Good Morning Diary and others

There is no better time to diet than today.  I have had my oatmeal, an orange and some cranberry juice so off to a good start.

It is snowing again this morning!!!  Should melt fast!!!  I hope!!!

Walked every day in March and plan to do the same in April, perhaps adding some distance or going more than once a day.   If I have to miss a day for some reason then double up the next day.   Continue with less red meat, and fat.  Perhaps a little less of everything.  Wish me luck. I wish luck for all of you on your chosen way to loose lbs and keep healthy.  We all know wishing won't do it.  Action will.

Good Morning Diary and Others:

Ahhhhh, if only wishing would do it...lol

I woke up at six  a.m. this morning and have been busy as a bee ever since.  I feel quite energetic and plan to do some painting outside as soon as it gets a bit warmer.  Still freezing overnight.  Snow is just about gone...3 cheers...soon the spring farm and ranch work will be in full swing.  That's when I will have to watch myself cause when I work hard I tend to eat hearty.

Some new baby calves starting to arrive, they are so cute to watch.

Went to church yesterday and that always helps to set me up for a good week.

Wll I musn't waste this burst of energy sitting down, must get at.

I don't think I realized you are on a farm... hard work!  That should count toward exercise for sure if you can avoid that hearty eating afterward!

Hi Maggie,

Thought I'd stop by and say Hello.  I'm glad someone here lives on a farm.  When it comes time to muck out my mother's goat barn for the spring (any day now) you will understand what it involves.

Good luck on your goals!

Good Morning Diary and Readers

Thanks for stopping by mj amd Nancy.

Yes,  I live on a farm, although we rented out our land and ranch last year.  Although we continue to live here in the country because we love it.  We do help out with driving people here and there and throwing the odd bale of hay to animals.

We plan to paint most of our building this year, which is a big job.  Also a huge yard which needs lots of attention and loving care.  Plant a veggie garden and so on and so on.

Sun is shinning today but still ice and snow to trip one up.

Baked bread yesterday and I must quit doing that, as I just cannot leave it alone. Although when I bake it there are no preservatives and other chemicals in it.  So it is a toss up which is better.  Ahhh the crust of a fresh baked slice of bread is heaven and the second slice even better.

Oh well , it is all safely tucked away in the freezer and once it gets to that stage is no problem.

Still have not lost any weigh, nor have I gained so with the medication maybe causing weight gain,  I best be happy with staying the same.  But gosh, darn I would like to see 169 maybe tomorrow..lol..

Good morning diary and all

Well 169 didn't show up this morning.  Anyhow I am off and running this morning, although not too fast.  I prefer walking.

Yesterday was busy with meetings, appointments etc.  so need to get something done today.

Trying to eat healthy and hopefully that scale will move downward soon.

Dear Diary and others:

I am so happy, weighing in at 169.4

I am going to hold it...yes I am :chicken:

Maybe the extra yard work and walking did it, have been stuck at 170 for a long long time.

So less red meat, more fruit, veggies and fibre and walking every day.  Perhaps this :turtle: will make it yet.

Dear Diary and Others:

Thanks mj and Beth for your congrats.  It does feel good to get off that plateau.  More good news in that my last medical tests are clear.

So things are looking up here.  Walked outside today and also walked with Leslie in the house.  Right on track with my meal plan.  As always more veggies, less fat and red meat.  Follow my diabetic meal plan.  Yes, that is the way for me, it may take awhile but that is OK.

Good luck to both of you, sounds like you are doing great.

Hey, I did Leslie plus a walk outside today too!  Must have been on the same wavelength!  Every time I return to her I remember why I love her DVD's so much.  I have her pilates one too, and an abs for the stability ball dvd too.  I am going to have to check and see if she has anything new lately!

Glad to hear that the medical tests came back clear.  It's always such a relief to resolve an issue.  I felt soooo good when I finally was able to stop having iron treatments @ the hematologist every 2 weeks- it was like YES, I am healthy and whole again!!

Hi Diary and others

I also love Leslie mj she is always there for bad weather or for when I just can't seem to get started.  So I put on her one mile tape and once I get started often do the 2 mile as well.

No leslie today walked outside and did lots of yard work.  Had fish and veggies for lunch and good old homemade soup for supper.  Now for the week end when it is so hard to watch our food intake.  Why is that I wonder?  Monday to Friday great and then the week end???

