Good Morning

Hi to everyone and welcome

We are off to another week and I am happy to report a l lb loss on the New Year Challenge.  Have lost 7 lbs since the beginning of January.  So far it has been slow and steady.  A :star: for yesterday (did really well considering it was Sunday)

So today have had a good breakfast and done my 40 minute workout.  Off to a good start.

We can do this because we believe we can.  Just making one good choice at a time and the momentum to do well will grow.  Have fun in the meantime, life is meant to be lived whether  thin, fat or inbetween.

Hello Everyone:

Things going good here.  Went to Curves today instead of the 40 minute work out.

I felt thin today.  Anybody else have days when they feel thinner.  Must be a little fat left from somewhere on the inside.  Anyway a great feeling.

Have meetings today and tonight so must watch my p's & q's  or should say cookies and snacks...lol..

We can loose weight because we are committed totally.  So I go forth with that thought in mind.

Cheerio.....

Hi Maggie   I will PM you the link to a website article from DLife I subscribe to.  An answer to why the nutritionist suggested more milk.  It seems you're doing well.  How are the #'s?  Still adjusting?
I am currently using the meter my friend gave me and remembering how much more it is than my old one.  She was able to give me test strips too.  When I finally get my blood drawn I will check the meter to what they say my fasting is that day.  Just have to work it like I should.
Wishing you Sunny :sun: Days

Good Morning:

Thanks Lea for the sunny day wishes and for the heads up  about the diabetic site,  looked around there some last evening and found it interesting and helpful.

I am still adjusting and having lows in the night.  Hate that....this lunching at 4:00 in the morning just gives me extra calories.  But bed time reading a little on the high side....not sure what to do.  Have made an appointment to ask about it.

Checking your meter when you have your blood drawn is a good idea.  Maybe I will do that also.

Did a 2 mile walking tape with Leslie Sansone this morning.  Had company so missed my work out that I do to the TV.

We can do this one day at a time.

Diabetes and loosing weight is a challenge, one that I want to win.  It means a better and healthier life.

Good Morning:

Happy Valentine's Day

This morning did a one mile tape with Leslie Sansone and then did some Pilates on the exercise ball ... just starting this and not too good at it yet.  Except for sitting on the ball...lol...but it will come.

I read on the forums that mixing things up is good.  Had to return to taking R Insulin as last evening my sugars were 15 before supper and that is not good.  I know I am at a crossroads where I am tempted to throw in the towel because it is just too much trouble to balance everything.  Adjusting Insulin etc. eating times and less food.. testing all the time ..anyway continuing for today.  Am going for an AlC next time I go to town.

Other than that everything is fine and my sugar is 7 at the present time.

Feeling a lot more optimistic today.  Maybe I can do this.  My computer is acting up so may loose this post.  Week end coming up and going to do my best.  Rings are loose today so maybe I have lost another lb or part of.  I hope so.  Monday is getting close and want to be able to report a loss.

Good Morning and a Happy Week End to you all.

I am feeling great this morning and hope the same for you.   The sun is shinning and the temperature is above freezing.  Yes!!!  A nice enjoyable walk coming up this afternoon.

Did the one mile walk with Leslie Sansone this morning and while doing it thought this time could maybe be spent vacuuming, so did that for over an hour.  You know that bright sun shows up the dust..lol..

Needless to say my blood sugars are in control again.  It makes such a difference to how one feels.

We can all do this because we have a vision and it will take us there.

I see the group on New Years Challenge have lost over 600 lbs.  Amazing, fantastic, the way to go.  Good for us.  A happy dance is called for.

Thanks so much for stopping by my diary.  You are in Canada?  Deep south here!  The internet has made it possible to have friends all over the world.  Good luck to us  both with our health efforts!

I need to be reading more about diabetes.  My hubby is diabetic.  He gets pretty low sometimes.  Mayabe I need to give him orange juice.  I usually try to get him to eat something.  I worry about him a lot.  He doesn't really watch his diet, just takes his pills and eats what he wants to eat.  He has cut out white potatoes and pasta.  Pasta really shoots his blood sugar up.

Bye for now.

