I did attempt to lower calories a bit yesterday - shooting for 2200 or so.  9pm rolled around and I was just a little too hungry to resist nibbling on the snack my hubby brought home (waffle with nutella on it).  I could have just had a glass of water or tea and went to bed anyway, but I caved.  Bummer.

In addition I've sort of given up on exercise for the time being it seems.  I'm trying very hard to stay at work full-time until the end of May.  It's fairly difficult this week, being sore and crampy during and after work.  Staying hydrated helps a bit, so that "May 1 resolution" has been helpful.  If/When I transition to part-time (June?) work, I hope to be able to swim, etc, again.  For now I'm just trying to walk places when I run errands or it's just nice outside, and this does turn out to be most evenings.

For Wednesday:
prunes, yogurt with blueberries (350)
piece of bread and little bits of chocolate (200)
apple and piece of cheese (200)
grapes (100)
small bowl of rhubarb cobbler and bit of ice cream, staff dessert I made at work (300)
sample of shrimp dish (100)
ww toast with fruit spread (200)
prunes & peanuts (250)
skinny cow sandwich and a bunch of carrots (250)
small bowl of cereal and little protein bar (200)
part of waffle with nutella (250)
TOTAL 2400.  Walked about 30-40 minutes - to the store to pick up a few things.

Oh jeez, I know - I NEVER buy a jar of   :heart:nutella:heart:   to have in the house... I think it would last 3 days maybe!!!

After my mini-rant yesterday about resigning myself to life without good exercise, I was reading some articles and such online.  They were mostly about how easy it is to lose your fitness level without exercise, and how much easier childbirth is for a FIT mother.  SOOOOOOOOO if that wasn't motivation, then I don't know what would have been!  I'll be honest, the thought of an 8 or 9 pound baby scares me (anyone else hope for a petite little 6 1/2 pounder??).  Anything I can do to make this go easier is worth it.  So I got my little bum outside for a brisk walk for 30 minutes.  I was surprised how determined I felt and how good it felt.  At the very least I can do THAT every day!!  YAY!

For Thursday:
prunes and bran cereal with yogurt (300)
half of a croissant with some chicken on it (300)
apple and bite of a brownie (200)
opera torte scraps (150)
chicken breast and small piece of bread (300)
skinny cow ice cream and half of a yogurt (200)
ww tortilla "pie" with lite cheese, black beans, veggies (600)
small serving of rice (100)
coffee with skim milk (100)
TOTAL 2250.  YAY finally felt in control a little more (except for the opera torte really) but was a little hungry when I did go to bed.

So I thought I had done a pretty good job this whole week of keeping my calories reasonable AND managing to stay active (although no intense cardio) despite a full active work schedule.  BUT the scale is just soaring through the roof the past 3 weeks or so, and this week has NOT checked things.  AM I TO GAIN OVER 40 POUNDS DESPITE ALL MY EFFORTS?!?!  I think I've gained 6 or so in the past three weeks. :crying: None of my maternity clothes even look good anymore.  My hubby is so nice - he suggested I buy a couple of new things if it would make me feel less self-concious.  Feels a bit wasteful and vain though since I'll only have to wait another 6 weeks or so.

For Friday:
prunes and protein bar (250)
piece of bread (150)
a few pieces of candy and a few berries (100)
beef stroganoff, free lunch at work (600)
scraps of opera cake, FELT OUT OF CONTROL  (300)
lowfat enchilada bake (500)
TOTAL 1900.  Did yoga for 45 minutes, but felt sick afterwords.  I think I mistakenly took 2 vitamins this day?!?

For Saturday:
decaf coffee with skim milk (150)
berries with cereal (300)
part of a breadstick and part of a cinn roll (200)
1 piece of pizza and a bowl of salad (450)
lowfat ice cream (300)
prunes and orange juice (150)
lowfat lasagna bake (400)
turkey sandwich (350)
TOTAL 2300.  Was a very busy day at work, worked extra long.  Spent the evening recovering and spending time with my sister.

Still feel pretty upset about my recent fast weight gain, but I'm trying to be okay with it.  I'm sure it's motivating me to be more in control of my eating than I otherwise would be.  And I should be able to get in longer and better workouts this week, since work should not be as busy/tiring.

