For yesterday, Saturday:
a couple of prunes - 5:30am
turkey sandwich - 6:30am
cake bite & some grapes - 9am
apple and melon chunks - 10am
tortilla chips and slice of cheese - noon
seven grain pilaf - 2pm
dinner at my sister's house (egg drop soup, pad thai noodles) - 6pm
piece of bread with pb - 9pm
About 2300 total. Did cardio for about 30 minutes, but it was kinda halfhearted as I didn't feel very energetic. I figured I could at least go and do SOMETHING, but it didn't feel like much. Dinner was large, but ironically I felt shaky three hours later. More carbs than I would have had left to my own devices. I usually balance out the pad thai noodles with lots of veggies.
Scale was back down to the same weight I've been at for 2 weeks now! Hence today I am on another non-calorie tracking "off" day.

Yesterday was another non-counting day (AND did not workout ), as I was still a little concerned about not gaining any weight for two weeks. How ironic that a month ago I was so concerned about gaining too much... I guess it's a fine line. Anyway, I'm back on track today, and even made it to the gym for a great workout.
But I have to report my disappointment when I recalled how half-hearted almost all my workouts were last week.
- Monday, yoga for 30 minutes instead of the planned 45
- Tuesday, NOTHING
- Wednesday, cardio for 30 minutes on steep incline treadmill walking... could have been better
- Thursday, NOTHING
- Friday, cardio for 45 minutes on the elliptical... my only good workout of the week
- Saturday, cardio for 30 minutes on a stationary bike... I rarely use this equipment because I find it doesn't get my heart rate up as well, but it was the only thing available
- Sunday, NOTHING
Vow to do better this week!!

Recorded and counted was I was eating yesterday, but didn't restrict myself so much. I ended up at 2200-2300 calories. This is probably about right on a day when I work a full-shift on my feet AND have a good cardio session (yay!). Supposedly I need roughly 300 calories more than "normal" now that I am in the second trimester. Belly is definitely poking out a bit, but no one seems to notice. I guess with clothes on it just looks like I put on some extra weight. About 8-9 pounds so far.
Yesterday, Monday:
couple of prunes - 4am
turkey sandwich - 6am
grapes - 8am
big bowl of cereal with milk - 9am
fat free yogurt - 11am
scrambled egg with avocado and sprouted tortilla - 1pm
sinful hashbrowns - 1pm
fat free frozen yogurt - 4pm
leftover airpopped popcorn - 5pm
big salad with lots of veggies! - 6pm
leftover indian lentils and rice - 7:30pm

Yep! I'm not quite 16 weeks, which is 40% of the way there.... scary!!
Some catching up to do - Tuesday was a rough day. Was feeling pretty poor for much of the day, and actually got sick once in the afternoon. I didn't even attempt to make it to the gym. I ate:
a couple of prunes and some melon chunks - 4am
roasted eggplant sandwich - 5am
grapes - 7am
trimmings from some caramel at work - 8am
apple with cheese slice - 10am
leftover indian lentils with some rice - noon
veggie crudite and a piece of cheese - 3pm
dinner cooked by my beau: salad, mushrooms stuffed with tvp, ww pasta with shrimp - 7pm
Total was about 2250 or so. I'd say fairly appropriate.
Yesterday (Wednesday) was feeling much much better and squeezed in 40 minutes of cardio at the gym despite running errands all afternoon. Felt very good about that. I ate:
a couple of prunes - 5:30am
piece of bread - 6:30am
bowl of cereal with milk - 8am
turkey sandwich - 9:30am
free meal at work: leftover potatoes and leftover rice with veggies - 12:30pm
plain yogurt with strawberries - 3pm
bowl of salad and can of lentil veggie soup - 5pm
giant piece of leftover strawberry shortcake that I somehow managed to resist yesterday
Total was about 2100 before the leftover cake incident happened. The rest of the day was fairly on track, so I'm mad at myself about that. I guess it was at least 400 calories!!

