Good Morning
Things going well today, have done my workout and will go for a walk outside this afternoon. Sun is shining brightly, so maybe will melt some of that ice.
We have to take care of ourselves and that means taking time to count and record those calories. Schedule exercise for yourself like an appointment you have to keep.
We can do it. I can do it even if I am loosing weight slower than a turtle what is gone is gone and it is never coming back.

Good Morning and Welcome
I was away all day yesterday so did not get any exercise, tried to make up for it this morning by walking 2 miles.
Felt good. Eating within my calorie limits of 1500 to 1800 calories. Have kind of slacked off on keeping track on paper and you know I think that makes me think about food too much, rather than just making good choices as I cook or eat out.
Have a nice week end.

Good Morning and Welcome
Spring Fling weigh in this morning 188.4 down over a lb from last week and this after a day of sitting most of yesterday. I will take it and hopefully am on the way down again after staying at 190 lbs for about a month.
Plan to do some painting today, That should be a bit of extra exercise.

Good Morning and Welcome
I think the scale went down a bit again today, now if it will just hold until Monday!!
Had my annual check up yesterday. AlC is 7.3 which could be better but the doc is happy with that. Perhaps it will get better as I loose weight.
All in all, things going well with me. Loosing weight is a long slow journey for me but I am enjoying it. The healthy foods make one feel so much better in many ways. More energy, better brighter outlook.
We all can do it one step at a time. If we slip up one day just start over the next, I have found that forgiving myself when that happens helps immensely.
On with my day.

| Hi Maggie, The 180's are great, good news, way to stick at it and not let frustration get the best of you. You have such a good attitude. Good luck with the Spring Fling this week! I'll be watching for ya.

Hi Diary and Everyone
Well, I am some disappointed this morning as my scale went back up to 188.4..why does it do that on weigh in day for the spring fling...ahhhh well better luck next week, at least I am maintaining and I did let things get out of hand yesterday. Had company several times yesterday and every time involved more hospitality around the table and of course I indulged without hardly realizing it.
Then I made macaroni and tomatoes for supper and I just plain ate too much of it.
Did go for a nice long walk in the spring air and this morning we are off to the city again. Seems we sit around home all winter and then bam on the go every day. So will be eating lunch out. Love that part...will try and make good choices.

Good Morning and Welcome
Goodness Gracious here it is Wednesday allready and I am still dilly dallying around. Must keep with the program today. On the up side I have been walking and getting some exercise but not enough.
So on with the show, better get my walk in before someone comes and then sometimes gets delayed until the next day. In some ways it was easier in the winter, not so many meetings, relatives visiting, preparing for spring work etc.

Hi There:
Been a few days since I have been here. Things are getting busy down on the farm. It is always that way in the spring. Green grass starting to show and Canada Geese and Robins are an everyday sight. Soon the hummingbirds will be back. Life is good.
Now if I could just get this weight going the right way a little faster, the number on the scale is not the only number diabetics need to worry about. So it is a little different for us. None of that fasting and feasting for us. Not if we want to keep good control.
I seem to have controlled the upward swing, and as long as I stay the same or creep down slowly I am happy. But I do want to make my spring challenge!! going to do my best. Decided today not to have any more margarine or butter after breakfast and already buttered a cracker before I thought Gotta get the brain in geer before putting the mouth in motion whether eating or talking is a good thing to practice.
Had salmon for lunch today...gotta get in my Omega 3's...

Good Morning and Welcome
Weigh in this morning for the spring challenge 188 down a few oz. That is OK as long as it is going down, I do not care how slowly.
Done a workout this morning. Weather outside is not good so did a Leslie Sansone walking tape.
I can do this one baby step at a time. We all can do it, eating more veggies and fruit and cutting down on the red meat and fat is my plan for this week.
Cheerio
Maggie
PS: You know people are reading my diary, but very few coments made and hey diary I need encouragement and support also. The reason I started this was because I live in a rural area without the support of groups of any kind. Oh well, on with the show. After all it is me that has to do it. Right!!!

Maggie, good plan! Many things I'm reading lately, and even hearing on the TV are focusing more on an "Eat to Live" philosophy...........lots of veggies, fruit, whole grains, nuts & seeds.........and treat meat like a condiment, not the main part of the meal. I've gone back to that, and it sure seems to be working. Besides, when you aim to eat 1 lb. raw veggies, and 1 lb. cooked veggies a day and at least 4 fruits, you don't have room for a lot else. And they are so good for you...........