For Sunday:
coffee with skim milk (100)
scraps of bread (200)
prunes and yogurt with berries (250)
baked potato with cheese & turkey (500)
jumbo soft pretzel at the baseball game (300)
skinny cow ice cream (150)
peanut butter sandwich (500)
another big spoon of pb, probably not the best choice (200)
TOTAL 2200.  Worked a full shift at work.  Walked downtown for about 45 minutes or so, it was very nice outside!:sun:

Trim,

My SIL and I gave a baby shower yesterday for our nephew's wife.    She was also complaining about her maternity clothes not fitting well anymore:sad:    However, she is not due until August 4...........and looks about 9 months along.   That's to be expected though, she is carrying twin boys:shock::shock:    She's already got about 6 lbs of actual baby, between the two!   She is looking uncomfortable already...........can't imagine what it will be like if she manages to hold on to early/mid-July.

WOW  thanks for the perspective hisgal!  That definitely made me feel like I don't have it so bad after all (although I'm sorry it's at the expense of your niece-in-law's comfort!).

I had a routine doctor's appt yesterday afternoon, but it turned out to be not so routine after all.  Without going into all the gory details, they saw a couple of signs of early labor.  She did more monitoring to confirm, and now I am on bedrest.  No work for 2 weeks, stay at home, mostly in laying down.  She says I must have overdid it lately, which might be true.  Good news is the baby is doing just fine, only that my body wants to evict him too early.  Two more weeks and it would be not too bad at all if I went into labor anyway.  Let's just say I'm still in shock about all of this news!!

For Monday:
decaf with skim milk (150)
protein bar (200)
cereal with berries (200)
grapefruit (100)
bowl of cut up veggies with lite dip (150)
piece of cheese (100)
pb sandwich, small this time (300)
decaf with skim milk, kinda on the big side (200)
chicken soup with crackers (350)
big spoon of pb, maybe I can't buy pb anymore?!?! (200)
turkey sandwich and prunes (400)
TOTAL 2350.  I worked a half day in the morning, went on a 30 minute walk after that (before the doctor).  Can't decide what new "completely inactive" calorie target should be... 1800 maybe??  I'll probably need a day or two to ratchet down to that level.  I've gotten used to eating ALOT, or at least very often.

Day One of bedrest was boring as predicted.  I really wanted to walk a few blocks to get the newspaper, or take a quick drive to pick something up at the store, or SOMETHING!  But I had to content myself with reading and DVDs and a couple of very light chores.  The good news is that all those contractions I was having REALLY slowed down.

For Tuesday:
bran cereal and yogurt (300)
pb sandwich (300)
cut up veggies with dip (150)
piece of cheese and little cup of milk (150)
homemade veggie pizza (700)
cup of milk (100)
apple and some air popcorn (200)

TOTAL 1900.  I'm a little shocked I was able to do so well with keeping calories lower than I'm used to.  But really they should still be a bit lower.  TODAY may be a different story though... I had to drop off hubby at work at 4am, and I can't go back to sleep.  I agreed to wait at my sister's house for a repair man this morning, so I needed the car.

Excitement for yesterday was spending 4 hours on my sister's couch instead of my own in order to wait for a repair man.  Well, he never showed (bummer for her), but it was nice to get out of my apartment.

I did not eat very well in the first half of the day... not particularly quantity, but poor quality.  I realized this midday and ate more veggies and protein at that point.  So I'm fairly happy with that.
For Wednesday:
yogurt and spoon of pb (200)
bagel and decaf (450)
half of a portion of light ice cream and a little glass of lemonade (200)
few pretzels and graham crackers (200)
bowl of salad (100)
coffee with skim milk and bit of cocoa mix (150)
big chicken breast and steamed veggies (450)
half of a melon (100)
TOTAL 1850.

Much more excitement today, but I feel like I'm still processing it all... will post tomorrow of course!

Yesterday was a complete debacle on all accounts.  I'll try to keep this brief, because I feel like I'm justifying my actions (as far as what I ate goes).

I woke up at 1am with some more fun labor issues, that quickly seemed a little serious and concerning.  At 4am, the nurse hotline advised me to go to the hospital to be checked.  I was afraid of making the trip unnecessarily (I'm pretty sure I have to pay 20% of the cost of this visit), but it turns out they were glad I did.  They gave me some shots to halt my early labor, and monitored me until 11am.  I was STARVING!!! :chewing: My hubby had gotten me a granola bar sometime in the morning, but I was still very hungry.  Plus the high dosages of the shots made me feel pretty high.  So I decided to have a COMPLETE splurge meal at the local diner for breakfast/lunch.
The rest of the day was pretty normal, except that I have to be even MORE strict with the whole bedrest thing and keep taking low doses of medicine every 6 hours or so (I generally stay away from medicating myself, so this is making me a bit disturbed ).