Good Morning:  A happy day to you

Busy Sunday so far, did get my work out in this morning.  Had a wood sawing bee this morning and of course I got to make lunch.  Served pie and yep you guessed it I had some.

Nice to see you dropped by Beth.  Sometimes I think being the spouse of a diabetic is harder than being a diabetic.  Orange juice is good for lows or any fruit juice or milk.

Good Morning and Welcome:

A great day so far, 40 minute work out done.  A batch of oatmeal cinnamon cookies baked and yes, I can bake cookies and not eat any.  I try to think of it as aroma therapy.  And the aroma is great.  And it makes my hubby happy, and a happy hubby is a good thing. My kitchen also smells wonderful.

Lost l lb last week down to 191,  not much time left to make 189 by the end of February on the challenge.  So have to pay close attention this week.

Have a great day.  Cheerio

Hi There

Late getting to the computer today.  Went to Curves this morning.  Had a good workout and enjoyed visiting with others at Curves and around town.

Still journaling and find very little difference in my calorie count than before I just followed my meal plan.  But does help with little cheats if you have to write it down.

Eating around 1800 to 2000 Calories a day and am fairly active around the home and yard as well as about 40 minutes of exercise a day.  So far loosing l lb every 5 or 6 days.  Sugars have settled down and more regular.  Will continue this regime until such time as quit loosing weight.  I find up to 2000 calories a day fairly easy to live with.

Hello and Welcome

I am so hungry today I could eat a horse.  Up to 1500 calories already and it is barely after lunch.

I wonder why?  Was it the 3 slices of processed luncheon meat yesterday that started it?  Do I have the February blah's?  Cold weather getting to me?  I just don't know!!  Anyway hanging on by a thread here.

No major problems in my life at the present time.  Must be boredom, must go start a project or something, anything,

Guess I will go eat an apple :apple: sort of craving one right now.

Good Morning and Welcome Readers

Thanks hoofprints for stopping by and for your encouragement, it helps a lot.

40 minute workout done this morning and a good breakfast.

Today I was thinking about some no brainer quick meals,  I need a lot of these in spring and harvest.  More for myself than the working men.  Being a diabetic have to make sure I have mine and not going into lows.

One of my favorites is make a quick peanut butter or cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread, drink a glass of milk and eat an apple on my way out to the fields.  Then drink tea or coffee and visit with the guys.

This is also a quick one when returning home late and ravenous from wherever.

I am sure you all have some meals like this, I think their is a recipe section on here somewhere must look it up.

Good Morning and Welcome

Had a good day yesterday and actually came up under on calories, so that was a good thing.  Not much exercise except for walking and shopping.  Did not buy much but did a lot of looking and dreaming.

So on with the challenge, 40 minute workout done this morning and of course a good breakfast, one has to start out with a good breakfast.

I notice they highlight your name when you make your challenge and we are getting down to the wire and I have 2 lbs. to go, oh boy I might not make it, although I am happy with what I have lost.  Usually have my weekly lb. gone by Friday or Saturday but not this week.  At least not yet.

Maggie :chicken: I am working on turning this chicken into a cool chick..lol...Can it be done..I think I can..I think I can...no, I know I can, we all know we can.

Maggie,
I was great to read through your diary. Sounds like you have been doing great. I like to read about how rural people are dealing with their weight loss challenge. This summer I am going to need to figure out the trick when I go home. I'll keep checking in looking for the pointers.

Good Morning All:

Well, for the first time since starting the challenge no weight loss, same as last week.  I know the body decides when to let go of a lb and it is not always on weigh in day...darn...

So on with the journey to a slimmer and healthier lifestyle.

Did my 40 minute work out.

Thanks vgreet for stopping by, and maybe loosing weight is different in the country,  the fast food places are miles away, but the being on your own all the time might be tougher.  No walking buddies etc.  Not quite true my dog comes along most every time.   The neighbors used to stop and offer me a ride, but now just wave and  go on by, they are used to seeing me out walking. Well sometimes they will stop to chat.

Off to do some vacuuming.

Cheerio,  and lets all remember to make good choices in wherever our day may lead us.

