My Tutorial describes the ETL forumulas as:
Healthier, leaner versions of the Hamwi formulas
I don't know enough to explain or defend the ETL formulas, but thought it was significant that at least my site didn't say they were ideals... but rather better than the "gold standard" Hamwi formulas.

If you are watching your body fat percent, I don't see any reason to even look at such crude formulas.

You're right, Peter. I suppose I just wanted a bit of a second opinion, because I'm calculating that a weight of 118 will get me to 20% body fat. Not much room for a bit of extra weight on a slight frame, I guess. I think it will be quite a challenge for me to get to 118. I might not have said that 3 months ago, but my efforts so far have yielded absolutely no results. My confidence is weakened. I have plenty of room for improvement still...
Today I felt very bingey. I started off with a bite of bran muffin that I accidentally ripped the top off. I quickly realized what I was doing and threw the rest away. I then did the same thing with a scone.... one or two bites of an extra... ooops!... threw the rest away. Oh boy, I knew right then I was going to have a tough day. This pattern repeated: a few bites of leftover marshmallows that I had made yesterday, half of a mug of tomato soup, 4 or 5 tortilla chips. By then end of the day, I had "sinned" and then quickly repented about 6 times!!
So far: protein bar, piece of a bran muffin, bite of a scone, marshmallow scraps, grapes, half of a mug of tomato soup, pretzels, tortilla chips, leftover brussel sprouts, protein smoothie. Total 1300, 19%P, 19%F.
Nice heart pumping workout on the elliptical machine for 30 minutes. It's raining here.

Managed to keep myself too busy to do too much damage at work today. I did have to try a taste of a new mousse that I made up. White chocolate cherry layered with chocolate cake. I tasted the mousse, and it turned out really yummy! So I tasted it a few more times, I admit it.
For today: protein bar, bites of mousse, big hunk of tuna steak, biscotti, hummus on multigrain with sprouts & tomato, rye crackers, cottage cheese, lots of green beans, half of a tofu dog (yuk!), banana, bit of dark chocolate (I threw the rest away!!). Total 1450, 22%P, 22%F.
Walked for about 45 minutes. Did pilates DVD too!!
I've been having an interesting email exchange with my ex who lives across the country now. We've kept in touch sporadically for a couple of years now. He's the one who told me I wasn't as attractive after I had gained 5 or 10 pounds. I was at about 125 at that time, rock climbing all the time, pilates all the time, etc, etc. It still bothers me to this day (and I weigh 5 pounds more than that now), and I admitted it to him for some reason. I can't ever remember feeling ashamed of my body before he broke up with me and told me that. And frankly I'm sad that I can't make it leave the back of my mind.

Oh my I didn't do so well at work today. I was trying another creation, which I had to sample to make sure it tasted pretty good... a creamy lemon roulade cake. Wasn't my favorite ever. And later on I impulsively ate an oatmeal raisin cookie. Why do I feel like I'm in a confessional today? I have plans to meet my beau at a local mexican restaurant for a secret shopper assignment this evening. I just looked at their menu online... I don't see anything that is going to be good for me. I could just splurge a little bit and chalk up the day to "cheating" - but I've been doing fairly well lately and I don't want to mess it up!
Today so far: protein bar, grapes, bite of lemon cake, oat cookie, cup of vegetable stew, piece of homemade pizza, grapes, cottage cheese, 3 lite beers, chips, black beans, chix enchiladas. Total 2000, 19%P, 30%F.
Did elliptical cardio for 30 minutes AND squeezed in an extra 45 minutes of walking briskly by getting off at a farther away metro stop. My energy level is recovered, for now!!
**dinner at the mexican restaurant wasn't completely disasterous, but not really a success. I made sure to have only one very modest portion of the chips, black beans, and enchiladas. But of course, even modest portions add up quickly. Add 3 lite beers in there. I only wanted two, but the third came anyway and I drank it.

