Right - I have never written a diary before so its difficult to know what to write, but here goes...
I gained 3 stones (about 44lbs) in pregnancy...1 stone (13lbs) I lost when I had the baby (you know the baby weight and the rest!) but the other 2 stones (26lbs) just wouldnt shift - it didnt help that I was not able to eat properly due to baby stuff...so grab a quick snack here and there and live mainly on toast / sandwiches / biscuits / micro pizza to get me through the day....
My baby girl is now 9 months old and when I went to the baby clinic to get her weighed on 18 March 2008, there was a lady there whose baby was about 3 months old and this lady didnt even look like she had ever had a pregnant belly, and she asked me if i was pregnant again!!!!! I was sooooo embarrased! On the way home I stopped off at the pharmacy to use the weight machine as I had been trying to blame the scales at home of being broken ...ofcourse they weren't and the machine told me i was overweight at 5'2 height and weighing in at 11 stones 3lbs (157lbs) - I really felt down but didnt know what to do, or how I was going to fit in a healthy lifestyle with a VERY demanding hyper baby!
I started by just cutting out of the sugary stuff, and making sure that i was at least eating a decent breakfast, i.e porridge oats / cereal - then did some research on net to see what was out there...that wasnt too difficult in terms of ingredients - I wanted stuff that I could easily pick up on my weekly trip to the grocery store...so I came across a really simple, healthy diet plan and started it on 21 April 2008 and have stuck to it whole heartedly! In total from 21 April to today 3 May I have lot 8lbs - since 18 March 2008 I have lost 1 stone (13lbs) and currently weigh in at (10 stone 3lbs) 144lbs!
Watching the numbers on the scale go down are a motivation but there are some really hard days and thats when i need support to keep me going....I have another 13 or so lbs to go to hit my target weight...

I have sorted out next weeks 'menu' and I am so excited about cooking the foods from my new low fat cook book (which I would be lost without as I am a lousy cook otherwise!) - going grocery shopping tommorow to get everything in for all of next week...My poor husband, who doesnt need to lose weight is complaining that his trousers are too big for him now! But I do give him bigger portions at breakfast and dinner and he has what he wants for lunch whilst he is at work! So I don't know how he is losing weight! Wish I could lose it as fast as him though! He called earlier to ask whether he should bring home the box of Belgian chocolates that a client gave him to say thankyou and I said a firm NO...he can eat them all himself and gain some of the weight back ...
Did a Wii workout today and oh my god my hips and ribs are hurting from the hula hooping...and I went for a jog in the Wii Park...have unlocked the island lap which I look forward to running this evening once I have put my daughter to bed! she does give me some funny looks when I am hula hooping...She obviously thinks mummy has gone loopy!
We have visitors tommorow so have to get some 'snacks' in for them - won't be too healthy but I think I am strong enough to resist...like I said watching the numbers on the scale go down is a great motivator!

Went gorcery shopping today and bought in all the items I will need for healthy eating week 3! It took agesssssss in the supermarket because I had to buy ingredients that I had never purchased before, but we got there in the end...! The fridge is packed with no more room and my dear husband is complaining that it all looks far to healthy!it will benefit him in the end i tell him. I know he doesnt need to lose weight but surely healthy eating will benefit him in otherways!
Our visitors arrived in the afternoon and I put the snacks out...somosas, aloo tikkis and barbeque wings...all VERY unhealthy and full of fat! but being Indian its customary to put such foods out for guests....I was VERY good...as just before they arrived i made sure I had my lunch - today was Pitta bread, filled with cottage cheese, lettuce and a slice of wafer thin ham... sooo i resisted the other foods and didnt have any whatsoever - I am soooo proud of myself....our guests bought us a BIG tin of chocolates - they look soooo good....BUT I haven't opened the tin and am sending it with my husband on Tuesday to his work place so he can share it with his colleagues ...
Heres to week 3 of my 'losing the pregnancy weight gain' healthy eating plan

Oh wow! Made Oven cooked Chicken Tikka from Rosemary Conelys Low Fat cook book and it was fantastic!! Even hubby enjoyed it....finally!! a breakthrough...I followed the receipe to the word and even made my own Tikka paste now thats a first for me...
I didnt get any excercise in today, due to entertaining guests, shopping in the morning and then clearing up after (loads of dishes!!), entertaining my little girl J - feeding, changing, bathing her and then all the housework and then cooking dinner! I am sooo exhausted!
Think I will read a good book and turn in for the night...
heres to tomorrow! Another day....

