This is it, a journey to  a new life. A healthy life. I have been trying to lose weight for as long as I can remember. For me losing weight would mean that I can go into almost any store and actually find my size. Something that rarely ever happens.

My entire family has been obese or boarder line obese my entire life. We love that down home southern cooking:pig::cow::chicken:deep fried and smoothered. When I was in my teenage years my mother started cooking more healthier as she has always been a dieter. Dieting all the time. I learned very quickly that I didn't want to lose weight by using diet pills because the weight ALWAYS comes back, plus some.

So I am starting over, this time making lifetime changes. Im changing the way I eat. I no longer purchase unhealthy food. I bake and never fry anything. I drink more water. I buy fruits and vegtable so that my daughter and I will always have something healthy to choose from.

Recently I have been working out. VERY slowly. I do some Tae Bo and walk occasionally. I even played BASKETBALL today with a friend, whose also trying to lose weight. I don't want to start to quickly even though its sometimes a bore because I don't feel like Im getting a complete workout. NO PAIN NO GAIN.

My measurements are as follows: 170lbs and size 13 jeans. My goal is to be a size 128 and size 7 jeans.

HERE I GO........

This has been my life the last couple of days.

I have been eating my recommended amount of calories and logging my food in my online food log. I can't seem to cut out the sweets and the late night meal. Which is usually around 9 or 10pm and usually after I eat dinner. I went on a 20 min walk with a friend on Wednesday, but I did no exercise yesterday. I did go grocery shopping and only picked up healthy food. I bought some of the Special K bars, only 90 calories!:yum:

I've decided that since I can't afford to pay to go to a gym, that I'll just use the free offers that the local gyms have to offer. I found a 2 week free trial to Curves on my new cereal that I bought. So my friend and I are going to try Curves for 2 weeks. Hopefully this will help jump start my exercises habits.

I need to watch my eating habits and trying to exercise atleast 30 min a day.

Stef,

Think protein or high fiber, when you crave those late night snacks.   It's something that would help fill you up or keep you full.   Are you getting enough protein and fiber for your dinner meal?   If you are including processed foods, they break down quickly, and give you cravings.   Just an idea..............

I love the mini-bags of low fat microwave popcorn............low calories, low fat, big volume!  :yum:

Hi! Hope you are successful in your journey!  Have you priced all of the gyms in your area?  Some are super reasonable.  We have one here that offers a dollar a day.  Like if you go 15 times a months that is what you pay....Just call around.  You'd be suprised.  Walking is good, but gets boring.  Hand weights are great!  I started out with a mini trampoline and a step exercise video.  It got me started.  And you can find good exercises on You Tube!  Have a great week!

Oh the one here is called ATC Fitness, but I don't think it is a franchise....just a local place.  There is another one too called 24Hour Fitness that IS a franchise that has really good offers also.