Good Morning and Welcome
Thanks Tatra and Hisgal for stopping by. I was feeling sorry for myself yesterday I think!! Compared to some of the problems of people here mine are very small. All I really have to do is eat less!!!
Thinking of meat as a condiment is a good suggestion, never thought of it that way.
Thanks again.
Work out done this morning. House tidied and in order. Lunch is in the oven. Weather is still bad and very windy, not a good day to be outside.
So must start a project, I really want to dig in the garden, plant and stuff like that and not make quilts. bake etc. Oh well, must go with the flow.....or maybe read a book and take the day off...mmmm choices, choices isn't that what life is all about.

I am thinking a good word for this eating healthy is perserverance....we just have to perservere and we will get there eventually. In the meantime lets enjoy the journey. Haven't done my work out yet but the sun is shining so should be able to go for a nice long walk.

Hello Maggie, I am new here and trying to find my way around here. How are you doing today? Today is an ok day for me. I have been up and running since early. I have been to the dentist(only to find out the tooth that is broken, he now says can't be fixed), started cooking my dinner, fed the puppy and cats, walked a little, and I will exercise later, I also usually take my walks then also. How many steps are in a mile?

Hi Maggie. Well you are still progressing in the right direction, I see you regularly updating the challenge. I was curious if you ever track calories or log what you eat. I found out I was eating enough bread to sink any serious diet attempt and I've cut back a lot. The exercise really helps too. I am glad the spring weather has arrived.
You live in a rural area, I am the complete opposite, I live in Chicago. But I am a dog lover too and you said that you often take your dog along. What kind do you have?

Hi everyone
Thanks lady08 and Mollymoo for stopping by.
I think there are 5,280 feet in a mile, so I guestimate that is how many steps or perhaps a bit less depending on the length of myour stride. I have bought 3 pedometers, the first one was good, but it disappeared!!! one of those darn kids most likely lol. The other 2 pedometers were duds ...so heck I am not buying any more of them.
I am pretty hit and miss about keeping a food diary, but I have been following a diabetic diet for years and am just tweaking it some. It comes pretty natural to me now. Hence the slowwwwww weight loss...lol..
Molle you live in Chicago, yes our lives are much different in many ways, but when it comes to sick hubbies we are all the same. I so admire how you have dealt with everything, job, home, going abroad.
Our dog is just a lovable farm dog, he has no pedigree. He is black and white and medium sized. He loves to walk and investigate all the ditches and sniff around, and we enjoy each other's company.
Bye for now

Good Morning All
Weigh in this morning for the spring challenge was 187.6 inching down a wee bit. I am doing this the painless way. I do not feel deprived in any way and if I desire something I have it just in a much smaller portion. No pigging out. This is the way I have to live for the rest of my life so do not want to feel I am on a diet.
Went for a nice long walk yesterday. Weather was gorgeous. Weekend was busy with guests and various activities.
Best of luck to all of us this week.

Final weigh in for the spring challenge was 186.6
Just about made my goal of 186, did loose 4.4 lbs. Going down slowly. Yes!!! I like that.
Have been very busy the last few days with church doings, flea markets, auction sales, medical appointments.
I have joined Peter's Challenge for May and June. Looking forward to it.
Good luck to all of us as we continue this challenge of better health and weight loss.

Hi Everyone:
Yesterday as hubby was leaving the house, I remembered something to tell him and from the top of the stairs I called him, he looked up and said "My God, you are beautiful" I think I will live on that compliment for a week, month, year, forever...lol...
Things are changing here, we have rented our farm land, so no active farming this year. Just get to watch the other guy. Not sure how I feel about it yet...but not going to eat as I ponder the changes.
Have a new book called Walking for your health and happiness, not really anything new but am enjoying reading it.
That being said, I better go get my walk outside done. Went to town this morning, I prefer to walk or do my workout in the morning. It is so easy to let it slide by if left until mid day or evening.

Keeping busy, vacuumed the whole house today. Had an for an afternoon snack.

Hi Zen and others
Thanks Zenobia for stopping by and for sure compliments do help. We always want to feel love from our hubbies and others.
Well I have been eating too high off the hog, we have been away for a few days and way too much salty food. Went to a chinese smorg and everyone is saying this is so good, yum, yum, and so on and so on.
I am thinking YUK!! not one thing that is not fried, breaded, coated, greasy or floating in oil and being diabetic I have to eat. On the up side they did have oranges:)
Well enough crying in my beer, will do better this week. Good to be where I am in charge of the cooking.
Weigh in this week 189.2 on Peters Challenge.

Good Morning:
What a beautiful day! I love it when the sun is shining and the birds singing. The goldfinch came back yesterday. Expect the humingbirds soon probably today. They usually come up North here from May 15 to 21.
Have been working hard with planting and digging. Hope that counts as a workout as I have not been doing a formal workout except for once or twice. There just do not seem to be enough hours in the day.
My blood sugars are good. I am happy and busy. What more do I want? Well a loss of a few lbs...lol..
Have a great day, I am off to church this morning. Already have the house in order. Yes!! and I contribute all this to having sugars in control and eating healthy. Lots of fruit, veggies, less fat and protein.