Anyway, at first I was not going to report for this day... but hey, it's my diary of shame today!
For Thursday:
granola bar (200)
little glass of juice (100)
veggie omelet (300)
3!!!!! biscuits (600)
cantaloupe and small pb sandwich (400)
piece of cheese (100)
ww pita, hummus, and slices of cucumber and tomato (450)
TOTAL 2150, maybe higher really??  REALLY high considering that I literally layed around all day.  I never really realized how active I was before.  My activity level on Tuesday and Wednesday was MUCH MUCH reduced from normal (if only because I wasn't working those days)... yet I was STILL doing too much apparently.  So now I'm basically doing nothing, and I can FEEL my body atrophying!  I'm trying to think of it as a good challenge for me to get back into shape later.

I did not do a very good job of managing calorie intake yesterday either.  So that's two days in a row with what I would consider to be really high calories for my activity level.  YET the scale has not budged (not so far at least).  So now I'm a bit curious what would happen if I continued eating at that level every day.  But deep down I FEEL that I'm eating too much, or at least not smart (ie nutritionally dense) enough.

For Friday:
bran cereal with skim milk (200)
toast with pb (200)
big baked potato with slice of cheese and diced turkey (600)
bowl of salad (150)
little pb sandwich (250)
chicken breast and steamed veggies (450)
small bowl of ice cream, but it was the REAL deal! (250)
TOTAL 2100.

Ice cream is totally a weakness lately!  :cone:

My sister and her hubby came over during the day yesterday and kept me company for a few hours.  I had an envelope-stuffing project to work on for a friend too (she's even going to pay me... I'm earning money woo hoo!).  AND my own hubby actually had the evening free.  He's been working lots extra lately since I'm not making any money.

Weight still holding steady, despite NO exercise or even activity.  Wierd.  Calorie total was okay yesterday but made a few mediocre choices.  I'm ok with that, otherwise I think I feel deprived and bored.
For Saturday:
banana and yogurt and coffee with skim milk (300)
bagel, ate half then the other half a few hours later (400)
mixed fruit cubes, hummus with ww pita, small pb sandwich (600)
piece of lemon poppy bread (150)
small chicken breast (200)
miso soup with veggies and a few noodles added (150)
TOTAL 1800.

A little out of the ordinary day yesterday - and man oh man did my total calories end up being really high!  I ventured out for the 3 block walk to the movie theatre to see a movie with my hubby, sister, and bro-in-law.  Other than that it was a restful day again   Ho hum!

For Sunday:
piece of lemon poppy bread and banana (300)
small bit of leftover chix breast (150)
grapefruit and prunes (150)
black beans & rice with some tortilla chips (600)
dinner with fam: bread, ww pasta with some cheesy sauce, homemade lemonade (750)
small piece of nectarine tart, had a rich filling (250)
TOTAL 2300.

Why must hubby be such a good cook?  Argh!  All was going very well yesterday until he made this super-yummy dinner :yum:- of which I had a very large portion.  Boy do I get greedy when it comes to good food!:pig:

We took a very brief walk again yesterday, probably illegal according to bedrest rules.  Just 3 blocks or so to the bookstore for a cup of coffee and to sit and read for a bit NOT on the couch.  But it was nice to get out for a bit.:coffee::sun:

Couldn't sleep this morning.  I have a doctor's appt a little later, and I'm curious to know if she's going to advise 1 more week of bedrest or 2 more weeks.  I've heard conflicting reports.  1 more week seems totally do-able.  ALTHOUGH in a forum-related issue... I'm VERY PARANOID :skull:about losing muscle mass.  How fast can this happen?  I tend to be able to gain lean muscle mass quickly, and I suspect that I lose it quickly too.  This makes me sad.

For Monday:
banana and prunes (150)
yogurt and big bowl of cereal (400)
decaf latte with skim milk (200)
small portion of leftover pasta dish (350)
skinny cow treat (150)
tofu fried rice, big portion (800)
TOTAL 2050.  Whoa, scarily high!  I guess one out-of-control meal is enough to botch the whole day!