Well done on taking charge of your weight now before it gets too much. You seem to be very disciplined and I am sure you will get to your goal weight in no time at all. Keep it up

Thanks Theresa for your comments
Today was a really nice warm day so we took J to visit relatives in Hertfordshire and the park, she really enjoyed herself. I had breakfast and lunch before I went and took a banana with me as my own snack...We didnt stay for dinner at the relatives so when we got home I made Thai Pork Stirfry (the healthy version) BUT picked up plain noodles from the local chinese to serve the stirfry with...I don't think that was a brilliant idea, as my stomach feels sooo loaded now...however I am looking forward to excercising it off tomorrow. The bank holiday weekend has ended so I can get some normality back into my diet and excercise regime.

What a beautiful few days we have had - its been so sunny and warm! Yesterday I took J to the weight clinic and had her weighed yayyy she's put on weight! I usually would drive there but yesterday I walked with J in her buggy - it was a lovely walk - we walked back through the park on the way back and then picked up a few things from the grocery store that I was missing for the evenings meal....just mustard powder and tomato passata. I made Spicy beef enchiladas yesterday evening, all with low fat ingredients and it was deliciousssssssss.....I made a bit more than i should have as i followed the recipe for four persons, so it looks like we'll be having the same for dinner tonight, which I don't mind and nor does hubby.
I also got in my wii jogging excercise, as I unlocked the island lap and its much longer than the basic...so was out of breath for agessssssss....lol...
I had 2 low fat grilled sausages with grilled tomato and mushrooms for breakfast and am now sipping on some tea, will have a weight watchers yoghurt for mid morning snack and lunch is a baked sweet potato with 4 tablespoons of low fat baked beans.
I hope to lose another 2lbs this week. I havent measured myself yet, as I can't find the measuring tape, if I don't find it today then i'll go buy a new one...
Have friends coming over tommorow with their babies so J wil have some play buddys and the weather is set to be lovely again so we'll probably all head to the park.

What a great day it is again today!!! Its great to be on maternity leave in weather like this, although I remember being very uncomfortable in the hot weather last year as I was about 6/7 months pregnant! and the lift at work was broken and I work on the 4th floor so had to traipse up 200 stairs at least 3/4 times a day - you would have thought that would have made me fit! but it did nothing but make me cry !!!
J has her little play buddys coming over at 12pm today...i hope she behaves...she tends to be quite bossy - yes even at 9 months!!! and I have to watch that she is gentle with the other children...but we'll walk to the swing park nearby and that should tire her out for the evening, leaving me time for some excercise....
I had porridge for breakfast this morning, lunch is pitta bread stuffed with salad and low fat cheese and for dinner today we are having cod with steamed veg...and if i feel that hubby deserves it I may, just may make him some chips!
Yesterday I made pudding - YES thats right - me...i made low fat low calories apple and blackberry turnovers and served with low fat custard...it was yummmmmmmmmmm - later today i am making strawberry and vanilla parfait - oooo yum! I love this cookbook i have - i have actually discovered i love cooking and never did before..

It was a grapefruit, boiled egg and slice of toast this morning - I have weigh in tomorrow - fingers crossed my hard work is paying off...its really disheartening when you are soooo good and the scales havent moved!
We had a great day yesterday - J's little buddies came over, we went to the park, they loved the swings and slide. Then we came back to ours and sat out in the garden, the weather was just gorgeous! Am glad it has cooled down a little today, as I think J found the heat a bit overwhelming! but come on for a summer baby she should be loving it! But poor baby is teething at the moment - her first tooth!!! I can see the top one cutting through and its really giving her trouble...didnt stop her being bossy boots yesterday though!
I didnt get a chance to make the strawberry and vanilla parfait yesterday, but will give it a go later today.
Its Cottage pie and veg for dinner today

Weighed my self today and am 64kg (141lbs) yayyyy - hardwork seems to be working and its making me more and more motivated to stay on track!!!!!!
I did 10 minutes on step areobics on Wii today, 10 minutes of jogging and another 10 minutes of the balancing games.
Last night I made a roast, topside beef joint, with yorkshire pudding, boiled potatoes and lots of veg...the yorkshire puds were low fat so that was good...was really tasty!
Off to the supermarket in a bit to get all the ingredients for next weeks meals.
Had Cereal with skimmed milk this morning and will have a sandwich with wafer thin ham and salad for lunch - tonights meal with be creamy chicken korma yummy!
oo and I made the strawberry and vanilla parfait - it turned out really well and tasted yummy!