Just caught up on all the great progress so many of my fellow diarists are making. <Sigh>. It definitely is inspiring and sets the bar high. But on the other hand, it does make me feel pretty guilty about some of my food choices lately.
For yesterday, Thursday:
a couple of prunes - 7am
bowl of 10 grain oatmeal with nonfat yogurt - 8:30am
veggie crudite and grain tortilla with mozz cheese - 11am
baked potato with tvp "taco meat" (yum!) - 1pm
more of leftover strawberry cake - 3pm
apple with a bit of pb - 4:30pm
dinner at home with my beau: brown rice, black beans, fried plaintains - 7pm
Yesterday was another "feeling kinda bad" day, off and on. Did not make it to the gym. There was a period of time in the evening when I felt well enough to go, but I did not. Disappointed with my willpower. So far, so good today... so I will be able to make it for a good workout!

Made it to the gym yesterday for a fairly intense 40 minutes of cardio. Plus managed to get in some variety with a 30 minute Turbo Jam DVD today. I'm thinking tomorrow I can get in some yoga and strength training, and then I'll have a pretty well balanced week for me as far as workouts go.
For yesterday, Friday:
A piece of toast - 5:30am
roasted eggplant sandwich - 6:30am
kashi cereal with milk - 9am
roll with piece of cheese - noon
went out for pizza lunch, 2 pieces - 1:30pm
celery sticks - 4:30pm
leftover brown rice & black beans - 6:30pm
apple and plain yogurt - 8pm
I felt very hungry yesterday. I didn't want to have that last snack, but my stomach was just growling. Ended up at about 2400 calories total.
On the plus side, I think I no longer need that "first thing when I wake up" mini snack. I skipped it today and felt just fine.

On the bad side, yesterday I ate alot of starchy foods. On the good side, my total calories were much more manageable... about 2100. I did do a Turbo Jam DVD for 30 minutes. And then ended up walking around downtown (VERY briskly because we were late for a friend's play) for at least 30 minutes. I'm kinda beat today!
Saturday:
roasted eggplant sandwich - 6am
banana - 8am
bites of a madeliene - 9am
leftover rice with veggies - 11am
pbj sandwich - 3pm
homemade veggie pizza with tvp topping - 6pm
piece of toast - 11pm
Official report is 10 pounds gained total at week 16. At this rate, I project I'll gain 30 pounds total. That is right in the middle of the recommended 25-35. I'll probably have 15 pounds or so to lose after recouperating?!? So maybe next thanksgiving or christmas will end up being "goal" dates for me. I know, I'm thinking way ahead. But this tends to keep me motivated.

Mostly good choices yesterday, but the football-Sunday-playoff related snacks were apparently not resistable (by me at least) in the evening. Since I basically got in two workouts on Saturday, I felt justified to take the day off from working out. Did some cleaning and spent much of the day with my sister. No work and it was a very nice day. I ate:
plain yogurt with some granola
veggie fritatta (great recipe to sneak in loads of veggies!)
homemade cheddar scone with ham (yum! but a starchy splurge)
banana
small bit of leftover brown rice & tvp taco meat
piece of leftover veggie pizza
greek salad (with a little too much dressing)
tortilla chips with salsa verde (d'oh!)
2 chocolate kisses
I estimate about 2200-2300. A little too high I think for a day with no exercise and no work.
Actually writing down what I am eating helps immensely... then I can't forget about things conveniently. Already planning for super bowl sunday - maybe try hisgal's veggie chili recipe??? Need something "festive" besides naughty snack foods!

Yesterday ate WAY too much (even woke up at 4am feeling ravenous). I've slowly gotten less disciplined about eating SMALL snacks often, and it shows. This might not be rational, but I just FEEL flabby today. I have a feeling that some of you might know what I am talking about. I ate:
piece of toast, pineapple chunks
small bit of leftover pasta
plain yogurt with raspberries
bite of a lemon bar
apple with piece of cheese
small bit of leftover brown rice with tvp taco meat
grain tortilla with cheese
tater tots (I begged my beau not to buy these, no willpower!!)
pbj sandwich
bunch of steamed carrots
bowl of kashi cereal
About 2400 total, maybe a bit more. YIKES!!! I have to go to the doctor in two weeks and I do NOT want to be embarassed when I step on that scale. The only positive note is that I made it to the gym for a 40 minute cardio session.
I've amazingly spent $200 on groceries so far this month (there's only 2 of us!!), and we're getting low again. I desparately want to stock up on salad fixins, but I'm also trying to save money so I can pay my upcoming hospital bills. What a horrible dilemma!!

