Hi All

I'm new in posting on this forum but I have been studying this website for over couple of months and I must say I was well over the moon at long last I found something that could motivate me in losing weight.

I wanted to join this forum more or less straight away but didn't have courage till I came across Peter's Weight challenge and I thought to myself this is it this is what I have been waiting for .

I was about 115lbs before having my son 9 years ago (oh i miss that figure) after his birth my weight has been going up up and up. I've been on yoyo diets for 9 years and gone bad to worst. I start losing weight then after a while when it doesn't seem to work I lose interest. I've read most of the diet dairies and wow I am amazed that how most of them I could relate to myself especially at the beginnings.

After reading the tutorial guide it has helped me to understand diet and it's secrets more.

Diet is not only about losing weight but maintaining it is even more important balancing your dinner plate is also vital.

I am going to try and maintain this programme try not to lose more than 2lbs a week (as i now know if this happens then as soon as i am of the diet i will gain it all back).

Instead of starving myself I will cut down on portion size

start to walk 3/4 times a week for about an hour

replace sweet chocolates with fruit

cut down on fried food I will grill them or stick it in the oven.

I know first 2 weeks are quite easy but then it gets harder but i know if i stick to it and not starve myself i will be ok.

As most of you do weight yourselves I too weight myself every day (well twice a day) once on empty stomach in the morning and then in the evening it shows about 2/3lbs difference.

 My current weight
158lbs

My Ideal weight 133lbs.

to reach my ideal weight I need to loose
25lbs

As i read on one of the topic Peter posted it takes years putting on weight so don't except to loose over night so i think i should give myself time scale till end of this year.

i hope this is more realistic plan please do advice if i am pushing my luck.

Welcome

A very good plan you have there to loose weight slowly.  That is certainly what is happening with me.

Fruits and veggies and cutting down on red meat (that is a toughy for me)

Best of luck and hope to see you posting and loosing regularly.  A lot of us have joined Peter's challenge.  They help so much.

Cheerio

Thanks Maggie For the encouragement it is sure could be difficult at times especially if you have to cut down on the food and drinks you love. I am a great fan of coke used to have 1 litre a day minimum hardly drank water fizz was my fluid replacement. So firstly I decided to cut down on coke completely for a week or more before starting any sort of diet.

it has been 3 weeks now and I have only drank couple of glasses and that is over 2 weeks ago. I'm well please with myself cause I never thought I could do it proves it if you put your mind to it you could.

Anyway weekend has not been bad at all either I have kindly refused food (wow now that is really not me especially if it is cooked/ prepared by someone else)Yesterday I went to an Invitation and there were bottles of coke everywhere and I was offered numerous times and I refused everytime instead went for plain water can't believe it I shocked quite few faces as I couldn't stay away from this stuff. as said before maybe it is the early weeks that's why it might be easy. I really hope I keep off this stuff.

I have managed to do 10,000 steps.

Hi Again

Thanks for the advise Theresa I am trying to make small changes as it comes so that I could really stick to this healthy diet. cause I have been on numerous diets before but never lasted more than 4 weeks. cause I've starved myself. and then was too tired to continue. but I think this time I might succeed as I've found you all to motivate each other and when one falls down you guys quickly pick them up and show sense. So the chances of success are higher

Yesterday me and a friend (who is diabetic type 2) went to weigh ourselves to get a printout so we could keep a tag and to motivate us both. we have made a plan that will suit us best (i.e. my is the same as written above but with exercise).

My friend has an exercise workout video which is for abt an hour. We decided to get it out and do some exercise. for the first time in years this was my first proper workout.

Hi Again

Hmm haven't done that bad withdrawn sugar from tea completely this week, finding it ok never drank tea without sugar. I was craving for choc on Wednesday night as opened the fridge loaded with chocolate I was tempted got milk out close the fridge (but didn't give in to chocolate which is a good thing?). At the moment I am still on top of thing not doing bad.

Getting loads of help from my 9 year old he always checks in the evening how many steps I've done if they are less than 10,000 he will make sure I do them.

I hope I could do the same over the weekend cause this is the main struggle.

My current weight 156lbs