Hello everyone:
Thanks Tratra for stopping by, I try to stay positive, sometimes that is hard work.
Hi Lee, I was wondering what happened to you. Slower than a snail, that's me and my snail is not only stopped it is slipping down the hill.
Weigh in today at 189.4
Up 2 oz from last week.
I am hoping it is muscle. Giving myself a good talking to today. Have to do better.
There is so much work to do in the next week or so and I cannot take chances with my blood sugar or be testing every hour or so. So maybe all I can hope for is to maintain.
Cannot be passing out in the yard or garden , I know it sounds like excuses but it really is not. If all I had to worry about is do I eat or not but Insulin Dependent Diabetics, once you inject your Insulin your food has to balance out your activity or make adjustment la de da!!! And there is lots of extra activity this time of year on the farm. At least I am not running meals out to the fields this year.
Hey, I have got into the 180's and I intend to stay there or lower for the rest of my life.

Good Morning and welcome to my diary:
Weigh in this morning 189.0
Down 4 oz from last week.....this snail is starting up the hill again...lol..
Great workout done this morning. A 20 minute walk outside, so nice early in the morning, I must do it more often. It is just so hard to leave that cup of coffee and get going. Was it Winston Churchill who said one should take a 2 mile walk every morning before breadfast...course he was a little chubby.
Then I did a dance video, made the beds, cleared the table well you get the picture.
Good luck to all of us loosing weight, we can do it, 1 oz at a time...baby steps. That's my motto for this week.

Good morning and welcome to my diary
Scale is going down by a little bit...hope it holds until Monday. You know this is the season of barbeques and picnics and potatoe salad, hot dogs and burger. Sometimes I have my burger with all the trimmings and no burger. I am proud of myself, after all a whole wheat bun with cheese, tomatoe, onion and pickle is pretty darn good.
Lots of exercise cutting grass with both the push mower and the ride on one. All that turning on the ride on one is good for the arms.
Have my garden planted. Potatoes are coming up. Have been working on a stone and rock garden so far it is only rocks...lol..
Keep busy everyone and the lbs will come down little by little. Just try and avoid the pig outs. Finding that happens less and less. The healthy life style is where it is at. The scale is only part of the equation. I love jumping on it every day ....and as long as it stays the same or going down I am happy.

Good Morning and Welcome to my Diary:
Weigh in this morning at 188.6
Down 4 oz from last week....at least it is down.
Happy to report my waist is l inch smaller in the last month. I take measurements the beginning of each month.
Otherwise pretty much the same.
One thing about summer time is I work hard and can eat pretty much what I want and not gain weight. If I could just cut back a little, perhaps could loose!!! But then again if I stay the same or loose a little over the summer, can really give it my full attention in the winter.
We shall see how it goes!!
Anyway on with my day.

Good Morning:
It is a beautiful day. We had a nice soft rain overnight and as I sit here by the open window the oriole is singing his heart out and the smell of lilacs is wonderful.
We have been so busy lately, that somedays I don't get to the computer at all. Already this morning have walked and inspected the garden and flowers, usually make the garden tour morning and night. Do a little work at the same time.
Hope you are all doing well. Remember to eat your veggies and perhaps smaller portions will help us get through the summer still loosing weight or at least holding our own.

Good Morning:
Lovely day. weigh in for Peter's challenge is 186
Have been to the hospital this morning for some routine blood tests. Anxious to know my AlC.
Really nothing new. Still keeping going on. Lots of things to keep me busy. Have to be careful about mindless eating. Do any of you do that? Especially when out and visiting over a meal or even at your own table as you chat about your day and plans. Gosh did I really eat that pudding!! Don't even remember.
Still walking daily at least 1/2 mile and along with the extra yard work, am hoping that is enough to keep my weight going down slowly. As long as it doesn't go up, I am happy.

Hi Lee
Good to know you are still around. Today is the day of your tests. Do not have my results yet but will post when I do.
Weighing in at 185.6
Very slow going but it is going bit by bit. Not doing anything special just eating a bit less and doing lots of yard work and walking 1/2 to l mile a day. It seems like such a waste of time to me to be walking down the road when I could be pulling weeds, pushing the lawn mower etc. But I find the rhythm of it seems to bring my sugars down and go for my walk first thing every morning after breakfast.
Hi to everyone else, who stops by to read. Glad to have you.
Take care

Don't think I am going to make the challenge I set for myself. But am happy to be going down slowly.