I forgot to take a homemade protein bar with me for breakfast. The day is always disasterous when this happens. I even knew it was going to be tricky - but I just lose focus so easily. And this was no exception. But I made another batch today, whew!
For today: piece of bread, grapes, cup of veggie "stew", nibble of goat cheese, cup of fatty chili (d'oh!), piece of leftover breakfast sausage (d'oh again!), big bowl of green beans, big bowl of scallops with broccoli & carrots. Total 1500, 30%P, 25%F.
Walked for home from work (20 minutes) and did pilates dvd.
I looked at the levi's site to see what the "average" measurements are based on jeans size. Is anyone else completely non-conforming to the normal measurements?!? I've reaffirmed that I'm built like a twelve year old boy.
Bust 32"
Waist 28"
Hips 30"
I've got to get a proper tape measurer (instead of using string and a ruler) because this just does not seem right. No wonder I have such a hard time clothes shopping!

Revised measurements (with actual tape measure)
Bust 32"
Waist 28"
Hips 34"
Still a bit boy-like, but not as bad as I thought.
We went to the baseball game yesterday. Boy was it a production trying to get the afternoon off work. I'm trying not to feel sorry for myself, but I've had only one day off (Easter) the entire month of April. I visited a friend at her new job this afternoon, and she is trying to convince me to quit my job and work with her. If they could only pay me the same as I make now, I just might do it.
For yesterday, Wednesday: protein bar, scrambled eggs, grapes, piece of bread, small hummus sandwich with sprouts, hot chocolate, salmon, green beans, risotto. Total 1450, 24%P, 23%F. Not bad for a day that felt alot like "cheating".
Walked for about 45 minutes.

This is what a day without focus will do to me. 48% fat halfway through the day. Yuk. I felt scatterbrained and anxious all day, and I made extremely poor food choices. They almost weren't even choices... more like impulses. Of course, I will regroup and do better the rest of today and tomorrow too.
For today: protein bar, yogurt with granola, bite of cheesecake, bite of blondie, bite of lemon bar, tuna nicoise salad, cottage cheese, egg white omelet, protein bar. Total 1500, 26%P, 39%F.

I was feeling very focused all morning long. For lunch, my coworkers decided to make a giant batch of pupusas. Basically handmade, filled tortillas fried in... <gasp>... fat. I can't seem to say no. They would be sooo insulted. I had two. They tried to convince me to have more. I think two was enough.
For today: protein bar, grapes, half of a HB egg, pupusas filled with pork & cheese, cottage cheese, kiwi, lentil soup. Total 1550, 23%P, 28%F.
Did light weights routine for 45 minutes.

Week review, April 22-28:
- Average Calories 1560 (goal was 1500). Every day this week I was right at my goal, except for the one day that I ate at the mexican restaurant and had 3 beers. Consider that my 'maintenance' day.
- Average Protein 23% (goal was 25%). A little lower than I'd like, but not horrible.
- Average Fat 26.5% (goal was under 20%). Quite a bit more than I'd like. Every day this week I was over my goal. Directly related to junk food mini-snacks at work.
- Cardio on elliptical machine 3x , Pilates 2x, Walk 4x, Light Weights 1x. Wow, alot more activity this week than the previous few weeks. This is really great for me, as I often have low energy after work. Unfortuneately I'd have to get up at 3:30AM if I wanted to work out before work, so after-work exercise is really my only option. I actually managed some sort of activity every single day this week, which was my goal.
- I did watch out for my 10am-2pm potentially hazardous snack zone. I managed to spread out the junk food throughout the day this week, which is not good either. I would say 4 or 5 days this week I felt a bit out of control... grabbing too many bites of sweet & buttery treats.
- I didn't do quite so good this week getting lots of veggies. I certainly did not have one veggie-filled meal per day as was my plan. I think the key to this goal is planning - make sure I have something in mind to make before I get hungry. This way I don't automatically grab something not so great.
As far as results... I think I may have actually lost a teeny bit of fat!! Calipers seems to be down to 16mm, and weight seems to be down a pound or so. YAY!!
Next week, April 29-May 5:
-Calories 1500, Protein 25%, Fat under 20%.
- Activity every single day, including 4 cardio workouts and 2 pilates workouts! Sign up for trial membership at one of the two walking-distance gyms.
- I'm not going to set a specific goal for eating less junk food at work. But I will need to remind myself several times a day that eating junk food will NOT enable me to reach my goals.
- One veggie filled meal per day. Need to explore strategies for making this my lunch meal, as I typically make poorer choices then anyway. In other words, trade a relatively poorly chosen meal for a veggie filled meal!
- On a more personal note... take a day off work already!! I'm planning on Monday thank the jeez.
Overall goals:
Calipers read 10mm (21% body fat). I think this calculates out to losing a little over 10 pounds?! Also hopefully this will shrink my waist to 26" or so - which would let me fit into size 6 levi jeans very comfortably. There might be extra fabric where my hips are supposed to be, but what is a curve-less girl to do??