Hi Everyone:

My trip to the dentist went well, did not need any work done except for cleaning.  So we did some shopping and had lunch out.  I did not count calories yesterday nor do any walking or exercise.  Bought a scrumptious salad to bring home for supper and still enough for lunch today.

Did a 30 minute workout this morning and then off to town again (different town)  we live about 40 miles from 2 large towns and l small city.  Each in a different direction.

So I am stocked up on all the healthy foods and got some paint and am going to start painting my office.   Should be fun!!!  At least it will be exercise.

Til tomorrow Cheerio

Off to a good start this morning with my workout and a good breakfast.   I have sort of slacked off the last couple of days.  We have snow, sleet, rain and wind today so will not be doing much outside.

So renewing my efforts to meet my New Years Challenge.  Or get as close to it as I can.  Kind of looking forward to the Spring Fling Challenge.

We can do this because everything we need is inside us  waiting for us to put it into practice.

Hello,

The New Years Challenge ended today and I lost 8 lbs, was hoping for 10 and getting into the  180's.  I have weighed 191 for 2 weeks now.

So what to do not sure.  Did a shortened version of my work out this morning, as I was anxious to start painting and figured that would be exercise anyway.  Up, down off the stool and rolling with the roller.

Anyways have got 2 bedrooms painted since Friday.  Plan to do some more but need to buy more paint.

Going to do the Spring Fling Challenge.  Starting weight 191....Goal weight 186

Trouble with all that painting it makes me hungry as a bear...lol...

Will do better tomorrow, that's a promise to myself.

Until you are incredibly motivated you can't get incredible results. If you are moderately motivated, you will get moderate results. Everyone here is at a "different" level of motivation. If you accept where you are then stay there...when you don't feel happy where you are change it. I stayed fat for 15 years before I woke up....over all those years every attempt was half hearted and ended up making me feel worse. What was the point? Once you are ready you will just do it and get through it easily. There will be ups and downs, that's why the support here is great. You should however have more up days than down days.

Hello and Welcome

Very wise words hoofprint,  not sure I ever thought of degrees of motivation.  Yesterday was a down day for sure.  I had just heard word that a friend of ours son had died and being on a diet suddenly was  not very important.

Better today, did my workout and right on track with my meal plan.  Have simlified my way of keeping track.  Just checking off things as I eat them.  4 fruit , 4 veggies, and so on like that.  And when it comes evening I can tell at a glance what if anything I still need to eat.

Hello and Welcome

Doing great so far today. Workout done and ready to tackle some spring cleaning.

Mostly my days are pretty quiet this time of year.  A good time to make improvements to myself.  I need to remember when I started this diary I was on "Project Me"  and then I sort of forgot as things happen in one's life and I got sidetracked for awhile.

So with God's help and the wonderful support here I will make my goal.  I wish the same for all of you.

Hello and Welcome

Feeling really good about myself today.  I have painted the back half of the house which is 2 bedrooms, bath and my office.  Was in quite a stir for the last 10 days or so.

Now I have everything put back, pictures hung, the rest of the house tidied and to celebrate I mixed a pan of buns.  Need to take lunch to the church ladies group.  So nice to have home made buns to take.

The sun is shining brightly and the snow is melting slightly dripping off the roof.  Went for a short walk this afternoon, the dog started growling but I couldn't see anything like a coyote, bird or nothing so maybe he just wanted to come back home.  We live in a fairly remote area and lots of wild life to be seen occasionally.

Time to punch down those buns.  Workout done this morning, right on track with meal plan.

Weigh in day 191,  still feel good and right on track with meal plan and exercise daily.  So it has to move sooner or later or like Bert was saying on the spring fling challenge...It is not about the weekly weigh in but a lifetime change.

I am going to keep that in mind as I go about my day.  A busy one coming up and I better go get started.  Make it a great day for yourselves.

Good Morning One and All

Hey, I think that scale moved this morning about time...now it just needs to hold until next Monday..lol..

Have been doing most of the right things, eating lots of vegetables and some fruit about 4 a day.  Being a diabetic have to limit fruits some, because of the natural sugar.

Work out done this morning,   Slow and steady, I know that is the best way but sometimes we all get impatient and are tempted to try a drastic step,  which I don't think is a good idea in the long run.