Yesterday I did alot of little nibbling early in the day (while at work) and then tapered off a BIT for a total of about 2200 calories. Should be a little less considering that I did not workout. I REALLY had planned to, but I ran an errand in the evening that took twice as long as I expected. ERR! I ate:
a piece of toast and 2 pieces of chix sausage
grapes and a bite of a cinnamon roll
bites of potato and green bean "salad"
a chicken breast
bites of banana pudding
homemade pizza with skim mozz and veggies
banana
chicken and veggie coconut curry (one of my favs!!)
Vow to do better today (so far, so good)!!

Did better yesterday with reasonable amounts of calories, which was 2100 considering that I did not exercise yet again. It was just one of those days when everything went wrong, and I barely got a chance to sit down before I collapsed into bed. Very busy this week with trying to get some things arranged for upcoming wedding and also taking a trip to Chicago (tomorrow!!!) to visit my dad. I ate:
cup of oatmeal
piece of bread
plain yogurt with raspberries
chicken pot pie (free lunch at work)
bites of cheesecake
small portion of leftover curry chix
grilled cheese
big salad
half of an apple
Was another very hectic day today... off to my sister's house now to try to print some nice invites on her spiffy printer. I ordered some cute and trendy card-stock online, but now comes the hard part. I'm glad I'm not trying to do anything formal, because it's so hard to do this while saving money for hospital bills. So far no one has offered to chip in

Hey girl,
Just checkin' in with ya. There was a show on the other night and of course, I don't really remember the name. .. uh.. Ace of Cakes or something. ANYwho... I hate fondant (or whatever it's called) so it's safe for me to watch. This guy is AAAAMAZING. He can make a cake look like ANYTHING. A Scottish Yak for instance.. with horns and shaggy hair and everything. WOW It reminded me of you... um.. not the yak.. the show.

Awww thanks for thinking of me guys! Yes, I agree fondant looks fabulous but tastes gross. Fondant, by the way, is like a sugar-paste with the consistency of play-doh. You can mold it into anything while it is moist, but it dries out fairly quickly and turns hard and kinda crusty. My pastry philosophy is that something should taste good AND look good, so I don't get too involved in those crazy artistic creations. Don't even have a TV to watch those shows.
The trip to Chicago was so much fun. Last week was uncharacteristically busy for me, at least in terms of making it really difficult to squeeze in exercise. I had one good cardio workout last Monday, and then nothing until several mile long BRISK walks in downtown Chicago. At least 45 minutes of walking overall, and FAST trying to keep up with my dad. I was holding my belly cause it kinda hurt from all that speed walking!
I did not track my food, since it was sort of "take what I can get" being a guest and all. I've been out of prunes for a week or two, and my body can feel it. I'm curious if that's the reason why my weight has been fluctuating so funny. Well to be honest, it keeps jumping up VERY fast and I'm really nervous about it. Sure I had two pieces of pizza one night, but COME ON this is ridiculous! I hope to get everything "back to normal" over the course of this week.
Great 45 minute cardio workout at the gym today. I kinda wanted to do weights too, but I'm a little nervous about straining or stretching something. No excuse really, I just need to do light weights and go slow. <Sigh> Where is my ambition? Going to try lower my goal to 2000 calories now, just to see if my weight will stabilize a bit. I'm going to be really embarassed to go to the doctor in a week!
OOOH I tried peapod grocery delivery tonight , and my delivery is on Wednesday. The grocery store I walk to is SO expensive, that I thought the mainstream grocery store's delivery service might actually be cheaper. Going to try it out a few times to see.