I think atrophy due to a lay-off is probably in months rather than weeks, though you may be lifting slightly lower weights when you return to lifting.

Fast gains are usually related to being a relative 'beginner' - once you've been weight-training for a while, those are rare.

Thanks for the quick reply, Nir!  I guess I accidentally revealed that I'm not a very dedicated weight-lifter or strength trainer, whatever you want to call it.  OOOPS, kinda embarassed!  That would explain why whenever I do give it a fair shot I tend to tone pretty quickly.

In any event, that is reassuring info.  The doctor reported I actually lost a pound this past week, and I hope that means it is not muscle.  Maybe I had been retaining water all along??  All in all, I've gained about 33 pounds in 35 weeks, whew!  That's still barely within the recommended range of 25-35.
PLUS I just found out that I can go back to work and stop being on bedrest in a week, woooo hoooo!!  Very happy about that.  I think a week somehow seems like much less of an eternity than two weeks.

Weight is still officially 2 1/2 pounds down from where it peaked about 10 days ago.  Unfortuneately, I seem to be using this as license to eat whatever I want.  Some junk here and there and TOO much quantity for sure.  I figure it will probably catch up with me at some point... so I would like to get a handle on it ASAP.  Today would be a good day because being alone helps my focus.

For Tuesday:
part of leftover nectarine tart (200)
yogurt and cereal mixed in and prunes (300)
black beans and rice with a bit of cheese and chips (600)
frozen yogurt and glass of homemade lemonade (300)
small bit of hummus and crackers and another glass of lemonade (300)
big mushroom and cheese sandwich from deli (600)
TOTAL 2300.  Should NOT have any lemonade today.  Who would have known that homemade is so tasty?!?!?

Managed a much more reasonable day yesterday, although this morning my scale had jumped down ANOTHER 2 pounds!  Of course, it could be just fluctuating.  But I will have to keep an eye on it and see what happens.
I did read something yesterday that said 3rd trimester needs about 2400 calories UNLESS physically inactive (which is how I would qualify myself right now).  So does that mean 2000 calories?  And how could that possibly be right for all womens' body sizes?  But then I've also read that a few pounds of weight loss is not abnormal for the last month.  Sometimes I think if you read enough sources you can find every single theory possible expressed.

For Wednesday:
banana, prunes (150)
egg beaters, WOW low calorie! (50)
yogurt and cereal (200)
leftover fried rice with tofu (300)
frozen yogurt (200)
chicken breast sandwich on wheat (400)
a few tortilla chips and an apple (250)
bowl of salad with extra cut up veggies and dressing (200)
spoon of pb (100)
TOTAL 1850.  Much more reasonable for a house-bound day.  Only 6 more days!!!!

I cheated on my bed rest yesterday.  I needed to go to the post office, bank, and target (new printer using gift cards, yay!) - and my hubby needed to stop back at work for an hour or two.  So I went with him... boy has the place gotten less organized since I have been gone!!!  (He works part-time helping my department out occasionally, and alot since I've been gone.)  I couldn't stop myself from doing a bit of cleaning and such and then helping him so we could leave faster.  And just running the errands themselves was probably "illegal".

Anyway, scale has fluctuated back up to its -2 pounds from peak weight (yesterday was -4), so I guess it was just a fluke yesterday.  I've noticed that my appetite is MUCH MUCH reduced lately.  I'm wondering if my body is realizing how sedentary I've become?  My other theory is that all the water I'm drinking is better cueing me in to actual hunger.  Was I eating food when really thirsty before this??  Hmmmm well it's a thought at least!

For Thursday:
bran cereal and banana (300)
prunes and small pb sandwich (350)
frozen yogurt (200)
handful of cereal, handful of tortilla chips, some lemonade (250)
chicken breast sandwich (400)
bowl of soup with a few crackers, added lots of extra veggies to canned soup, YUM! (250)
yogurt (150)
TOTAL 1900.

After my bedrest-cheat on Thursday went fine, I guess I got bold and kind of cheated yesterday too.  Nothing too exciting, just cleaning around the apt that I had been meaning to do.  Plus my co-worker asked me to stop by work this morning to help her a bit with her first wedding cake.