Hello All:
Final weigh in for May June Challenge 185 No loss this past week.
My how fast those 2 months flew by. Now I guess I am going to have to challenge myself to a summer slim of loosing l lb in July.
Not setting my sights too high but I know me. Had a very bad low sugar in the night a few days ago and I hate those and will overeat to avoid them, just a little something extra us diabetics have to deal with and worry about.
Will get my results of AlC and cholesterol on Friday of this week.
Congrats to all of you that lost on the May, June Challenge. Reward yourselves in some way...but not with food..lol

Good Morning:
Have my walk and weeding done this morning. Lots of wild flowers blooming alongside the gravel road...you see I don't get to walk on pavement. There is this kill deer bird that built its nest on the side of the road (foolish bird) anyway every morning she gives me the broken wing routine for a long ways and I find it so entertaining.
My life is pretty serene and I like it that way. Off for another great day. Work again this aftenoon and I meet the nicest people there. And I get paid to do it...what a joy.
Now if I could just get the weight going down a little faster, oh well patience Maggie it will happen.

Good Morning:
Hope all you Americans had a safe and good 4th of July.
I finally got the results of my tests.
Blood pressure and cholesterol great.
AlC was 7.8 ....need to work on that. It has gone up from 7.3 in February, about the time my weight loss slowed to a crawl, I wonder if there is a connection.
Anyway have to put my nose to the grindstone so to speak to get my sugars under better control. Never mind if I loose weight or not, of course the two go together.
Oh me, Oh my diabetes makes me want to cry sometimes.
Well nothing will happen unless I get up off this chair and go for my walk. An important component to both sugar control and weight loss. Threatening to rain here today.

Good Morning:
Lovely day with a little light rain.
Have been doing so so, sugars are in fairly good control, still having trouble in the mid afternoon with them being a bit high. I am keeping close track for a couple of weeks and then my doctor is going to change my Insulin type.
Still weigh 185
It was raining yesterday also and usually on a rainy day I love to bake cookies, buns, bread, muffins BUT yesterday instead made a huge pot of soup and it was quite fun cutting up all those colorful vegetables and then did a Leslie Sansone exercise tape. May repeat this regime again today.
Happy Healthy Eating everyone...we can do it one tiny change at a time.

Hello
Just dropped by for a minute or two. That scale moved this morning. Guess I wanted to get it down on paper. It makes me feel like maybe I am making headway. Oz by Oz it is slowly going.
Going to church this morning. So better get a moving. The best thing to do anyway is to move more and eat less...but healthy. No fad diets or detoxing or any of those things they only cause you to feel miserable and the weight comes back in the end. Well off my soap box now. Have a healthy happy day. Make it the best you can.

Good Morning Maggie
(insert applause) on the good BP and Chol. #'s. 2 down 1 to go.
Oh me, Oh my diabetes makes me want to cry sometimes. I hear you loud and clear. NOW here's another view... WE have a better lifestyle because we choose life. The first diagnosis for me was while I was preg. Cried all day, then determination set in. I was able to keep #'s in control with diet and exercize. AND I was 20 years younger. Thanks to my take charge attitude I had a wonderful pregnancy and easy delivery, a normal weight daughter, and shorter recovery time. SO, we were given an obstacle in life, NOW lets work on getting over it or around it. Yes it stinks, think of how we are better off watching what we eat. It is no longer a "DIET", it's a "LIVE-IT". We make our choices to prolong our life and the quality of it. Yes we can moan and groan, unfortunately it won't go away. That which challenges us only makes us stronger. We are "given" what He thinks we can endure. This past year I have worked on my "attitude". Things get easier when your head is screwed on right.
Now a little suggestion...I have kept a food diary that included my testing #'s before/after. Always did a fasting, then chose a meal to test after, just to mix it up or know how some foods affected me. Helped me and the Dr. You mentioned a dietician, is that still available to you? Maybe bring it to Her/Him and discuss it. Sometimes just seeing it in black and white for yourself is the moment.
I'm usually lurking and reading the emails sends daily. Wishing you strength to choose well.

Hi Lee
Thanks for stopping by and for your encouraging words. You are right no sense crying about it, just get busy and do what our doctors, dieticians and diabetes care workers tell us to do.
I am doing OK with the sugars but due to an injury have been unable to walk very far the last week or so. It does make a difference both in sugar control and weight control. So still weigh 185. So just holding for now.
Lots of fresh produce from the garden and they are soooooo good. Vegetables, fruit and new potatoes. So no problem getting my veggie servings...lol..
So glad you are in a good place in your life right now Lee, enjoy. and all that walking is so good for you.
Keep up the healthy lifestyle everyone. I plan to.