Yesterday was mostly good and a little bad. I managed to stick to 2000 calories and get in the 45 minute workout. Then I tried to go to bed a little hungry - tossed and turned for over an hour. Was so frustrated I grabbed the only quick thing I could think of at the time (as mentioned before, we are literally almost out of food)... which was some leftover cake in the freezer. I microwaved a piece (no icing, just cake) and that was enough to get me to sleep. But at what cost?!? Missing my goal by about 200 calories?? I was tired at work today anyway. Having a hard time sleeping the past few weeks.
For yesterday, Monday:
plain yogurt with strawberries (350 cals)
2 small dinner rolls (250 cals)
apple (100)
lunch: rice, black beans with chorizo, and bread (700)
fat free yogurt (100)
tvp chili with black beans and topped with cheese (500)
piece of plain cake (200)
TOTAL 2200. Boo hoo. I ate a big lunch because it was free and I knew I didn't have much food at home. Very sad.
Today has been an odd day so far too. I always struggle with the days when I start work at 4am. So I made myself a giant veggie-filled salad to munch on throughout the morning. Except I kept reaching for the unhealthy scraps laying around too. So my calorie totals aren't horrible so far, but they should be alot better!!

Went over yesterday to total 2200 calories. I did work on my feet for 8 hours and then do a good cardio workout for 45 minutes, so this number isn't too disappointing. But the scale jumped up again, and I am so very frustrated. So I've gained 3 pounds in one week?!?! How is that even possible? My doctor seems pretty strict about the 1/2 pound per week, and I'm not even remotely close. Maybe because I've had some "rubbish" in my diet pretty much every day??
For yesterday, Tuesday:
grapes and melon chunks (150)
2 chix sausage links (200)
2 bowls of veggie salad (200)
several bites of rich chocolate fudge cake (250)
another big bowl of salad (200)
bowl of tvp veggie chili with bread (550)
one roasted eggplant (150)
pb sandwich (500)
Thank goodness I'm getting more groceries tonight. I was trying to eat free food at work during the day, but dinner just turned out really wierd. Roasted this old eggplant I've had for a while and ate the whole thing!

Totaled 2150 calories yesterday. Again with active work for 8 hours and a 40 minute Turbo Jam DVD (Punch Kick Jam is my fav!), this might be okay? Today I am feeling a bit better about my recent fast weight increase, because over the last week or so my belly has REALLY started to pooch out. So maybe it wasn't all necessarily useless fat that I gained?? Maybe that's just wishful thinking.
Yesterday I ate:
chicken noodle soup (250)
bowl of salad (100)
lots of berries with a bit of yogurt (200)
several bites of cake scraps AGAIN, why?? (250)
chicken pot pie, free lunch (400)
half of an apple and piece of bread with hummus (150)
chicken pad thai noodle, big portion homemade (700)
prunes (100)
11.6% of calories from complete rubbish (stole your idea, Nir). Other choices weren't ideal either.
Today is my day off work, yay!

To answer your question, Manda - yes, that is an old trick I have seen used before. A small amount of something acidic (cream of tartar, lemon juice, etc) helps the egg whites whip up nice and fluffy. Not totally necessary, but helps.
Yesterday was my day off work, and I decided to take the day off exercise too. I did take a leisurely walk later in the evening, but I wouldn't even count that. The last few days my weight has been holding steady, thankfully. I feel like I just gotta make it to Monday for a good doctor's-weigh-in.
Bran cereal and a few prunes (200)
a sinful croissant with cup of chai tea & milk (600)
apple (100)
ham & cheese sandwich and cup of soup (600)
bowl of salad (100)
nature burger with slice of cheese and avocado (400)
a few onion rings (200)
Total 2200. Well this seems to be the number I'm naturally gravitating towards.
HAVE to workout this evening, so my "habit" stays strong!!

Did make it to the gym last night for a good 45 minute cardio workout. Felt really good to get right back in after taking a day off. I hope to squeeze in a workout this afternoon too, but we have friends coming over in a few hours and the apt is a little dirty!
As far as eating goes yesterday, I ended up a bit high. I didn't realize I had two snacks in the afternoon plus a good sized dinner, so that put me at about 2400 total. Not horrible with an 8-hour shift plus cardio workout - but 2200 would be even better. I'm attempting to even things out a bit by eating a bit less today. Might be hard though because we've planned pizza for dinner with the friends who are coming over. Luckily we're doing homemade, so I can use skim mozz, veggie toppings, etc.
For Friday:
a couple of prunes & oatmeal with raisins (450)
cake bits (200)
granola bread with cream cheese (400)
chicken breast & rice, free lunch (400)
bowl of salad and yogurt (300)
banana and handful of cereal (150)
tofu & veggie stir fry with rice (500)
It does seem like alot now that I'm writing it!