I can relate! WOmens pants have NEVER fit properly. HAve bought mens/boys pants countless times. I saw on my last mall walk in gap a straight or slim cut. It was late and I was not planning on spending so I just said "next time". There ARE women with no "Junk in our trunk". Hey!
i just had a question- what protein bar are you eating? i would like to find one that doesn't contain malitol (i think that's it) or the other ingredients (dexa- something) that cause intestinal problems. are there even any out there?
thanks

I make a batch of homemade protein bars (see Recipes forum, nevd's post on chocolate banana oatcakes) every week and eat about one every day. I find that having one for a light breakfast really starts my day off on a positive note. Every once in a while, I purchase one - but I have never been quite as satisfied with either the taste or the nutritional stats. This week, I made twice the amount and gave one batch to a co-worker. He loves them too now!
This past weekend was busy busy. Work very long day on Saturday (4am to 6pm) and work Sunday then have friends over for 4 course dinner. My beau loves to cook elaborate meals for his friends. Of course I helped. We kept it very healthy, although the sheer amount of food did some damage to my totals. No wine, no beer, no liquor - only sparkling water. Wow! This was quite a change from our normal dinner parties!
For Saturday: protein bar, piece of sausage, bites of mini pastries , giant spinach salad with can of tuna, banana, luna bar, rice with tofu and veggies, cantaloupe. Total 1600, 23%P, 20%F. Ate alot this day, including some junk food 'snacks' at work. Also did pilates for 30 minutes, which was a miracle given my busy day.
For Sunday: too many EEEVILLL marshmallows (I had to make these for a party, I love them from scratch!!), piece of chicken breast, piece of sausage, protein bar, grilled portabellas, giant dinner party at my apartment (baguette slices with cheese, cucumber tomato salad with vinegar, crab-stuffed mushrooms, monkfish, greenbeans, bite-sized fruit tart). Total 1650, 30%P, 25%F. I had a little bit of everything at the dinner, but focused on the healthy items. I'm happy with this approach for the social gatherings I've been to lately. It seems to be a compromise for me. I'm always going to love food, I think. Also squeezed in 30 minutes on the elliptical machine (this was REALLY a miracle!!).

You look to be doing really well on the protein/fat calories front. And with squeezing in some exercise.
Are the callipers showing you any reward?

Hope that's not an indelicate question...

Thanks for the encouragement, nevd! And it's not an indelicate question at all! Actually I meant to post my mini-success, but I guess I forgot. The calipers are down from 18mm to 16mm. I'm now at roughly 26% body fat. The scale moved down a pound or two also, but that fluctuates so much that I *try* not to pay too much attention.
I'm quite pleased that I've been fitting in more vigorous and regular exercise lately, and I think this might have something to do with kickstarting my body. I'm often a bit above my fat goal of 20% of calories, but it doesn't seem to be hindering me at the moment.

First day off work in over a month :D YAYAYAY!!!
I should have taken the day to lounge around and do absolutely nothing, but my inner taskmaster put me to work on my to-do list. Payed bills, cleaned the apartment (including every single dish I own from the dinner last night), popped by work for 30 minutes to place an order, ran a couple of errands, etc, etc. I shouldn't be surprised that I don't as relaxed as I had hoped. Back to the grind tomorrow, and a busy busy week it will be. I REALLY don't want to work a double shift on Saturday and then get up at 3AM on Sunday. But my boss was actually begging me. Poor planning on their part is starting to get on my last nerve. Push the bitter away, don't take it in... breathe....
For today: berries & grapes, protein bar, rye crackers, small piece of cheese, can of bean soup, pumpernickel bagel, indian spiced okra (yum!) with dhal (aka lentils). The indian meal was the best thing I have made in quite a while. I went back for seconds and didn't feel too guilty, since it's all good stuff.
Total 1600, 25%P, 12%F.
I was planning on getting on the elliptical machine this evening, but I am contentedly full of okra and lentils right now. Not sure if I can squeeze it in before I pass out for the evening.

