I consider myself to be in pretty decent shape, but like many others, I sometimes lose control over what I eat . I've now decided to regain full control and post an online food/exercise diary to help me . Here it goes...so far today:
Pre-work out snack: Atkins Peanut Butter Protein Bar: + 240 calories
Actual work out: 30 minutes on the stationary bike, nonstop with moderate intensity: - 300 calories.
Breakfast: A small green apple: +55 calories. A small bananna: +100 calories.
Lunch: 1/4 cup of cashews: + 180 calories. 2 slices of canadian bacon: + 40 calories. 1 go lean kashi bar: + 180 calories.
Snack: Some pinapple: + 45 calories. Some peanut butter: +200 calories.
Dinner: Shoot...lost count over what I ate. I ate some yogurt Raisins (at least 150 calories worth), a ton more peanut butter, some of my mom's pasta sauce, a bit of sphagetti sqash, and a few other things! Grrr...my portions were small but this was at least 500 calories!
Total: Consumed about 1500 calories, but burned off 300.
~1seekspie....keeping you posted !

Grrr! According to the scale I've gained two pounds since Friday. It doesn't make any sense because I've been going to the bathroom regularily, I haven't been comsuming anything that's extrmely high in sugar or fat, and there is no way I ate over 3500 calories in one of the last three days. Yet I feel like I have a tiny bit more fat on my midsection....weird.....and annoying!
There was my little rant for the day. Here's what I consumed:
Breakfast: 1/2-3/4 cup of heritage bites cereal with an equal amount of plain, "light" soymilk: 180 calories.
Lunch: A small sandwhich composed of Sara Lee multigrain wheat bread with about a tablespoon or two of all natural peanut butter, and a small reddish green apple: 300 calories max.
Snack: A "delightful" brand smoothie, and a bananna: 200 calories.
Dinner: Not sure yet....I'll re-edit this tomorrow.
Overall, today went pretty well. Tomorrow I should probably eat more for breakfast and/or snack because I'm definitely below my BMR/RMR. I also burned 300 calories again on the bike. Feelings for today? I'd say excited (I get to compete in a French competition on Wednesday!!!), Nervous (I had to present my speech in class, plus I made the mistake of trying "5-hour energy," and sad (my mom and I were in a fight last night). Right now I'm calm....better go start on my homework!
Until next time...

I don't know if this helps at all, but just for fun I sorted your foods from healthiest to unhealthiest...
pasta sauce, sphagetti squash
apple, banana, pineapple
cashews, peanut butter
soy milk
heritage bites cereal
bacon
wheat bread, Atkins bar, kashi bar, yogurt raisins, smoothie
notes:
Without an ingredient list I have no idea what is in the smoothie, so I am worried it might be sweetned. If it is just fruits and no sugar/HFCS etc then it is also ok.
anything called "wheat bread" is suspect, unless the first ingredient is WHOLEwheat flour. In general "wheat bread" is bread that has some refined or enriched flour and therefore cannot be called wholewheat.
Form your own opinion of the Kashi and Atkins bars based on their ingredients: what are they based on? (if grain, is it a whole grain?) what is used to sweeten them? either way, you can see it is a processed product.
I assumed that pasta sauce was tomato-based.

| Not sure about the pasta sauce being at the top of the list...tomatos are definitely a super food....but most store bought sauces are full of sugar and sodium. Best to make yourself!

The smoothie, I believe, was sweetened with sucraclose and a few other artificial sweeteners, along with all natural apple/other juices. Don't worry, I checked for HFCS....I live in dire fear of it !
I've semi-analyzed the ingredients of the bread, and you were right, it wasn't whole grain. I know there are better breads on the market, but the probelm is they either taste awful or contain far too many calories. My RMR is really low, so I don't want to "spend" all of my calories on something like bread .
Idk about the atkins/kashi bars. The ingredients definitely aren't "all-natural", but they do contain fiber, protein, and several other vitamins. Yes, they're probably not as beneficial because they were added artificially, but these are pretty much the best things I can eat without heading for the candy aisle.
The pasta-sauce was home-made by my mother with tomatoes, tomato juice, carrot, onions, and ground beef. The ground beef alone would probably knock it off as my healthiest choice. Then again, most of the other ingredients were pure and simple, making the sauce nutritious and DELICIOUS. It's so good, I fear they'll make it illegal.

I'm so sorry you had to eat Heinz, especially after hearing about all your missing with my mom's cooking! I'll be sure to ship some to Tenessee next time she makes it !
Unexplainable weight gain is the worst kind, but thinking back to it, it might not be so unexplainable. I've been kind of stressed out in the last few months, and therefore not comsuming that much/keeping track of what I ate/how many calories. Recently, my mom became worried and ordered me to start eating a bit more. I did to please her, and came to realize how hungry I actually was (on the days I didn't eat much....some days I kind of pigged out for no reason).
I'm thinking I was in starvation mode for a little while so I'm definitely trying to take back control!
I think I'm going to stop tracking what I eat for the whole day, as breakfast/lunch are almost always the same (aside from small variations like instead of an apple I eat a bananna), and dinner is unpredictable as far as calories go.
Here's a summary today instead: I didn't overeat, I exercised (35 minutes---350 calories), and aside from three oreos/some yogurt raisins (my mom insisted and I deserved a treat), I didn't eat anything really unhealthy. My feelings for today? Very decent. I attended a highschool art show and everything/everyone was extremely pleasant !