The scrabble-fest at my place last night turned into a munch fest. I had a very high day that I am trying to offset today by having a lighter day. Also I only squeezed in about 20 minutes of yoga yesterday, but I can still feel it in my arms today. Luckily I just finished a good 45 minute workout for today. So goods along with the bads.
Saturday:
a couple of prunes (50)
granola bread with cream cheese (400)
chocolate truffle (150)
potatoes and chicken breast, free lunch (400)
half of a croissant, threw the remaining away (150)
yogurt and bowl of salad (300)
snack fest, peanuts & chips & cookie (450)
homemade veggie pizza (700)
I hate to do this, but I HAVE to be honest.... 2600 total. Oy!!

I know what you mean. I have to be honest in my diary too, or else, I think, "whats the point of fooling myself??"
Anyway, snackfest and scrabblefest sounded like fun!! I am in the same boat too. Last night was movie, popcorn (movie popcorn) and PIZZA night!!! Yikes. Totals were way over and I don't "regret" it-its just hard to get back on track. The pizza was DARN good though!!
When is your next doctors appt? How are you doing? any morning sickness? Are you taking pre-natal vitamins? Just curious if you feel much different. Sorry if I am nosy, dont mean to be.

Funny you should ask, OWF, because my next doctor's appt is this afternoon (thanks for asking, by the way... I tend to be shy and not want to blab too much about this kind of stuff in my "diet" diary). My morning sickness has thankfully mostly abated. Only if I let myself get too hungry or thirsty does it reoccur. It was SOOO hard to eat healthfully when hardly anything sounded appetizing. Plus the vitamins I had were making me even more sick!!! I've switched vitamin brands and that seems to have helped immensely. Now I'm just hungry ALOT! Other than that, I've no real horrible symptoms to report. Of course, I'm only 4 1/2 months right now, so maybe I'll have more trouble later. As far as exercising goes, it's much easier now that I'm not queasy all the time. My heart rate seems to get up there much more easily too.
Yesterday didn't turn out too horrible, considering it was SuperBowl snack fest this time. I took some fruit to my sister's house and she had reduced fat cheese & crackers just to make it a little less sinful. I had worked a full day pretty busy and got in a 45 minute cardio workout too.
For Sunday:
tuna nicoise salad (300)
scalloped potatoes (250)
leftover veggie pizza (500)
banana and prunes (200)
bowl of fiber cereal (200)
superbowl snack-fest: chips & dip, cheese & crackers, grapefruit, apple, a cookie (800)
Total 2300

I know how ya feel...lately my diary has turned into Scoob's Female Medical Tests Nightmare Diary LOL. Not the kinda stuff I'd EVER thought I'd write about here. But I have a hard time supressing what's on my mind...I guess I kinda let it all out here...hope I didn't chase anyone away LOL!!! Run for the hills!!!
I'm so glad to hear your morning sickness has ended. At least for me, once that ended the rest was smooth sailing. I was in pregnancy heaven for the most part. Except for the fact that I couldn't tie my own shoes...or get off the couch under my own power... Thank goodness for hubs...he was a life saver. Of course I gained 49 pounds...must of had SOMETHING to do with it.
Good luck at your doc appointment!

Thanks for the reassurance, Scoobs! I guess our lives affect our eating (usually anyway) in any event.
Yesterday had relatively low calorie day... but then again I had the day off work and felt too worn out to exercise in the evening. No good reason really, I just fell asleep reading. Doctor's appointment went well. 13 pounds gained at week 18, and she didn't seem too concerned about it. Although that is on track to gain 30-35 pounds total, yikes! It's within the range of normal though. 30 would be nice. Need to remind myself that nutritionally-dense food choices AND exercise is the key!!! And I think we can all relate to that!
For Monday:
a couple of prunes (50)
oatmeal and banana (300)
grain bagel with lite cream cheese (450)
baked potato with slice of cheese (350)
bowl of salad (100)
veggie burger with slice of cheese (400)
tater tots (250)
dry fiber cereal (100)
Total of 2000 calories, roughly.