Did not do any activity on Monday. As my free day/evening came to a close, I started getting really sad and mopey. Maybe it happened partially as a result of skipping my workout. Either way, I couldn't get motivated. The good news is that I didn't create a bad cycle of this behavior, because I got right back in the habit yesterday (Tuesday). And I'm definitely going to keep it going today too. Although maybe some pilates instead of cardio work, just to keep it from getting boring.
For yesterday: protein bar, plain yogurt with raspberries, piece of a lemon bar, hummus sandwich, cup of leftover lentils, dinner at a lebanese restaurant (salad, hummus, tabboleh, pita, falafel, eggplant dip, half of a baklava). Total 2000, 22%P, 28%F. Ellipitical machine 30 minutes, walk home from work 20 minutes.
Wow that lovely yummy dinner pushed me over into 'maintenance' calories mode. I completely attacked the salad first and ate my own and my beau's salad too! I was really craving it! Plus I ate both of our portions of the tabboleh, which is mostly parsley and tomatoes. I only had the pita as an afterthought. I definitely did eat too much though. This week so far has been a little 'off'. I've been aiming for 1500 calories and getting more than that everyday. It will be interesting to see if this shift affects the slight loss I had last week.

I was doing very well yesterday, until all my plans for the evening changed - and I never quite readjusted. I was hungry for dinner at about 5 or 6 pm, but my beau came home and wanted to go out. We went to this really great record store (we collect them) and looked through about one-tenth of what they had. By this time I was getting really cranky and starving. But I hate hate hate eating so late, past 8 pm or so. So here it is 9 pm or so, and I'm starving but I don't want to eat. What a wierdo!! We ended up at Cheesecake Factory (more money than I wanted to spend, too!), but I only ordered a giant salad. Dressing on the side, because this time I remembered. Just chicken breast and a giant bowl of greens, carrots, cucumbers, beans, and peppers. There were some crispy wontons, but I picked those out. It was so good I didn't even need dressing!! But I did need a glass of wine, just to calm my neurotic self down.
For yesterday, Wednesday: protein bar, banana, yogurt with raspberries, piece of steak, bites of creme brulee (oy the fat!! I had to test it, I swear!), cup of lentils, scrambled egg whites, kiwi, rye cracker, giant salad with veggies & chix, wine. Total 1550, 41%P, 23%F. Did 30 minutes of pilates AND 30 minutes of light weights. Yay!

Today was an almost bingey day. I'm very upset with myself. I'm not even sure how much little bits of cake bites that I stole. 500 calories worth? Ugh. I obviously needed real food too though, so I had a teeny little lunch. But it wasn't that great quality either. This weekend at work is the busiest that I have ever seen since I've been working at this job. We had ordered food in (ironically) because we had no time to cook for ourselves. It was salvadorian food - not healthy at all. I had tiny portions of a few different things. If I eat a healthy dinner, I might be able to even out the bad things I had during the day. But this week has been rough over all, and I would not be surprised at all if I re-gained the teeny almost-pound that I lost last week. :(
For today: protein bar, many many bites of lemon cake (EEEEVILLLLL), apple, small bit of refried beans, tortilla, can of tuna, plate of green beans, protein smoothie. Total 1450, 23%P, 21%F. Did elliptical machine for 30 minutes.

I just thought of something funny... it made me think of Peter too...
I'm starting to have these great cravings for my veggies. I've even got my beau eating more veggies, and he says he craves them too. When we went out to eat last night, we both ordered giant salads. He calls it "the monkey bucket", HA! You know when you go to the zoo, and they feed the monkeys the giant bucket full of fruits and veggies?!?!
I'll have the "monkey bucket" please!!

