 2 days I eat below 500 calories........but my Up-Days are alternated with those low days, and I always average my RMR over the week, if not more calories than my RMR.   That keeps my body guessing, so it doesn't ever think it's getting too few calories, and try to hang onto the fat.    I just think that maybe you are consistantly consuming too few calories for your weight.    You don't want your body to rebel, and stop losing.

Congratulations on reaching your first goal!! Send some of that success my way, haha.
And it's good that you're eating healthier! Your calories are still a bit low for your weight, but hey, it's better than overeating, right?
Either way, good work!! Keep it up.

I know i havn't posted in a long time but i've been very busy!

I've slacked off some on the treadmil, but have been keeping to my diet.  I weighed in at 341.80 last thursday which is a total of 56 pounds lost!!!! I dont know what im going to do to monitor my weight from here on out.  My good scales are broken and tell me i Weigh anywhere between 310lbs to 365lbs....not very accurate. So I've got some standard floor scales that I've had forever, but could never use becuase it only goes up to 350! So I'm happy that i can acutaly use them... but they are not very accurate either..I can lose a pound or two from stepping on and off the scales. So i might go buy some new scales or just deal with what i have and not worry so much about the number..

If it's only off by a pound or 2, I wouldn't stress too much. You will still be able to see results every week. Then again, you could pick up a digital scale that also reads body fat % for pretty cheap. I found one on ebay for $20 plus shipping, and it comes with the added bonus of always being about 4.5 pounds under what it should be, so the number look even better.

The ol' Uniform is getting a little big on me lol. It looks like im wearing a dress most of the time. The boss man said he would look into the cost of getting new uniforms for me ( since we have a rental contract with a company) But he probably doesn't want to spend any money on uniforms im just going to "shrink out of" in a few months.

Well guys i could almost cry! I am only 10 pounds or less to only being obese! I have been morbidly obese all my life. Thank you caloriesperhour for your help and thank you everyone that has been kind enough to post nice, helpful, and encourging words on this forum!! A special thanks to John and Nir for running the contest which really pushed me to work hard to blow my goal out of the water!

I am able to goto the basketball court and play for a couple of hours (half court) with friends... i havn't been able to do that in a long time without taking so many breaks inbetween that my friends wouldn't want to invite me anymore. And my jump shot is coming back!! lol

I am no where near my goal weight, but I think 65 pounds is #%@&! good! It hasn't been easy at all but looking back at it i wish i could have had the drive to do this 10 years ago.

I am planning to go clothing shopping when i lose another 30 pounds! Its going to very exciting to see what clothes that acutaly fit me look like on my new body. (And i usualy HATE the prospect of buying new clothing)

My success has acutaly helped many of those around me. Becuase my friends and family see how well I am doing, and how much energy and love for life i have now they too want to join in! My brother, cousin and serveral friends have challeneged each other and myself to get in shape. Some to lose 20 or 30 lbs others to lose as much as 80 or even in one case to put on some weight in the form of musle!

I'll end on a sad note becuase happiness is never intersting news.  Im getting very worried that Im going to have a lot hanging skin after i reach my goal. I'm already starting to see lots of excess skin around my inner thigh, belly, and arms =( But I need to cross that bridge when i come to it. Im still working out just about every day which is about all i can do as far as i understand to pervent the loose skin. Theres always skin removal surgery which I think i might turn to if i must. I'm not going to work this hard to NOT look good on the beach!!!!

I havn't been doing a lot of updates but thats mainly becuase the send button on the reply page doesn't work on my cellphone =( I rarely make it to my computer desk these days.

The past few weeks have been nothing but basketball. From the time i get off work until it gets dark. And im loving every second of it. I was a big time basketball guy all though school and into college. Although i stopped playing my sophmore year of highschool I was a starter every year before it.  Tonight has been the first night since I started that I felt like I've got my game back. My jump shot is starting to be where it used to, and no one can stop my drive. I was feeling pretty #%@&! good on the court today. Me and my cousin whos losing weight with me (6'0'' 300lbs) played a little 2 on 2 half court with a couple of college guys. Both about 6'1'' and equipped with 6 packs.

Sure they could run and catch loose balls, but they were in for a surprise when the 330lb guy was taking them to school, getting every rebound, and making 80percent from the field. Its amazing to me that I was quick enough to guard them without them getting a single layup in over an hour of games. Needless to say that we beat them 4/4 times.  I wouldn't feel nearly as good about this if they were bad players..but they werent. I think the fact that I'm very much in shape and over 300lbs surprises a lot of people.  So it plays to my advantage.

Baby, my game is coming back!!

I'm not quite ready for full court....thatll be a little while longer. But I've seen SOOOOOOOO much improvement in my quickness, agility, and endurance over the last few weeks that im optomistic that full court will be sooner rather than later.

on the food side of things ive been keeping it on or below 1500 calories. Although i have been drinking some Pepsi Zero.. 0 cals, carbs and only 25mg per servering (1percent daily value) so i honestly dont know how much worse than pure water it is..but its certainly better than the full flavor that i was drinking.

well this post is getting into the "too long, didn't read" realm. So ill finish it up with a little excercise tip for those of you that care to listen. (Weight loss tips from a 330lb guy...whos this guy kidding?) Do something you like...I was having to push myself to get on the stationary bike or treadmill.....lately I can't WAIT to get on the court and break a good sweat(and a couple of college guys' egos)

FROM THE TOP OF THE KEY! ITS THE SWEATY FAT GUY! ITS UP! ITS UP! ITS GOOD!!!!

Hey everyone! Long time no post. Its been a crazy hectic few weeks! but im managing to stick to the diet and excersise..whenever one slacks for the day i rely on the other one to make up for it =) I ate some spaghetti, so i did 15 extra mins on tread mill.. I didn't have time to work out one day, so i left out the dressing on my salad....seems to be working for me.