Make your day a good one.  I am  singing a happy tune :music: and wishing the best for all of you as you walk, run, work, play,  do cardio and eat healthy.

Hi Maggie:rose:

I love reading your diary. Congratulations, you've done a great job so far. My boyfriend is diabetic too so I know how difficult it can be to adjust insulin whenever your level of activity or your diet changes. And sometimes you may feel like giving up. But all the hard work and the "sugar/insulin/sport experiments are worth it; they are really rewarding, every day!
You're on the right path, and I know you can be that "hot chick" you want to be. You already do it her way... just let her the time to appear :)

Have a great day and keep writing!!

Gee thanks Cassandra...I will try and give that chick time to come out.  I know she is in there...lol...

Work out done this morning.  It is brewing up a storm out there, so may have to settle in or go walking in the storm this afternoon.  I enjoy going for a short walk every afternoon, don't really worry about how long or how far, just enjoy it.

Have a good day everyone:

Hi Maggie,

Thanks for dropping by my diary.  I have just read yours.  My mother was born and raised in Saskatchewan (sp?).  The only time I have been there was when I was 2.  My mom would talk about the food that they always grew.  What kind of a farm do you have?

It will be nice when both of us can talk about all the many pounds that we have lost.  Onward and upward.

Hello and Welcome:

Still whistling a happy tune.  Things are going well.  Thanks Norelfarms for stopping by.  We  are grain farmers.  Grow things like wheat, oats, barley, alfalfa, canola, flax and some other things.

Yes, it will be fun celebrating when we loose some more lbs.  But then every day is to be celebrated no matter what we weigh.

I took the day off from my workout today.  Was very stiff this morning so decided to give my muscles a rest.  Did go for a short walk this afternoon though.  The air is so nice and fresh.

So lets eat well, be active whenever we can and be ourselves.

Good Morning and Welcome.

Lost one lb from last week.  190 lbs.  Very slow going.  I have been at this weight many times and getting below is always difficult.  Sometimes I think this is the weight God wants me to be.  It is 9 lbs less than at the beginning of the year.  Yes!! I will take it.  It would have been so easy to gain 20 over the winter months.

Anyway on with the challenge.  I have a sore foot( don't know what I did to it)  so exercise is very slow today.  But I did do some.

I am thankful for this diary, it helps to put my thoughts and progress down.

It is up to me ...to eat healthy and less of even the healthy foods.  I can do it, yes I can.   I can make the right decisions and so can anyone reading.

Good Morning and how is everyone today?

I am good just had my morning snack of sugar free yogurt with 3 tsp of bran buds mixed in.  Refreshing with crunch.

Yesterday got some of my sewing projects finished up.  Spring will soon be here, but seems a long time coming.

I am making plans to change my routine a little,  not sure how yet.  But since daylight savings time my workout program comes on at a poor time for me.  A little too icy yet for walking outside.    I do have videos but am kind of bored with them.

So ......still thinking

Looking forward to gardening.  My little rose bush is still blooming on my kitchen table.  I heard the new rage for gardening this year is vegetables.  Ha, us farmers been growing them since forever...after all if you live on a farm and don't have a vegetable garden it is a sin or something.:rose:

Hope you all had a great St. Patricks day.  I cooked green beans and green salad and used my green dishes.  Sewed a pair of green checked potholders.

Hi there:

This morning went for my fasting blood tests at the hospital.  Will find out how I am doing with my diabetes.  Better than last time I hope.  Then after hubby and I had breakfast out.  I just had toast, peanut butter and coffee.  He however had hot cakes and they were terrible.  So will pick a different place next time.

Having a tea at the local nursing home today and I am taking hot cross buns and cheese.  Entertainment will be a sing a long with them.  They always like that and me too.

Nothing too exciting going on here.  Just keeping my chin up and keeping on.

Good Morning and Welcome to my Diary

I have signed up for an on line walking program.  I did it last spring and found it fun and invigorating.  Just getting that email every morning helps to get you out there and moving.   Also keeping a walking log.

The weather is warmer now and I should be able to keep this up.