Weight is fairly steady this week around 159.  That's 32 pounds gained total at week 35.  I'm pretty happy with that.
For Friday:
cereal and prunes (300)
piece of cheese and bowl of leftover veggie soup (250)
spoon of pb and a chicken sandwich (500)
skinny cow ice cream (150)
grapefruit and a few tortilla chips (250)
ww pasta bake with veggies and chix breast (500)
apple (100)
TOTAL 2050.  Felt unusually munchie before noon, so I kind of indulged that feeling a bit.  I'm surprised I didn't end up higher, because I was really craving something sweet and junky in the evening too.  I had an apple sprinkled with cinnamon instead. :apple:

Weekend went by fast!  Saturday consisted of accidentally working for 6 hours (was meant just to go in to help with a wedding cake), then rest, then dinner at my sister's with vast overeating.  Sunday worked again just for a half day, then all day at Lamaze class, rest in the evening.  So yeah, you could say I'm cheating on my bed-rest BIG time!
But the last official day is Tuesday anyway, and I feel pretty good.  Like my body has been "re-set" as to what is an appropriate amount of activity for me and when to stop and rest.  But I can already see that it won't take very many days after Tuesday for me to ramp back up to over-activity again.  I really need to clean more and do errands and I can't wait to do some lite yoga!

For Saturday:
yogurt with cereal and prunes (300)
fresh pineapple juice and a croissant (400)
mini pb sandwich (250)
leftover pasta and skinny cow (600)
cheese and crackers (200)
rice and chicken enchiladas at my sisters, did not seem healthily prepared (700)
1 smore (150)
TOTAL 2600.  High considering I worked all morning this day but not much other activity.  Felt alot more hungry than usual though.

For Sunday:
decaf latte with <gasp> whole milk (200)
leftover broiche, bad choice (300)
bites of a cinn roll (100)
an oatmeal cookie, really on a roll now! (100)
piece of cheese (100)
packed lunch during class, sandwich & fruit & chips & raisins (800)
salad with falafel balls (500)
TOTAL 2100.  Felt reasonable, although pigged out on junk food for "breakfast".

Weight still seems steady at 159.

Worked for a few hours in the morning yesterday, then getting the oil changed in my car took about 2 hours!!  Usually they are very fast, but I guess Monday mornings are when everyone else goes too.  I was pretty pooped by about 1pm!  Had some other things to do in the evening, but didn't get any of them done because I fell asleep early.  Now I have LOTS to do today to catch up!

For Monday:
yogurt, cereal, prunes (250)
protein bar (200)
tortilla chips & chix breast sandwich (550)
skinny cow treat (150)
cheese pizza (600)
TOTAL 1850.

Ah it's so hard to pull back and NOT get things done.  But yes, you are right fruitloop.
I had another doctor's appointment yesterday afternoon... I am starting to dread these things.  I haven't gained weight in 2-3 weeks, which may be fine or may not be so good.  My hubby convinced me to eat a hamburger for dinner after all of this news.  HAHA!  It didn't take much convincing.

For Tuesday:
prunes and some dry cereal (200)
lots of strawberries and yogurt (250)
piece of cheese and part of a unfilled cream puff (250)
skinny cow (150)
leftover ww pasta with chix and a handful of chips (600)
piece of chocolate with a marshmallow (150)
burger and some of hubby's fries (800)
TOTAL 2400.  I did work about 6 hours and had an active day, so I guess that isn't so horrible.  Quality of my choices are kinda sad though.

Worked only about 4 or 5 hours yesterday, but then ran several errands in the afternoon.  Yet another doctor's appt too... I'm starting to feel very poked and prodded!  I think next one isn't until Tuesday, so that's good.  Still have a bit of cleaning to do around the apt, but I'm feeling more caught up.  Work, on the other hand, is another issue... one that I just have to draw the line and walk away from despite wanting to do more.

For Wednesday:
prunes and pineapple chunks (100)
<ahem> donut <ahem> and skim decaf latte (500)
corn muffin my hubby made at home and grapefruit (250)
yogurt and cereal (200)
chicken sandwich (400)
tortilla chips and soup (400)
piece of another muffin (100)
cheese and crackers (300)
TOTAL 2250.  What a dismal day as far as protein goes.  Calories felt appropriate for my activity level.
Could it be that I am learning to trust my body a little more to adjust my intake for what I need?  I've improved, that's for sure... but I know my protein and fruits/veggies always suffer.