I wanted to post some before/after side by side comparison pictures...Can't wait to hear what you guys think!

I would have liked to have taken these shirtless pictures at the same distance and place every time....but we are remodeling the bathroom  that i took the first photo in...so theres not even a floor in there right now, let alone a mirror!!

This picture is taken by a coworker ever 2 weeks.. I have 4 or 5 pictures inbetween but for dramatic effect you've gotta see the first vs most recent. I'm pretty sure that if i had a uniform that fit me ( this one is currently 3 sizes too big in the shirt and 4 sizes too big in the pants ) that i would look even skinnier!

Wow Clagger, that is amazing, you look great!  You're doing such an awesome job.  I'm so glad you've been able to stick to it, and that you're making smart choices, dieting isn't easy, but it's not impossible either.  Can't wait to see you in clothes that fit!  That's my favorite part of losing weight, buying smaller sizes.

I havn't been on the computer to update in a long time. I do most of my internet activity from my phone nowadays and for some reason this site doesn't like my phone.

I am happy to report that i am still losing weight and still doing great on my diet plan. I weighed in today at 272lbs, which is a total of 125lbs lost ( i know right, i can't believe it either)

I'll post the newest pic of me for shock and awe. My orignial goal was 220, but i think 200 might be better for me. So I'm still looking at losing another 70lbs or so before getting surgery to remove the excess skin(which i already need badly and have more to lose)

Dude, that is insane! 125 pounds since June 25th. Wow! Thats not even 6 months! #%@&! fine job so far. Words can't even begin to describe just how impressive that is.

Let me ask you though, do you have any regrets about doing it so fast? I was concerned about the skin issue myself, and since I figured there was no way I would ever do surgery, I decided to slow it down some and hope that my skin can "snap" back. So far it seems to be working, but I can't help but think had I done it your way, I would be done now. Then again, I'm not sure that I or any other mere mortal could have done it your way. Any thoughts?

Also, how are your legs? I know that sounds like an odd question, but I've noticed my legs seem to be in pretty decent shape. I usually cheat a bit on my lower body work outs so it didn't make sense that my legs would be in as good shape as they are. I'm guessing it's because they were used to carrying around 270-315 pounds for more than 20 years.

Anyway, good job so far, and keep us posted a bit more frequent please. Also, how are your 2 friends coming along?

Its been a little while since my last post. Ive only got a couple of mins to type before my biology class.

I started school, and am still working Full time..whichis making it harder and harder to eat healthy. I seem to just grab whatever I can while i'm running out the door...and it dosent' seem to be the best option.

Also I have less and less time to exercise. I've gained a couple of lbs this week and I really need to focus on my diet and work out regiment like i was before.

Well, im off to class...

Long time since a post so i figured its about time. I'm down to 248lbs now, So i've lost a total of 149lbs so far. I'm looking for another 40 or so until I'm done. I'm actually in between reps now of girly push ups because i can't do a real one..lol I've been REALLY slacking off on my treadmile/bike recently... I blame it on the immense back pain and overall fatigue i've been having. I forget the term, but I'm one of those people whos energy level depends a lot on the weather outside. And its been terrible here in Ohio for the last couple of months...So its hard for me to drag myself out of bed. However when the weather improves I should pick back up on my work outs.

On the other side of things my healthy eating has become second nature. Its not only easy to order good food at a restaurant, or buy only healthy things at the store, its pretty much natural now for me now. I wouldn't even think of buying frozen pizzas or ramen noodles like I used to do.

Well, its time to try and build a little more bulk. I keep meaning to post more often, but never seem to make time to do it. I'll work on that.

Hey Clagger,  congratulations, a 149 pounds, WOW and eating healthy has become a habit....that is huge. I know what you mean about the weather, it is so hard to push yourself out of bed in the morning when it is still dark. Or even later in the day it's tough to get out if there is no sunshine.

I sympathize with the push up thing, I can not do one full one yet. My trainer suggested it is better to do a full one from a bench than to do girly ones. She said it will get me to a real one faster. How fast I can't say since I'm not there, I struggle to do 8 on the bench. It might not be for you but I thought I'd mention it.

I have just found this thread for the first time, and I have to say it is very impressive.

Fantastic accomplishment. Way to go. I look forward to posting my own before/after photos. You are obviously very dedicated. Was there a magic moment that has never been extinguished, or has the determination ever waned along the way?

What exactly is a "bench" pushup??

My friend has done the hundred pushup thing before, and suggested that i try it. one thing i have going against me is a disease of the spine. It is called Schurermann's. One of the problems it causes is chronic back pain for days if i manage to put weight on my spine in a bad angle. When I try to do pushus I always end up hurting my back for a day or two...

tourproven: thanks for the support.  The first few weeks were sheer determination. I had to tell myself every day that I could do it. It was very very very hard. But after a few weeks I was noticing HUGE changes and that fueled me like nothing else. I write down everything I eat, every exercise I do, and every week I write down my weight so I can see the numbers falling. I think this is how I've kept myself motivated along the way. It makes me accountable for my actions...Not only for the bad ones, but gives me a feeling of accomplishment when I look back on a week that I worked out hard, or managed to not stray from my diet.

Here recently I have been adding more calories ( in the form of beer lol) and working out less...but thats because when I look in the mirror now I'm not unhappy with what i see... In fact in the last 20lbs or so I have become quite proud of what I see.. So even though I want to lose another 40lbs or so. I do not feel the NEED for it now.

Not to get all teary eyed on you guys... But for the first time since i can remeber, I feel good about what I see in the mirror. I dont feel GREAT...not yet.. But if I dont lose another pound, then I will still feel good =)