Had a tough time yesterday for some reason. I grabbed two relatively high-calorie and low-nutrition small meals while at work during the day. I did a late Turbo Jam DVD for 45 minutes and needed a snack before going to bed. Should have chosen a piece of fruit or salad or something, but instead I had a piece of a bagel with cream cheese. I vow to get more veggies tonight!!
a couple of prunes (50)
egg sandwich with piece of cheese (400)
raisin bread (200)
bite of cookie dough (100)
potatoes and chicken breast (350)
pasta with meat sauce (350)
banana (100)
bran cereal with skim milk (200)
pbj sandwich (400)
1/4 of a bagel with cream cheese (200)
Total 2300.

Your meal plan sounds so yummy! And I am glad your morning sickness is over-that must stink! I just got back from Baby Gap where I bought THE CUTEST baby clothes for my sister in law's shower. She is due in March and we will have a new nephew. It will be SO FUN for you to go clothes shopping when its time!
Anyway, I have a question. I must be underestimating some foods. For instance, you listed 1/4 of a bagel plus cream cheese as 200 calories- so by that, a whole bagel with cream cheese is 800 calories???!!! OMG. That might be part of my problem-not knowing EXACT calorie counts-I probably would've estimated that as 100-110 calories. Anyway, do you use the calorie counters here or do you go by sight mostly? I am still trying to estimate calories properly, sorry. I should know these things by now, right?!

It might not necessarily be that you are overestimating, OWF. But you could always measure out your portions a few times, to make sure you're guessing right. That's what I do if I think I might be underestimating. As for my 1/4 bagel with cream cheese... well it was a large (probably 400 calorie whole) bagel and the cream cheese was NOT lite and I was pretty generous with it (probably 100 cal per serving). Plus I usually round up so that I don't give myself the illusion that I am being super-accurate with my portion sizes. In nerdy ex-engineer talk, we would call that "significant digits"
Was feeling lazy yesterday but dragged myself to the gym anyway. Did 45 minutes of good cardio work. I really dislike eating a late dinner, but it was already 8:30pm at this point! Plus the cupboards are bare... groceries on the way tomorrow! I could have gone across the street and gotten a quick and cheap pizza. BUT I didn't, YAY!! I walked a few more blocks to Whole Foods (and spent twice as much!) and picked up chicken breast and a pasta salad saltimboca. It seemed pretty "light".
For Wednesday:
a couple of prunes (50)
leftover lasagna, yes for breakfast (400)
walnut raisin roll (200)
small sample of pot pie (150)
half chix breast and small baked potato, free lunch (350)
apple & tortilla chips (250)
bowl of salad and piece of cheese (200)
chicken breast and pasta salad (650)
Total 2200. Sounds pretty good to me. Did have the rest of my salad stash, but other than that vegetables were pretty lacking. Should have made a better choice than pasta to accompany my dinner. Oh well, avoiding the pizza felt like quite an accomplishment!!

Not sure why I overate so heavily for dinner last night. I think I waited until too late again. I was so hungry while waiting for black beans to simmer that I munched on extra tortilla chips and some honey peanuts. Definitely a waste. I was surprised I didn't hit the peanuts earlier this week though, as they've been around since the SuperBowl on Sunday.
For Thursday:
piece of toast with bit o PB (200)
big bowl oatmeal and prunes (450)
veggie burger with cheese and tater tots (650)
lowfat frozen yogurt (200)
tortilla chips and peanuts while cooking (300)
black beans, rice, and few more chips (500)
Total was 2300.
In retrospect, I also overate for lunch. Bummer. I did a good cardio workout for 45 minutes. Went shopping for an outfit to wear to my courthouse wedding on Tuesday. We decided to do the legal affair here where we live now, and just have a party with family & friends in Ohio in April. Lots less complicated that way. So anyway, while shopping I was able to at least try on clothes from the regular women's departments - just two sizes bigger. Some weren't very flattering, but then again I'm not used to seeing myself almost 15 pounds heavier. Actually still holding at 14 pounds gained total.