Same old, same old.  Worked for a few hours yesterday, then rested and did some things around the apt.  Hubby made me chicken and veggie curry (one of my favs!) for dinner.  I'm pretty much eating whenever I want, trying to stay reasonably healthy (although I admit sometimes I do a poor job), but still estimating total calories.  Mostly because I'm curious where I'm at and how much of a reduction I'll need later in order to shed the weight I've gained.

For Thursday:
prunes and yogurt and cereal (250)
banana and a bite or two of opera torte (200)
leftover corn muffin and more cereal (250)
too many graham crackers (400)
egg beaters with some cheese (250)
chicken and veggie curry with some rice (650)
fruit ice bar and piece of toast (200)
TOTAL 2200.  Felt like I ate all day.

I guess I needed a break from calorie counting, too.  I did record/track on Friday... total was low for my activity that day, something like 1900 cals.  Then I for some reason decided not to track Saturday or Sunday.  Saturday started out being lazy then realized it was going to be a high day due to fun mini-dinner party we had at my apt.  Sunday was probably low because I just really didn't feel like eating dinner when the time rolled around.  So I'm guessing that low days on Fri & Sun evened out my high day on Saturday.

Weight is still the same as it was a few weeks ago.  I'm hoping that's not a bad sign for my doctor's appt tomorrow afternoon.  Last week's appt was troublesome because they told me baby was possibly not growing properly.  Had ultrasound the next day to confirm and get more info... so hoping the doctor will interpret the findings for me.  Nervous and worried, but trying not to think about it too much.

Hey Trim,

Just wanted to drop in and say hi. Glad you're doing good. Wow, 23 days. I know that has to be nerve-wracking! It's so so inspiring that you are still trying to eat right with all the stress this must cause. Keep it up!

Have a good afternoon!

Thanks CG!  Glad to hear from people who are still around!   I guess I never mentioned that exercise has gone out the window due to legitimate medical reasons.  So the least I can do is try not to stuff myself with junk all the time.  Ahem... and now to post for yesterday, ugh.

For Monday:
yogurt, prunes (150)
banana and bites of a brownie (200)
croissant (350) BAAAD
homemade veggie chili and bread (450)
fruit popsicle (100)
apple and prunes (150)
piece of cheese and some dry cereal (200)
bowl of nice salad and homemade pizza (700)
TOTAL 2200.  I'm glad I recorded this day because I KNOW I would have been snacking on junkier stuff if I wasn't.  I guess the only serious misstep in my opinion was the croissant I had while at work.  It was a busy stressful day and I just grabbed the first thing I saw and ate quickly.  Would have been better to wait and eat something healthy later.  I never feel too bad about eating homemade pizza, because at least I know exactly how much of fatty things go into it (minimal).

Yesterday was a very interesting day indeed.  I kind of blew it for breakfast as far as junk food goes, but other than that it wasn't too horrible of a day.
Doctor recommends kick-starting labor in the next two days, but I may not need to much help cause things are kick-starting by themselves!  Test results show baby seems to be doing okay, but isn't getting quite enough nutrition (probably a placenta problem).  I'm also paranoid that maybe it's because I don't eat enough protein.  I'll post more when I have any news!  :caution:

For Tuesday:
big odwalla juice smoothie and half of a scone (500)
poached eggs, potatoes & veggies, grapes (450)
veggie chili (300)
prunes (100)
leftover pumpkin flan (250)
apple and small cup of juice (200)
half of a big turkey pesto sandwich and cup of soup (500)
TOTAL 2300.

Hi Trim...wow!  I try to do a little catching up on diaries this evening and find you may have been labor-induced?  That'll teach me to not take another break from here.  I am praying for you and lil Trim and that everything is ok.  I'm sure you'll let us know when you're able.  Take care!!!:rose:

Thanks to ALL my buddies!!   Yes, Theo was about 3 weeks early but healthy.  Only a little bit of normal-type jaundice which is clearing up now.  Things went pretty smoothly for me too.  Only a few days of spinal headache as a side effect of the pain medicine.  Luckily my mom was in town to take care of me and baby while I was recovering from those, and Mr Trim didn't hesitate to jump right in too.