It was the monkey of course!!
Not so great of a day. Miracle of all miracles... I had only one piece of the pizza that my co-workers ordered in for lunch. I was forewarned that the pizza was coming, so I decided that I would just have one piece. However, I had a bagel earlier (which is fairly rare for me) and I ate part of a lemon bar (sadly, not rare at all).
For today: protein bar, bagel, cup of rice with chicken, grapes, piece of pizza, piece of a lemon bar, "monkey bucket" (celery stalks, broccoli, peas). Total 1550, 19%P, 18%F. My legs are achey from running around for 11 hours straight at work. Working out tonight feels doubtful right now...

Week Review April 29 - May 5:
- Average Calories 1630, goal was 1500. Not so great. Progress is stalled.
- Average Protein 26%, goal was 25%. Yay!
- Average Fat 21%, goal was under 20%. Not bad, but not great.
- Elliptical machine (cardio) 3x, Pilates 2x, Light Weights 1x, Walk 2x. Good progress because I squeezed in exercise even when I was busy and tired. Even on Friday, I went for a 45 minute walk when I thought I was too tired.
- Had a veggie-rich meal every day! Really starting to crave the veggies, so this is great.
- Ate junk food at work just about every day and had large dinners on two different days. The junk food issue seems to get more troublesome as my work-hours get longer.
- Still at 16mm on the calipers (26% body fat). Trying not to pay attention to weight as much, but I'll admit I would be happy if it inched down a bit more.
Next week May 6-12:
- Calories 1500, Protein 25%, Fat under 20%. Going to keep my nutritional targets the same and vary my exercise routine. This is to keep my body from falling into a rut (as was suggested by nevd). Also, I was going to aim for about half of my calories being eaten at work. Since I don't seem to eat as healthily there, maybe I can minimize the damage by eating less at those times of the day.
- Jogging/walking intervals outside 4x for 40 minutes each, Weight Training 2x (real weights!). I get bored so easily while lifting weights, but I'm hoping this new activity will keep my body guessing. (Have to think of some new novel approach for the following week!).

Right back on track despite an absolutely crazy day. I managed to get out of the 20 hour shift, but my day was still well over 12 hours. I was exhausted by the time I got home. I knew this crazy day was coming, so I planned in to my exercise goals for the week to take the evening off of any activity. Actually I walked to the grocery store - about 30 minutes total. So at least there's that.
For today: pineapple chunks, protein bar, fresh biscuit, potato/beet salad, piece of bread, cottage cheese, egg white scramble with bowl of veggies, protein smoothie. Total 1500, 25%P, 20%F. I hit my targets pretty much exactly, woo hoo!! Trying to limit the amount of calories I was taking in while at work was very helpful. I was very hungry by the time I got home, and I ate all the healthy food that I wanted.
Tomorrow won't be quite so crazy - I hope! But I'm going over to a friend's house for dinner. She normally cooks quite healthily, so it shouldn't be an issue. Same strategy as before - load up on any veggies and lean meat, everything else in moderation only. Hooray for progress!

Taking the day of from exercise on Saturday really affected my mood, I think. By the time I got home from work on Sunday I was very irritable. Perhaps I bit of PMS and the 3AM work thing too. Luckily I did my jog/walk intervals as planned and felt much much better afterwards. 45 minutes total. Today my back is stiff and sore, so I will have to stretch it out before I head out for more of the same. Since my exercise plan is only for this week, I'm not too worried about my back. Need something challenging but low-impact for next week...
For yesterday, Sunday: protein bar, pineapple, piece of lofat muffin, dried apricots, bits of cookie dough, cottage cheese, green salad, piece of cheese, broccoli, sloppy joe. Total 1500, 22%P, 25%F.