A very out of the ordinary work day yesterday. I was busy busy all day and didn't eat much from 4am until noon. My assistant's last day was celebrated with pizza. I had two pieces at that point, and the crust was pretty thick. So I basically only had one big meal. Tried to go to bed when my total was 2000 cal, but my stomach was growling!! 2200 again it is!
For Friday:
couple of prunes and couple of grapes (100)
tuna salad nicoise (250)
banana (100)
2 x pizza (700)
bowl of salad (100)
black beans and rice leftovers (450)
lowfat frozen yogurt and skim hot choc (300)
bread with bit o pb (200)
Took the day off from working out yesterday too. And predictably I'm having trouble making myself get off my bum today. I lose momentum so easily as far as my workouts go!!

OOOh I just hate when I get out of my regular routine of recording and reporting in my diary. It's only been a couple of days, but I can already feel myself slipping into the "I don't care" mode. I want to get back on track.
Just to recap - Saturday consisted of WAY TOO MUCH eating sweets at work. A v-day cookie (too cute to resist, apparently), a taste of a chocolate creme brulee, and a helping of leftover strawberry mousse I made. Not good. Ended up at 2300 calories for the day, and only managed to muster 30 wimpy minutes of walking on treadmill at incline.
Sunday was a little better, but not much. AGAIN submitted to the call of the v-day cookie and had a taste of a new tea bread flavor I made up. It turned out well, but I didn't need to have more than an itsy little bit in order to judge. Ended up at 2300 calories again, and wimped out completely on my workout. Partly because I spent much of the evening giving the apartment a thorough cleaning. It felt like a workout!!
This week is going to be no less challenging too. Parents are visiting tomorrow for our mini wedding ceremony at the courthouse. Of course, a celebratory dinner should follow, but I should be able to keep under control. It's not being able to fit in any workout that is upsetting. I have such an easy time getting out of the habit!

I didn't get back into the groove of exercising and keeping my food log yet... but I am going to cut myself a break given the ceremony and everything. Thanks everyone for the well wishes!
It was quite an adventure with the winter storm we were in the process of receiving that day!! Luckily the county govt hadn't closed (although the federal govt did that afternoon, which is rare), and the ceremony was brief but actually very nice. We got stuck in crawling traffic for 2 hours, but on the positive side the weather caused my mom's flight home to be cancelled. So she was able to join us for dinner after all. When we finally reached the nice restaurant, they had CLOSED for the weather!! We were laughing so hard, it was just too funny to be true! So we ended up at the only nearby place we could find, and that was a pizza place. We had a mini wedding cake that my boss had made for me... I'm sure the staff thought it was pretty funny! But we had such a memorable time, we didn't care! My new hubby's parents went home yesterday evening, so today is BACK TO NORMAL!
Tomorrow is my in-depth ultrasound appointment, so YES you could definitely say things are changing pretty fast for me! Only 2 months until our actual reception with family and friends in Ohio.

Thanks fruitloop! Everything did go well with the ultrasound. Turns out we are having a BOY! I am a bit surprised actually because somehow I was convinced that it was a girl. My sister already has two boys, so looks like I was unable to balance it out a bit. I guess we just need to settle on a name now!
On a less positive note... the appointment took my ENTIRE afternoon. I ran around like crazy at work to get everything done on time, only to wait almost an hour in the waiting room. Then the ultrasound itself took about 45 minutes! By the time I got home, I was exhausted. I met my hubby for a relatively healthy dinner at a lebanese restaurant (hummus, falafel, etc) where I gave him a "It's a Boy" card as a surprise since he didn't make it to the appt. I really passed out when we finally got home, and will probably go to bed early too since I have to work at 4am tomorrow. WHEW! So I really sound like I'm making excuses for the fact that I didn't workout. I guess I am. I feel guilty, but it really would have been a stretch time-wise and was DEFINITELY a stretch energy-wise. Setting my sights on tomorrow!
For yesterday, Thursday:
ww bagel with cream cheese & prunes (500)
melon & grapes and piece of bread (200)
leftover pasta with chicken (600)
nectarine & yogurt (300)
green tea ice cream, one scoop (200)
bowl of salad (150)
piece of bread with pb (300)
TOTAL was about 2250. Did go to the gym this day for 45 minutes of cardio.