I'm giving myself at least a few more days of eating whatever I want, then I suppose I'll be impatient to fit back into my jeans.  Then I'll be back here in full force I expect!  But will have to be slow and responsible progress since I'm also feeding Theo.  Can't wait to catch up on everyone's diaries...

Pre-baby stats: about 125-130 pounds and 20-22% body fat
As of this morning: 148 pounds, 33% body fat (assuming calipers are accurate at this point), 31.5" waist, 36.5" belly button, 39.5" hips.

Hi Trim - I'm so happy to hear you & Theo are all fine...happy & healthy!  Take it slow; I know you're going to be chompin' at the bit to fit into your jeans right away...but wow - 148 pounds!  You did a great job in managing your weight!!:shooting_star:

Weight this morning was 146.  Approximately 20 pounds to go!

Today so far I have been recording what I am eating, but not necessarily aiming for any particular number yet.  I'm actually really curious to see how much I end up eating without any specific target... then seeing if I am able to lose weight at that (I'm assuming) relatively high calorie level.  I guess for now I feel patient enough to lose weight while eating as much as possible!  If I restrict too much too soon, then I may end up having to maintain that low calorie level longer than I want.

Exercise (even walks) has to wait at least another week or two.

Here's what I ate yesterday:
special k cereal with skim milk (270)
applesauce and yogurt (230)
protein bar (180)
graham crackers & cheese (320)
banana and skinny cow ice cream (220)
steamed veggies and small pb sandwich (350)
apple and more graham crackers (330)
grilled veggie plate and piece of cheese (340)
TOTAL 2230.

So apparently left to my own devices I will eat too many calories.  And a few too many relatively empty calories.  I don't usually keep things like graham crackers around the house because I tend to go WAY overboard with them.  I had bought them for when my sister and her 2 year old were visiting last week.  They're gone now.

I really would like to do a daily protein/fat/carb breakdown like I used to do every day months ago in my diary.  It's just so time consuming!  I think I will start doing it anyway in a few days when I finish this "evaluation" phase and really get serious.  It is very helpful for me to focus on eating more protein and less fat.

Plus I'm starting to formulate some sort of goals in my mind.  My step-sister is getting married in early September, so it might be a nice date to shoot for some sort of goal.  That gives me all of July and August, and I think I should be able to lose at least 10 pounds.  That would be, very roughly, a 500 calorie deficit per day.  More later!!!

Okay so I quickly came up with some more numbers...

Calipers this morning show 31.5% body fat.  So I am 100# lean and 46# fat, wow!  So my goal of losing 20# (assuming I lose all/mostly fat) will put me right about my other goal of 20% body fat.  So that's good.

Apparently breastfeeding uses up roughly 500 calories per day.  So that could theoretically be my deficit right there.  But on the down side, I'm sure I'm sedentary at best for the time being.  So my adjusted RMR is 1720 at current weight.  Just need to slowly inch down to that calorie level over the next few days...

Thanks Zen!  I'm feeling better and better every day.  Less like an invalid and more like a capable mom.  Theo is still getting light treatment for his mild case of jaundice (ie he lays on a light blanket all day) and going to the doctor most days to get his blood checked.  Things will really be GREAT when all of this comes to an end... I'm hoping maybe by Tuesday or so.

As for calories yesterday - made good choices except dinner was a bit of a splurge.  Homemade veggie pizza.  Lots of veggies, low fat mozz cheese, but a thick homemade bread crust.  So fat was probably good but heavy on the carbs.  Total was 100 calories lower than yesterday... baby steps!  Now if I can just get down another 100 calories today!
special k with skim milk (270)
yogurt (170)
protein bar (180)
turkey sandwich (350)
skinny cow ice cream and baby carrots with lite ranch (240)
applesauce and piece of cheese (170)
homemade veggie pizza (750)
TOTAL 2130.  Weight was 145 this morning.

Yet another day of inching my calories down yesterday.  I'm really liking this gradual approach.  I could even inch down slower, I guess... but I am (as I predicted) getting anxious to wear my old clothes again.  I'm sick of elastic waistbands!!!! :nono:

For Sunday:
yogurt (180)
toast & 10 grain cereal (300)
half of a egg croissant sandwich (350)
grapefruit, piece of cheese, spoon of pb (310)
bowl of soup with extra veggies added (250)
protein bar, piece of cheese (270)
two eggplant rolls filled with ricotta (350)
TOTAL 2010.  Scale says 145 this morning.