Also had company part of the afternoon.  Expect more tonight.  So better tidy this place up a little.  That is the trouble with working outside, then things get behind in the house.

Good healthy eating everyone.  We can do it this week end.

Maggie, I think I personally have a hard time with weekends because they are less structured.  During the work week, I have the same breakfast almost every day.  Then I pack a lunch and snack which limits those choices, and usually have dinner planned so I don't have to think about it when I am hungry.  On the weekends, things are more laid back, and also sometimes I have those darned social events to contend with, always centered around FOOD!

Dear Diary and others:

Social events are surrounded with food, you are so right mj.  I have had 4 days of social events and lots of food.  Did the best I could.  Not that I overate but a lot of it was food I wouldn't normally eat.

Now why wouldn't when barbequing  have a choice of whole wheat bun??  The trouble with white bread buns etc is they shoot your blood sugar out of control.    And the salads etc usually have tons of dressing and who knows how much hidden sugar.  So eating healthy is tricky.  Controlling blood sugar even trickier.

Good news still weigh less than 170.  So maybe the 160's are here to stay.  Got in lots of walking on the week end and exercise just doing stuff.

Starting now I am in control of the food on the table, at least until next week end...lol

Yes, it is definitely a challenge to eat at a bbq!  I am always eating the meat w/o a bun, and picking out protein and veggies from salads, leaving the noodles behind... of course, that's only on the days when I am trying to be thoughtful about food choices in consideration of health...

Hope weigh-in is satisfactory this week~

Good Morning Diary and Others

Weighing in at 169.2....a very small loss from last week.

Well at least I am holding my own.  Didn't do quite as well with my walking this week.  Have been doing other physical things so hope that counts some.

It is cold again the last few days and supposed to last for several more.  Spring is my least favorite time of year.  Seems we have no spirng, just miserable weather and then directly into summer and then everything has to be done at once.

I would so love to be putting my potting soil into pots and getting ready for planting but just too miserable out there.  Did Leslie Sansone this morning.  Thank goodness for Leslie.  Made some really healthy muffins.

Guess I will wash down the walls in the living room, or maybe not.  Can you tell I am a little disgruntled this morning.

One good thing too cold for barbeques!!!

Hey, a loss is a loss, right?  Hopefully you'll see more of those!  I haven't been doing my Leslie lately because I got the treadmill, but she is definitely useful.  Actually, I have been using the Leslie stability ball for abs workout, which also has an upper body one w/ weights.  LOVE IT!

Hi Diary and others:

Off to a good start today by going to church this morning.  sort of sets you up for the week.  The choir sang some beautiful music today.

Later after a nice lunch of turkey sandwich and some fruit.  Was out working in my rose garden and then went for a nice long walk with the dogs.  Of course they always come along.

Otherwise a pretty quiet day,  I just said to hubby maybe we should go do something!! So he moved from the couch to the chair.  I love him dearly but sometimes would like to light a fire under him.  We are just too comfortable like a pair of old socks.

Oh well, I must count my blessings and they are many.

So must go make some supper,  I don't think hubby is taking me out!!!

Diet Hint:  Stop eating before you are stuffed...good advice I read the other day and have been trying to do it.

Have a great Sunday.

Haha the only way he is taking you out to dinner is if there is a restaurant between the chair and the couch! As for the stopping when full, I have such a hard time paying attention to that.  I agree, it is important to read the body's signals and know when it has had enough~

Hi Diary and others:

Thanks mj and mol for dropping by.  I love it when I get some comments.  I should post more in others diaries.  I read and my computer is pretty slow (out in the country) that seems I never have time for comments.  I do have a tower but still not as fast but better than dial up.

I have admired your progress mol as I think we both joined about the same time and you have done marvelously well while I have just poked along slowly but am happy with that at least not so much up and down.

I have just returned from my walk..still wearing my winter coat as the wind is so chilly.  I think of you mj in the 90 degree temperature what a difference where one lives makes in the choices we make for physical activity.

Keep up the good work all of you who stop by.  Tomorrow is the last day of the spring challenge I think I have a tiny loss if it holds until tomorrow.