My day off today - very nice. Although the person who covers for me on my day off just gave their one-week notice. Jerk. After this next weekend, it's going to be another month before I get a day off. ERRR!
Did my intervals for 40 minutes, as planned. Yay me. Tomorrow will conquer the weights!
For today: cantaloupe, egg white omelet, protein bar, piece of cheese, giant salad (spinach, tuna, white beans, baby potatoes, tomato, red pepper), hummus sandwich. Total 1450, 27%P, 15%F

I just had a major urge to eat something really fatty and unhealthy. No veggie-cravings for me right now. I just went with the urge instead of fighting it and had a piece of pizza and a can of really unhealthy soup. Fat percents are all messed up for today now.
For today (so far): protein bar, cup of oatmeal, piece of pizza, can of creamy soup, protein bar. Total 1500, 16%P, 38%F.
Lifted weights for about an hour. The weights in the mini-workout room that's in my apartment complex are not very good.

Sweet jeebus, I had the fatty food craving again yesterday. Not sure where this is coming from, but this isn't really like me. Yes I eat unhealthy food all of the time... but mostly at work because it is sitting right in front of me. I rarely actively seek it out. I can't remember the last time I had fast food french fries - except for last night...
We went to this famous DC greasy diner called Ben's Chili Bowl. I've lived in the city for almost a year, and everyone is always telling me to go to Ben's. Finally I did. Of course, when in Rome you must do as the Romans. This constituted a giant chili dog in this case.
For yesterday, Wednesday: protein bar, chicken breast, rice, piece of a cookie, carrots, chili dog, french fries. Total 2000, 18%P, 43%F. Still really debating whether or not it was worth it. Of course the answer is supposed to be no... but honestly I believe a little hedonistic indulgence once in a while. The key being that I have to go back to my normal eating habits immediately. Hopefully this fatty food urge has passed.

Back to normal yesterday and today, whew! Pretty much atoned for my sins of Wednesday too.
For Thursday: protein bar, piece of warm biscotti, cup of chicken soup, piece of bread, carrots, stir fry tofu, brussel sprouts. Total 1000, 27%P, 16%F.
Did 40 minutes of intervals AND 30 minutes of lifting weights!!

Not so great today. Got really hungry at work, was very busy, snacked on what was in front of me - blondie bits, opera cake bits, pecan diamond bits. Not a good habit. Even too busy to use subjects in my sentences. heehee
For today: protein bar, yogurt, junk food bits (see above), peas & asparagus, hummus sandwich, fajitas with ww tortillas (used cottage cheese instead of cheese & sour cream, yum!). Total 1500, 24%P, 28%F.
I'm packing for my weekend trip to Ohio to surprise my family. I have to work at 3:30 am tomorrow so that I can leave by noon or so. Needless to say I'm going to bed early. Unfortuneately I'm skipping my workout as well. Sleep is gooood.

Week Review May 6 - May 12:
- Average Calories 1490, goal was 1500. :D I had one "splurge" day which I made up for the next day. So average still on track. Very happy with this strategy - body doesn't get in a rut and I feel indulged.
- Average Protein 22.7%, goal was 25%. I stopped paying attention to this as closely. I need to stock up on lean protein sources too.
- Average Fat 26.4%, goal was under 20%. Uhhhh, pretty bad. I need to learn how to "splurge" without going off the deep end on my fat targets.
- Jogging/walking intervals 3x, Weights 2x, Walk 2x. My goal was to do 4 interval workouts, but I just couldn't make myself do it tonight. I'm working even more than usual so that I can take two entire days off in a row.
- Had crazy unusual fatty food cravings. Which I indulged. Can't let this happen with any sort of regularity though.
- Still eating junk food at work...
Next week May 6-12:
- Calories 1500, Protein 25%, Fat under 20%. Really going to focus on eating less fat this week. I'm going to make a double batch of protein bars this week, so I can take 2 per day to work. This should help me get more protein too. Maybe I can keep some protein powder at work too?? Still struggling with the junk food at work as always.
- This is going to be a tough week as far as exercise goes. I'll be working very early tomorrow (Saturday) then driving all day, Sunday & Monday visiting my family in Ohio/driving home, then the rest of the week will be long hours at work while I try to catch up. Given this difficulty, I'm going to focus on my yoga & pilates this week, since I can usually do these even if I am worn out. So 2 long yoga workouts, 2 long pilates workouts, and some sort of walking activity (even if relatively short) every day.
- Other thing to challenge me is the family visit. I will stick to my "social eating" strategy of focusing on the fruits & veggies that are available. Unlimited for these. Then only small bits of anything else. I think I can do it!!