So it starts out with 15 minutes of walking at an easy pace.  So I am off to do that and enjoy the fresh spring air.  I am doing this in addition to my regular 40 minute work out which varies from day to day.

Scale holding steady at 190...gosh I would like to see 189.  If I am going to see it, I know it is up to me.

Hi , Thanks for stopping by.

The web site is called about.com

The web site is called about.com and then scroll down on the left to health and then under health is a heading walking.  You may have to search a little but they have walking programs for beginners, tread mill walking and advanced.

It is free.  Hope you are able to find it.

I think I originally found this site by doing a Google search for Walking.

Good Morning and Happy Easter

Thank you God for the gift of your son.  He is Risen.

Will be spending the day with family.

Going to focus on the family and beautiful day and not the food.

Will enjoy the food just regular portions , because it is a blessing to share around the table at Easter or any other time.

May you all have a Blessed Easter.

Hello and Welcome Readers:

Weigh in for the spring challenge 190...same as last week.  Had a great Easter, ate some but not too much. Did not count the calories, a day off so to speak.  Did my walk.

Going to be away all day today.  Will do my best to stay within my calorie limits.

Counted my blessings, and they are many.

Hello diary and welcome readers.

Well if I am lucky might have the next few days to concentrate on myself and my loosing weight methods.  I seem to be at a standstill and yet I am afraid to cut my diet too far or will start up that old loose, gain, loose, gain cycle.  At least I am steady nowand plan to tweak it some.  Fill up on fruits and vegetables perhaps.  Did get lots of salad makings, vegetables and fruit today.

I think maybe I eat too much protein, especially red meat.  Us farm girls were brought up on meat, potatoes and apple pie!!!  I have cut out the pie, reduced the potatoes and now better work on the meat.

OH my...but I do want to keep my diabetes in control and maintain my present health or get healthier. That is my motivation so go Maggie go.....no one holding you back but you.

Weight 190...I so want to see the l80's and then the 170's and so on and so on.

Cheerio

PS:  Fish for supper!!! and not too much of it.

Hello Diary and Welcome Readers.

Good Breakfast and 40 minute work out done.  Feels good to be back in the routine.  Did have my fish for supper last evening.  Along with cabbage salad,  1 slice whole wheat bread and an apple.

We all have to remember to take care of ourselves, it is important to eat right and to exercise as much as we are physically able to handle.

Things like work, holidays and family emergencies are always going to be with us, and it is so easy to get caught up in it and forget yourself.

Cheerio for today

Hello Diary and welcome readers

Have had a very good day so far.  Vacuumed for over an hour for exercise.  Re-arranged my living room furniture.  Housecleaning it at the same time.

Then this afternoon went for a 20 minute walk in the fresh air.

We are taking off tomorrow for a bit of a holiday. 2 or 3 days.  It will be good to get away for a bit.  It has been a long winter and it is not over yet.  I am pleased I managed to loose 9 lbs, but compared to some I read about it is nothing.  Reading the diaries is really inspiring,  I often don't take the time to comment but appreciate each and every one.

Believe in yourself and believe in your dreams.  Love yourself now, don't wait until you are down to an ideal weight.  Well that's my two cents worth for today.

Hello Maggie! :shooting_star:

Don't get discouraged. Sometimes the scale will get stuck, but that doesn't mean that you aren't getting smaller! Just remember that since you are working out, that you are probably gaining more muscle (remember it weighs more then fat) so please please please don't get discouraged! Keep doing what you are doing, because it sounds like you are doing a fantastic job!

Hello Diary and Welcome Readers:

Thanks Azgirly for your kind words.  I will keep plugging along and I have been reading some of the advice others have been writing in your diary and making notes.  Also, paying attention...anyone see that TV program  I can make you thin, I saw it the other night and found it interesting.

We do have to live in our own real worlds,  eating out is a problem for some, bordom for others,  health problems and the list goes on.

We went into town this morning so I have to get some exercise in this afternoon.  It is so icy underfoot and I sure am ready for winter to be gone.

Put on my runners and out the door,   dream on Maggie it is going to be a day or two yet.

I talk to myself, does anybody else.  I try to talk positive.  So a walking I will go, winter boots and all.

Cheerio, Maggie