Well, Maggie, it was 42 degrees here this morning, and only got up to the low 60's overall... what a difference a day makes!  That's my biggest challenge with working out, the fluctuations of temperatures and weather elements.  Of course, there's always the gym, but it isn't as nice as getting outside to do something!! Don't forget, in weight loss and in lots of other things, slow and steady wins the race!  I think it's a great way to make small behavioral changes that can "stick" for the long run!!

So yesterday our temperature was about the same mj.   Lots of variables here also, although no hot days yet.  The trees are budded but no leaves yet.

Final weigh in for the spring challenge was 169

Lost l lb. in 2 months.  I will take it at least it is not going up.  I am taking medications that may put on weight the doc says.  I know it makes me more hungry or at least I think I am.

Done nothing in the way of exercise yet today,  just housework and 3 loads of laundry.  Getting all the bedding washed and freshened up.

My goal is 167

Good luck to all who join the challenge.  It is so great to see how everyone is doing there.  I am hoping to make it to 167 this challenge.  My health is still not up to par and I have to be patient with it as well as my weight loss plans.  Actually I mostly want to stay healthy and loosing weight is one of the best ways to do that.

Maggie, it really is good just to maintain.  It means you have managed well at your current level of eating and exercise, and with a few minor adjustments I am sure you can get to your next goal.  It's like mini steps and small changes to get to the final goal, all while building new habits that you can likely sustain!!

Hi Diary and others:

Thanks mj for your encouraging words.

I joined the Independence Day Challenge and this time they are doing heights and MBI's.  I am shocked to see I have the 3rd. highest MBI of the group!!

What I am going to do about it,  I am not quite sure.  Feel like hiding my head in the sand and pretending it isn't so.  But tomorrow I see yet another doctor and will make plans after that.  I have upped my walking today,  a small start.  Finally we have had a nice day.  Greatly enjoyed and appreciated.

Don't let it discourage you, Maggie. I remember for a long time during the challenges, my weight was higher than anybody else's, and only one other person was usually over 300 at all.

That's the way to do it - the little changes we make here and there can add up to a whole lot over time. Looking back at your first post, you've lost 30 pounds. - that's excellent progress! Stay strong, and you'll get there!

Hello Diary and others

Thanks Crimson for reminding me I have come down 30 lbs.  One tends to focus only on the present and the future.  I want to congratulate you on your progress, you have done very well.  An inspiration.

Good report from the doc yesterday,  if I need more surgery it will be sometime in the future.

So, still walking further and today upping my veggies and a little less of everything else.

We shall see how that goes in the next couple of weeks.

Maggie, that's such good news from the surgeon.  Always good to know that the body will hold up a while longer!  As Nick pointed out, you have come a far distance from your start. Regardless of your pace, you are making steady progress.  I am sure you can set a goal for yourself in the challenge and achieve that too!  Good luck~

Hello Diary and everyone

Mother's Day was great.  Have been on a bit of a carb kick ever since.  Lots of exercise and walking today.  In fact have walked every day in May so far.  Sometimes didn't want to start but once going it was  wonderful and so refreshing.

Too many carbs make one sluggish,  so back on the band wagon starting now.  Guess we all need a little break from calorie counting once in awhile.  No sense beating one's self up over it.  The future is what counts.  Anyway no damage on the scale so far.  No loss either!!!

Hi diary and all

Well the carbs always get to me.  I love carbs,  One of my best memories is of coming home from school to the smell of fresh baked bread and my mom's love.  BUT I keep telling myself "No matter how many of them I eat, it will never bring  Mom back.

I am still plugging along here, was happy to get my sugars back into the 6.2 for fasting today and feel so much better.  Still walking every day.  Me and the dogs.  One dog heels and the other runs everywhere investigating and sniffing.  I wish they would leave the skunks alone..woe is me.  I walk on a gravelled country road and sometimes just around my walking trail in the yard (takes about 10 minutes, if I don't stop to smell the roses etc) guess that would just be a stroll..lol

Hello Diary and everyone

Well long time since I posted.  Very busy around here.  I have not been counting calories or writing down what I eat...have not gained so think I have that down pretty good.  Not sure if I want to settle here at pleasantly plump or keep on trying.  the weeks go by so quickly and nothing seems to happen.  I eat healthy most of the time and exercise daily, even more so now with the garden, grass cutting etc.

So still plugging along, slower than a snail.  I need to kick it up a notch!!  But can I do it?  Perhaps posting more often would help.