Back from my mini-vacation to lovely grey Ohio. My mom was very surprised to see me. It was so nice to visit with my family but I am worn out from all the socializing and the driving. Plus I returned to find my computer completely inoperable. I'm using my beau's computer right now, so I won't have time to catch up with all of the forums. :(
The results from the weekend were disappointing. I kept thinking of my goal to really focus on keeping down the fat, but the choices were rather slim. I resorted to prepping a tray of crudite vegetables myself while at my sister's on Sunday. Other than that it was cheese & crackers, wings, chips & dip, fat, fat, fat, carbs. I know I have only myself to blame, but it was far more challenging than I anticipated. When someone cooks a breakfast of waffles & sausage for you, what are you supposed to do?!?! I suppose I'm too polite to say anything.
Saturday: 2 protein bars, bites of cake scraps, piece of bread, carrots, McD salad no dressing, luna bar, wheat thins. Total 1600, 26%P, 26%F. Wheat thins are not a healthy road trip snack as I thought.
Sunday: dry waffles, sausage, pineapple, crackers & cheese, crudite & grapes, 2 wings, turkey sandwich, pita chips, luna bar. Total 2100, 20%P, 33%F.
Monday: oatmeal w/ brown sugar, english muffin w/jelly, baked potato with chili & cheese, luna bar, roasted lamb w/rice & peas. Total 1850, 22%P, 21%F.
Tuesday: odwalla protein drink, pineapple, banana, chocolate pudding cup, cookie dough, cottage cheese, giant salad with white beans. Total 1450, 20%P, 19%F. Back to work... in "detox" mode. Ha!
Exercise fell by the wayside, but I'm determined to resume this week - at least a little bit. Will do long yoga session this evening.

I didn't make time to post or to exercise yesterday. A friend was in from out of town, so my living room was not available for pilates dvd as I had planned. Food choices mostly back on target - although I was hoping to make up from some of my mistakes over the weekend. Looks like my averages will be off quite a bit this week. :(
Yesterday, Wednesday: 2 protein bars, bites of brownie, rice and beef, bites of pecan diamond, cottage cheese, small tastes of hummus & falafel. Total 1400, 25%P, 22%F.
Today, Thursday: 2 protein bars, plain yogurt, bites of cookie d'oh, roasted potatoes, cottage cheese, egg white omelet, ww tortilla, large bowl of okra. Total 1300, 29%P, 20%F.
I WILL go to the mini-gym this evening!!!!

Yesterday I worked a very long & tiring day. But I managed to do cardio for 30 minutes anyway. My co-worker made these really yummy sandwiches for lunch, and he melted quite a bit of cheese on top. I was starving, I ate it all.
Yesterday, Friday: 2 protein bars, bites of cookie d'oh, chicken melt sandwich, cottage cheese, big salad with navy beans. Total 1350, 33%P, 27%F.

Once again a long and tiring day yesterday. I'm starting to sound like a broken record - same thing every day. I'm thinking of looking for a new job. Every time I take 2 days off in a row, it takes me a week of exhausting work just to catch back up. Don't even think about taking a 3-day "weekend". I didn't workout yesterday , besides a 20 minute walk.
Yesterday, Saturday: 2 protein bars, cake bits, pineapple, lasagna, almonds, bread, perch, navy beans, carrots. Total 1500, 30%P, 20%F.

Week Review, May13-19:
- Average 1580 calories (goal was 1500). Spending Sunday and Monday visiting my mom and then driving back to DC was not as successful as I'd hoped. I don't want to botch my plan every time something out of the ordinary comes up. I underestimated this challenge.
- Average 25% protein (goal was 25% or higher).
- Average 24% fat (goal was 20% or lower). This was my focus area for the week, and I didn't do so well.
- Yoga 1x, Short Walks 3x, Cardio 2x. Had planned on a light week as far as exercise goes, but this was even lighter than I wanted.
- Overall a rather disappointing week, and the scale says I gained back the two pounds that I had chipped away at over the past few weeks. I'm still hoping it's a fluctuation due to my cycle. It's possible since the calipers haven't budged.
- Taking two homemade protein bars to work every day seemed to help ever so slightly reduce my junk food intake.
Week Plan, May 20-26:
- Averages 1500 calories, >25% protein, <20% fat.
- 5 really good cardio workouts - relatively intense and at least 40 minutes long. This seemed to really boost my moods 2 weeks ago when I managed to do it. I NEED to do this again.
- I'm going to a out-of-town wedding in about 3 weeks. I don't have a formal dress. I plan to go shopping in exactly 2 weeks, and I want to feel really good about my options and how I look.