Working out is priority number one this afternoon. Worked all day early shift today, and the positive side is the rest of the afternoon is free to get things done. I propose a 45 minute Turbo Jam... that's seems to get my heart pumpin pretty easily lately!
For Friday:
2 pieces of bread (200)
3 plain crepes (300), really wanted to take a break and make veggie omelet but had no time
kidney beans with mixed veggies (200), not very tasty leftovers at work
beef stroganoff (400), small bit but not very healthy
rice krispie scraps (200)
piece of cheese & plum (200)
1 pita, hummus, tabboleh, etc (600)
half container of yogurt (100)
Total 2200. But looking back it seems like I might have overestimated quite a few things. Sometimes I do that when I feel like I might have forgotten a nibble or two (this happens while tasting things at work).

Hi there Mrs. Trim... ! It's a BOY! Congratulations!!! I think picking a name was one of the hardest things...we knew we were having a boy also and could not come up with a name we both liked...so we took the easy way out and made him a Jr. LOL! Not very original...
It's a Boy!

Thanks guys! I was already thinking how much this site is going to continue to help me for very possibly a whole year more! Ups and downs, literally! Speaking of ups - scale jumped up to 144 after being at 141 for about 3 weeks. I guess I should have expected things would catch up with me, but I still don't like it. It makes it feel out of control that I'm not more steady. Either way that makes 17 pounds total and I'm only at 20 weeks!! I don't think I should go below 2200 calories or so, especially on days when I work AND exercise. Maybe it should be a bit lower on "off" days???
I DID TURBO JAM YESTERDAY! Finally! Now I just have to make sure I get off my bum again this afternoon, and I think I will be well on the way to re-establishing my workout "habit". As far as eating cleanly... I still struggle. I think it's partly due to poor planning on my part as far as meals/snacks while at work. I let myself get too hungry, and I grab bites of whatever is in front of me (ummm... pastries usually!). Need to be creative in order to eat healthy on a tight grocery budget!!
For Saturday:
couple of prunes and melon (150)
some tuna salad nicoise (150)
raisin bread and pineapple chunks (150)
yogurt with tons of blueberries (300)
part of a croissant and small hot chocolate (300)
eggplant and tomato salad leftover (300)
ham & cheese sandwich (350)
chicken soup with crackers (300)
small cup of ice cream (150)
TOTAL 2200. Plus 45 minutes of TJ DVD. I didn't realize how evenly spaced my calories were yesterday. So that's a plus, I guess!

OMG Trim!! You are having a BOY!!!!!!!!! Yeah!! Congrats!!
Dont worry too much about your scale numbers, you are pregnant and I bet your baby boy is hungry!! At least you are working out and still trying to eat as healthy as possible. I think you are doing great!!! How does it feel to be a Mrs.? Any different?

Still in the honeymoon phase, I suppose - about being a Mrs. that is. Yep, pretty content with life in general now. There are so many upcoming changes soon, but I somehow have this sense that we will be able to figure everything out together. And THAT is quite a feat for a worrier and a pessimist, as I am!!
Didn't do too horribly yesterday as far as controlling the junk food snacking at work. And I made it to the gym for 45 minutes on the elliptical. I will say though that I don't know if I'll be able to make it on the elliptical for a whole month more (that was my original goal). It's already a little uncomfortable with all that motion. And walking on a treadmill feels like such an impact on my back! Going to try elliptical on higher resistance but slower pace.
For Sunday:
couple of prunes & half a melon (150)
BLT sandwich (450)
bread scraps (100) better than cake scraps I guess
apple (100)
large pita and a half with hummus (450)
pbj and some tortilla chips (600)
two scrambled eggs with cheese (300)
Total came to 2150. Happy with that!

Thanks to Peter for updating my username. I liked the "trim" nickname so much! I just thought it fit what I aspire to be!
And while I'm writing - a brief update:
I nibbled on some ice cream this evening. A pretty modest portion for me, but still it put me a little over my goal for the day. Ho hum. I did manage to get in a good Turbo Jam DVD workout though! More tomorrow...