Congrats to all of you loosing weight.  I applaud you and your efforts.

Will weigh in tomorrow morning.  That's anothing thing I don't hop on the scale every morning either.  That must change.  Because that does help me keep myself in check.

No change.  What to do!!!

Keep positive.  I can do it.  I can eat a smidge less here and a smidge less there.  I don't go for drastic changes or going on a diet...this has to be a lifestyle thing.  So am off to do some more gardening...hey do you think that digging could be building muscle!!  Well a girl can dream can't she...lol

Oh me, Oh my....I am still at a standstill.  168.6

I have not been posting,  barely take time to read.  One thing I think we have everyone married, graduated, convocated for the month of June.  All fun celebration and each one prescious.  So I have 12 days left of the challenge!!!  Time for me to perhaps knuckle down and loose a lb or  two.

How are the rest of you doing?

Good Morning Diary and readers

Weighing in at 168 for the end of the independence Day Challenge.

Still 168 a week later.  Hoping for 166 for the summer challenge.

Still eating healthy most of the time and trying to limit hamburgers, hotdogs, ice cream  which are so plentiful during the summer and barbeque season.  Sometimes I have a burger ...with no burger, just cheese, tomatoe, lettuce and the bun of course.  This is good!!! but still like the burger part but hey, maybe one should just enjoy the smells of them cooking!!! No calories there!!

That's it for this update.  On with the show.  Church this morning must get ready.

So for a start have had a good healthy breakfast and now out the door for a walk before it gets too hot.

Weighing in at  167.2

Down a wee bit,  I am happy with that.  Have been walking most days, sometimes at home and sometimes at the Lake along the beach.  Also there are so many fresh veggies and fruit now.  They are good on their own, don't really need butter, ice cream etc.   At least that is what I am trying to tell myself.

Good luck , we can do it one ounce at a time, not going to think in terms of lbs.  Small baby steps.

Good Morning:

Off to a great start this morning, up at 6:00 a.m.  Had a good breakfast, made the beds did the dishes and a 2 minute power walk with Leslie Sansone.  Not much but hey it gets your blood pumping and the rest of the day goes better.

Still weigh 167.2 and hoping for 167 before the end of July.  So, I am off to do some gardening, Rose garden needs some serious work.  I want to pick up the rock path and weed really well underneath the stones and then will see if I want to put it back down or just let the roses take over.

Hi Diary and everyone:

Thanks Kady for your kind words, it helps to keep me motivated.

Weigh in today August 1 167 lbs.

Down a wee bit!!

Have been trying to control my portions and eating 6 servings of veggies a day, helps to fill me up.  Cause I hate being hungry.

Have my rose garden looking beautiful, if I do say so myself.  I did not put the stone path back down.  Felt it was taking too much attention from the roses.  So put in a bench and have been having my afternoon tea and snack there.

Ahhh, one of life's little pleaures.

Cheerio

Thank you for stopping by and even mentioning me here:smile: My run was good. Hope yours was too! I remember when I could only run 2 mins, now I can do 30 if I want to! I just kept adding mins every time I ran.

Have a great day :apple:

Good Morning Diary and others.

Well sqzee, I am not sure I ran 2 minutes as I didn't take a watch so I have been running 100 steps and then walking for awhile and so on and so on.

Weigh in at  166.2

Down a wee bit again.

Lots of veggies and less meat seems to be working if slowly :music: so I will whistle a happy tune and give myself a star :star:

Good Morning Diary and Others.

Well still  166.2

Sometimes I get discouraged with my slow progress.  Only a couple of weeks left to loose .2 lb surely I can do that!!!

Did a Leslie Sansone tape this morning and hey it puffed me out.  So gardening, walking along the Lake shore etc. is not enough to keep one in shape.  So hopefully will get in the habit of doing a tape each morning instead of depending on the weather to tell me if I can go to the Lake etc.

Going to stick with more veggies and less red meat and more fish.  Perhaps try and cut the fat a little.  Hard this time of year with corn on the cob, squash, and all those yummy vegetables which I think need a little butter.

Oh well,  I can do it,  I am pretty sure I can.  Yes, I can do it.

I bought some apples, kind of got away from eating them :apple: so time to add one of them a day.

Cheerio

Maggie