I took a brief nap after work today, and I feel like I'll have plenty of energy to complete my workout this evening. 40 minutes of cardio - perhaps a run outside before it gets dark out?
For today, Sunday: 2 protein bars, oatmeal cookie, hummus sandwich, piece of homemade veggie pizza, large serving of navy beans, ww tortilla. Total 1500, 22%P, 18%F.

I had the day off yesterday. Woo for me! I went jogging outside, it was beautiful. Somehow I always get nervous when I am planning on exercising outside. I know I push myself harder... it's so easy to slack off on a machine. Set the treadmill pace and then make like a hamster. Not outside though!
For yesterday: melon, egg white omelet, cottage cheese, cup o oatmeal with cacao nibs & almonds, small hummus sandwich, carrot, protein smoothie, tuna white bean sandwich. Total 1600, 28%P, 23%F.

Not so great today. Did pretty good at work, with minimal snacking. But I didn't have very balanced meals. Also trying to work up the energy to go workout. I need to go RIGHT NOW or else I will wimp out... okay, after I type this last little bit. So I can't possibly eat anything else today...
For today: 2 protein bars, piece of bread, honeydew, mini roast beef sandwich, 2 small handmade tortillas, bit of avocado, tuna bean salad, last piece of leftover homemade pizza. Total 1550, 24%P, 21%F.

Thanks for the encouragement, zen! I guess I should be amazed that I'm able to stay in maintenance mode with all of the junk food I snack on at work... yet I decided a few months ago to try to reduce my body fat percentage. This is where the real challenge has been! I'm planning to officially measure at the end of this week - so I'll post latest results (or lack of) then!
YIKES! I forgot my protein bars for breakfast!!! Complete snack mode began immediately. I had small bits of about 8 different things. I lose my focus so easily. I did manage to get motivated to go for a 40 minute jog/walk. So calories are over my goal, but the % are okay and I did exercise. So not the end of the world. Actually I was considering adding one "maintenance" day into my weekly routine - just so that my body doesn't adjust to too low of a calorie intake.
Today: honeydew, piece of chix breast, granola, mini roast beef sandwich, piece of keylime bar , too large (oy!) portion of pasta with chicken breast, piece of a brownie , cottage cheese, homemade potato corn soup with homemade tortillas. Total 1800, 24%P, 14%F.
Off to go running... today is MOTIVATION day!!!
PS - my beau is a classical musician, so he collects classical records. i've learned alot about this genre since dating him, so i can actually appreciate them now. also we have alot of jazz and some old classic rock albums. they'll be more to come, now that we know where joe's record emporium is!!
As far as CDs go, my collection is extremely diverse!
What kind of records do you collect, zen?

For today: 2 protein bars, piece of bread, piece of gouda, pineapple, chicken breast sandwich, rice, sushi, seaweed salad. Total 1750, 27%P, 19%F.
Percentages are okay, but the last two days I have eaten a bit too much. Plus today I didn't exercise as planned. Fell asleep after work, then ate too much sushi. I will workout tomorrow even though I had planned a day 'off'. But can't really make up for much of the extra calories. :(

ah, you will get back on track, you always do! at least you haven't gone over! i think i need to start adding matenance days to my routine. that is a really good idea.
i am a classic rock fan myself. i have a respectable collection of pink floyd, doors, the guess who type music. i have recently started to get into jazz and would like to start looking for old jazz albums. i have been interested in learning more about calssical music; i do have a bit of background for msome courses in high school and college, but yeah, i think i need to hear more to have more appreciation for it. heh- dating musicians is the best! what instrument(s) does he play?
